The above is the first major update of my macro-astrology ephemeris in seven years, which does not much affect plus or minus one thousand years or so from the present, but makes a significant effect outside those dates. For my previous version 6 ephemeris, I exclusively used a formula called Rigorous Precession that takes into account fluctuation in precession due to the Moon’s gravitational effect upon Earth, and while this provides a better estimate for precession of the equinoxes in real-time, it has a built-in ‘error’. For example, in version 6, I had the age of Pisces commence in 732 BC, but version 7, the age of Pisces begins in 715 BC – a difference of 17 years. The situation exponentially deteriorates the further away from the present is examined. In version 6, the Virgo age commenced in 14,153 BC, while version 7 has the Virgo age commence in 13,601 BC – a difference of 552 years. There will continue to be errors in version 7, as it is linear, whereas precession of the equinoxes is an erratic movement at the smallest possible level of observation. Version 7 standardizes each age to between 2147 and 2148 years, whereas in reality, each age is slightly shorter compared to the previous age. The main reason for this shortening is that the Moon is slowly but steadily getting further away from Earth, and this creates a dynamic change in precession. However, I believe that version 7 is far less inaccurate compared to the previous version 6.
I first created version 7 on 25th July 2020, but I had to further tweak it by 7th August 2020 and create version 7.1. At some stage, hopefully, an astronomer will provide improved calculations. There remains one minor discrepancy inasmuch, independent of this largescale ephemeris, I also use a nano-age ephemeris with nano-ages only being some 15 months each, and pica ages of 5 weeks. Version 7 indicates that the coming Taurus micro-age arrives in 2029, but my nano-age ephemeris has this same micro-age commencing in January 2030. However, the error involved is only around one month.
The above does not include the very important overflow periods, and if the overflow periods are not taken into account, a distorted perspective is achieved. The overflow periods never apply to quasi periods, but does apply to all other periods such as the ages, age-decans, sub-ages, sub-age decans and micro-ages displayed above, each period has an overflow into the following period of the exact same length. For example, the Age of Pisces (715 BC – 1433 AD) overflows onto the Age of Aquarius (1433 AD – 3581 AD) and the manifestation of Pisces archetypes in world affairs will be stronger in the Age of Aquarius than its own age – especially in the first half of the Age of Aquarius associated with the overlapping Pisces quasi-age (359 AD – 2503 AD). Currently, the world is in the Age of Aquarius (1433 – 3581 AD), Pisces age overflow (1433 – 3581 AD) and Pisces quasi-age (359 AD – 2503 AD). Even this brief analysis suggests that while Aquarius has been manifesting in the world since 1433, its manifestation remains in second place to the ongoing influence of Pisces – the sign of corporations, religions and medievalism.
Residents of the UK and elsewhere are decidedly upset at the new style of terrorism in their midst from ISIS aligned malcontents. With Manchester, London, Notre Dame, Melbourne (Australia), Kabul, Baghdad, Tehran and so on, it seems that every week more atrocities appear. There is a reason for this heightened round of terrorism and it has to do with Aries.
While most astrologers and people are confused about what age the world is currently passing through, we are actually passing through the Age of Aquarius. Ever since the Age of Aquarius arrived in the 15th century, rebellion, democratic reforms and progressive socio-political movements have flourished – mainly in Western culture – beginning in earnest with Oliver Cromwell in England.
The Age of Aquarius is the Age of Progress but people and societies are by nature conservative, and as a result, conservative orientated governments do all they can to prevent progress from occurring in their patch. This is why most reforms are hard fought and can drag out of decades, if not centuries. The newly elected president of the USA has been elected from the core base of conservative American voters, and he is doing his level best to reverse as many progressive changes as possible. This will be as futile as trying to stop the tide coming in with only a plastic bucket and spade. (see “A Celebration 7,000 Years in the Making” )
Imagine how people will view our time 1,000 years from now. If you want this perspective, take a look at the world in 1017 and see what our glorified barbarian “civilized” ancestors were doing one thousand years ago (in the Age of Pisces). We will probably be seen as the cusp of the clash between primitive civilization with lots of technology leading to progressive civilization. As long as war, conflict, open violence between countries and unnecessary deaths from drought or diseases remains, we are still in the world of primitive civilization even if we can watch Netflix. It could be argued that people’s focus upon their mobile devices is equivalent to ostriches having their head in the sand.
In every astrological age, a specific place was ‘favored’. Under the Age of Gemini it was Mesopotamia (Iraq), under Taurus it was Ancient Egypt, under Aries it was Ancient Rome, and under Aquarius it is Western culture specifically focused upon the USA but with Europe in the mix. Whichever region or culture the astrological gods temporarily favor, there resides good fortune (to a certain extent). The astro gods have favored western culture since the 15th century which is why history books call the 15th century the beginning of modernity in Western culture. Historians know more about ages than astrologers.
As the temporary leading culture, it is up to Western society to set the tone, because the actions of the leading culture filters out to the rest of the world like the wake from the bow of a boat. Is Western culture setting a good example? Did Western culture, spearheaded by the Anglo-Saxon nations headed by the USA, do good when they invaded Iraq in 2003? Hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians and possibly up to one million people were killed subsequent to the invasion of Iraq in 2003. If, as an American, British, Australian or citizen of some other Western nation, what would you do if your country was invaded and occupied by a foreign power and up to one million of your fellow citizens killed? Now many people would just acquiesce but some patriotic souls would develop some retaliatory measure like the Free French partisans when their country was attacked and occupied by the Nazi Germans in the Second World War.
Did ISIS appear out of nowhere for no reason? Or was the creation of this organization and similar ones the result of numerous injustices heaped upon them including the callous murder of so many innocent people in the Middle East by ‘enlightened’ Western invaders led by that champion of freedom – the USA? Would ISIS even exist today if the Americans had not led their churlish and irrelevant war against Iraq in 2003? This is just one example of what can create anger which organizations such as ISIS can both exploit and take to extremes. The ongoing European Jewish invasion of Palestine over the last one and a half centuries is supported by Western nations and demonstrates very clearly to the residents of the Middle East that they are treated as dogs. Some progressive Western nations and politicians have become aware of this iniquity.
Listening to the news today about the growing number of atrocities committed by deranged individuals, criminals and small groups influenced by ISIS feels like the world has collectively fallen prone to Alzheimer’s disease and cannot remember last year, let alone 2003. The inability of the USA led West to perceive their own complicity in the unrest of today, specifically in the Middle East, is what causes war and further conflicts. Does selling billions of dollars of arms to the medieval Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, that stills beheads its citizens and subjugates its women, lead to peace in the Middle East? The Trump instigated ‘blockade’ of Qatar by many surrounding countries has one neighboring country threatening 15 years imprisonment to any of its citizens expressing support for Qatar. This is just political moral corruption to the nth degree by the USA and this is not limited to Trump, it has been going on for decades, if not over a century.
Fortunately, from the astrological perspective, the world is heading away from this momentum of stupidism that the world is addicted to, but at a snail’s pace. With Trump in the White House, it can even be argued that the snail as currently accelerating backwards, but this aberrant behavior can only last a small time. Fortunately, the astro tide in the medium and long term is heading in the forward direction. Trump and his followers cannot stop the Age of Aquarius.
Currently the world is in the same astrological configuration as the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. In the previous Cancer micro-age (2000 – 2014) were 12 nano-ages, and the Aries nano-age and overflow (Aug 2002 – Nov 2003 – Jan 2005) included the invasion of Iraq from 20 March to 1 May 2003. The current Aries nano-age and overflow (Mar 2016 – June 2017 – Sep 2018) is in the Gemini micro-age (2014 – 2029). The bad news is that when Aries is prominent, war, discord and conflict is always at a higher level. With June 2017 the apex of the current Aries period, it is unfortunately associated with what seems like a growing spate of terrorist attacks around the world. The intensity of Aries is at its strongest level from June 2017 until February 2018 and so we must expect more terrorism at a much higher level than normal for the next 8 months.
There is a silver lining (so far) for the current increase in terrorist attacks. Usually these Aries nano-ages bring a regional war where instead of the dead in each attack in the single or double digits, in the last two Aries periods, it was in the tens and hundreds of thousands associated with the two Gulf Wars. However, as one of my astute friend stated, those killed or injured ‘did not count because they were not one of us!’ (See “What is in Store for Trump & the USA in 2017?” for more background details)
If the West wants to set an example, it must stop killing other people to further their economic, military or religious biases as a starting point. Currently the USA is bombing civilians in Mosul, Iraq – this is merely collateral damage from the western perspective. Unfortunately, this will remain the degraded international socio-political reality for some decades to come, but even now, the light at the end of the tunnel can be glimpsed.
On the political front, we had Bernie Sanders in the USA and Jeremy Corbyn in the UK. Last weekend I read in a Murdoch newspaper a report by a shocked journalist that Jeremy Corbin had 35% support from the UK voting public. Shock and horror, how can this many people turn their back on the modern capitalist dream as promoted by Fox News? Corbin, like Sanders in the USA in 2016, expressed basically the same progressive political and economic policies intended to reign in extreme capitalism and promote socialist ideals for the benefit of the less wealthy half of society.
Socio-political change is slow, but interestingly, as of June 2017, the current Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) has just changed from first to second gear stepping up the intensity of Aquarius in the world. We can expect further movement towards the progressive future for the rest of this Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow, especially in the period Dec 2019 to Jun 2022 when it shifts into third gear. We can also expect growing strident opposition from reactionary political forces such as Trump, le Pen and conservative populace politicians everywhere. In any Aquarius period, the mainstream or middle-of-the-road perspective suffers and extremists on the left (progressive) and right (conservative) can gain far more traction and support compared to ‘normal’ times. (see “This is the Dawning of the Aquarius Micro-Age Decan” ). Which direction each country veers depends upon their evolutionary stage. Immature democracies tend towards the fascist (disctatorial) conservative end such as the Philippines under President Duterte.
Unfortunately, this Aquarius orientation towards extremes or fringes also promotes “revolutionaries” who are at war with mainstream (Leo) society. The fact that the current Aquarius period sits under the shadow of the larger Cancer micro-age overflow (2014 – 2029) places the focus firmly (but not exclusively) upon the Cancer aligned Middle East. (see “Cancer – the New Paradigm for the World” ) Therefore, it is hard to see that while the USA and the West continue to pour volatile fuel upon the Middle East, via abhorrent arrangements with their despotic leaders, that there will be any change in the current terrorism scenario. It’s a case of “you reap what you sow”.
To the average western person, the above kind of perspective is outside their scope of understanding even though it is expressed overly simplified in this article. The average western person knows they are ‘good’ and their society is ‘good’, so why are these bad people trying to attack and kill them? This is why a significant proportion of western society can be attracted to knee-jerk populace policies which can breed further antagonism that further feed the discontented urban terrorists in their midst. While the blind lead the blind, the world we live in will remain as it is and has been for the last thousands of years.
In conclusion, for the rest of 2017 at least, we will experience more violence and conflict under Aries than what was previously considered normal, but it is very possible that this round of Aries may avoid a significant size regional war and focus upon urban terrorism instead? It is still early days for Aries, and based on the immaturity of too many world leaders, a mid-level conflict may still erupt. While the short term future looks bleak, the medium to long term future shines in comparison. (see “The Silent Revolution” )
….. or to be more precise, how will our contemporary modern world be judged in one thousand years time?
I was inspired to write this blog after partially watching an interesting TV documentary Life After People. This documentary explores the fictional notion that somehow all of humanity suddenly disappears, leaving the world intact as it is today but minus human beings. Without humans, everything begins to decay. Termites begin chewing through the wooden structures, iron rusts and vegetation takes over. Even concrete ‘dissolves’ as modern concrete is not as sturdy as the ancient concrete employed by the ancient Romans (and modern concrete produces far more pollution than Roman concrete). In about 1,000 year’s time, there is virtually nothing left – except for ancient monoliths such as the Egyptian pyramids.
This documentary contrasted ancient monuments and modern construction techniques. Modern construction materials are not orientated for longevity. Without constant rebuilding or intense maintenance, most of our constructed modern world will quickly deteriorate. In stark contrast, the pyramids have lasted over 4,000 years, and many of ancient Rome’s impressive building remain available for tourists to visit. These remnant Egyptian monuments are likely to last for many more thousands of years.
The contrast between ancient Egypt and the modern world has an underlying astrological connection. Ancient Rome was the empire of the Taurus age. The modern world currently is the product of the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (of the Aquarian age). Taurus and Scorpio are opposite signs! Therefore what is strong in a Taurean period is weak in a Scorpio period (and vice versa). When we think of ancient Egypt we think of grand pyramids, the Sphinx and massive rock facades on valley walls – plus the aroma of incense, essential oils and freshly baked bread ….. and other sensual delights. Ancient Egypt was Taurus made manifest. There will be no other time in the world where Taurus will be as strong, as when ancient Egypt thrived, for round about another 19,000 years. So despite the modern technological revolution, it is unlikely any society over the next 19,000 will produce a society that leaves so many archaeological epitaphs for many thousands of years compared to ancient Egypt. Egypt has set the benchmark for a long time!
We automatically conclude that our modern world is superior to what came before. However the astrology of the ages indicates otherwise. For example, why hasn’t the contemporary modern world with vastly greater population produced a better poet than Shakespeare? Why aren’t modern classical composers superior in quality and quantity compared to the classical musicians from a couple of centuries ago? The answer is very simple. At various times over the course of the Great Year (some 26,000 years long), there are twelve astrological ages, and these ages indicate a peak of archetypal energy associated with the zodiacal sign of the astrological age. For example the Aries age and overflow (2916 BC – 1433 AD) indicates a peak time for war and violence. Despite the fact nothing in the past is of the magnitude of the two world wars of the 20th century, the person who conquered more of the Eurasian land mass than anyone prior or later is Genghis Khan (c.1162–1227 AD). This occurred under the influence of Aries and is unlikely to be repeated until around another 23,000 years when the world enters the next Aries age. The sub-ages of ages also demonstrate this same trait.
The modern world is a passing experience – and it does not mean that the modern world is superior to all of what came before. From the perspective of the Scorpio age and overflow (1791 – 2148 AD) within the Aquarian age, that has produced much of what we recognize as the contemporary modern world, certain developments that are archetypally associated with Scorpio will set benchmarks that should withstand the next 2,000 years. What are these Scorpio benchmarks? These include the internet, genetic engineering and all its spin-offs including GM foods, the sexual revolution, abortion, nuclear power and weapons, national and personal debt, loans, credit cards, tyrants (Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot etc), pollution, recycling, revolutions, underground criminal networks (e.g. the Mafia, Triad etc) and unseen forces such as insecurity and spiritual regeneration – to name a few. The appearance of these Scorpio archetypes will withstand the winds of change for quiet some time.
It is possible to predict the next peak of human activity based on the slow movement of the ages. Of the twelve sub-ages (approx 179 years each) that exist within each astrological age, sub-ages can be broken down into three sub-age decans (of approximately 60 years each). The Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2074 with its peak period 2029 – 2074) will witness the greatest manifestation of Gemini since 1073 AD (around 1,000 years ago). What can we expect from Gemini – especially in the period around 2029 to 2074? Firstly the continuation of the communications revolution due to cell phones (mobile phones), emails and the internet. Other areas strongly associated with Gemini include: the massive growth of education around the world – especially pre-university education; the automobile revolution utilizing clean energy; a new futuristic road network; environmentally sustainable transportation; a revitalization of cities; and the minimalization of language due to texting; plus the greatest novelist(s) of the last 1,000 years. Amazon’s Kindle and Apples iPad are ongoing example of new direction in (Gemini) literature. On the negative side the world may be prone to major wind storms, deteriorating air quality and massive increase in lung diseases due to pollution. Gemini currently remains in its formative period (1970 – 2029), and all the Gemini archetypes referred to will be at their most powerful in the period 2029 – 2074.
Though we can expect amazing novelists to spring out of the peak of the current Gemini influence around 2029, the influence of the larger and current Scorpio sub-age is much greater. How will people in the future judge our modern world? On the negative side they will see the modern period as the greatest example of rapine of the Earth where much of the oil and gas laid down over many millions of years and many other limited natural resources are extracted from the ground and used injudiciously with scant regard for future generations. We are behaving like pigs at the trough. We will be earmarked as that strange period when atomic energy and bombs were developed and utilized for good and bad – provided we have not blown the world to smithereens or totally polluted it with nuclear waste so that it is inhospitable to humanity.
On the plus side, we will be seen as that time in history when the world revolted, and dismissed its hereditary kings, monarchs and aristocracy. The internet will be seen as a gift. The Sexual Revolution will also be noticeable in one thousand years time when humanity commenced to be liberated from archaic sexual roles and gender inequality. We will be remembered for our spiritual and religious reinvigoration as displayed by the arrival of born again Christians, the growth of fundamentalism in Christianity and Islam plus the increased spiritualism associated with new sects and groups that have proliferated since the 1970s and the natural spirituality of the New Age movement.
Though it has not occurred yet, we will probably be well remembered for the grassroots revolution against rampant and ecologically unsustainable consumerism (this grass roots revolution is unlikely to see its culmination prior to the middle of the next century). We will be seen as that strange time before the coming ecological golden age (2148 – 2863). Our modern world is actually the gear-change time where the 10,000 years momentum of unplanned and ad hoc development of the world collides with its ecological consequences. This is part two of a mighty revolution that is underway. Part one was the revolution that dethroned the kings – part two is the environmental revolution that we are only seeing the beginning.
Unfortunately we will most likely be remembered badly – because compared to what is to follow, we don’t look good. The mini-golden age due around the middle of next century and lasting for around seven centuries indicates a world of balance, equality, ecological awareness and most likely a much smaller world population compared to today’s world. Scorpio is the sign of pruning – how much of the world’s population will be pruned over the next 150 years or so? From the current figure of 7 billion people, at least half may be pruned. This is already occurring. Most first world nations now have a negative population growth, with many second tier nations also falling in line. Research indicates that the more educated and economically prosperous a region – the lower the birth rate.
The astrology of the ages supports the realization by many that the world is on a collision course with environmental degradation due to pollution. How far will we go before something decisive and effective is done about the deplorable ecological situation? The influence of the Scorpio sub-age strongly insinuates that the world will go past the point of no-return before anything effective is done – with some severe long-term consequences for this lack of timely and direct counter measures. Despite the appearance of a possible golden age next century associated with the Libra decan of the Aquarian age, Libra produces indecisiveness – as no zodiacal sign has only positive qualities associated with it. So while the steady increase in Libra that has been occurring in the world has produced greater environmental awareness by a significant amount of the population, the amount of indecisiveness and the degree of luxury people want to experience (and damn the consequences) is also on the increase. The perceived failure of the Copenhagen Accord in late 2009 on climate change to really tackle the issue head-on is an example of this indecisiveness.
We must put the present parlous circumstance of the world in context. What period since the arrival of civilization has been viewed as a golden age? The earliest and only recorded possible contender for a golden age is in the Gemini age many thousands of years ago in Mesopotamia (present day Iraq) when farmers first settled down into villages but no form of government existed. It appears that political and social decisions were made through consultation and the family elders. This golden age occurred at the cusp of hunter-gathers and the new farmers before all the developed attributes of civilization had evolved (i.e. laws, regulations, leaders, armies, police, religions etc). Civilization brings great benefits and great problems. Are the benefits greater than the problems? On average perhaps not, but the next 150 years may be the exception to the rule where problems of civilization are far greater than the benefits.
I fear that in one thousand years time we will be judged badly but with two qualifications. Firstly I am assuming that civilized society exists in 1,000 years time – which cannot be assumed. Secondly I am assuming that people in 1,000 years time will be judgmental – like they are today, and seem to have been for many thousands of years. Perhaps people in a thousand years will be more evolved and will follow the maxim “judge not and you will not be judged”?
Specifically the Taurus age overflow (2916 – 732 BC)
the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 2148) – the third sub-age of the Age of Aquarius (see Is the Aquarian Age Like a Block of Granite?). Basically each astrological age has 12 sub-ages. The most influential sign currently in the Aquarian age is Scorpio.
To be statistically correct, the many millions of deaths associated with the two world wars of the 20th century need to be put in context of the world population at the time.
In around 2,000 years time in the next age, the Capricorn age, there will also be a Scorpio sub-age. The current Scorpio sub-age is the most powerful example of Scorpio until that time and therefore provides us with a 2,000 years Scorpio benchmark.
India has just announced (in 2010) a massive plan to educate its vast millions of uneducated children over the coming decades.
The ecological golden age is associated with the Libran age-decan of the Aquarian age. Each age has three age-decans.
