Civil Wars & More in the Libra micro-age decan & overflow (1856 – 1861 – 1866)

The main military focus in this period is the American Civil War (1861 – 65) and again, Libra contributed towards this war, as it ultimately was based on giving justice to slaves. The American Civil War was among the earliest industrial wars in the world and many considered it the first major industrial war and thus again we see in a small Libra period the leap to a greater experience of war compared to any earlier war.  According to various estimates, it is believed that between five hundred and one thousand women enlisted as soldiers on both sides of the war, disguised as men. [1]

The American Civil War occurred near the beginning of the Pisces sub-age decan and overflow (1851 – 1910 – 1970), and before the end of this Pisces SAD&OF, the USA became the age-empire of our age – or at least the greatest superpower in the world.  Whereas Pisces is strongly located in the European astrological signature (probably in second place to Aries), it takes first place in the USA’s astrological signature – though to be technically correct, the USA is the empire of the Pisces-Aquarius age.  Similar to Pisces’ ability to split Europe due to the two fish swimming in opposite directions, Pisces can also split the USA, and because it did so early in the Pisces SAD&OF, the USA had plenty of time to capitalize upon the power Pisces has brought and rise to its role as the major superpower in the world.  Astrologically, the USA is the New Rome (though Constantinople also claimed that title).

Rome’s baptism occurred under the first Aries sub-age decan and overflow (297 BC – 237 BC – 177BC) of the Aries age overflow (715 BC – 1433 AD) associated to the Punic Wars with Carthage (264 BC – 146 BC) including Hannibal’s crossing of the Alps with his elephants.  Rome’s final success in the Punic Wars, which eradicated its main rival, allowed Rome to go on and become one of the greatest ancient empires in the world.  The USA came of age in the same astrological circumstances as Ancient Rome but invoking Pisces rather than Aries.

The American Civil War had implications beyond its borders.  The line between the northern non-slave states and southern slave states actually marked the border between two very different styles of civilization that the European colonialists had imposed upon the whole of the Americas.  North of the Mason-Dixon Line, the non-slave states of the USA plus Canada were mercantile oriented.  Below the Mason-Dixon Line the Americas were a rural based economy, and resembled what the Spanish and Portuguese had implemented in Latin America.  The southern plantation owners mimicked the Spanish ‘hacenderos’ modelled after the Ancient Roman ‘latifundia’ that were typically very large estates (almost fiefdoms) employing slave labor.  Therefore the American Civil War attempted to push the borders of this clash of civilizations in the whole of the Americas southward to the Mexican border.[2]

The American Civil War demonstrated that internally, the USA was and remains like conjoined twins, who can never get away from each other, and often detest each other so deeply, they will go to war against each other.  This is again the reality in the USA when the rural voters throughout the USA, especially the old southern states,  voted for Trump, while urban areas voted Democrat.  2020 is equivalent to 1858 – only three years before the beginning of the American Civil War.  Does this mean that the USA is heading for another civil war?

Table 1 – 2024 to29 is the first astrological anniversary of the American Civil War

A very good argument can be made that the USA is heading towards a period of even greater conflict than has been experienced over the last five years, but the world is no longer in the Pisces sub-age decan (highlighted in yellow in table 1) as was the case with the Civil War.  In the absence of Pisces, there is no other support at present for the USA to tear itself apart until towards the end of this century at the earliest.  In place of Pisces, the world is currently under the influence of the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088) but Gemini is not believed to be part of the astrological signature for the USA.  However, the American Civil War did occur in the Gemini micro-age, or to be technically exact, the Cancer-Gemini micro-age (1851 – 66), as it is this decade.

Furthermore, the American Civil War occurred at the highpoint of the Cancer sub-age decan and overflow (1791 – 1851 – 1910) and Cancer is opposite Capricorn, the third strongest sign in the USA’s astrological signature. When those settlers stepped ashore in Jamestown in 1607, they did so near the very end of the first sub-age in the Age of Aquarius – the Capricorn sub-age (1433 – 1612) and also within the last micro-age in the Capricorn sub-age, the Capricorn micro-age (1597 – 1612) so Capricorn became a key sign for the future USA. The last micro-age is also the Aquarius-Capricorn micro-age as the previous Aquarius micro-age overflowed onto the Capricorn micro-age.  This signature was replicated in 1776 which also occurred in the following Aquarius-Capricorn micro-age (1761 – 76) representing the Capricorn sting-in-the-tail of the Capricorn sub-age and overflow (1433 – 1612 – 1791).  Capricorn indeed is a key sign in the astrological signature of the USA.  Even its final rise to the contemporary world superpower occurred in the Aquarius-Capricorn micro-age (1940 – 1955).

The influence of the current Cancer micro-age and overflow (2000-2014-2029) is detrimental to Capricorn associated USA as was the case in the Civil War.  The overlapping Gemini micro-age and overflow (2014 – 2029 – 2044) is also probably detrimental to the USA, as Gemini sits at the lowly 4th house position to Pisces which detracts from its 10th house authority, and shifts the focus to domestic over international issues – which was played out by Trump through avoiding new foreign wars or conflicts, and extracting US troops from ongoing international conflicts whenever possible.  Biden is showing signs of continuing this trend with the hasty withdrawal from Afganistan in 2021. The USA is most likely heading towards some form of isolationism or domestic focus for most of the rest of the 21st century due to the Gemini sub-age decan overflow (2029 – 2088).

Apart from Gemini and Cancer, the other common sign between the American Civil War and the current Libra MAD&OF is that they both occur within the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2149) and Scorpio indicates that the world currently does not exist in a time of (Taurus) stability, but a time of wrenching change, transformation, revolution and evolution.  Life is not meant to be stable and peaceful under Scorpio.  Scorpio is the sign of our times.

We can certainly expect a period of greater lack of social and political cohesion in the USA, especially in the Libra MADOF (Nov 24 – Nov 29) with the situation deteriorating beforehand, but it should be nowhere near the level of stress that existed in the buildup and execution of the American Civil War.

The tension was in the air very early in the 19th century Libra MAD&OF (May 1856 – May 1861 – Apr 1866). In the very first month, Lawrence, Kansas was captured and burned by pro-slavery forces and Congressman Preston Brooks of South Carolina beat Senator Charles Sumner with a cane in the hall of the United States Senate, for a speech Sumner had made attacking Southerners who sympathized with the pro-slavery violence in Kansas (“Bleeding Kansas”). Sumner was unable to return to duty for three years while he recovered and Brooks became a hero across the South. Also in this action-filled month, a group of followers of radical abolitionist John Brown killed five homesteaders in Franklin County, Kansas – known as the Pottawatomie massacre.

In 1857 the Supreme Court of the USA ruled that Blacks were not citizens and slaves could not sue for freedom.  In the following year Abraham Lincoln accepted the Republican Party nomination for a seat in the US Senate, and delivered his House Divided speech in Springfield, Illinois.  In 1859, John Brown raided the Harpers Ferry Armory in Harper’s Ferry, Virginia, in an unsuccessful bid to spark a general slave rebellion.  Troops under Colonel Robert E. Lee overpowered John Brown, and he was hung for his efforts. The American Civil War was precipitated in 1860 when South Carolina became the first state to secede from the USA. In 1861, the Confederate States of America was formed, comprising the first seven break-away States.

By the end of 1865, the Thirteenth Amendment to the US Constitution was ratified by three-quarters of the states (including those states in secession) with slavery also legally outlawed in the last two slave states of Kentucky and Delaware. In the following year, the US Congress overwhelmingly passed the Civil Rights Act of 1866, the first federal legislation to protect the rights of African-Americans whereupon President Andrew Johnson vetoed the bill, only to have Congress override the veto.

Females

While the vision of the Virgin Mary in Lourdes in 1858 cannot solely be assigned to Libra, the promotion of a leading semi-mythical female figure of western culture can certainly be assigned to Libra.[3]  The association with the Cancer-Pisces sub-age decan (1851 – 1910) provided further female promotion from Cancer with Pisces supplying the visionary element.  The 1856 publication of Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin activated many American women in their denunciation of slavery.[4]  Florence Nightingale became a national heroine by 1860 due to her overseeing the nursing of injured soldiers in the Crimean War.[5]

According to legend, when Lincoln was introduced to her at the White House, his first words were, “So this is the little lady who started this Great War.”

Women already had suffrage on Pitcairn Island, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and in 1856, this was extended to Norfolk Island.  Also, the first known female private detective began work for the Pinkerton Detective Agency.  In 1857 divorce became possible in the UK without requiring onerous parliamentary approval. Keeping to Libra’s matrimonial rulership, in 1858, The Wedding March by Felix Mendelssohn became a popular wedding recessional, after it was played at the marriage of Queen Victoria’s daughter Victoria, Princess Royal, to Prince Friedrich of Prussia.

1859 saw the founding of The Society for Promoting the Employment of Women at a time when there were few acceptable occupations for middle class women other than a governess or a lady’s companion – and thus society made it acceptable for women to be typists, hairdressers, printers, and bookkeepers.  The Mary Institute was founded in Missouri and Tidskrift för hemmet, the first women’s magazine in the Nordic countries, began publication in Sweden. In 1860, the Nightingale Training School and Home for Nurses was opened in London becoming the first nursing school based on the ideas of Florence Nightingale.

Alice in Wonderland was introduced to the world by Lewis Carroll in 1865 and is considered one of the best-known and most popular works of English-language fiction.  Among its first avid readers were Queen Victoria and the young Oscar Wilde.[6]

The Arts

Artistic developments are also in focus under Libra, and The Art Treasures of Great Britain in 1857 was an exhibition of fine art held in Manchester, England. It remains the largest art exhibition to be held in the UK, and even possibly in the world, with over 16,000 works and it attracted over 1.3 million visitors. Its selection and display of artworks had a formative influence on the public art collections that were then being established in the UK, such as the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The 1863 opening of Salon des Refusés (French for “exhibition of rejects”) in Paris had critics and the public ridicule the ‘refuses’ which had been rejected by the ‘official’ outlets supported by the French government.  The rejected paintings included such now-famous paintings as Édouard Manet’s Déjeuner sur l’herbe (see below) and James McNeill Whistler’s Symphony in White, No. 1: The White Girl. But the critical attention also ended up legitimizing the emerging avant-garde painters.  Manet’s early masterworks, The Luncheon on the Grass and Olympia, both painted in 1863, caused great controversy and served as rallying points for the young painters who would create Impressionism. Today, these are considered watershed paintings that mark the start of modern art[7] – appropriately commenced in this Libra period.

The Luncheon on the Grass (Le déjeuner sur l’herbe), 1863 by Édouard Manet

Richard Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde is one of many versions of a chivalric romance dated to the 12th century. The story is a tragedy about the adulterous love between the Cornish knight Tristan and the Irish princess Isolde while the details differ from one author to another, the overall plot structure remains much the same. The narrative predates and most likely influenced the Arthurian romance of Lancelot and Guinevere, and has had a substantial impact on Western art and literature.  Richard Wagner produced his version in 1865 to great success.  It had a painful birth as its chromatic harmonies were likened to “a perfume fog shot through with lightening”.  Wagner depicted Tristan as a doomed romantic figure, while Isolde fulfils Wagner’s quintessential feminine role as the redeeming woman.  His Tristan und Isolde is sometimes described as marking the start of modern music[8] [9] and was highly influential upon the direction of classical music in the 20th century.

Justice

Libra’s quest for justice was also displayed in this period by John Stuart Mill when he published On Liberty in 1857. One quote from this work is:

“That the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others. His own good, either physical or moral, is not a sufficient warrant … Over himself, over his body and mind, the individual is sovereign”

With the above quote, even over 150 years later, most western nations remain retarded as explained by John Mills:

“… there is a risk of a “tyranny of the majority” in which the many oppress the few who, according to democratic ideals, have just as much a right to pursue their legitimate ends”[10]

If Aries is the sign of war, something in Libra opposes this, and this may explain why in this Libra period in 1864 the predecessor of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement was created by the First Geneva Convention, which is focused upon (Libra) justice.  Specifically it defines “the basis on which rest the rules of international law for the protection of the victims of armed conflicts.”[11] Similarly, The forces of progress under Libra manifested in a famous bare-fist fight in England in 1860 that marked the end of this popular spectator sport.[13]

China

This Libra period was part of an extremely tempestuous century for China, probably due to the Cancer sub-age decan and overflow (1791 – 1851 – 1910) and so this Libra period was part of the Taiping Rebellion which was a massive civil war that was waged from 1850 to 1864 between the established Qing dynasty and the theocratic Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and became the bloodiest civil war in world history.[12] This cannot be directly attributed to Libra, but the Second Opium War (1856 to 1860) is a prime candidate. This war continued Great Britain’s and Europe’s tyrannical policy of forcing opium upon the Chinese population resulting in another loss for China, and Great Britain benefited by gaining Hong Kong as a British colony.  This means that since December 2019, Hong Kong is experiencing an astrological anniversary as again the micro-ages and all smaller sub-periods are the same.  This suggests that the contemporary Hong Kong situation has more to play out!   The fall of Beijing to the Franco-British forces in 1860 involving the looting of the Chinese Emperors Summer Palace is also worth noting.

Conclusion

The American Civil War broke new ground in warfare, and probably introduced the first industrial war to the world.  It seems that each new Libra micro-age or micro-age overflow makes a new breakthrough in the extent that war can be waged.  The bloodiest civil war in world history with the Taiping Rebellion in China again promotes China’s Cancer-Libra credentials. Females were also breaking new ground with the vision of the Virgin Mary in Lourdes, Harriet Beecher Stowe’s “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”, and Florence Nightingale.  Early examples of female suffrage occurred on Pitcairn and Norfolk Island.  An early liberalization of divorce anand expansion of female employment appeared in the UK.  Though fantasy, Alice in Wonderland was introduced to the world.

Possibly the largest artistic exhibition the world has seen with The Art Treasures of Great Britain and the public appearance of what would turn out to be Impressionist painters suggest that modern art commenced in this Libra period. Richard Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde appear to mark the beginning of modern music.  John Stuart Mill’s publication On Liberty was another thrust towards justice that remains unrealized in today’s world, including the average First World country, and the appearance of the predecessor of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

The Backbone of the Libra Age-Decan (1433 – 2149)

Why the sudden interest in the Libra Age-Decan (1433 – 2149)? This is because the much smaller Libra micro-age decan and overflow (December 2019 – November 2024 – November 2029) first appeared to an unsuspecting world in late 2019.  There have already been some early manifestations of Libra aligned events, and I suspect we are on the threshold of some further major developments soon.  A new micro-age decan appears roughly every five years, but some resonate with larger and more powerful periods such as the current Libra micro-age decan and overflow. This is because the first age-decan of the Age of Aquarius is the Libra age-decan (1433 – 2149) and therefore the current Libra micro-age decan resonates with the massive Libra age decan. Resonance adds strength.

To understand what the world can expect in the rest of the small Libra MAD&OF leading to November 2029, it is prudent to first examine what occurred in previous similar periods since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in 1433.  The current Libra period is a decan (third) of the Gemini micro-age (Dec 2014 – Nov 2029), but this Gemini micro-age, is one of 12 micro-ages within the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2149).  The current Libra MAD&OF is the first Libra period of note inside the Libra sub-age, and as such, this Libra period is the baptism for the whole Libra sub-age – but not for the much larger Libra age-decan (1433 – 2149)! This makes the Libra MAD (2019 – 2129) a much bigger deal than just another MAD.

Of course, every micro-age of about five years contains 12 nano-ages of some 15 months each, but nano-ages just do not have the same impact as their elder relative – micro-age decans and micro-ages.  This baptism of fire for the Libra sub-age should provide some concrete indications as where the world is heading on a mega scale, because the world is definitely heading towards Libra.  Libra is going to provide the context for many centuries to come.  We merely get to see a preview of centuries of possibilities in the years leading to 2029 but reinforced by the review of many previous Libra MA and MAD since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius.  We can treat the current Libra MAD&OF as a wormhole to the centuries of Libra influence coming to our world.

The examination of previous Libra periods was a real eye-opener and provided me with one of a number of epiphanies.  Libra does not conform to the common expectations of Libra revolving solely around the aesthetic and easy going side of life –its strongest association appears to be with conflict. This has some precedents, and even over two thousand years ago, the planet Venus (ruler of Libra), was a sign for war if it appeared in the night sky.

“In the evening sky, Dilbat (Venus) was thought to be a male war god. In the Babylonian omen catalog we read, “If Venus enters Jupiter, then the king of Akkad will die, the dynasty will change …”  Unless Babylonian astronomers had a good reason to think otherwise, the famous conjunction in the evening sky would have signaled a male war god striking the king (symbolized by the king planet MUL.BABBAR/ Jupiter) and overturning his rule.”[1]

Other notable associations to Libra are the advances of women in politics and society and a quest for justice – with the Black Lives matter the most recent example. In addition, the obesity epidemic and diabetes plus the inability of most western nations to effectively manage COVID-19 can be attributed to inactive Libra because Libra’s opposite sign Aries is the sign that rolls up its sleeves and gets on with the work that needs to be done in any situation – Libra lacks this “can-do” quality.

It may seem confusing that both Aries and Libra are associated with greater levels of warfare and conflict, but there are differences.  Aries war does not depend upon a strong and vibrant opponent, and so Genghis Khan was able to go marauding around the Eurasian landmass mainly picking off small countries and cities at will with his massive armies and created the largest empire the world has known to date – though everything did not always go his way!  In Libra conflicts, there tends to be an opponent with stature or power at around the same level of magnitude. Furthermore, Libra usually sees some remediation or mending between opponents following the conflict creating a new balance of power of one sort or another – and balance of power is a Libra archetype.  The American Civil War is a good example of two opposing major power bases but while the Confederates lost the war – they were not wiped off the map.  However they did have to adapt to a new internal balance of power in the USA that did not involve slavery – as (Libra) justice was central in this major conflict.

The major epiphany I experienced with this Libra research was almost two epiphanies in one – as it was a major insight that I had never before experienced despite the fact that I have been extensively researching the astrological ages for over 30 years.  The world is currently in the Libra age –decan (1433 – 2149) and I have frequently written about it including in my book “The Dawning” plus extensively on many other age-decans that extend back over thousands of years.  However, my major epiphany with this Libra age-decan (1433 – 2149) was due to my examination of only the relatively small Libra micro-ages and micro-age decans since the arrival of the Libra age-decan in 1433.

What I discovered was that these nine small Libra periods provided the backbone for the whole Libra age-decan (1433 – 2149) to date.  It’s as if these nine small Libra periods are the backbone of a Libran dinosaur in a museum and these small Libra periods capture the real essence of the much larger Libra age-decan – even though Libran events in the large age-decan are not limited to Libra micro-ages and decans.  What this means is that if I want to examine any age, age decan or even sub-age, I can quickly find their backbones which will provide me with the core developments without examining all dates covered by the larger period.

One major conjecture I am researching is the hypothetical strong association of the USA with Libra.  I use the word hypothetical because it is certainly not so obvious to date.  Who would think that (Aries) gun-toting Americans are linked to Libra?  However, based on Ancient Rome, the previous age-empire of the Aries-Pisces age (715 BC – 1433 AD), the importance of the first age-decan in the previous age, the Scorpio age-decan and overflow (715BC – 1AD – 717AD), appeared to provide the critical third sign for both the Roman Republic and Western Roman Empire.

The Scorpio association with Ancient Rome is not limited to gladiatorial contests, as Scorpio is also the sign of tyrants, upheaval and lack of stability with all these three endemic in Ancient Rome.  The greatest political saga to affect Ancient Rome was the fall of the Roman Republic and its replacement with the Roman Empire led by a series of dynastically-inclined emperors.  This major political transformation occurred in the decades surrounding the peak of the Scorpio age decan and overflow (715BC – 1AD – 717AD) in 1AD.  By extrapolation, the current Libra age-decan and overflow should take the same role with our current age-empire – the USA.  The Libra association to the USA should be more evident in the Libra age-decan overflow (2149 – 2865) but the seeds for this influence should be identifiable and will also be a focus on the examination of all significant Libra periods since the beginning of the Age of Aquarius in 1433 AD.

“The greatest connection between Scorpio and ancient Rome is the death cult of gladiatorial contests and public executions at the circuses which occurred from the third century BCE to the fifth century CE. The peak period in gladiatorial contests was the first and second centuries CE,[2] just after the Scorpio age-decan cusp. The general public’s fascination with the killing of human beings as a spectator sport shows how cultural preferences on a grand scale can be grossly distorted. Scorpio always has a fondness toward death cults, and ancient Rome was certainly not alone in this regard at this period. This apparent barbaric behavior by the citizens of ancient Rome has its modern pale reflection in the preference of Hollywood and computer gamers for virtual violence, death, and destruction.”[3]

Libra is a major sign in China’s astrological signature as Libra is associated with the whole of the Far East and can be expressed with yin-yang.  Some attention will also be focused upon China as a guide to its future path and role in the world and relationship with the USA. Famous women and notable marriages also strongly figure in the Libra backbone, as do music and the arts in general.

The following Libra micro-ages and decans, plus their respective overflows, will be examined, and each one is associated with one or more major conflicts, and so it will be necessary to deduce if some serious conflict which is either military, cyber warfare or otherwise is due in the current decade associated with the Libra MAD&OF (Dec 19 – Nov 24 – Nov 29) and what this portends for the rest of the millennium.  On average, every third Libra period is a micro-age correlating to around 30 years of influence (taking into accounts the overflow) whereas micro-age decans and overflow account for 10 years:

A Celebration 7,000 Years in the Making

We have anniversaries, biennial events, diamond jubilees, centenaries, bi-centenaries and even millenarianism but rarely do celebrations arrive around every 7,000 years!  Between December 2014 and 2029, a very special event takes place that has not occurred since 5122 BC.  The world in 5122 BC was a very different place.  The population of the world was about 25 million people in 3000 BC, and so perhaps 10 to 15 million people were alive in 5122 BC – about the size of present day Los Angeles.  Nevertheless, great things were stirring in the world as this period marked the first widespread settling down of humans, farming and domestication of animals.

Until 5122 BC the world was the closest in temperament to the society still being shaped by mankind in today’s Aquarian age in the 21st century.  5122 BC marks the end of the Gemini age.  The Gemini age and Aquarian age are both Air signs.  The Aquarian age that arrived in 1433 AD is the first age of the same Air element since the Gemini age (7351 – 5122 BC).  Obviously, the world’s inhabitants in 5122 BC were not concerned about broadband, computers, the price of fossil fuel, pollution or over-crowding, but their heads were in an intellectually creative mode – something common with Air signs.

While these ancients may not have been making technological discoveries of the modern world, they were making farming and agricultural discoveries that allowed them to produce more food than they required – spurning on population growth and spreading their new agricultural technology far and wide.  The Gemini age also saw the first large villages or hamlets and the introduction of many discoveries around the world including the relatively simultaneous cultivation of newly domesticated crops in most continents of the world.  Pottery became widespread, primitive canoes were built, irrigation trenches first appeared and the white-skinned race continued to evolve as they turned to milk and

trekked further north where the sun shines weakly.  Gavin White believes that in this distant ancient period, people in Mesopotamia were investigating the night sky and commenced creating key constellations, including some of the zodiacal constellations [Ref: Babylonian Star-Lore, Solaria Publications, London, 2007, pp, 256, 259, 263]

The world in the Gemini age was on the move.  Probably more discoveries and inventions occurred in the Gemini age than in the previous 50,000 years.  While life was much slower and far less intense in the Gemini age compared to the current Aquarian age – similar intellectual inventiveness was evident.

The relationship between the Gemini age and Aquarian age deepens when the full context of each age is taken into account.  In reality, it was the Cancer-Gemini age and today we are in the Pisces-Aquarian age (see Is the Aquarian Age Like a Block of Granite?).  Cancer and Pisces are Water signs and Gemini and Aquarius are Air signs.  There are four elements associated with the 12 zodiacal signs – Water, Air, Fire and Water.  Each of these elements has specific characteristics.  Fire and Earth signs promote conservatism, patriotism and the status quo.  Water and Air signs promote change, evolution and instability.  The more Water and Air signs the more change and instability.  The more Fire and Earth signs the more conservatism.  When Reagan was president of the USA, and

Thatcher prime minister of the UK the world was experiencing a mainly Earth and Fire micro-age influences and even here we can see the rise of conservatism on the small scale following the heady 60s when the progressive Water element was dominant.

The current Pisces-Aquarian age being Water and Air promotes evolution, change and instability.  Within the current Pisces-Aquarian age are 12 sub-ages.  Currently, the world is in the Scorpio-Libra sub-age (1970-2148).  Scorpio is a Water sign and Libra is an Air sign – the same combination as Pisces and Aquarius.  This is the first time in the Pisces-Aquarian age that we are in a Water-Air sub-age.  This is the first time in over 7,000 years that both the ages and sub-ages are all in Water and Air territory.  The plot deepens.  Each sub-age also has 12 micro-ages.  In December 2014 (plus or minus a month or two) the world enters a little 15 years Cancer-Gemini micro-age with Cancer a Water sign and Gemini an air sign – the same combination of Air and Water again!

Therefore from around December 2014, for the first time in over 7,000 years the world will be passing through an age, sub-age and micro-age that all aligned with Water and Air – with no Fire or Earth in sight.  This occurrence will occur nine times in the Pisces-Aquarian age, with the first three occurring between 2014 and 2148.  This period will, therefore, see the extreme of change, evolution and instability.  Over the last 7,000 years, the world descended into the opposite of what we are now facing.  In the Taurus-Aries age (2916 – 732 BC) the world experienced nine times when Earth and Fire elements ruled supreme without any Water and Air signs in sight.  The world was turning to the bedrock of conservatism, war and nationalism, during that time and the construction of ‘advanced’ societies and massive structures such as pyramids,  and palaces.

Early societies were mainly democratic orientated often involving elders in a tribe. The Taurus-Aries age coincided with the firm arrival of an entrenched aristocracy, pharaohs, kings and other forms of totalitarian governments who by and large were hell-bent on waging war with each other.  The world is like a pendulum that swings from conservative totalitarianism to ‘democratic’ liberalism. After 7,000 long years, the world is returning to progressiveness, liberal change but instability.  Those revolutionary and heady days of the 1960s and early 70s have nothing on what is coming – at best the 1960s and 70s is a preview of what is to come.

The conservative backlash (mainly in the USA and Islamic fundamentalists) following the 1960s and 70s was due to a small digression back into the conservative Virgo and Leo micro-ages – Earth and Fire micro-ages respectively. The stepping stones to the first all Air and Water period commenced with little fanfare in 2000 with the arrival of the Leo-Cancer micro-age (Fire and Water), but changed gear in 2007 (one year before the election of the first black president of the USA) when the Water element in the Fire and Water  Leo-Cancer micro-age (2000 – 2014) became stronger.  The world will finally move into all Water and Air territory around December 2014 for the first time in over 7,000 years.

What can be expected in the period 2014 to 2029 – the first of nine such periods in the Pisces-Aquarian age?  Unfortunately, the extent of what we can expect is hard to determine because historical records going back 7,000 are insufficient to provide us with clear antecedents.  Alternatively, we can examine some of the previous two hundred years or so and look for periods where they are closest to the ideal scenario of all periods elements being Air and Water.  In the Sagittarius-Scorpio sub-age (1791 – 1970) only Sagittarius was Fire, all other signs were Air and Water, so those micro-ages within the Sagittarius-Scorpio sub-age that were also exclusively Air and Water may provide us with a guide.  The particular periods include the Cancer-Gemini micro-age (1851-66) and the Pisces-Aquarius micro-age (1910-25).

Both these periods witnessed many instabilities including in the Cancer-Gemini micro-age (1851-66) the American Civil War, The Crimean War and the Taiping Rebellion with an estimated death toll of between 20 and 30 million alone.  Wikipedia states that

“The 1860s were an extremely turbulent decade in the world, with numerous cultural, social, and political upheavals in Europe and America.”

In the Pisces-Aquarius micro-age (1910-25) saw the end of European millenarianism and conservative influences with the arrival of the 1st World War.  This triggered the abdication of various conservative monarchies and the fall of the last world empires (German, Ottoman and Austria-Hungary).  The arrival of the communists in full force with the Russian Revolution in 1917 introduced radical new concepts of how societies could operate.  The USA attempted to outlaw alcohol with prohibition. The Irish commenced throwing off their British overlords leading to the Irish Rebellion.  Fascists took advantage of political instability.

The instability in these periods was extensive, but so was the progressiveness.  Probably the most important breakthrough in the Cancer-Gemini micro-age (1851-66) was Charles Darwin’s publication of The Origin of Species, putting forward the theory of evolution by natural selection in 1859.  On a minor note, Paris became the fashion capital of the world.  In the following period, the Pisces-Aquarius micro-age (1910-25) Einstein did to physics what Darwin did to biology, and produced his revolutionary theory of general relativity while Alfred Wegener suggests that the continents drift and collide with each other.  Culturally radio, movies and jazz became popular and Pablo Picasso became the leading 20th-century painter, first with Cubism than moving on to Surrealism.  The 1920s introduced the Roaring Twenties or Jazz Age.

As a guide to the Cancer-Gemini micro-age (2014 – 29), we can expect great instability, but also progress – one way or another.  Though doom and gloom pundits may predict a 3rd World War I don’t think this is a possibility as astrologically the world is turning away from war.  There is a bigger problem facing humanity than war – climate change.  However, even climate change can precipitate division.  One way or another the USA fractures in Gemini-Cancer micro-ages so some serious division, conflict or discord will occur in the USA.  Possibly this will occur due to a perception by conservative elements in the USA that they are losing control.  Mass dislocation of people and massive legal and illegal immigration is sure to be a factor in the world.

Climate change requires great adaptation by societies if it is to be successfully tackled, and this period does to a certain extent promote such change – more so from the general population than leaders.   If the last two Water and Air micro-ages produced Darwin’s evolution and Einstein’s relativity – some very significant breakthrough may occur in 2014 – 2129, perhaps the understanding of dark matter and dark energy that supposedly constitutes around 90% of the universe? Other alternatives include breakthroughs in nano-technology, AIDS immunization, a new and superior internet, longevity, DNA in medical technology, a cure for many cancers or even a replacement for fossil fuels.

It would be nice to say that in a Water-Air period that is soon to arrive in late 2014 that positive elements will succeed at the expense of negative elements but this should not be expected. In the 1960s and early 70s, though revolution was in the air for youth, many countries witnessed military coups and dictatorial governments.  Water-Air periods while producing advances both technological and societal, also produce instability which can be taken advantage of by the unscrupulous – particularly the military.  The desire by many people to be free will rise, and some existing totalitarian governments are sure to falter, but others will tend to extract revenge upon many of their citizens – such is the ugly nature of politics.  While public opinion and sentiment are sure to rise, leadership may be wanting in the years 2014-29.  Some key political leaders may actually suffer mental illness and behave like a modern-day Nero or Caligula.  Hopefully, they will not have their finger on the button!

The period 2014 – 29 is a celebration of over 7,000 years in the making – but what kind of a celebration will it be?  Will it be more like a party or a wake?  It is bound to have elements of both, but at the bottom line and despite whatever conflicts and turmoil occur, some very interesting, evolutionary and progressive developments are sure to claim our attention, awe and wonder like we collectively have not experienced for over 7,000 years.

The depicted figure could be an aspect of the goddess Ishtar, Mesopotamian goddess of sexual love and war. However, her bird-feet and accompanying owls have suggested to some a connection with Lilitu (called Lilith in the Bible), though seemingly not the usual demonic Lilitu.
