The recent turmoil over the election of the speaker of the US House of Representatives has two precedents, one in December 1855, and another in December 1923. There are some concise astrological similarities between these previous and present speaker votes involving Aquarius (and Gemini). Is this an accident or coincidence, or does it tell us something about the astrological dynamics of the USA?

These three coincidences all occur within the Age of Aquarius, but the first two occurred in the Scorpio sub-age (1791 – 1970) while the current one occurs in the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2149). Each sub-age has 12 micro-ages (of almost 15 years each) and this is where the astrological correlation starts to come into focus.
The Gemini connection can never be far away for Aquarius due to decans, and any Aquarius period, other than a decan, will have a Gemini decan and vice versa.
There is another commonality between these three periods other than their connections to Aquarius (and Gemini) – these three Aquarius periods are the three strongest appearances of Aquarius the world has experienced since the early 1800s. In every 15 years micro-age there are 12 nano-age (approx. 15 months), including an Aquarius nano-age, but these are short-term periods closer to the second hand on the clock, whereas the micro-age and decans relate more to the minute hand. These three Aquarius periods stand out as the strongest manifestations of Aquarius over the last 200 years, and they usually only appear once every 60 years (on average but with some eccentricities). Aquarius is probably the most relevant because we are in the Age of Aquarius, and so any Aquarius sub-period, such as a micro-age or micro-age decan, will resonate with the full power of the Aquarian age. These Aquarius micro-age and micro-age decan can be taken as part of the backbone of the Age of Aquarius, and taking into account that the USA is the empire of the Pisces-Aquarius age, these small Aquarius periods have special relevance. [Note: I discovered backbones associated with the ages only recently, and my initial discovery of astrological backbones was focused upon the backbone of the current Libra age decan (1433 – 2149)]
Every age since the Gemini age has produced an age empire, but a mono-signed age is really a misnomer – each age is really the combination of the previous age combined with the new age. Accordingly, we are not in the Age of Aquarius, we are in the Pisces-Aquarius age. The Gemini-Taurus age produced Mesopotamia with its first cities and writing, the Taurus-Aries age produced Ancient Egypt with its massive temples and pyramids, the Aries-Pisces age produced Ancient Rome with the mightiest army legions prior to modern times and now the Pisces-Aquarius age has produced the USA as the corporate monolith in the world. It is the first of the dual signs associated with each age empire that has the real power. [see Age of Aquarius for Dummies ]
Though the USA is the age-empire of the current Pisces-Aquarius age, Pisces has the greatest influence which is readily perceived. The USA was mainly settled by arrivals from Pisces Europe. Pisces rules slavery and the USA gained its initial economic leverage from slavery, plus has fought a civil war over slavery. Pisces is the sign of corporations (fake bodies), and the USA sits at the center of the modern corporate world. Pisces rules dreams and Americans place dreams on the pedestal of the American Dream. The USA is the movie capital of the world and Pisces rules movies. Pisces also rules suburban culture – pioneered by the USA. Pisces promotes snake-oil salesmen and grifters. [see Pisces America ]
Pisces is also the dumbbell sign due to its two fish swimming in opposite directions, which explains why the USA behaves as if it is two separate nations forced to live together, rather than one society with two shades – as is the case with most modern western countries. This dumbbell analogy for the USA explains why the rift between conservatives and progressives is far more divisive compared to most other western nations, as the USA is two countries forced to exist within a common border. Each half of the USA has its own ethos, and the two ethe often vehemently clash such as with Prohibition.
The secret to all age empires is that they harness both the energies of the previous age and current age though this is difficult to achieve because all age empires appear to have a love-hate relationship between their two key signs, and for the USA, Aquarius is the partner it both loves and hates. Aquarius is placed strongly in America’s psyche, which is why the USA trumpets its democratic credentials around the world – but the USA is really a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The wolf is America’s corporate-business interests while the sheep’s clothing is Aquarius democracy. This is not a criticism as the astrology suggests that this is about the best that can be expected at this point in the socio-political evolution of societies.
The astrology of the world from the perspective of the astrological ages suggests that the first age-empire that will pioneer Aquarius (democracy) as its primary ethos cannot appear in the world before the arrival of the Capricorn age in 3581 when the empire of the Aquarius-Capricorn age will manifest. In thousands of years’ time, the USA will be looked back at as the key stepping stone from the kindergarten democracy of Ancient Athens and the more democratic-orientated world of the post-3581 world. The USA fulfills the role of elementary or formative democracy only, while the ancient Athenians grappled with their very basic and rudimentary democracy – killing Socrates in the process!
The problem with the USA as the empire of the Pisces-Aquarius age is that Aquarius sits at the 12th house position to Pisces and the 12th house is basically an unfavorable house and suggests significant self-made problems associated with Aquarius democracy and fascism. There is something about Aquarius that unsettles Pisces, and I believe that these three periods of discord associated with the speaker elections of the House of Representatives demonstrate the difficulty the USA has with Aquarius. Most astrologers are brainwashed into thinking that the Age of Aquarius will introduce to the world a Pisces’ heaven, but Aquarius has its own agenda based on Aquarius archetypes – and Aquarius archetypes have nothing to do with peace, mysticism, rainbows or love.
High up on Aquarius’ totem pole of archetypes sits disruption and extremism. Examples of such disruption and extremism under the current Aquarius micro-age decan (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) include the election of Donald Trump as president of the USA and Britain’s exit from the European Union. The recent massive international social disruption and supply chain disruptions due to the Covid pandemic is another example of the current Aquarius period – especially its overflow commencing in December 2019. Another example of Aquarius is the Russian invasion of Ukraine disrupting energy and food supplies around the world. China is now experiencing massive disruption in its society due to the sudden deregulation of its former draconian policies toward Covid.
Despite the extremism and disruption associated with Aquarius, any historical analysis of the world since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius also promotes freedom, liberty and democracy – but at every step of the way, there are barking mad dogs trying to upset the apple cart such as Putin in Ukraine, Trump in America, and all the other clones around the world. Despite the rabid mad dogs of the 20th century, the world did not ultimately succumb to the fascist and communist extremists and currently, more and more countries are slowly moving to the democratic camp. Ukraine is an example of one recent arrival embracing the positive side of the Age of Aquarius.
The Republican extremists in the US House of Representatives who delayed the election of the speaker is merely one of many instances of extremists trying to either gain power, or more power. Based on a number of commentators, there is a perception that these Republican extremists, if they don’t get their own way, want to wreck as much as possible as extremists do not like democracy, they prefer their minority political views instead. It’s one of the ironies of politics that Aquarius breeds nutcase extremists and democracy with the same breath!
If we want to understand the real Age of Aquarius, and not the delusionary Piscean view of the Age of Aquarius, we need to closely examine the backbone of the Age of Aquarius, and the world is experiencing one of these Aquarius vertebrae now. The current Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow is the most powerful experience of Aquarius that any baby boomer or younger generations have experienced to date. You don’t want to miss the experience of examining our current Aquarius backbone as these are usually once-in-a-generation opportunity?
The US House of Representatives speaker debacle is part of this Aquarius backbone in action, and no matter how many battles the forces of darkness wage and even win against the incoming Aquarian tide of freedom and democracy, freedom and democracy are due to win the war – but not in our lifetimes, century or even this millennia. Most of the changes that most progressives want now will eventually arrive, but it’s a long slow process though surges do appear infrequently or unexpectantly – especially when Aquarius is involved.
Though I have glossed over Gemini in favor of Aquarius, Gemini may have a supporting role? When Gemini is strong, truth, honesty and ethics are weak as Sagittarius is in detriment in a Gemini period. Certainly, under the influence of the current Gemini micro-age (2014 – 2029) we have seen the dilution of facts into counter-facts to such an extent, that a significant minority of society will accept any information peddled on the internet or from a political grifter as the gospel truth if it aligns with their distorted outlook on life. This must be expected for a very long time, as the strongest sign in the world for a very long time remains Pisces, as we are in the Pisces-Aquarius age.
Our current Gemini influence has witnessed the rise of conspiracy theories to its highest level in recent times, and the conspiracy epidemic is parallel to the Covid pandemic. The rejection of Trump’s electoral loss is one of these counter-facts, and the recent impasse in the US House of Representatives is apparently spearheaded by these anti-fact troglodytes. Bad habits by the age-empire of our times spread like a stench, and the recent assault upon democracy by rioters in Brazil when they invaded their governmental buildings is a good example. This is the price of democracy – the weirdos get to be the focus every once in a while, especially if Aquarius is involved, but this is a small price to pay to live in a democratic-orientated country and not under a Putin-styled thug. At least the Ukrainians understand this clearly where the biggest contemporary battle of the Aquarian age is currently taking place! The spread of freedom and democracy is the major focus of the Age of Aquarius. We need to understand that we sit only about 500 years within this war for democracy that will play out over the next four and a half thousand years! It’s extremely early days in this war, so expectations should not be too high, and many battles will be lost before the war is finally won!
A pica-age is an oxymoron because for an astrological age of some 2140-60 years, a 5-week pica-age is anything but an age. The term remains useful because a pica-age is derived from an astrological age, but it’s very unlikely that anyone will discover a smaller period associated with an astrological age – a pica-age appears to be the end of the line when drilling down within any astrological age such as the Age of Aquarius.
However, while pica-ages are mainly a curiosity factor, they do sometimes come into focus, and though they may have limited astrological worth, there are tantalizing indications that they can perform. Recently, we perhaps have been witnessing the manifestation of a Gemini pica-age and overflow (Nov 22 – Dec 22 – Jan 23) with the takeover of Twitter by Elon Musk. Musk came to a buyout agreement with Twitter on 25th April 2022 and after some shenanigans, Musk took control on 27th October 2022.[1] This confrontational period between Musk and Twitter appropriately occurred under the Sagittarius nano-age decan and overflow (Jan – Oct 2022) because the strongest association with Twitter is Gemini, and Sagittarius suggests opposition, and so this defined the basically hostile and confrontational nature of Musk’s takeover.
Within a few days, Musk sacked Twitter’s management and commenced a short period of personally managing Twitter, but following an online poll where 57.5% of respondents said Musk should go, Musk indicated on 21st December 2022 that he would resign his role. It is this period of Elon Musk at the helm in November and December 2022 that coincides with the Gemini pica-age (Nov 2022 – Jan 2023) see Table 1. This Gemini pica-age exists within a Scorpio nano-age (Jun 2022 – Aug 2023), but this is just one of twelve nano-ages in the Gemini micro-age (Dec 2104 – Nov 2029) see Table 1.
Table 1 – The Gemini micro-age (Dec 2014 – Nov 2029) broken down into its 12 nano-ages and overflows, with the Scorpio nano-age and overflow highlighted in yellow
For some other possible correlations to pica-ages in 2022, see the Appendix at the end of this post.
A micro-age has clout, so what would otherwise be an insignificant Gemini pica-age can be raised out of the swamp due to its resonance with the Gemini micro-age. This is how astrological ages are constructed. Subperiods all the way down to pica-ages will have varying strengths, and those that resonate with stronger periods are the ones that will make the biggest splashes. It is this splash approach that I am going to apply to the pica-ages in 2023 – see Table 2 below.
Table 2 – Pica-ages and overflows in 2023
The level of uncertainty related to the timeframe of a pica-age is high. The astrological ages and all their sub-periods are not like the movement of planets that can be accurately gauged. All borders for all ages and sub-periods are imaginary lines, and furthermore, the underlying creator of the astrological ages and sub-periods is due to the precession of the equinoxes. Precession is not linear but wobbles around because of the gravitational tug of the moon, other planets and so on. It is very possible that some of these pica- ages are squashed far smaller than 5 weeks, or stretched out much longer than 5 weeks. Alternatively, their position may be shifted wholesale to an earlier or later timeframe. It is also possible that precession temporarily changes direction and instead of its normal retrograde motion, it may temporarily travel forward through the sidereal zodiac due to the jerky mechanics of precession. If this is the case, it may have meant that the world entered the Age of Aquarius more than once while temporarily returning to the Age of Pisces? The advanced mathematics of precession is beyond my scope, so we will have to wait for an expert to turn their attention to this issue for resolution.
Based on the uncertainty associated with the mechanics of precession of the equinoxes, my approach to calibrating pica-ages is to assume they are perfectly linear but allow for uncertainty as to their exact borders in time. With regard to the Gemini pica-age in question, it could have started in October, or as late as even December – or even further afield? Therefore we have to handle pica-ages like electrons. When scientists are working with electrons, they are working with probability, as they usually can never be certain where an electron is at any time, and if they do momentarily measure its position, they cannot determine its velocity. Electrons, protons, neutrons and so on are not miniature solar systems because everything is fuzzy. The quantum world is a messy place, and pica-ages are the equivalent of the quantum world in macro-astrology. We have to treat pica-ages like blobs with all of their surfaces and dimensions elastic.
Most of the pica-ages in Table 2 do not require any analysis here. If any of the above pica-ages sit at the end of a nano-age decan or nano-age, their astrological analysis is available in 2023 In the Age of Aquarius. This applies to the following pica-ages:
Pisces pica-age and overflow (Feb – Apr – May 2023
Sagittarius pica-age and overflow (Jun – Jul – Aug 2023)
Scorpio pica-age and overflow (Jul – Aug – Oct 2023)
Cancer pica-age and overflow (Nov 2023 – Dec 2023 – Jan 2024)
Of the remaining pica-ages, those that do not resonate with a parent period will be ignored. This does not mean they may not have an identifiable astrological effect, but they are unlikely to have a pronounced effect due to their lack of resonance. This applies to the following pica ages with some suggested possible effects, if any can be detected:
Taurus – stock market stability?
Aries – aggression, war and conflict? Meteor or asteroid strike or volcanic eruption?
Capricorn – conservatism, doom and gloom, Russia
Virgo – public health issues and workers
Leo – royalty, financial stability, children, UK, gold
Therefore the only pica ages we need to examine in detail in 2023 are Aquarius and Gemini.
Aquarius
Gemini
Aquarius pica-age and overflow (Apr – May – Jun 2023) resonates with the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) – see Table 3 below. This will stimulate extremists, more Russian extremism, quests for freedoms and democracy, ongoing supply-chain disruptions from either the Ukraine invasion or Covid, and even unexpected cold-snaps or something out of the blue – as to be expected from Aquarius. Also, any antagonism towards Leo archetypes such as monarchs, royal families, children and business activities may be higher than normal.
Table 3 – Nano-ages within the Gemini micro-age including micro-age decans with the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow highlighted
It should be noted that the Aquarius micro-age and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) see Table 3, that this little Aquarius pica age resonates with, is the first Aquarius period larger than a nano-age that all Baby Boomers and later generations have experienced in their lives to date. What Baby Boomers never had first-hand experience of in their lives until December 2014 was the direct experience of any serious air element period in their lives. Baby Boomers were limited to the Sagittarius (1940 – 1955 – 1970), Scorpio (1955 – 1970 – 1985), Virgo (1970 – 1985 – 2000) and Leo (1985 – 2000 – 2014) and Cancer (2000 – 2014 – 2029) micro-ages and overflows, and taking into account the three decans associated with each of these micro-ages, Baby Boomers had only experienced 9 of the 12 signs, leaving air element signs to the post-2014 world. This is when the world went ‘strange’. First, there was Brexit in the UK where the British shot themselves in the foot, and then Trump appeared like a rabbit out of a magician’s hat. As a second act, Covid appeared followed by the largest conflict in Europe since the Second World War.
Aquarius promotes political extremists such as fascism and communism, and the 20th century’s Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 1925 – 1940) produced the worst leaders that the world has had the misfortune to experience to date – and ultimately the death of well over 100,000 million people. Under the current Aquarius micro-age and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) we have neo-fascists like Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin with many hangers-on such as Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil and Boris Johnson in the UK – though to be fair, Johnson was more like the buffoon neo-fascist but was still able to harness the UK’s latent racism or unfounded superiority complex.
Trump trying to overturn the results of the 2021 presidential elections was classic fascist behavior, as fascists hate democracy and instead extol the virtues of an omnipotent-type alpha male leader where force rules and persecution of minorities is the modus operandi. However, those people enchanted by these fascist-orientated leaders behave as if the messiah has come. It was not until the rise of Trump that I was able to understand why in the 1920s and 30s much of the German public threw themselves behind one of the evilest leaders the world has experienced to date.
Most people alive today will not again see such a strong dose of Aquarius such as we have been experiencing in the period December 2014 to November 2024 but it is a foretaste of what lies ahead. Any Aquarius sub-period is enhanced and energized in the Age of Aquarius. Currently, the world is in the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2149) and one of the three decans of the Libra sub-age is the Aquarius sub-age decan and overflow (2029 – 2088 – 2149). While Aquarius will not be the key sign for most of 21st century (this is assigned to Gemini), it will still be a major player, and arrives in 2029 – but as a broad background influence! Our Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) is a primer for evolving conditions over the rest of this century – particularly towards the end. Regardless of the many disruptions and extremism that Aquarius brings, it is the sign of excitement!
Gemini pica-age and overflow (Dec 2023 – Jan 2024) does not activate its overflow period in 2023, but we may have some kind of replay of an internet drama similar to Musk’s takeover of Twitter in 2022? Anything to do with the internet, scams, and cyberattacks could appear. It does not promote a good economic environment but does promote electric vehicles with Aquarius supplying the electricity. This small Gemini period is worth examining as Gemini is the key sign for most of the 21st century due to the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088) with its most impactful time 2029 and beyond. The world remains in the T-Model Ford stage of cell phones and mobile devices but graduates in 2029.
Gemini is difficult for Cancer, as Gemini sits in the woeful 12th house position to Gemini. This means that Cancer orientated countries and regions such as China, the Middle East, Islamic nations, Russia etc. are in for difficult times. Even the Gemini pica-age and overflow (Nov 22 – Dec 22 – Jan 22) has demonstrated that when it comes to Russia, the king has no clothes. Cancer rules fresh water, so expect difficulties surrounding adequate water supplies – though Gemini will whip up very powerful windstorms. The harnessing of wind for energy will be a major push in energy supply – good time to buy shares in wind farms?
This research on pica-ages remains in the exploratory stage. I am assuming that those pica-ages that do not resonate with a larger period or are the end point of a period are either irrelevant or inconsequential. I will use 2023 as the experimental year for nano-ages. Ultimately, nano-ages probably will provide insufficient astrological relevance, but remain a quirky point of interest?
Appendix
Another possible correlation between the 2022 pica ages and notable events was the death of Queen Elizabeth 11 on 8 September 2022. This occurred very close to the beginning of the Scorpio nano-age (Jun 2022 – Aug 2023) which speaks for itself. It also occurred appropriately in a Leo pica age and overflow (Aug – Nov 2022) taking into account the innate stress that existed with this Leo-royalty pica-age and the Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024). Born on 21st April 1926, Queen Elizabeth 11 was born in an Aquarius-Capricorn generation. The Capricorn element may have contributed to her extraordinarily long reign and stoic personality, while the Aquarius element subjected her to the conservative monarchy’s clash with modernity? Whatever the case, this Aquarius-Capricorn generation had to withstand or succumb to Aquarius’s fascism and communism and Capricorn’s miserable world created by the devastation of the Second World War and its aftereffects.
The massive military exercise around Taiwan by the Chinese armed forces in early August 2022 following a visit by Nancy Pelosi coincided with the Libra pica age and overflow (Jun – Aug 2022) with Libra a key sign for China, and this Libra resonates with the Libra micro-age decan (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) and Libra sub-age (1970 – 2149) so it has some very powerful support. The backdown by the Chinese government over its draconian anti-Covid policies in early December 2022 was most likely associated with the Gemini pica-age and overflow (Nov 22 – Jan 23) with this pica-age resonating with the Gemini micro-age (Dec 2014 – Nov 2029), and with Gemini in 12th house adverse aspect to China’s Cancer. This may be a foretaste for much of the 21st century, as the dominant sub-age decan in play for the 21st century is Gemini with Gemini bad news for all Cancer-orientated nations and regions.
The most significant development within the Age of Aquarius in 2023 is the transfer of energy from the Sagittarius nano-age overflow to the Scorpio nano-age overflow with the fulcrum month August 2023. However, for the first two-thirds of 2023, the focus is more firmly placed on the Sagittarius nano-age overflow (Jun 2022 – Aug 2023) in its ongoing momentum that commenced in earnest in June 2022 (see Table 1). A fairly comprehensive analysis of how the Sagittarius nano-age overflow played out in 2022 is available at Did You Perceive the Age of Aquarius in 2022?. In summary, Sagittarius promotes international travel, good fortune and inflation among key concepts.
Table 1 – the relevant nano-ages, nano-age overflows and associated nano-age decans (NAD). While predictions are based mainly on the overflow periods in this table, the initial period will always manifest.
Sagittarius also promotes honesty and truth, and with this Sagittarius nano-age overflow influencing most of 2023, we should get some temporary respite from the pandemic of lies and conspiracy theories permeating the world due to the Gemini micro-age (2014 – 2029) (see Table 2). This Sagittarius influence probably contributed to the rejection of the lies of Donald Trump and his acolytes by a significant minority of the US electorate in the November 2022 midterm elections in the USA as middle-of-the-road voters rejected outlandish claims of stolen elections.
Countries that have shown a leaning towards Sagittarius include: Australia, India, Laos, Spain, the United Kingdom, and possibly Vatican City. It was recently announced that India will overtake China in 2023 as the most populated country in the world. Australia received a boost in May 2022 at almost the peak of the Sagittarius nano-age and overflow (Mar 2021 – Jun 2022 – Aug 2023) with the election of a left-wing government replacing an out-of-touch conservative government that did not seem to understand that 50% of the electorate were females. The mood of the country seems to have significantly improved due to a less confrontational government.
Table 2 – the Gemini micro-age & micro-age decans (and Cancer micro-age overflow)
However, the Sagittarius nano-age overflow (Jun 2022 – Aug 2023) sits in a Sea of Gemini associated not just with the Gemini micro-age (2014 – 2029), but also the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088). This fairly massive Gemini sub-age decan has already transformed our lives with most of the world fixated, if not addicted, to their mobile communication devices and loads of emails inundating everyone’s inboxes every day. It’s just an unfortunate consequence of Gemini that it also promotes thieves and liars. Online scams seem to be increasing at an exponential rate, and numerous politicians around the world have jumped on Trump’s bandwagon of lies, and have granted lies the status of alternate facts. It seems that constant repetition of lies can transform them into facts! This is merely confirmation of the extent the world remains very medieval under the Pisces age overflow (1433 – 3581) – despite the inroads the Age of Aquarius has made upon our world since its arrival in the 15th century. Medievalism is far more entrenched in the world than nearly everyone realizes because we are dazzled by the advances of technology while socio-political advances lag behind.
Our small respite from Gemini under the Sagittarius nano-age overflow will not last long – Gemini still has its training wheels on ready for its time of dominance commencing in 2029 when it enters its more powerful overflow period extending to 2089. One key role that Gemini is given is to reign in the excesses of the world created by the expansionary Sagittarius sub-age and over (1612 – 1791 – 1970) that brought us most of the international maritime discoveries and travel, the Industrial Revolution and population explosion. Population researchers are already expecting the world’s population will be falling by around the end of this Gemini sub-age decan. When it comes to Gemini, we haven’t really seen its might yet. But Gemini is not a specific focus for 2023.
Table 3 – Sub-ages since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius with the Sagittarius sub-age and overflow highlighted in red’.
It is also important to understand that each astrological age, including the Age of Aquarius, has 1,728 nano-ages of almost 15 months each, and 5,184 nano-age decans. Only one in twelve of these small periods will be ruled by Aquarius. The concept of a monolithic Aquarian age is absolute nonsense. You may think that a 15-month nano-age is a ridiculous concept, not to mention a five-month nano-age decan, but each nano-age and nano-age decan has widely varying strengths and influences compared to its neighbors. It is the summation of all these differences that produce an astrological age. For example, the current Sagittarius nano-age overflow cannot be expected to overly perform due to its residence in a Gemini sea.
Cancer nano-age decan overflow (Nov 2022 – Apr 2023)
Before the world encounters the Scorpio nano-age overflow later in 2023, it must first deal with the Cancer nano-age decan overflow straddling the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023. The Cancer nano-age decan overflow (Nov 2022 – Apr 2023) is a more powerful nano-age than average as it resonates with the Cancer micro-age and overflow (Feb 2000 – Dec 2014 – Nov 2029) that has been setting the pace for the start of the 21st century. Cancer was a significant contributor to the Covid pandemic due to the Cancer micro-age and overflow which experienced its most potent quarter from December 2014 to June 2022. Cancer is often associated with plagues as Cancer is linked to the immune system because Cancer is a defensive sign without a backbone. We can expect that Covid may have a late resurgence or Monkey Pox or something similar makes a temporary impact. Already a surge in cases has been noted around the world in the last few months of 2022.
Many Cancer archetypes should be revitalized by this small but potent Cancer nano-age decan overflow (Nov 2022 – Apr 2023) due to its resonance with the larger Cancer period. We can expect a temporary resurgence of Russia in its aggression, as Cancer is a significant component in Russia’s astrological signature. Already in November 2022, Russia has increased its bombardments of Ukrainian infrastructure. This Cancer period may also increase the stakes in the Middle East, Mediterranean Sea, Islam, China and Scandinavia to name some Cancer-aligned countries or regions. Chinese demonstrators against prohibitive anti-Covid measures actually experienced a relaxation of onerous government regulations in early December 2022. Consequently, it is believed hundreds of millions of Chinese have caught Covid in December 2022 alone. The tensions between Turkey and the Kurds in neighboring Syria following a bomb blast in Istanbul is again on the rise. Ferment is increasing in Iran due to the heavy hands of the morality police. Following some relatively unprecedented unrest opposing ultra-strict government policy against women, demonstrators are being executed. Afghanistan is tightening its draconian noose against women to ensure they remain third-class citizens. The correct perspective on human society is that we are still coming out of the caves and a really modern world lies some millennia in the future. The modernity associated with Aquarius will not peak until the period 3581 – 4654, so everything before that time is really a period of struggle for modernity. This is seriously being played out in Ukraine.
Apart from a possible stronger focus on Russia and China, Islamic extremists, the Middle East, and a new mini-surge of refugees looking for a new (Cancer) homeland could make a slightly bigger impact compared to the last few years. The USA is again experiencing a surge in refugees from Latin America, and three busloads of migrants were dumped at Vice President Kamala Harris’ home on Christmas Eve, 2022. The buses are believed to have come from Texas indicating the heat associated with refugees in this Cancer period. Cancer plays a key role in the UK, Canada and New Zealand. All these areas have been greatly energized by Cancer, with 9/11 near the beginning of the Cancer micro-age dramatically demonstrating its presence. Even following the Cancer micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2022 – Apr 2023), Cancer’s ongoing influence will remain in place until the end of this decade at least – but not at the same intensity as we have been experiencing for the last 22 years. Of course, the slow subsidence of Cancer does create a vacuum of sorts, and this vacuum is being filled by Gemini over the medium term, but Gemini is not overly accentuated in 2023 due to the appearance of Sagittarius. The aggressive takeover of Twitter by Elon Musk is associated with the opposition of Sagittarius to Gemini’s online communication services.
Pisces nano-age decan overflow (Apr 2023 – August 2023)
The pro-Russia (and pro-Chinese) focus (for better or worse) associated with the Cancer nano-age decan overflow (Nov 2022 – Apr 2023) will be quickly replaced by a pro-Europe and pro-USA focus with the arrival of the Pisces nano-age decan overflow (Apr 2023 – Aug 2023). However, while Pisces is a key sign for Europe and the USA, Europe usually splits under the two fish, so there could be some greater amount of internal dissent in Europe for a short time. Pisces rules the oceans, so perhaps we receive further input on the deterioration of the oceans due to climate change as a result of pollution – or maybe something else about oceans makes the headlines? Pisces specifically rules the Pacific Ocean and all of Polynesia. Pisces is also associated with oil and associated products, pharmaceuticals and drugs.
It is always worth taking note of any Pisces period as Pisces is the strongest sign in the world in the first half of the Age of Aquarius at least, so we may get another reminder about just how medieval the world remains in 2023? Technology does not negate medievalism – if anything, technology can extend medievalism as the likes of Trump Twitter their nonsense to a small but rapturous audience. The astrology of the ages indicates we live in the Age of Techno-Medievalism with the consequence that we now have the ability to destroy the world through Aquarius technological developments, but politics and societies remain mired in a medieval perspective such as clearly demonstrated by Trump supporters in the USA – the leading Pisces country in the world. Russia is even more medieval.
Under Pisces, in place of clarity and rationality, the world relies too much on emotion and knee-jerk reactions. Pisces never promotes clarity but it does produce idealists who unfortunately are usually underpinned by fantasy – such as the unfounded golden age associated with the Age of Aquarius that has been trumpeted by astrologers over the last century but is a figment of out-of-control imagination by people hypnotized by (Pisces) fantasy. The actual reality of the world is that it fuddles along, and it is truly amazing that many things are improving if people would only take the time to notice. However, more and more people are perceiving the incongruities in the world, which is contributing to the feeling of depression sweeping through social media – which is just as much a pandemic as Covid – not to mention conspiracy theories.
Scorpio nano-age overflow (Aug 2023 – Nov 2024)
The arrival of the Scorpio nano-age overflow (Aug 2023 – Nov 2024) will significantly change whatever remnant optimistic outlook provided by the Sagittarius nano-age overflow leading up to August 2023. Scorpio suggests that in late 2023, the world should move from (Sagittarius) inflationary economics to a more standard recession, with money shortages, banking problems and so on, but nothing like the level or length of the Global Recession of 2008 – 09, though in reality, the Global Recession slowed down the world economy for many years. The Global Recession was associated with the far stronger and longer Scorpio micro-age decan and overflow (2005 -2010 – 2014) – so while the present Scorpio nano-age overflow may bring some economic turmoil, it is limited in size and scope as it is only powered by a nano-age. The Bitcoin collapse of late 2022 is a foretaste of things to come as though the Scorpio nano-age overflow is stronger, the Scorpio nano-age commenced in June 2022 providing some Scorpio theatrics in the lead-up to August 2023. I have previously noted that Bitcoin is the canary in the mine, and therefore Bitcoin is the first to turn foul under the appearance of Scorpio. (see Is Bitcoin the Canary in the Mine? )
Unfortunately, Scorpio is the main sign associated with all things nuclear, including nuclear weapons. This small Scorpio nano-age is more powerful than an average nano-age because it resonates with the massive multi-century Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2149) – see Table 3. Scorpio is a major sign of influence in the world, so we can expect more from this small Scorpio nano-age and overflow than what normally would be expected. This is reinforced by the fact that the most powerful time of the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2149) is the period 1970 to 2059 (equivalent to the third quarter). Therefore it must be unfortunately assumed that the use of nuclear weapons in the world under this small Scorpio period has a much higher probability than normal – but it cannot be construed as a foregone conclusion. Under the Scorpio nano-age and overflow, this Scorpio is even more potent than when the nuclear bombs were dropped on Japan towards the end of the Second World War. This is also a risky time for nuclear accidents.
Japan is strongly associated with Scorpio, and so it should come as no surprise that Japan plans to restart seven nuclear reactors by the summer of 2023 following their shutdown in 2011 after the Fukushima disaster of 11 March. This incident occurred at the high point of the Scorpio micro-age decan and overflow (Jan 2005 – Jan 2010 – Dec 2014) with January 2010 to July 2012 as the most potent time for Scorpio. Other countries and entities associated with Scorpio include: France, Germany, Indonesia and the Roman Catholic Church and therefore there could be some extra focus on these during the Scorpio nano-age and especially the Scorpio nano-age overflow commencing in August 2023.
Other issues associated with previous Scorpio nano-ages include significant deaths and assassinations, aircraft crashes, anything to do with DNA, sex, sexual orientations, cloning and digital media. Certainly, digital media is irrevocably linked to the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2089), but an overlooked element of digital media is its virtual total lack of physical solidness (Taurus) as nearly everything devolves to fleeting digital images based on electronic bits and bytes. Our digital world is as far away from sensual Taurus Ancient Egypt that is possible.
Of course, as each month passes leading to August 2023, Scorpio is growing in strength. Following its first appearance in June 2022, it increases in power in January 2023 with the arrival of the Scorpio quasi nano-age (Jan 2023 – Apr 2024) and quasi periods always represent the upper and middle half of any period plus its overflow. An investigation of previous Scorpio nano-age and overflows is available at the end of this post.
Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2021 – Nov 2024 – Nov 2029)
Even with all the power of Scorpio hovering over 2023 with its ominous nuclear threat, it is the growing strength of the background Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024 – Nov 2029) that is the real source of concern, as Libra correlates to most of the greatest conflicts the world has experienced since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius. (See The Next BIG Thing). The association between Venus/Libra and war and conflict extends back many millennia – Ishtar, the forerunner of Venus, was also the goddess of war three and four thousand years ago.
At a minimum, between now and the end of this decade, Libra should bring to the world the most significant conflict since the Second World War. Already, the Russian invasion of Ukraine has become the biggest conflict in Europe since the Second World War. So it’s just one more step for it to become the biggest conflict in the world since the Second World War – and the addition of nuclear weapons into the conflict is a highly likely catalyst. It’s also possible that this approaching mega conflict will be an entirely different theater – China’s demands over Taiwan, Iran, North Korea and the normal assortment of misfit governments could also create the necessary deteriorating conditions for this looming disaster – anything is possible in our Pisces medieval world. However, historically, Libra periods usually (but not always) represent the most powerful nations in two camps and in conflict with each other and their allies – so we must assume a high likelihood of the USA versus China, one way or another.
The manifestation of this major conflict will get another boost in 2023 with the arrival of the Libra nano-age (Aug 2023 – Nov 2024), and though this does not automatically portend the arrival of the expected major conflict in 2023, it certainly raises the stake. However, Libra periods are excellent for the promotion or focus on females. I recently undertook a massive amount of research into Libra sub-periods since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius, and it is worth noting that the first age-decan in the Age of Aquarius is the Libra age-decan (1433 – 2149) – but its full strength will be the Libra age-decan overflow (2149 – 2865). This suggests that one of the main focuses in the current millennium will be the elevation of females to the equal status of males. Socio-political change is much slower than people realize as, in today’s world, everyone wants everything now – like a spoilt child.
A major focus in the first two-thirds of the Age of Aquarius (1433 – 3581) is the Libra age-decan and overflow (1433 – 2149 – 2865) and the world is fast approaching the pointy end of this Libra stick in 2149. Already the world is in the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2149) and so one of the main foci of Libra is female rights. For example, while repressive forces in Iran, Afghanistan and elsewhere may win battle after battle in keeping their females persecuted and subjugated, the women will win the war. This war will probably engulf most of the current millennium. Idealists want everything, and they want it now, but astrology indicates the slow pace of change that advances, such as female emancipation and democracy in general are subjected.
Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024)
Another key player of these times is the Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) as Aquarius is the greatest disruptive sign in the zodiac – see Table 2. Aquarius partnered with Cancer (and Capricorn) to bring the world the Covid pandemic. More people in the world were disrupted by the pandemic to a greater level compared to anything else since the end of the Second World War. The supply-chain disruptions that have played havoc in 2022 can probably be relied upon to continue into 2023 as also COVID-19 should maintain a presence in the world until around November 2024 with just enough energy to continue its disruption – but at a reduced level as there is no additional activation of Aquarius in 2023 – but it remains potent in the background.
Of course, with Aquarius sitting within Russia’s astrological signature, it ensures that Russia always seems to be the odd country out, and when it changes, it seems to prefer extremes. For example, it dawdled with monarchical rule way beyond the norms of the time, and then lurched like a drunkard to communism. After a very brief sojourn with the semblance of democracy, it is back to its autocratic roots and thuggish undertones. While the Aries nano-age decan overflow at the beginning of 2022 precipitated the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Aquarius influence has powered Russia in its self-proclaimed quest to repeat the achievement of Peter the Great – but replaced by Putin the Pathetic.
Conclusion
Will 2023 be the year of out-of-the-frying-pan-into-the-fire? Scorpio is a difficult sign, if not the most difficult of the zodiac signs, and it is situated under the shadow of the Aquarius micro-age overflow which promotes extremes, disruption and abnormal behavior. However, Aquarius also promotes freedom and equality on a good day, and we have seen this manifest recently at the FIFA World Cup with protests against the host nation’s draconian anti-homosexuality laws. Even some Chinese have taken to the streets complaining about the draconian anti-pandemic rules imposed upon them with Chinese authorities subsequently reducing their onerous conditions upon the Chinese population. The default for the world is that conservatives always hold the power or significant influence and it takes much effort and time to overcome this entrenched conservative reality. This is an extremely long and slow process, and what most idealists would like to see in their lifetime is unlikely to occur for centuries – if not millennium. Some small improvements can be made each decade – but not necessarily in each and every decade.
The world currently is a messy place, and usually is a messy place. It fuddles along, and even without recourse to astrology, many conclusions can be made about what we can expect in the world. Based on the track record, we should expect a combination of fortunate and unfortunate developments each and every year and decade, and since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in the 15th century, the fortunate developments slightly outnumber the unfortunate developments, and these minor difference over the centuries has pushed the world forward towards an incrementally more civilized world, despite monsters such as Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot and now Putin – not to mention a multitude of petty atavistic leaders that always seem to be lurking somewhere in our Techno-medieval world.
Aquarius and Scorpio are not middle-of-the-road signs, so we should expect more than average intensity in 2023, especially in the last third of the year when Scorpio reaches its strongest potential. There is a coincidence in 2023, as Pluto enters tropical Aquarius. Will this reinforce the fact that in 2023 both Aquarius and Scorpio are prominent signs based on the Scorpio nano-age and overflow and Aquarius micro-age decan overflow? Aquarius does like to begin with an unexpected bang, so 2023 may be a year to watch closely.
The above astrological perspective on 2023 is focused upon sub-periods of the Age of Aquarius. These sub-periods are primarily:
Nano-ages (approx. 15 months) with 12 nano-ages in each micro-age
Micro-age-decans (approx. 5 years) with 3 micro-age decans in each micro-age
Micro-ages (almost 15 years) with 12 micro-ages in a sub-age
Quasi-periods such as quasi-nano ages, quasi micro-age decan, quasi micro-ages etc. are all derived from their core period. For example, the Cancer quasi micro-age (Jul 2007 – Jun 2022 ) is derived from the Cancer micro-age and overflow (Feb 2000 – Dec 2014 – Nov 2029) commencing at the exact midpoint of the Cancer micro-age (Jul 2007) and concluding at the exact midpoint of the following Gemini micro-age (Jun 2022)
For brevity’s sake, only the Scorpio nano-age overflows will be examined. The Scorpio periods investigated are:
Scorpio nano-age overflow (Jan 2010 – Apr 2011)
Scorpio nano-age overflow (May 1996 – Aug 1997)
Scorpio nano-age overflow (Oct 1982 – Jan 1984)
Scorpio nano-age overflow (May 1970 – Aug 1971)
Scorpio nano-age overflow (Nov 1941 – Feb 1943)
Economy
Scorpio nano-age overflow (Jan 2010 – Apr 2011) – Bad economic news is common in these Scorpio nano-age overflows. In April 2010, Standard & Poor’s downgraded Greece’s sovereign credit rating to junk four days after the activation of a massive EU–IMF bailout, triggering the decline of stock markets worldwide and the collapse of the Euro, exacerbating the European sovereign debt crisis of those times. The following month experienced the 2010 Flash Crash, a trillion-dollar stock market crash over just 36 minutes, initiated by a series of automated trading programs in a feedback loop. In November 2010, the European Union agreed to an €85 billion rescue deal for Ireland. Over February and March 2010, uncertainty over Libyan oil output caused crude oil prices to rise 20% over a two-week period following the Arab Spring, creating the 2011 energy crisis. The Global Financial Crisis was not limited to this small Scorpio nano-age overflow is it was situated in the larger and far more powerful Scorpio micro-age decan overflow (Jan 2010 – Dec 2014)
Scorpio nano-age overflow (May 1996 – Aug 1997) – In July 1997, the Bank of Thailand floated the baht, triggering the Asian financial crisis that gripped much of East Asia and Southeast Asia and raised fears of a worldwide economic meltdown due to financial contagion. However, the recovery in 1998–1999 was rapid and an international meltdown was avoided.
Scorpio nano-age overflow (May 1970 – Aug 1971) – In February 1971, Rolls-Royce was declared bankrupt and was nationalized by the UK government. May 1971 saw the U.S. dollar flood the European currency markets and especially threatened the Deutsche Mark resulting in the central banks of Austria, Belgium, Netherlands and Switzerland stopping currency trading. In August 1971 the USA announced that they would no longer convert dollars to gold at a fixed value, effectively ending the Bretton Woods system. A 90-day freeze on wages, prices and rents was also imposed.
Nuclear Issues
Scorpio nano-age overflow ( Jan 2010 – April 2011) – Fukushima disaster in Japan. This was more powerful than a normal Scorpio nano-age as it sits within the Scorpio micro-age decan and overflow (Jan 2005 – Jan 2010 – Dec 2014).
Scorpio nano-age overflow (May 1996 – Aug 1997) – In June 1996 Iraq continued to refuse access by inspectors to a number of sites as Iraq was widely assumed to have been producing and extensively running the programs of biological, chemical and nuclear weapons. In September 1996 was the signing of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT). In June 1983 there was a total loss of coolant at the Embalse Nuclear Power Station, Argentina. It was classified as an “Accident With Local Consequences” – level 4 on the International Nuclear Event Scale. July 1983 experienced a technical failure at the German Philippsburg Nuclear Power Plant resulting in the release of iodine-131.
Scorpio nano-age overflow (Oct 1982 – Jan 1984) – In September 1983 there was a Soviet nuclear false alarm incident when a Soviet military officer averted a worldwide nuclear war by correctly identifying a warning of attack by U.S. missiles as a false alarm. November 1983 saw the last nuclear scare of the Cold War when many Soviet officials misinterpreted a NATO exercise as a nuclear first strike. In July 1970 the French Army detonated a 914-kiloton thermonuclear device in the Mururoa Atoll. It was the fifth in a series that started on June 15 in their program to perfect a hydrogen bomb small enough to be delivered by a missile.
Scorpio nano-age overflow (May 1970 – Aug 1971) – February 1971 saw the USA, UK, USSR and others sign the Seabed Treaty, which outlawed nuclear weapons on the ocean floor.
Scorpio micro-age (1955 – 1970) – The greatest number of nuclear incidents the world has experienced to date was the whole of the 1960s with eight incidents that might have led to at least one unintended nuclear detonation or explosion but did not. This is as expected as a 15-year micro-age is far more powerful than a 15-month nano-age.
Scorpio nano-age overflow (Nov 1941 – Feb 1943) – In Germany, in June 1942, an experimental early-type nuclear reactor had an accident and therefore became the first nuclear accident in history. By December 1942, the Manhattan Project initiated the first self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction. The Manhattan Project was a research and development undertaking during World War II that produced the first nuclear weapons for the Americans and used them against Japan.
Deaths
Significant deaths are also notable in these Scorpio nano-age overflows. In December 2010, the attempted suicide by a Tunisian street vendor triggered the Tunisian Revolution and the wider revolutionary Arab Spring. In August 1997 the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. December 1982 saw the first U.S. execution by lethal injection which was carried out in Texas. In August 1983, Benigno Aquino Jr., the Philippines opposition leader, was assassinated by government forces immediately after he disembarked from his plane at Manila Airport as he returned from exile. In October 1983 the Beirut barracks bombing when simultaneous suicide truck bombs destroyed both the French Army and the United States Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, killing 241 U.S. servicemen, 58 French paratroopers and 6 Lebanese civilians.
In May 1970 the infamous Kent State shootings with four students killed and nine wounded by Ohio National Guardsmen, with the students protesting against the US incursion into Cambodia. The next day a violent demonstration at Jackson State University, Mississippi, state law enforcement officers fired into the demonstrators, killing 2 and injuring 12. Jim Morrison, the lead singer of The Doors, died of heart failure in July 1971 due to a heroin overdose at the age of 27 in Paris, France. There were just too many major airplane crashes to collate and analyze, but without statistical analysis in comparison to non-Scorpio periods, it must remain anecdotal that these Scorpio periods promote higher levels of plane crashes.
Digital Media & IT
The following demonstrates the intimate relationship between digital media and Scorpio, but Scorpio does not override the influence of Aquarius electronic technology in general and Gemini’s association with communication and thus emails and social media. Scorpio’s influence upon digital media is that digital media is a sensual-free zone – its just images on a screen or digital sound. Aquarius, Gemini and Scorpio are all very active in the 21st century.
February 1971 – The Nasdaq Composite commenced in the USA orientated mainly towards companies in the IT sector.
July 1971 – The first e-book was posted online, a copy of the United States Declaration of Independence commencing Project Gutenberg.
October 1982 – Sony launched the first consumer compact disc (CD) player.
January 1983 – The migration of the ARPANET to TCP/IP was officially completed (this is considered to be the beginning of the true Internet).
March 1983 – IBM released the IBM PC XT which was their first computer with a built-in hard drive (HDD)
October 1983 – The world’s first commercial mobile cellular telephone call was made, in Chicago, United States. Multi-Tool Word was released, soon to become Microsoft Word.
January 1984 – Steve Jobs launched the Macintosh personal computer in the United States.
March 1997 – the DVD format was launched in the USA.
April 2010 – The first iPad was released
July 2010 – First (test) Instagram posts sent with the full service launched publicly on October 6 2010.
Miscellaneous
There were some other miscellaneous events and developments mainly in the field of DNA with strong associations to Scorpio that were also evident in previous nano-age overflow periods. In July 1996, Dolly the sheep was the first mammal to be successfully cloned from an adult cell. In August 1996, the first three-parent baby was conceived in New Jersey through mitochondrial donation. In July 1997, scientists reported their DNA analysis findings from a Neanderthal skeleton, which support the out-of-Africa theory of human evolution, placing an “African Eve” at 100,000 to 200,000 years ago. Doctors at the first Dutch abortion clinic started to perform abortions in February 1971.
Ephemeris
Micro-ages belonging to the first four sub-ages in the Age of Aquarius – no overflow periods displayed.
The Age of Aquarius is very long – around 2150 years. If you read discussions about the Age of Aquarius, most writers assume or presume that it is monolithic without any internal structure. Nothing could be further from the truth. Most astrologers know about decanates (decans), but this escapes the notice of many astrologers when they contemplate the astrological ages. Why would the Age of Aquarius be bereft of age-decans at a minimum?
Apart from decans, most modern astrologers have lost sight of dividing zodiac signs into 12, but the ancient Babylonians were doing this as common practice well over 2,000 years ago. They used the location of the Sun in these twelve-fold divisions of each zodiac sign as a substitute for the ascendant before the ascendant was invented by the later Hellenistic Greeks. My 35 years of research into the astrological ages has clearly demonstrated that dividing signs into 12 parts is not the end of the line – this process can be extended a number of times due to the glacial nature of the astrological ages. To perceive the Age of Aquarius in 2022, or any year, it is necessary to perceive very small parts of the Age of Aquarius because that is where the action is located.
For example, did you experience or perceive Sagittarius replacing Capricorn in 2022? Did 2022 begin with the continuation of somber Capricorn’s note of restrictions and hardship associated mainly with the Covid pandemic only to be cast aside by Sagittarius’ good fortune, especially in the sphere of the resurgence of international travel and general optimism in comparison to Covid lockdown times? This surge in international travel caught most airlines off guard, and many stories have been told of sudden cancellations of flights and the unprecedented quantity of baggage going missing.
Table 1 – The 2022 interplay between the Capricorn nano-age overflow and the Sagittarius nano-age and overflow with the crossover point June 2022. The peaking of the Scorpio nano-age and overflow will not occur until August 2023.
Russia’s heavy-handed attack on Ukraine supported the dark overtones of Capricorn that dominated the first half of 2022, reminding us of the Cold War yet again as Putin unleashed his orcs onto Ukraine – this is the typical cold hand of Capricorn at play as Capricorn stokes the forces of darkness, oppression and lack of empathy. Capricorn was also a key astrological player in the world at the height of the Cold War associated with the Capricorn micro-age overflow (1940 – 1955). Furthermore, the Age of Aquarius commenced with the Capricorn sub-age and overflow (1433 – 1612 – 1791) as a preview of the difficult times expected under the Capricorn age and overflow (3581 – 5728 – 7876). However, it should be a stunning time for scientific advances – which will probably be needed for a resource-poor world in the future.
Another strong development in 2022 associated with Sagittarius was the return of inflation after a long time of respite. Some years ago I researched economic cycles and discovered that economic problems were more likely to occur under mutable signs (Gemini, Sagittarius and Pisces) – which was rather confusing, as I and most astrologers consider the mutable sign of Sagittarius to be a positive sign – how could it be associated with negative economic woes? The best teacher of astrology is astrology and 2022 went out of its way to show me the other side of Sagittarius. Inflation is basically economic growth expanding too quickly. There is a general consensus that economic growth of 2% or 3% is highly desirable, but not 5% or more. This is how positive but expansionary Sagittarius can be instrumental in negative economic circumstances. The Republican Party in the USA were depending upon the negative perception of inflation by the electorate to help their chances in the midterm elections in early November 2022.
If you can perceive the above interface of the departure of Capricorn and the arrival of Sagittarius in 2022, you have just experienced the ever-so-slow creak and grind of the wheel of ages as the world glacially works itself through the early stages of the Age of Aquarius. Most astrologers know very little of the astrological ages and especially how they work, but the more I research them, the more it becomes obvious that a significant amount of how the world experiences the astrological ages is via very tiny nano-ages and their decans.
An age of around 2,150 years has 12 sub-ages of some 178 years, which again each have 12 micro-ages of almost 15 years each. Each of these micro-ages has 12 nano ages of approximately 15 months each, and all these periods also have their decans of almost five months each. Though I have drilled down to even a deeper level and identified pica ages of about 5 weeks each, these behave like small shimmering mirages and so the smallest useable or viable sub-period are nano-age decans (approximately 5 months long).
It is the progression of these small five-month nano-age decans and 15-month nano-ages that basically define each astrological age or allow the ages to manifest. Each nano-age or nano-age decan interfaces with the larger micro-ages, sub-ages and the full-size astrological ages and their respective decans to create what we call the Pisces age or Aquarius age. Nano-ages and their decans that resonate with larger micro-ages, sub-ages, ages or their respective decans will have more impact. It is the collective impact of variable influences at the nano-age and nano-age decan levels that ultimately define the astrological ages.
Every time the Age of Aquarius comes across an Aquarius period such as an Aquarian sub-age or sub-age decan, micro-age or micro-age decan, or nano-age or nano-age decan, these periods are going to be stronger than surrounding non-aligned periods. The world is currently under the influence of an Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) – the only strong dose of Aquarius that all Baby Boomers and later generations have experienced in their lives to date. It is only since the appearance of the current Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow that I truly could understand the calamities the world experienced under the Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 1925 – 1940) with its two world wars, Great Depression and the appearance of communism as a force to be reckoned with. This is in stark contrast to the urban myth that Aquarius should bring peace and love to the world. When did Aquarius morph into Libra?
It is understandable that astrologers long for a mythical Aquarian age where peace, love and understanding will rule the world, but this expectation is not based on evidence and is certainly not based on Aquarius. The world of astrology is very strange (it is ruled by Aquarius), and in its eccentric nature, it behaves like a fusion of academia mixed with show business. For every well-researched and detailed analysis provided by astrologers, about an equal amount of astrological nonsense is pedaled in a show business format where readers’ prejudices are exploited and popularity defines truth.
To appreciate the strength of these nano-ages and nano-age decans, 2022 basically commenced with the fireworks associated with the Aries nano-age decan overflow (Jan 2022 – Jun 2022), and it is necessary to understand how overflow periods operate if you want to appreciate how the astrological ages and their sub-periods operate. Basically, any overflow period is a period that follows any age or sub-period and is of the same length – but the overflow period is much stronger. What this means is that the Age of Pisces (715 BC – 1433 AD) is more powerful in the Age of Aquarius (1433 – 3581) because the period 1433 to 3581 is also the Pisces age overflow, and Pisces will be more powerful in its overflow period. The strongest time for Aquarius will be in the Capricorn Age (3581 – 5728). (see Age of Aquarius for Dummies )
The punch in the face the world experienced with the arrival of this Aries nano-age decan overflow at the beginning of 2022 was the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as Aries promotes war and conflict. Of course, the Aries nano-age decan (Aug 2021 – Jan 2022) was developing its momentum and obviously, the machinations of war was being prepared by the Russian government, but the overflow period commencing in January 2022 is always far stronger.
Volcanic eruptions are also linked to Aries and the eruption of the Hunga volcano in Tonga after four weeks of activity on 15 January 2022 was the largest volcanic eruption since the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo, and the most powerful eruption since the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa. It should be noted that the 1991 eruption also occurred under Aries, the Aries micro-age decan overflow (Mar 1990 – Mar 1995) and Krakatoa occurred under the even more powerful Aries micro-age (1881-1896). Many people also noticed the fantastic reddish sunsets since the volcanic eruption. We can also include with Aries the return to operation in April 2022 of the Large Hadron Collider three years after being shut down for upgrades which naturally is based on collisions at the nuclear level – and Aries promotes collisions!
Assassinations are also linked to Aries and the July 2022 assassination of the former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe was a high-profile assassination. Another high-profile death was that of the Islamic State leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi as a result of a counter-terrorism raid by US special forces in north-western Syria in February 2022.
The Aries nano-age decan represents a third of a nano-age, and its parent nano-age was the Sagittarius nano-age (Mar 2021 – Jun 2022) leading into its more powerful Sagittarius nano-age overflow (Jun 2022 – Aug 2023). Apart from warlike Aries, Sagittarius defined the second half of 2022 with passengers flocking to the air as the years of Covid isolation suddenly dissipated. The rush towards international travel was like a stampede, with many airlines around the world trying to cope with a sudden surge in passengers and employees off sick with Covid. Missing luggage became a sign of the times!
Another manifestation of Sagittarius, especially since mid-2022 when it peaked, has been the sigh of relief most of the world has expressed with the stoic Ukrainian response to the Russian invasion of their country. Despite nuclear rumblings and the Russian’s frenzied attacks on Ukrainian civilian targets, the world seemed relieved at how the war has been proceeding to date – news of Ukraine’s successes and Russian failures are generally welcomed. The Age of Aquarius has definitely sponsored the spread of democracy but the medieval Pisces Age Overflow energizes the assault upon democracy by the reactionary forces of darkness (or at least backwardness). There is no indication that this struggle between democracy and totalitarianism will end any time soon, certainly not this century, and extremely unlikely by the end of the 3rd Millenium. The Age of Aquarius is definitely no golden age. Even the term ‘golden age’ is more accurately associated with Leo – the opposite sign to Aquarius. The Aquarian age does not promote light, it promotes excitement and disruption!
Scorpio nano-age (Jun 2022 – Aug 2023)
Usually, the overflow period significantly outweighs the following period, and so the emphasis would normally be placed on the Sagittarius nano-age overflow (Jun 2022 – Aug 2023) over the Scorpio nano-age (Jun 2022 – Aug 2023) – see Table 1. However, the world is not only in the Scorpio sub-age overflow (1970 – 2149) but in its most powerful sector from 1970 to 2059. Thus this small Scorpio period is stronger than the normal nano-age, and this was demonstrated in the November 2022 US midterm elections.
For example, in an analysis of Michigan voters by the Epic-MRA pollster Bernie Porn, 43% of voters stated that the abortion issue was the strongest factor, while only 29% of voters factored inflation as the most important issue. It is also more than coincidental that the US US Supreme Court reversed Roe versus Wade in June 2022, the very month Scorpio commenced. With the full Scorpio nano-age and overflow (Jun 2022 – Aug 2023 – Nov 2024), it should be expected that abortion will be a decisive factor in the November 2024 US elections. Scorpio is not just about sex, death and abortion, it is also revolutionary and promotes overthrowing limitations. On the negative side, it does raise the stakes in the threat of nuclear weapons by Russia and other international malcontents.
Already a highly notable death has occurred under Scorpio’s watch – Queen Elizabeth II passed away in September 2022 marking perhaps the end of an era? If it is the end of an era, which era is ending? See the End of an Era postscript.
Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024)
Another key player for all of 2022 is the continuing and ongoing influence of the Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024). Aquarius is the greatest disruptive sign in the zodiac and breeds extremism like Trump in the USA and Putin in Russia, with the Chinese president not far behind. Aquarius partnered with Cancer (and Capricorn) to bring to the world the Covid pandemic. More people in the world were disrupted by the pandemic compared to anything else since the end of the Second World War. The supply-chain disruptions that have played havoc in 2022 can probably be relied upon to continue into 2023 and COVID-19 should also maintain a dwindling presence in the world until around November 2024 with just enough energy to continue its disruption – but at a reduced level as there is no additional activation of Aquarius in 2023 – but it remains potent in the background.
Of course, with Aquarius sitting within Russia’s astrological signature, it ensures that Russia always seems to be the odd country out, and when it changes, it seems to prefer extremes. For example, it dawdled with monarchical rule way beyond the time’s norms, then lurched like a drunkard to the Kafkaesque nightmare of communism. After a very brief sojourn with the semblance of democracy after the collapse of the Soviet Union, it was back to its autocratic thuggish roots. While the Aries nano-age decan overflow at the beginning of 2022 precipitated the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Aquarius influence has powered Russia in its self-proclaimed quest to repeat the achievement of Peter the Great – but replaced by Putin the Pathetic.
Aquarius rules electricity and many countries in the world are experiencing spiraling electricity prices as the Ukraine war disrupts energy supplies in Europe with a flow-on effect to much of the rest of the world.
Flashback to the Crimean War
It looks like history is against Russia – or to be more specific, history is against those who start wars be they American, Russian or anyone else. The original Crimean War (Oct 1853 – Feb 1856) had very similar astrology to the current Russian invasion of Ukraine. The start of the Crimean War in October 1853 was also in a Cancer micro-age overflow (Jun 1851 – Apr 1866) but in the Aquarius micro-age decan (Jun 1851 – May 1856) rather than an Aquarius micro-age decan overflow as was the case for the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Crimean War commenced near the midway peak of the Aries nano-age and overflow (Sep 1852 – Dec 1853 – Feb 1855) whereas the Russian invasion of Ukraine commenced under an Aries nano-age decan overflow. Same basic signs but slightly different sub-periods involved.
Russia failed miserably in the Crimean War (1853 – 1856) which marked a turning point for the Russian Empire and suggests history is probably repeating itself. It’s a little-known observation about war that rarely the aggressor wins (if you research the topic). The Crimean War weakened the Imperial Russian Army, drained its finances, and undermined Russia’s influence in Europe and it took decades to recover. Russia’s humiliation forced it to recognize the need for fundamental reforms. The war thus became a catalyst for rapid modernization, and reforms of Russia’s social institutions, including the abolition of serfdom and overhauls in the justice system, local self-government, education and military service.
We can only hope that the Russian invasion of Ukraine will teach Russians that they need an effective democracy and not just another dictatorial thug and warmonger as their leader. It should be noted that historically for thousands of years, people have gravitated towards thugs as their leaders, and in a dog-eat-dog world, this makes sense. However the appearance of the Age of Aquarius has clearly shown there has been an attempted shift to a less thuggish world, but there is more to do in this regard than what has been done to date. It’s a work in progress which parallels that the Age of Aquarius and it is extremely early days yet for the influence of the Age of Aquarius. It may take millennia to entrench real democracy in our world.
Cancer micro-age decan overflow (Nov 2022 – Apr 2023)
2022 is concluding with a Cancer micro-age decan overflow (Nov 2022 – Apr 2023) and so we may see some evidence of a resurgent Russia, China and any archetypes associated with Cancer such as Islam, the Middle East, refugees, Covid or some other contagion, conspiracy theories and populace leaders and their rhetoric – but only for about five months. However, this also resonates with the more powerful Cancer micro-age and overflow (Feb 2000 – Dec 2014 – Nov 2029) so it is another period that is bigger than its bootstraps – these are the ones to watch.
One manifestation of Cancer is Iran’s footballers’ refusal to sing their country’s national anthem at the start of their World Cup match with England in apparent support for the anti-government protests sweeping the country. Even the staging of the World Cup in Qatar in November 2022 has brought attention to the restrictive anti-liberal laws in this Middle Eastern country.
Another manifestation of Cancer is the housing crisis many countries are experiencing around the world, especially with inflation driving up real estate prices and rentals. China is having a mega housing crisis with the collapse of its housing sector. Cancer will also temporarily promote populace leaders and politics, and the underworld of conspiracy theorists should be enthused with their entrenched and mainly uniform delusions. The announcement by Donald Trump in November 2022 for another run for the US presidency is evidence of the return of Cancer. However, as Donald Trump’s dismal performance in the November 2022 US midterm elections displayed, while Cancer will remain very strong in the world until the end of this century, it is waning. Once the Aquarius micro-age overflow departs in November 2024, some sense of normality should return as Aquarius partnered with Cancer to bring us the new breed of lying populace leaders. Aquarius rules extremes, eccentrics and disruption, and this is why conspiracy theorists and volatile populace leaders have had such an impact of late – but there days are numbered. With the strongest sign in the Age of Aquarius being Pisces, is it any wonder that delusion can be placed on a pedestal in our so-called modern world?
One notable development linking the Gemini micro-age (2014 – 2029) with the Cancer nano-age overflow (Nov 2022 – Apr 2023) and Sagittarius nano-age overflow (June 2022 – Aug 2023) was the hostile takeover of Twitter by Elon Musk, a supporter of Donald Trump. While Cancer promotes populace leaders, and Gemini’s focus on the internet, especially online communication (social media), the Sagittarius nano-age overflow opposes Gemini – and this strain between Sagittarius and Gemini promotes the kind of hostile takeover of Twitter that has taken place. The Sagittarius influence on Cancer activates Cancer’s 6th house, a desultory house for Cancer. So while the focus may increase on Cancer archetypes, Sagittarius will tend to play havoc upon them, and this can manifest in the appalling performance of the Russian military (ruled by the 6th house), plus China’s rigid stance with its draconian health rules associated with Covid – a 6th house issue.
Cancer is a sign of depression, and it is remarkable how depressed or pessimistic a significant number of people are displaying on social media or in conversations as if the end of the world is nigh. Compared to the first half of the 20th century, the world of 2022 is a Sunday School picnic – but depressed people cannot see the light of day. This collective depression is sure to find a number of means of expression, especially in this Cancer blip within the powerful Cancer micro-age and overflow. There are some legitimate areas of concern for many people to get depressed about, and probably the main one is lack of leadership. Countries with strong Cancer credentials such as China, Russia and the Middle East are somewhat immune to leadership issues but for the rest of the world, there is no real leadership. This is why Russia is allowed to run amok in Ukraine, not to mention the serious backtracking on the environment witnessed at Cop27 – though compensating underdeveloped countries for negative climate impact was acknowledged and technically agreed upon at the conference.
Interestingly, the launch of the Artemis rocket on November 16 2022 occurred after many months of delay for its mission to fly to the Moon and return to Earth. It is the first step to returning astronauts to the Moon, including the first female astronaut. Perhaps the rocket was waiting for the Cancer nano-age decan overflow to commence?
More details about 2023 will be found in 2023 in the Age of Aquarius once it is published. Click on 2022 in the Age of Aquarius for more predictive details about 2022.
The above astrological perspective on 2022 is focused on sub-periods of the Age of Aquarius.
You may not have been able to see the Age of Aquarius in 2022 prior to reading this post, but the key players were Capricorn followed by Sagittarius, with Aries playing a key role in the first half of 2022 and Cancer completing the year with Sagittarius remaining full steam ahead into 2023. 2023 sits strategically under the influences of the multi-year Aquarius micro-age decan overflow and Cancer micro-age overflow and these were the key players that brought 2022 to you and the rest of the world. 2023 has very different astrological dynamics and 2023 in the Age of Aquarius will be posted as soon as possible.

The End of an Era?
This is where the sub-periods of the astrological ages can yet again provide the answer. The end of an era the world is currently now experiencing is the era promoted by the Sagittarius sub-age and overflow (1612 – 1791 – 1970). But, you may ask, it should have concluded in 1970! But no, the momentum created by any period will continue but with greater competition. For example, while 1970 may have experienced the technical end of the Sagittarius influence, this is the same year that the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2149) peaked with Scorpio now the dominant sub-age energy. Scorpio pushed Sagittarius aside, but not away. A primary manifestation is that the Scorpio pollution as a result of the Industrial Revolution and worldwide population explosion under Sagittarius now started to raise its head as a serious issue to be dealt with. Queen Elizabeth II was a vestige of the bountiful world under Sagittarius, but that bountiful world now has serious blemishes, cracks and jagged edges.
Secondly, all ages, and most sub-periods, such as the Sagittarius sub-age and overflow, encounter their opposite energy at their end. When the Sagittarius sub-age overflow concluded in 1970, and the Scorpio sub-age and overflow peaked, 1970 also marked the arrival of the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2149). Libra has three decans, and the Libra sub-age commenced with the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088) and one of Gemini’s role is to stop Sagittarius – its opposite sign. This Gemini influence will peak in 2029 marking a more serious reversal of the so-called good fortune that arrived in the world under Sagittarius. By the end of the more powerful Gemini sub-age decan overflow in 2088, it is expected that the world population explosion will be complete, and that the world’s population will be on a descent curve. Interestingly, the most significant change in the world population explosion under Sagittarius occurred in its last decade, when the rate of population increase peaked in 1962 and 1963 as the following graph demonstrates.
The following graph indicates the expected total population in the world for the rest of the 21st century, which strongly suggests that the world’s population will be decreasing by the end of the Gemini sub-age overflow in 2088! Gemini has an assigned job to do, and predictions seem to support its role of undermining Sagittarius. Unfortunately, it will also be the era of lies – which most of us are already experiencing on an almost daily basis as we are haranged by telephone calls, emails or whatever of doubtful integrity, outright deceit or businesses trying to trick us into paying more for less. Most people now have an associate that was robbed or deceived online with authorities unwilling to take enough effective action. The Era of Scammers is on our doorstep!
In 2022, a country run by former KGB personnel turned criminals launched a savage attack on an independent, sovereign and democratic nation Ukraine in the middle of Europe. After an initially slow response, many countries progressively applied sanctions against Russia, their key oligarchs and other associated parties while Russia merely increased its brutish attacks. President Biden in his State of Union Address stated that if such barbaric behavior by Russia is not addressed, history tells us that the situation will deteriorate. He then proceeded to do nothing effective. Responding to Russia’s barbarous attacks by sanctions is like rapping the knuckles of a serial murderer. Certainly sanctions are better than nothing, and they will have a detrimental effect upon Russia, meanwhile western democracies throw Ukraine under the bus. This is the biggest elephant in the room, yet rarely discussed in the media – why have western democracies allowed the travesty in Ukraine to continue without effective retaliation? Are western democracies cowards?
The only way to deal with force is by force. Why have western democracies turned away from providing real assistance to Ukraine? This is starting to look like the same kind of response when Czechoslovakia was thrown under the Nazi bus in the lead-up to the Second World War.
This is where astrology provides a framework that allows us to better understand any situation. When Cancer is strong in the world, such as now, the world goes through a period of weakness, lack of backbone and wisdom, and this is reflected both in political leadership and populations. The current strength of Cancer in the world is at its strongest since the 1850s. Interestingly, this was the decade of the Crimean War (1853 – 56) that marked a turning point for the Russian Empire. The war weakened the Russian army, drained the treasury and undermined Russia’s influence in Europe and the Russian empire, that Putin is trying to resurrect, and it took decades for Russia to recover. Russia’s humiliation forced its educated elites to identify its problems and to recognize the need for fundamental reforms and so the war thus became a catalyst for reforms of Russia’s social institutions, including the abolition of serfdom and overhauls in the justice system, local self-government, education and military service. There is hope yet!
Of the 12 sub-ages in every astrological age, each has a Cancer micro-age such as referred to above. The recent Cancer micro-age (February 2000 – December 2014) is the first half of a wave, which like a tsunami, has overflowed into the following Gemini micro-age, and is also the same timeframe as the Cancer micro-age overflow (December 2014 – November 2029). The overflow period is almost twice as powerful as the first part – so Cancer picked up momentum post-December 2014. Furthermore, due to the way periods and overflow interact, it creates a four-stage structure similar to the four phases of the moon. The absolute strongest quarter of the Cancer micro-age and overflow is the period December 2014 to June 2022. Cancer has not peaked like this since the 1850s.
Cancer is not limited to lack of backbone, it also weakens immune systems and this contributed to the Covid-19 pandemic. It also marks a time when (Capricorn) wisdom is at a low ebb, and strategic decisions are lacking. Public opinion becomes more important than leadership, and so this period also marks the rise of populace leaders seen in many countries in the world including former President Trump in the USA and Prime Minister Boris Johnson in the UK and so on. Cancer periods also breed strong anti-science sentiment which was clearly witnessed during the pandemic. It also strengthens for better or worse countries with Cancer strongly located in their astrological signatures such as China, Russia, Scandinavian countries, United Kingdom, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern countries and New Zealand – all of which have received more focus in recent times – one way or another.
For Russia, China and UK, this has made them more bellicose and belligerent and in the case of Russia and China, they have also demonstrated another archetype associated with Cancer – they are both behaving like an amoeba that is trying to absorb their neighbors or regions on their periphery – borders are ruled by Cancer. With China, it is islands on the South China Sea and their determination to swallow up democratic Taiwan. For Russia, it has been absorbing territory in Georgia (2008), Crimea (2014) and now Russia has returned to steal the rest of Ukraine.
Coinciding with this Cancer micro-age overflow period, which is empowering both China and Russia on the world stage, is the current Gemini micro-age (December 2014 – November 2029), which has three micro-age decans, each with their own corresponding overflow periods. The Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) is also at its strongest in its second half (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) and this, combined with Cancer, brought the COVID pandemic, as Aquarius rules unusual events and particularly interruption. The world has been more interrupted by the pandemic compared to anything else since the Second World War. Aquarius’ interruption is not limited to the pandemic, the Russian invasion has brought another round of interruption in the international community.
The Cancer micro-age overflow and Gemini micro-ages with the three micro-age decans of the Gemini micro-age
Aquarius is not limited to interruptions, it is also the key sign for democracy and fascism, and this is what is occurring in Ukraine – the attempted demolition of democracy by fascism. Furthermore, Aquarius sits strongly in Russia’s astrological signature, and this explains why the world is experiencing at this time Russia invading Ukraine rather than China invading Taiwan – China does not have Aquarius in its signature. Russia is supercharged by both the most potent quarter of the Cancer micro-age and overflow (December 2014 – June 2022) combined with the most potent quarter of the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (December 2019 – November 2024). This combination has turned Russia into a megalomaniacal monster of the worse kind. All it needs is to be rapped on the knuckles with sanctions and it will obediently retreat to its borders with its tail between its legs. This is what the democratic leaders of the world expect. Cancer is the time of anti-leaders who will even sell their siblings if it gets them out of trouble. It really is rather pitiful. However, this is how the world has often been run for the last 5,000 years since governments first appeared.
With Cancer so strong, we cannot expect western democracies to shoulder their responsibility – as responsibility is ruled by Capricorn, the opposite sign to Cancer. However there is hope. The extremely adverse transits from the lunar nodes to critical elements in Ukraine’s natal horoscope disappear from around 17th to 24th March 2022. Ukraine may just make it over the line, one way or another.
The series of unfortunate nodal transits over Ukraine’s Uranus and especially to its ascendant and natal lunar nodes correlates to the devastation in Ukraine in late February 2022 and early March 2022 but the adverse nodal influences cease by around 24th March 2022, possibly as early as the 17th March
With the approaching Virgo full moon on 18th March, there is also some chance that Pisces Europe may go to war with Russia as the moon activates Europe’s 7th house. The prime sign for the USA is also Pisces, so perhaps the Americans and Europeans conjoin to put Russia under Putin firmly back into its place? Coincidentally, the Virgo full moon activates President Biden’s 10th house – so maybe he finds his backbone which has been missing in action to date? We cannot expect, only hope.
The astrology indicates a much bigger international conflict is on its way that will appear any time before the end of this decade, and it could in some way be linked to the Russian invasion of Ukraine or the Russian invasion may be the precipitating element to start this new major international conflict. We live in an age of tyrants, and Putin is just another in the line of Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Kim Jong-un plus a medley of smaller more localized tyrants. Now Putin can be added to the mix of some of the most repulsive leaders the modern world has the misfortune to experience. These tyrants are aligned to the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2149), or probably more accurately, the Scorpio quasi sub-age (1880 – 2059) which represents the middle 50% of the larger Scorpio period. Scorpio is the sign of tyrants and also the sign of nuclear weapons, so we should not be surprised if a contemporary tyrant uses them. Tyrants are also criminals that have stolen a country but never been bought to justice as they always steal the legal system as well. Criminals do not have a sense of ethics, justice or humanity as at their core, they are orientated to undermining these qualities at every opportunity. This is what is occurring in Ukraine.
Ukraine is engulfed in a nodal nightmare with the transiting and secondary progressed moon’s nodes tightly aspecting a number of critical points in Ukraine’s natal horoscope. For Ukraine, I am using its independence referendum chart of 1st December 1991 at 6:00 pm Kyiv courtesy of Nickolas Campion (The Book of World Horoscopes, p 326). Some astrologers prefer to use a different horoscope for Ukraine, but while I cannot comment on the other versions, the Vedic version (not shown) of the following horoscope provides good correlations to significant events in Ukraine’s recent history.
The progressed moon is semi square the natal nodes (almost exact but only in play for another month)
The progressed sun is conjunct the natal north node (half a degree from exact and active for another 1 ½ years)
The progressed midheaven is square the natal nodes (1/2 degree to an approaching exact aspect and active for approx. another 1 ½ years)
The progressed south node is conjunct the natal ascendant (41 minutes 7 separating and has been active since Ukraine declared independence in 1991 and will remain active for some years)
The nodal nightmare continues in the transit to natal charts:
Transiting nodes semi-square natal Uranus (the planet of independence)
Transiting nodes semi-square their natal positions (a fateful time)
The transiting nodes are obviously the precipitators of the nodal activity in the progressed horoscope – but is there light at the end of the tunnel? The transiting nodes are only exact mainly in the second half of February and first half of March 2020. Another primary influence is the progressed moon semi-square the natal nodes but this has a maximum influence of two months, with only one month remaining. The nodes act like ambassadors for eclipses. Having the ascendant ‘eclipsed’ virtually means Ukraine’s ‘self’ or existence is taken away – but only temporarily. The same can be extracted from the nodes semi-square Uranus, this will eclipse their independence – but not for long? The transiting nodes’ squaring their natal positions amplifies the fateful nature of current events.
Is it possible Ukraine can withstand the military pressure from Russia – if it can withstand for a month, the outcome cannot automatically be assumed to be in Russia’s favor because all the short-term nodal aspects disappear – and this must mean something? Taking the cue from eclipses, what is taken away can return. The longer-term nodal aspects associated with any secondary progressed chart cannot have the same impact as an actual live transit. If Ukraine can make it through the short term nightmare nodal aspects, it may rebound. Is there any other astrology to support this conjecture?
The transits to the secondary progressed chart is not as common as the progressed to natal chart, but I have found that in any forensic review of previous events, the transits to the secondary progressed chart also lends support to whatever is happening.
The following transits to the secondary progressed chart for Ukraine are mainly loaded with positive aspects:
Transiting Saturn sextile progressed Mercury
Transiting Jupiter sextile progressed Uranus
Transiting Neptune trine progressed Pluto
Furthermore, the stand-alone secondary progressed chart, while unreliable on its own, does seem to contribute some further possible insights:
The secondary progressed sun is conjunct the secondary progressed north node and thus amplifying Ukraine’s current vulnerability as the sun is the current ruling planet in the progressed horoscope with progressed Leo ascending. The sun is being blanked and this is certainly happening to Ukraine!
The secondary progressed moon is also semi-square the secondary progressed nodes but this influence has only one month remaining.
The secondary progressed nodes are square the secondary progressed midheaven.
So once again, the transits to secondary progressed horoscope provide a two-tier approach – a combination of short and long-term influences.
The input from Ukraine’s Vedic horoscope (see below) is currently focused upon Mercury, its sidereal ruling planet because Ukraine recently entered its Mercury sub-dasa (Nov 2021 – Feb 2024). Mercury is unfortunately placed in the 6th house of enemies, and so Ukraine must permanently factor enemies into its existence – especially when it is activated as it is now. The 6th house is also one of three malevolent houses in the Vedic horoscope (6th, 8th & 12th houses) bringing misfortune, but this misfortune is not permanent for the 6th house– with time, its malefic influence subsides and it can even become a strong point for the Vedic horoscope. Having three planets in the 6th house indicates significant growing pains for Ukraine – which it certainly has endured to date.
Apartment block in Kyiv (Valeriy Lobanovskyi Avenue) struck by a Russian missile, 26 February 2022 (
This invasion by Russia is merely a continuation of what it has been doing for some time including Georgia and its earlier snatching of Crimea from Ukraine. What is so confusing about news reports is they focus upon day-to-day events but avoid providing a real analysis about why these day-to-day events are occurring. One sure way of understanding events is to follow the money. Before Russia invaded Crimea in 2014, Ukraine had discovered serious gas reserves offshore in its economic zone. Russia’s invasion of Crimea automatically absorbed the majority of these gas reserves. It must be noted that Russia is an oil/gas state the same as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Republic and so on. Russia’s wealth is dependent upon sale of oil and gas, mainly to western European nations, and from this wealth, Russia has been able to build up its armed forces and easily invade parts of Georgia and Ukraine. Russia obviously wants the rest of Ukranian’s gas reserve. This also explains the hesitancy of European democracies to actively support Ukraine, as their focus is more upon their economies than defending democracy. In our part of the Age of Aquarius, Pisces is the strongest influence in the world, and Pisces is the ruler of oil and corporate interests. This is why the western corporate focus on oil (and gas) has taken predominance over democracy, as Pisces corporate interests are considered more important than defending Aquarian democracy.
Another Ukrainian resource Russia wants to get its hands on is water, as until Russia annexed Crimea, Crimea received its water supply from Ukraine via a large canal. This supply ceased once Crimea was taken from Ukraine, leaving the interior of Crimea a virtual wasteland. Latest reports indicate Russia has just blown up the dam that prevented the water getting to Crimea. This coincides with Cancer micro-age and overflow (2000 – 2014 – 2029) which is in its strongest quarter from December 2014 to April 2024 – and freshwater is ruled by Cancer.
Ukraine is also the breadbasket for Europe with an amazing agricutural output, and if Putin gets his hands on it, he can exercise further leverage against European democracies. Make no mistake, Putin is just a thief with a country and nuclear arsenal to back him up.
Russia’s behavior in stealing Ukraine’s gas reserves, and now attempting to take the rest, plus obtaining the water it wants for Crimea is completely in line with how European powers flourished over the last five centuries until the decades after the Second World War. All the European powers were as despotic, unethical and unprincipled as Russia is behaving today. But slowly the Age of Aquarius is pushing mainly western nations towards equality and recognizing rights, but this creates a multi-tiered world that is like a living museum. Russia is merely some decades or centuries behind – but all is not black and white. The USA has often been incredibly reprehensible since the Second World war with a litany of underhanded chicanery that has done so much needless damage to so many countries just for the USA’s own economic or political interests. The American Indians were perceptive when they stated ‘the white man speaks with a forked tongue’. So everything is not black and white with the good guys in one corner and the bad guys in another. Nevertheless, the acid test is war – it is Russia that has recommenced war against Ukraine, and there is no justification for commencing a war. In this regard, I had the same feeling of unease with the Russians invading Ukraine as the Americans and its allies invading Iraq in 2004 – the aggressor is the aggressor. For this assessment of the situation, I am indebted to the following video:
Another reason why the Russians may want to invade Ukraine is for strategic reasons, though this is probably the smokescreen to cover the economic reasons. At the core of Russia’s strategic claims is that it is merely reacting to NATO’s takeover of former Soviet states which Putin claims threaten Russia. Always listen to accusations, as the accuser is usually projecting their own mindset. Putin’s mindset is towards invading other countries, of which his track record clearly demonstrates. NATO or western European nations have shown absolutely no intention of invading Russia. Some credibility must be given to the perspective that Putin only wants Ukraine for Greater Russia, regardless of NATO or economic benefits. Put has a megalomaniac desire to restore the Russia of old.
This invasion of Ukraine must be placed in context – the world is quickly approaching the biggest conflict since the Second World War and it could be the result of the invasion of Ukraine, or the Ukraine invasion is a contributing factor for the approaching war. The most likely time for this major confrontation is any time commencing around November 2024 (the beginning can also occur earlier, and could start anytime) and the pressure leading towards this time of confrontation will increase in June 2022. The track record indicates that the coming conflict will most likely involve some or all the major power bases in the world – the USA, China, Europe and Russia – but North Korea or any other rogue state cannot be ruled out.
It seems unreal that the western democratic axis has thrown Ukraine under the bus, similar to the fate of Czechoslovakia before the Second World War, but this accentuates a deficiency in democracy – government by the lowest common denominator – remember, that is how Trump became president. The lowest common denominator is the main paradigm in a Cancer period – which is where the world is currently located. It seems that the collective corporate interests of western nations are too entwined with Russia to effectively sanction Russia, and sanctions versus invasion are not even on the same page. Sanctioning Russia is like telling the schoolyard bully you will send a note home to their mom. The main reaction on local media I have seen is bewilderment by various commentators about why nothing real is being done to prevent Russia from invading Ukraine.
“What is Putin really after? Not just keeping Ukraine out of Nato, because Nato itself isn’t Putin’s biggest worry. After all, Hungary and Poland are Nato members but are governed in ways that resemble Russia more than western democracies. Putin’s real fear is liberal democracy, which poses a direct threat to authoritarian “strongmen” like him (just as it did to Donald Trump). Putin wants to keep liberal democracy far away from Russia. Putin’s means of keeping western liberal democracy at bay isn’t just to invade Ukraine, of course. It’s also to stoke division inside the west by fueling racist nationalism in western Europe and the United States. In this, Trump and Trumpism continue to be Putin’s most important ally.”
The astrology of our times does not currently favor wisdom or long-term interests. The world is in the strongest quarter (until June 2022) of the Cancer micro-age and overflow (2000 – 2014 – 2029) and with Cancer opposite Capricorn, the sign of wisdom, wisdom is thin on the ground. Politicians tend to react more to the knee-jerk reactions of the general populace and lead from the back. Populace politicians like Trump is a classic example, with a number of others of a similar vein on the world stage including Putin. Unfortunately, the USA has subjected its citizens to a series of insane and stupid wars over the last decades, and now when a real issue arises, they are too jaded to adequately respond. Furthermore, it takes a statesman to champion democracy, and this is indeed wanting.
Unfortunately, Cancer-associated nations such as China and Russia benefit. The world is also in the Gemini micro-age (2014 – 29) and the first micro-age decan is the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2014 – Nov 2019 – Nov 2024) and the strongest period for Aquarius is the 2 ½ years commencing November 2019.
Gemini micro-age and micro-age decans
Aquarius is very strong in Russia’s astrological signature, but Aquarius undermines Pisces-orientated Europe and the USA. So Russia is temporarily astrological favored and is making hay while the sun shines, while western democracies cower in fear, indifference or economic interests. The USA spends ten times more on military expenditure than the country in second place, yet I saw President Biden almost choked on his words at the concept of American soldiers fighting Russians on the battlefield. It is fairly obvious that western democracies are not supporting Ukraine as a backroom agreement amongst them has placed this in the too hard basket.
The universal response to the Ukraine invasion by western leaders and the normal sundry politicians was initially “blah, blah blah” as they mime the same nonsensical response of sanctions. During this strong Cancer period, too many so-called leaders have no (Capricorn) backbone – and this is what we are seeing with the early response to the invasion – “blah, blah blah”. At least the Ukrainian president has a backbone. In response to an offer by President Biden to whisk president Volodymyr Zelenskyj away to a safe heaven, his response was that he needed ammunition, not a ride.
Despite the abysmal real support for Ukraine from western democracies, perhaps the wheels of fortune are slowly shifting in Ukraine’s favor as the following change of heart by Germany implies:
“The Russian assault on Ukraine marks a turning point,” Germany’s chancellor said, signalling a major shift in his country’s postwar military stance. “It threatens our entire postwar order. In this situation it is our duty to support Ukraine to the best of our ability in its defence against the invasive army of Vladimir Putin. Germany stands closely on the side of Ukraine.”
Putin shunned by world as his hopes of quick victory evaporate, The Guardian, Sun 27 Feb 2022 07.57 AEDT
On the grand perspective, while the world is drowning in a sea of technology, courtesy of the Aquarian age, the main political paradigm in the world remains medieval due to the overflow influence from the Age of Pisces. Pisces remains stronger than Aquarius for around another 500 years. If you don’t understand medievalism, just examine the international political situation in the world over the last 500 years up to and including Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The invasion of Ukraine by Russia is a direct continuation of medievalism. [see The Myth of Modernity ]
While many major setbacks have occurred in the world since the dawn of human civilization, somehow there is an ongoing groundswell of improvement – like a numbers game that keeps casinos rich. Perhaps 51% of events are ‘positive’ and 49% are ‘negative’, but over the long term, this slight advantage of positive over negative finds us in the world today instead of on average being dead by the age of 20 and a greater percentage of the world’s population than ever before have some democratic power. If we could time travel, there is no point in going back in time. Even the wealthy aristocrats from only a few centuries ago could not depend upon being alive past their 50s. Humanity is still coming out of the caves, and we can see this in the world we live in. The real focus should be on how humanity can extricate itself from this 5,000 years momentum of military madness. To understand at the deepest level the Ukrainian dilemma, it is necessary to understand the relationship between the hairless chimpanzees and humans.
For further background on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, see:
Let’s hope for the future of democracy and a saner world that Ukraine can withstand the short-term transiting nodal nightmare and come out the other end in March 2022?
This will be the first year with ‘punch’ since 2020 when COVID-19 first made its influence felt to an unsuspecting world. Therefore we can expect that the world will move on from the dominance that COVID has had in world affairs as a new punch usually indicates a new focus or direction. However, despite this new influence, it is unlikely that COVID will disappear in 2022. The reason why 2022 has gravitas is due to a change in the quasi micro-age that only occurs once about every 15 years. The larger the timeframe involved, the greater the impact.
This astrological perspective on 2022 is focused upon sub-periods of the Age of Aquarius.
For example, the Cancer quasi micro-age (Jul 2007 – Jun 2022 ) is derived from the Cancer micro-age and overflow (Feb 2000 – Dec 2014 – Nov 2029) commencing at the exact midpoint of the Cancer micro-age (Jul 2007) and concluding at the exact midpoint of the following Cancer micro-age overflow (Jun 2022) which corresponds tothe Gemini micro-age. The quasi period always represents the upper half of the bellcurve.
Capricorn nano-age and overflow (Dec 2019 – Mar 2021 – Jun 2022)
Nano-ages, at about 15 months each (and 30 months influence if the overflow period is included), may be the smallest division of an astrological age that I employ with some confidence, but they certainly make an impact. Due to these nano-ages, 2022 should be a year of relatively better news and optimism in comparison to previous years – at least since the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic in December 2019. This is due to a change in nano-ages in June 2022. The Capricorn nano-age and overflow has been with us since the beginning of the pandemic – which makes total sense, as a pandemic does not bring good news or an optimistic environment – the exact opposite is more accurate.
Capricorn is dark, restrictive, limiting and serious such as mandates, lockdowns and travel restrictions. For nearly everyone in the world, this has brought limitations such as wearing masks, restricted access to live entertainment, many businesses being forced to shut down or limit their activity, loss or interruption to employment, restrictions on international travel, and in some countries, many states imposed a hard state border and seriously limited movement across the state lines. Even as I write, I can cross the state border that is only one hour drive away, but I cannot get back home unless I quarantine for two weeks at great expense – unless I have a legitimate reason – going to the beach is not acceptable. This restriction is due to lift in mid-December 2022. However, as a consequence of this ‘restriction’, my state has been relatively COVID-free for nearly all of the pandemic and apart from sometimes wearing masks, and logging into venues attended, it’s been life as normal!
Table 1 – the Sagittarius nano-age and overflow interfacing with adjoin nano-ages
The Capricorn nano-age and overflow is more potent in its second half (Mar 2021 – Jun 2022) which is why the world has experienced more hardship in 2021 compared to 2000 – the first year of the pandemic (see Table 1 above). The main instigator of the new sourer mood is the Delta variant of COVID-19. The Delta variant was named soon after the beginning of the deeper Capricorn period in May 2021 and by June 2021 was becoming the dominant strain globally.
The interesting aspect of the Delta variant is that it originated in India, and Capricorn is a key sign in India’s astrological signature. Such was the affinity between Capricorn and India, India experienced a surge in cases due to the Delta variant even before the Capricorn overflow period had arrived. This variant meant that the virus was able to spread quickly amongst the populations of many regions of the world as it was 40% and 60% more transmissible than earlier common variants and causes more severe illness.
This Capricorn nano-age can also breed a recession, but considering that it has had since March 2021 to start a recession, this possibility is fading fast in 2022. For more details, see The Dynamics of Economic Recessions in the Age of Aquarius. However, many countries have expereinced a decline in economic output, which may continue until mid 2022.
With the conclusion of the Capricorn period in June 2022, we can expect fewer inroads upon societies, less restrictions, limitations and so on – but not necessarily the end of the pandemic as the pandemic is not solely linked to this Capricorn period.
Sagittarius nano-age and overflow (Mar 2021 – Jun 2022 – Aug 2023)
One of the biggest influences that will appear in mid-2022 is the second half of the Sagittarius nano-age and overflow (see Table 1). Sagittarius has been percolating around in the background since March 2021 mainly related to the beneficial impact of vaccinations. Various major vaccines became available in late 2020 and early 2021 and by November 2021, it is estimated that around 50% of the world’s population had been vaccinated. A number of countries reduced their restriction accordingly and expressed optimism on the return to partial normality, but serious flares up continue to plague many countries due to the strong presence of Capricorn. However, some relaxation of international travel occurred for many countries, something close to Sagittarius’ heart!
For example, as of November 2021, the USA eased travel restrictions for vaccinated travelers, marking a milestone in ending the pandemic. Even in Australia, in October 2021, the government announced the end of the blanket ban on foreign travel by Australian citizens, with some normal international flights commencing in early November 2021. This new optimism is also flagged by the developing Sagittarius period. Sitting in the middle of the Sagittarius nano-age and overflow (Mar 2021 – Jun 2022 – Aug 2023) is the Sagittarius quasi nano-age (Oct 2021 – Jan 2023) and October 2021 represented a shift up in gear for Sagittarius. This is exactly what happened.
Before the arrival of Sagittarius at full strength in June 2022, there will be one more gear change, albeit less pronounced, as the Sagittarius nano-age has three nano-age decans, and the Sagittarius nano-age decan (Jan 2022 – Jun 2022) should continue to further promote optimism and international travel compared to beforehand.
Sagittarius can breed inflation, and there are already signs that this occurring – so it should pick up speed mid-2022 and promote an inflationary economic period well into 2023.
The Sagittarius coup de gras will occur in June 2022 when the exhausted Capricorn nano-age and overflow will leave the field of play, and Sagittarius will enter its most potent quarter extending from June 2022 until January 2023. It is unlikely that COVID-19 will depart in mid-2022 but it does suggest that a combination of vaccination and herd immunity may have cornered COVID leaving it as a more peripheral influence upon most societies around the world.
Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024)
Another key player, if not the lead player in the pandemic, is the Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) as Aquarius is the greatest disruptive sign in the zodiac. More people in the world have been more disrupted by the pandemic compared to anything else since the end of the Second World War. Therefore, it is very possible that COVID-19 will maintain a dwindling presence in the world until around November 2024 with just enough energy to continue its disruption – but at a reduced level. This is strongly supported by the fact that in June 2022, the Aquarius quasi micro-age decan (Jun 2017 – Jun 2022) concludes, and therefore Aquarius will drop down a gear – but not disappear!
Libra quasi micro-age decan (Jun 2022 – May 2027)
The exit of the Aquarius quasi micro-age decan in June 2022 is replaced by the Libra quasi micro-age decan (Jun 2022 – May 2027), and Libra has been with us since December 2019 – but in its weakest quarter. The arrival of the Libra quasi micro-age decan in June 2022 does increase the influence of Libra and this is bound to manifest itself in some way. This could increase the focus of the role women have in society, new female leaders or some kind of female leadership breakthrough in the world, and due to Libra’s association with major blocs and alliances, the likelihood of some new international crisis leading to conflict or even war cannot be ruled out. However, the more likely time for such a major alignment of international forces against each other is mooted when Libra is at full strength in the five-year period commencing November 2024. Therefore, while I do not expect a major international conflict in 2022, a small possibility remains. (See The Next BIG Thing )
Nevertheless, there could be rising tensions associated with this approaching conflict, and these may become more prolific from June 2022 onward as Libra provokes an already dividing world. Recently, China has been railing against the return of something like the Cold War reflecting back to the second half of the 20th century when the world was divided between the Free World and the Communist Bloc. This coincided with the Pisces sub-age decan overflow (1910 – 1970) and bipolar signs such as Gemini, Libra and Pisces tend to split the world. Following the Pisces bipolar world we have existed under the influence of mono Scorpio, but this mono-world is showing signs of fracture due to the growing strength of Gemini. The world is in the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2059) with its strongest effects from 2029 onward. The world is indeed returning to a major split that will affect much of this decade and century, and one small step towards this widening rift will transpire from mid-2022 onward.
Cancer micro-age and overflow (Feb 2000 – Dec 2014 – Nov 2029)
The third player in the pandemic is the Cancer micro-age and overflow (Feb 2000 – Dec 2014 – Nov 2029) which experienced its most potent quarter from December 2014 to June 2022. Firstly, Cancer is often associated with plagues as Cancer is linked to the immune system because Cancer is the defensive sign without a backbone. This means that as of mid-2022, Cancer is coming off the boil, and so this will have a significant effect. Secondly, Cancer is the sign of the general public, and when the general public is stronger than usual, they tend to elect populace leaders that will pander to their knee-jerk desires. Under Cancer, Capricorn’s wisdom, logic and shrewdness get thrown out the window, and so leaders like Donald Trump can get elected president, the UK can vote for Brexit and the Philippine president can order the summary execution of drug users with apparent impunity. The other side of the lack of wisdom and logic is the spectacular growth of conspiracy theories where belief is elevated to being fact and lies can be called alternative facts!
From June 2022 onward, the Cancer influence does not disappear, but it does drop, so while populace leaders, with their thinly disguised anti-liberal and anti-democratic policies, will not just disappear, the ground they are standing upon is no longer as solid. This waning Cancer influence in mid-2022 is not limited to populace leaders but a whole range of subjects strongly associated with Cancer such as the Middle East, Mediterranean Sea, Islam and China to name some major players. All these areas have been greatly energized by Cancer, with 9/11 near the beginning of the Cancer period dramatically demonstrating its presence.
We can expect China to pull back from its stunning growth rate of recent decades, and there are signs this has already commenced, the Islamic terrorist and revolutionary influence will subside a little, the Middle East will stop being such a center of attention and the impact of Islam upon the wider world will also pull back. Refugees are just people looking for a new (Cancer) homeland, so there should also be a reduced impact of refugees or illegal immigrants as many governments prefer to label them.
Whatever is associated with Cancer, as indicated above, will subside – but Cancer’s ongoing influence will remain in place until the end of this decade at least – but not at the same intensity as we have been experiencing for the last 15 years. Of course, the subsidence of Cancer creates a vacuum, and this vacuum will be filled by Gemini.
Gemini quasi micro-age (Jun 2022 – Apr 2037)
The arrival of the Gemini quasi micro-age in mid-2022 is the most noteworthy astrological event associated with 2022 for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is the most ‘major’ of all the changes in 2022 and historically, such a change can create or precipitate the ‘next big thing’. The previous arrival in 2007 of a quasi micro-age was the Cancer quasi micro-age (Jul 2007 – Jun 2022). July 2007 marks the exact month that the Subprime crisis began as the following extract from Wikipedia explains:
“As housing prices fell, global investor demand for mortgage-related securities evaporated. This became apparent by July 2007, when investment bank Bear Stearns announced that two of its hedge funds had imploded. These funds had invested in securities that derived their value from mortgages. When the value of these securities dropped, investors demanded that these hedge funds provide additional collateral. This created a cascade of selling in these securities, which lowered their value further. Economist Mark Zandi wrote that this 2007 event was “arguably the proximate catalyst” for the financial market disruption that followed.”[1]
and
“The crisis had severe, long-lasting consequences for the U.S. and European economies. The U.S. entered a deep recession, with nearly 9 million jobs lost during 2008 and 2009, roughly 6% of the workforce. The number of jobs did not return to the December 2007 pre-crisis peak until May 2014.”[2]
Notice how May 2014 is just before the end of the Cancer micro-age in December 2014. Therefore the Subprime mortgage crisis leading into the Great Recession (Global Financial Crisis) is bookended by the exact halfway point of the Cancer micro-age marked by the beginning of the Cancer quasi micro-age in July 2007 but concluded just before the end of the Cancer micro-age in December 2014. This Cancer association to the Subprime mortgage crisis is found by its strong links to financing (Cancer) homes.
The arrival of each new quasi micro-age is not all going to be of equal importance due to resonance. The arrival of the Cancer quasi micro-age associated with the Subprime mortgage crisis in the USA occurred in a Scorpio micro-age decan and overflow (Jan 2005 – Jan 2010 – Dec 2014) with the peak influence of Scorpio associated with the Scorpio quasi micro-age (Jul 2008 – Jul 2012) closely aligned to the Great Recession (2007 – 2009). However, these Scorpio periods associated with relatively tiny micro-ages, decans and associated quasi periods are all resonating with the massive Scorpio sub-age overflow (1970 – 2149) and so these small Scorpio periods draw upon the highly powerful sign of Scorpio that will remain in its strongest quarter until 2059. This was an economic crisis waiting to occur! [see Appendix A for more details on previous quasi micro-age cusps]
There is enough input from previous quasi micro-age cusps to develop an outline of what can be expected at or following the Gemini quasi micro-age decan cusps in June 2022:
There can be a stressful period for the first 15 months following the cusp because the first nano-age associated with the cusp is the Sagittarius nano-age overflow (Jun 2022 – Aug 2023) and Sagittarius will ‘stress’ Gemini!
The Gemini cusp in June 2022 feeds into the growing Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2019 – Oct 2024 – Nov 2029) that historically creates the next big thing to impact the world.
What can we expect from Gemini? Will the internet become the focus of some kind of worldwide upheaval? Google has warned of a surge in activity by government-backed hackers in 2021.[3] A spectacular rise in ransomware attacks could occur? Recently a UK spy agency disclosed that the number of ransomware attacks on British institutions had doubled in the past year.[4] Will the internet become militarized or even be fragmentized with countries or regions blocking access from other parts of the world due to their nefarious online deeds? This possibility is explored in A cyber-attack with COVID-like characteristics?
Other Gemini archetypes that could get involved are: school students, journalists (Julian Assange?) and news organizations, cars and all forms of domestic transportations, postal organizations, tuberculosis and any lung disease (a primary organ associated already with COVID-19), cities, windmills, cyclones, typhoons and hurricanes, novels and novelists and so on. Regions with a traditional association with Gemini include North East Africa, Armenia, Lower Egypt, London and Wales.[5] In addition, I have tentatively associated the following countries with Gemini based on my research of the astrological ages: the Koreas, Iraq, Singapore and Syria.
Something associated with Gemini is likely to precipitate or lead into the biggest conflict the world has experienced since the Second World War, and though this conflict could commence at any time, it is more likely to appear, or appear in its full form, associated with the second half of the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2019 – Oct 2024 – Nov 2029) commencing in October 2024.
Not all manifestations of Gemini archetypes from June 2022 onward need to lead to military conflict. For example, we should expect an increase in student activism as maturing youth discover the world is turning into a poison chalice due to the exponentially deteriorating environmental conditions in the world. Greta Thunberg and her peers are bound to make even a greater splash! Also, 2022 is likely to be the fulcrum year for the greening of transportation around the world with the shift to electric and hydrogen cars, buses and trucks significantly picking up momentum, though this may be seen more readily in hindsight some years from now.
The Koreas must be of concern, as having North Korea following a maniacal political ideology and armed with nuclear weapons does not bode well. The Libra micro-age decan and overflow should focus upon the major political blocs in the world, as is the nature of Libra, and so any conflict, military or otherwise, is likely to involve Libra-aligned China on the one side, and the USA on the other with many other countries gravitating towards one side or the other.
Of course, there is always Taiwan – the growing elephant in the room. Will Taiwan provoke the largest international conflict since the Second World War? I do not know the astrological signature for Taiwan, but it is believed that Taiwanese indigenous peoples settled the island around 6,000 years ago (4000 BC?) placing this firmly under the Gemini age overflow (5010 BC – 2862 BC) which would automatically meld Gemini to Taiwan. This could elevate Taiwan as the possible fuse for the coming international standoff or conflict?
There have been recent calls by China against the world deteriorating into the bipolar reality of the second half of the 20th century associated with the Cold War. This call by China is extremely unlikely to be heeded, as the world is accelerating towards a century and a half of polarization due to the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088) compounded by the arrival of the Libra quasi sub-age in 2059. The world rarely unifies under bipolar zodiacal signs.
Aries nano-age decan overflow (Jan 2022 – Jun 2022).
There is a world of difference between a nano-age and a nano-age decan, but nano-age decans with a 5-month lead-in and a 5-month overflow do have a mild effect. The Aries nano-age decan has been with since August 2021 – but only in its formative stage. The Aries nano-age decan overflow commencing in January 2022 will heighten military tensions and aggressive tendencies around the world.
We have already seen some Aries-associated tension with the USA, Britain, Canada and Australia already applying a diplomatic boycott to the Winter Olympics to be held in Beijing China from 4th to 20th February 2022, but otherwise, it augers well for Aries sport provided it does not become an arena for international politics? Aries, along with Mars and the 1st house has always had a health connotation, and it is possible that the Omicron variant of COVID 19 is associated with the Aries nano-age decan and overflow? While the more powerful Aries nano-age decan overflow does not appear until January 2022, there is always a 4 stage structure associated with all ages and their sub-periods in macro-astrology. Stage 2 should have commenced from around late October or early November 2021 increasing slightly the strength of this Aries period. Any COVID variant that does have a health impact in the first half of 2022 should have less impact and be short-lived in comparison to the Delta variant.
Table 2 – the 2022 nano-age decans and overflows superimposed upon the two applicable nano-ages
We can also expect that there will be some military tensions and examples of more aggression in the world under Aries in the first half of 2022. For example, the Aries nano-age decan and overflow (Dec 2007 – Apr 2008) in the previous Sagittarius nano-age (Dec 2012 – May 2013), 28 people, including the gunman, were killed in Sandy Hook Elementary School, Connecticut in mid-December 2012.[6] Other examples of Aries include bombs and bombings and multiple nuclear tests by North Korea, fires, damaging meteor strike. [See Appendix B for details of the previous Sagittarius nano-age (Dec 2012 – May 2013) and more.]
The Russian-Nato standoff over Ukraine and Russia’s position on the former eastern European nations previously aligned to the USSR but now members of NATO has been simmering for some months by the end of 2021 and is obviously aligned to the full Aries nano-age and overflow (Aug 2021 – Jan 2022 – Jun 2022). This has the potential to get more heated or explosive under the overflow period commencing in January 2021.
We can expect the likes of a hyper-aggressive North Korea with more nuclear tests at a minimum, terrorist bombings which could easily be risky for the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing China in February 2022, but otherwise an archetypal excellent time for a sporting event ruled by Aries. Unfortunately, school shootings or similar and destructive fires are also mooted. Certainly some increased military activity. Any negative activity associated with Aries will deflect a little from the growing optimism of Sagittarius, but Sagittarius should win out, and this should occur by June 2022 at the latest.
Sagittarius nano-age decan and overflow (Jan 2022 – Jun 2022 – Oct 2022)
This is just the most potent part of the larger Sagittarius nano-age and overflow (Mar 2021 – Jun 2022 – Aug 2023) and the optimism and good fortune associated with Sagittarius should be at its maximum in this period, especially in the seond half. Despite any aggressive Aries developments in early 2022, the optimism of the world still progressively increase in the first half of 2022, so this should ‘limit’ any explosions from Aries.
Cancer nano-age decan and overflow (Jun 2022 – Nov 2022 – Apr 2023)
This is a strong period to take note of, especially towards the end of 2022, because this resonates with the whole Cancer micro-age and overflow (Feb 2000 – Dec 2014 – Nov 2029) and so this is one of those times where the might of Cancer can express itself best. Despite the fact that June marks the official diminishment of the Cancer influence upon the world due to the end of the Cancer quasi micro-age, it is a quirk of the ages that any new quasi period (based on the 12 fold sign division) commences with a 1/12th influence of the previous zodiacal sign. So the Cancer quasi micro-age comes to an end but is given a gift of a little more focus at the start of the Gemini quasi micro-age. However, there is tension because while the focus temporarily returns to Cancer, the incoming Gemini quasi micro-age is creating a 12th house influence to Cancer.
This focus and tension upon Cancer will exacerbate negative issues associated with the Middle East, China, countries on the Mediterranean Sea, refugees looking for a new homeland, Islamic issues and even immunity issues taking into account COVID-19. Some unpleasantness from populace leaders, conspiracy theorists and the growth of fiction that many people belive are facts should also be expected. They have been with us for a while, but the amplitude of the problems in this area will be temporarily pronounced. This will be peaking from November 2022 into early 2023.
Scorpio nano-age (Jun 2022 – Aug 2023)
It is unlikely the world will respond much to this little Scorpio nano-age period as it will remain in its weakest part for the whole of 2022, and if it does raise its head in 2022, it will probably be some early signs of financial insecurity in the world – perhaps an increasingly skittish financial markets, or loan interest starting to rise or starting to have an economic impact? Banking jitters are common with Scorpio periods. The Scorpio story will be mainly focused upon 2023 but not in a major way – it usually takes a micro-age decan to strongly affect the world unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Conclusion
Despite forebodings about a major international crisis on the horizon in the years ahead, the major experience of 2022 will be the growing optimism and good fortune that Sagittarius will be progressively bringing to the world in the first half of 2022, and then, like a breaking wave, washing over the second half of 2022. Economic output and international travel will all benefit, though inflation may become an economic factor. The return of optimism and positive outlooks is magnified by Capricorn leaving the field after it has finally lost the joust with Sagittarius. It will not be all easy sailing as the Aries nano-age decan overflow will bring some small explosions in the first half of 2022. Developments in larger truculent issues should also be noticeable as the world swings away from the crisis of the pandemic and starts actively looking for the next crisis or major development in world affairs which will appear like clockwork.
APPENDIX A – Previous Quasi Micro-Age Cusps
What occurred at the arrival of the Leo quasi micro-age (Sep 1992 – Jul 2007)? There were two major developments plus one other notable change. Only one month after the start, and under Deng Xiaoping, several market-oriented reformers were promoted to the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China. This marked the acceleration of market reforms to establish a socialist market economy in China that sent China into economic overdrive and turned China into the second most powerful country in the world today. The Leo relationship to China’s Cancer is that Leo rules the 2nd house to Cancer, and the 2nd house is about income and wealth – something that the market reforms of October 1992 relatively quickly brought to China.
Almost equally notable, in January 1993 the European Economic Community eliminated trade barriers and created the European Union (EU) when the Maastricht Treaty came into force in 1993. The EU now represents 18% of the world’s economy and it is classified as an emerging superpower. The main sign for Europe is traditionally Pisces, and its astrological signature appears to be Pisces-Aries, as opposed to the USA which is Pisces-Aquarius. The link to Pisces is that Leo rules the 8th house of shared resources to Pisces – and the EU is principally about shared resources.[8]
The arrival of the Clinton era in November 1992 with the defeat of the sitting president, George HW Bush created a mainly ‘bright’ time and Clinton left office with the highest end-of-term approval rating of any U.S. president since Franklin Roosevelt and his presidency has been ranked among the upper tier in historical rankings of U.S. presidents. He brought to the presidency the closest likeness to President Kennedy and it was a rare Clinton speech without quoting JFK. Following a devastating midterm defeat in 1994, Clinton decided he would govern mostly from the center, and the result was one of the most productive periods of any presidency in recent memory. His presidency reconnected Washington DC with Camelot.[9] Clinton was a manifestation of Leo with four planets located in Leo including his Sun – the Monica Lewinsky affair conforms to our expectations about Leo the lion.
APPENDIX B – Previous Aries nano-age decan and overflow
Aries nano-age decan and overflow (Dec 2007 – April 2008)
January 2013
More than 100 people were killed and 270 injured in several bomb blasts in Pakistan.
The French military began a 5-month intervention into the Northern Mali conflict, targeting the militant Islamist Ansar Dine group.
39 international workers and 1 security guard died in a hostage crisis at a natural gas facility near In Aménas, Algeria.
An estimated 245 people died in a nightclub fire in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
February 2012
North Korea conducted its third underground nuclear test, prompting widespread condemnation and tightened economic sanctions from the international community.
A meteor explodes over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk, injuring 1,489–1,492 people and damaging over 4,300 buildings. It is the most powerful meteor to strike Earth’s atmosphere in over a century. The incident, along with a coincidental flyby of a larger asteroid, prompts international concern regarding the vulnerability of the planet to meteor strikes. (Note, it is interesting that a space mission was launched in November 2021 in the Aries nano-age decan to attempt to deflect an asteroid in September 2022 as a test for protecting the earth from future major asteroid strikes).[10]
March 2012
North Korea conducts its third underground nuclear test, prompting widespread condemnation and tightened economic sanctions from the international community.
A meteor exploded over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk, injuring 1,489–1,492 people and damaging over 4,300 buildings. It is the most powerful meteor to strike Earth’s atmosphere in over a century. The incident, along with a coincidental flyby of a larger asteroid, prompts international concern regarding the vulnerability of the planet to meteor strikes.
The Central African Republic President François Bozizé fled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, after rebel forces capture the nation’s capital, Bangui.
April 2012
The UN General Assembly adopted the Arms Trade Treaty to regulate the international trade of conventional weapons.
Chechnya-born Islamist brothers (one of whom was a United States citizen) detonated two bombs at the Boston Marathon in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States, killing 3 and injuring 264 others.
The 2013 Savar building collapse in Bangladesh, one of the worst industrial disasters in the world, kills 1,134 people.[11]
In the previous Aries nano-age decan overflow (May 2008 – Oct 2008) A fire broke out at Universal Studios Hollywood, resulting in widespread damage and reportedly destroying up to 175,000 master recordings by over 700 artists from the 1930s to 2000s. A North Korean border guard shot a South Korean tourist dead. Georgia invaded the breakaway state of South Ossetia, sparking a war with Russia and coincidentally, the 2008 Summer Olympics took place in Beijing, China. Air crashes also like Aries’ periods.
Exhausted or bored with the COVID pandemic? What is the next big thing that will greatly impact the world? What is a big thing? If we start with contemporary history, 9/11 was the first big thing of this century. As a consequence, the USA with the help of allies quickly invaded Afghanistan, found an excuse to invade Iraq in 2003 and resurrected the defacto Christian versus Islam modern Crusade against the infidels – the end result has been about as abysmal as the original Crusades about a thousand years earlier. The next big thing to appear was the sub-prime mortgage crisis (2007 – 2010) in American real estate mortgages leading to the Global Recession (Global Financial Crisis).
Following or overlapping with the above, the Arab Spring commencing in Tunisia and soon spread to Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Syria, and Bahrain with unrest in Morocco, Iraq, Algeria, Iranian Khuzestan, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, and Sudan concluding by around 2012. Out of the Arab Spring, or following Arab Winter (which extended to 2019 at least), evolved the Islamic State (ISIS) and by 2014 ISIS was able to drive Iraqi troops out of key cities and it even captured Mosel which it held until 2017.
Next came populace leaders such as Donald Trump (USA), Narendra Modi (India), Andrés Manuel López Obrador (Mexico), Matteo Salvini (Italy), Jair Bolsonaro (Brazil), Rodrigo Duterte (Philippines) and Boris Johnson (UK). These populace leaders have usually polarized their societies and depending upon which side you take, they will make their country great again or are throwbacks to a previous uglier time in the world. Finally, to cap off these two decades was COVID-19 creating the greatest disruption in the world since the Second World War. Based on precedent, there is every reason to believe that the world will continue to stumble from one upset or disaster to another as was the case with the first two decades of the 21st century, not to mention the last many thousands of years of disasters and turmoil that have plagued our world yet surprisingly, has never permanently dampened the human spirit.
The above provides a context for the extent of what the next big thing may be, but exactly what is next in line? This may be answered by recognizing the hidden structure that strongly influences all of the above. The hidden structure is the sub-periods of the current Age of Aquarius. The most relevant sub-periods associated with the above are micro-ages and micro-age decans. Each age of some 2150 years has 12 sub-ages of around 178 years, and these each have 12 micro-ages of slightly less than 15 years, and naturally, any decan will be a third – or nearly five years.
Table 1 – the Cancer micro-age and overflow (Feb 2000 – Nov 2029) including all micro-age decans and the following Gemini micro-age and overflow.
Table 1 outlines the relationship between these major events and the micro-ages and micro-age decans in effect: The key common sign for the first three decades of the 21st century is Cancer due to the Cancer micro-age and overflow (Feb 2000 – Dec 2014 – Nov 2029). Under the sign Cancer, there is a strong focus on Islamic nations as Islam is strongly associated with Cancer, being a Pisces-Cancer religion compared to its sibling Christianity which is a Pisces-Scorpio religion. This helps explain the whole Islamic orientation of world politics since 9/11 commencing with the 9/11 attack on the USA, the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, the Arab Spring (and Winter) and the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban in 2021.
The Cancer micro-age (Feb 2000 – Dec 2014) commenced with the Leo micro-age decan overflow (Feb 2000 – Jan 2005) but Aquarius is the second strongest sign in the astrological signature for the USA (age empire of the Pisces-Aquarius age). Leo will ‘attack’ Aquarius, which played out with 9/11. The overlapping Pisces micro-age decan focused upon the primary sign for the USA which it harnessed in its invasion of Iraq in 2003 and its success is attributable to the Pisces quasi micro-age decan (Nov 2003 – Jul 2007) and not shown in Table 1. All quasi periods indicate the upper half of the bell curve of strength and are derived from the combined second half of its foundation period and first half of its overflow period.
The Dot.com crash of 2000 is also worth mentioning as it was due to investors’ interest in internet-related companies which increased to a frenzied level following massive growth and adoption of the internet. Under the Leo micro-age decan overflow (Feb 2000 – Jan 2005) Aquarius technology was under ‘attack’ due to Aquarius and Leo being opposite signs. In April 2000 the Nasdaq Composite index fell 25% in just one week.
The sub-prime mortgage crisis (2007 – 2010) is readily associated with Cancer as homes are ruled by Cancer, and its appearance in 2007 basically coincided with the arrival of the Cancer quasi micro-age (Jul 2007 – Jun 2022) (not shown in Table 1) shifting Cancer up a gear. There is also a strong Pisces element as the whole sub-prime fiasco was the typical American smoke-and-mirrors that American capitalists are regularly able to pull from their hat of deceptive tricks.
The path to the Great Recession (2007 – 09) is readily associated with the Scorpio micro-age decan and overflow (Jul 2007 – Jul 2012 – Dec 2014), and though this recession was nominally only a few years, it dampened the economies of many countries for many more years. This same Scorpio micro-age decan and overflow (Jul 2007 – July 2012 – Dec 2014) also provided the revolutionary impetus for the Arab Spring (Dec 2010 – late 2014)[1] with Cancer also playing a dominant background influence.
Cancer is also the sign of populace leaders because Cancer is the sign of the common people and is opposite Capricorn – the sign of wisdom of the elders or wise people. Though elements of populace leaders appeared before the Cancer micro-age overflow such as Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee alongside Arizona Senator John McCain, it was not until the Cancer micro-age overflow commencing December 2014 that they became a worldwide phenomenon. For example, Donald Trump won the US presidential elections in November 2015 and Rodrigo Duterte became president of the Philippines on 30 June 2016.
Cancer produces the anti-leader as under Cancer, the general public is more attuned to having their base political needs met, and will support anyone who panders to their desires regardless of the consequences as there is no future involved in the equation created by Cancer. Cancer is also the hypersensitive sign of fear, and much of the policies of populace leaders was and is to stoke inherent fears of their supporters – especially by demonizing the objects of their fears – be they people of a different race, religion or attitudes, especially liberal attitudes. This is why president Duerte of the Philippines was able to get away with the state-sponsored murder of drug users as the public feared them.
The nascent Aquarius element from the Aquarius micro-age decan (Dec 14 – Dec 19) also feeds into these populace leaders (as it did in the 1920s and 30s) as community, social and political norms are radicalized by Aquarius – Aquarius and Cancer are also associated with mental instability and helps explain the rise of conspiracy babble around the world that behaves like a virus!
Finally, the COVID-19 pandemic came to international attention the very same month that the Aquarius micro-age decan (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019) entered its more powerful Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024). Aquarius is the sign of disruption, and the greatest disruption that human society has withstood to date was under the Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 2025 – 1940) which saw the First World War, Spanish flu, Great Depression, communism and the beginning of the Second World War. The associated Aquarius quasi micro-age decan (Jun 2017 – Jun 2022) deemphasizes Aquarius to a certain extent in mid-2022 suggesting that this is around the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, or that it is all over bar some final angst in scattered counties around the world manifesting as the pandemic of the unvaccinated.
One of the truly surprising fruits of my research into the astrological ages and their sub-periods is that it is the decans that generally provide the most relevant insights. For example, the previous big things since 2000 are mostly associated with micro-age decans. It is these micro-age decans that provide the necessary background on the next big thing.
To gain a better understanding of what the next big thing may be, it is necessary to see what follows the Aquarius micro-age decan. What ‘follows’ in macro-astrology is always an overlapping influence (as Table 2 indicates). Firstly, since December 2014, the world entered the Cancer micro-age overflow (Dec 2014 – Nov 2029) but in December 2014 arrived the overlapping Gemini micro-age and overflow (Dec 2014 – Nov 2029 – Sep 2044) which commenced with the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024). The next cab off the rank is the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024 – Nov 2029) and as usual, the second half is always the most powerful half. It is Libra that provides the nexus for the next big thing with the emphasis on November 2024 to November 2029.
Table 2
You may be in for a big surprise with Libra – I certainly was! I have just completed extensive research on every Libra micro-age and Libra micro-age decan that has appeared in the world since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in 1433. It is only through solid research that some confidence can be achieved in any predictive process. A naïve expectation of a Libra micro-age decan is that it may promote art, women, justice, parties, alliances, parks and gardens and so on. Well, I can confirm that all these are associated with nearly every Libra micro-age or micro-age decan, but the most notable and strongest element associated with these Libra periods is not only war and conflict, but war and conflict at the upper level of possibilities and that usually breaks new ground in its extent and destruction.
Following are extracts from my previous research with the focus upon the details of war and conflict in previous Libra micro-ages or micro-age decans since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius:
Libra micro-age and overflow (March 1463 – March 1478 – March 1493)
In 1482 King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain, whose marriage finally united Christian Spain, started the Granada War (Reconquista) to expel their multi-centuries opponents in Spain – the Islamic Moors back to Africa. The Reconquista was successfully brought to an end by Spain in 1491 (near the end of this Libra period in early 1493). This was a major adjustment and enhancement to the map of Europe. Spain quickly became the world superpower of the times due to its unification and the conquest of the New World following the discoveries of Christopher Columbus of the Americas in 1492.
In Britain, the War of the Roses commenced before this Libran period but was mainly resolved within it (under Libra, an existing conflict can get resolved). After Richard III from the House of York was killed and his forces defeated, Henry VII from the House of Lancaster took the throne and married Elizabeth of York, the eldest daughter and heir of Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville, thereby again uniting the claims from the two Houses. The House of Tudor ruled England until 1603, with the death of Elizabeth I, granddaughter of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York.
This period witnessed a major European division with the ‘divorce’ of England from the Roman Catholic Church over the issues of multiple (Libra) marriages by King Henry VIII. This breakup occurred simultaneously with the beginning of the Protestant movement in earnest spearheaded by Martin Luther in Germany leading to a major religious-political schism in Europe. Spain and Portugal were dividing the world in two preparing for the massive European invasion of the world over the following centuries and the Austrian and Turks commenced a bitter 150 years of conflict. This period closely matches the current Libra micro-age and overthrow and it is interesting that in both, we see the widening separation of Britain from continetal Europe.
Relatively quickly, this period commenced with the Anglo-Spanish War (1585–1604) which included the famous Spanish Armada (1588) with 130 ships and 30,000 men when Catholic Spain attempted to invade Protestant England and dispose Queen Elizabeth 1 but failed miserably at the hands of what constituted the British navy. The English countered with two armadas against Spain which both failed, and Spain sent a second armada against England which also failed due to bad weather. At this time Spain was the world’s superpower. The victory was acclaimed by the English as their greatest since Agincourt.
The War of the Three Henrys (1587-89) was one of a series of French civil wars under the umbrella of the French Wars of Religion (1562 – 98). The war was instigated by Spain to keep France from interfering with the Spanish army in the Netherlands and the Spanish invasion of England – there were so many wars that they had wars within wars! The Eighty Years’ War commencing in 1568 (before this Libra period) was basically a Protestant revolt of what are today the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg against the superpower of Catholic Spain, and by 1587 the newly formed Dutch Republic was successful in commencing the Dutch Golden Age lasting until 1672.[2]
In the Far East the first Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592 was really the beginning of a proxy war between Japan and China with Korea the stepping stone from Japan to China. The conflict ended in 1598 after Japan’s second unsuccessful invasion followed by the withdrawal of the Japanese forces from the Korean Peninsula after a military stalemate (appropriate for Libra). This war resulted in an imbalance of power within Japan with the Toyotomi clan’s power significantly weakened due to the exhaustion of its armed forces for the failed Korean conflict and the opposing Tokugawa clan, who had abstained from the war, and with their armed forces in tack, were able to eventually triumphed in this civil war (post this Libra period). The association of Scorpio with Japan activates the difficult 12th house when a Libra period appears and rarely does anything positive come from the 12th house.
The British Civil Wars (1639 – 1653) included rebellions, civil wars and invasions with the most important being the English Civil War which ended when the English parliamentarian army won followed by the execution of the king, the abolition of the monarchy, and the founding of the Commonwealth of England which lasted until 1660 only a few years past the end of this Libra period. [3] No English king had ever been previously executed. The English Civil War was a major event in the history of the UK and is the second example of regime change in England under Libra.
The Nine Years’ War (1688–1697) had already commenced prior to this Libra period, but it was mostly within the Libra period that the fiercest fighting occurred in 1692-3. It was a conflict between France and an opposing European coalition which included England, Spain and Portugal with theaters also in North America and India. Its importance in association with this Libra period is that this war is considered to be the first global war and while war has been endemic over the last many thousands of years, Libra seems to inspire war and conflict at the upper level. This global war is considered a precursor to the two world wars of the 20th century.
The Nine Years’ War encompassed Ireland and Jacobite risings in Scotland (with some later elements of the Jacobite risings partly portrayed in the TV series Outlander), and North America between French and English settlers and their respective Indigenous allies. England was once again threatened by invasion, this time by the new European bully – France, but was thwarted by the destruction of the French navy in 1692. The last year of this Libra period saw the beginning of the War of the Spanish Succession (1701–1714) due to unresolved issues of the Nine Years’ War with a focus on maintaining the (Libra) balance of power between different European countries.[4]
War also makes its mark with the beginning of the Seven Years’ War (1756 – 1763) commencing at the very end of this Libra period. Such was the magnitude of the Seven Years’ War that some historians call it World War Zero as many considered it a world war[5] harking back to the Nine Years’ War (1688–1697) of the previous Libra period that was considered the first global war. This strongly insinuates a diachronic relationship between major wars and these Libra periods.
The Seven Years’ War was the outcome of the Diplomatic Revolution of 1756 involving a major realignment of European alliances which shifted the European balance of power – always part of the Libra milieu. Austria shifted alliances away from Great Britain to France, while Prussia shifted to Great Britain. The Seven Years’ War was between Great Britain and France with most European countries aligned one way or the other. The result of the Seven Years’ War propelled Great Britain into its superpower status, and curtailed France and Spain. The Seven Years’ War in the North American theater was called the French and Indian War (1754 – 1763).
This Libra period begins with the largest astrological transition following the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in 1433. 1791 experienced a change in the quasi age-decan (Pisces to Libra), sub-age (Sagittarius to Scorpio) and sub-age decan (Sagittarius to Cancer). It therefore appropriately commenced with the French Royal Family’s flight in disguise to Varennes where they were captured with the king and queen ultimately executed. The French Revolution was already underway before this Libra period but the frenzy of beheadings was delayed until after the arrival of the deadly Scorpio sub-age in 1791 with Scorpio’s focus on death and destruction.
The main war in this Libra period was the Napoleonic Wars (1805 – 1815) and included the minor War of 1812 between the UK and the USA which ended in a stalemate. The wars had profound consequences on global history, including the spread of nationalism and liberalism, the rise of Britain as the world’s foremost naval and economic power for its almost a century and a half as the world’s superpower, the appearance of independence movements in Latin America and subsequent collapse of the Spanish Empire and Portuguese Empire, the fundamental reorganization of German and Italian territories into larger states, and the introduction of radically new methods of conducting warfare, as well as advances in civil law.
More French soldiers were casualties in the Napoleonic wars than in the First World War – it is estimated that five million people died due to the Napoleonic Wars. The Napoleonic Wars transformed war into total war due to the massive escalation of the size and scope of the conflicts which is also an acknowledgment of the role played by the Sagittarius sub-age overflow (1791 – 1970) which has produced the ‘big’ modern world of mass production and mass consumption, including the mass production of military weapons and massive wars. The Napoleonic Wars were another stepping stone from pre-industrial wars to the two world wars of the 20th century.
The main focus in this period is the American Civil War (1861 – 65) and again, Libra contributed towards this war, as it ultimately was based on giving justice to slaves. The American Civil War occurred near the beginning of the Pisces sub-age decan and overflow (1851 – 1910 – 1970), and it was this Pisces SAD&OF that ultimately raised the USA into the age-empire of our age. Whereas Pisces is strongly located in the European astrological signature, it takes first place in the USA’s astrological signature – though to be technically correct, the USA is the empire of the Pisces-Aquarius age. Similar to Pisces’ ability to split Europe due to the two fish swimming in opposite directions, Pisces can also split the USA, and because it did so early in the Pisces SAD&OF, the USA had plenty of time to capitalize upon the power Pisces has brought and rise to its role as the major superpower in the world.
The American Civil War was dwarfed by the Taiping rebellion (1850 – 1864) in China which was the bloodiest civil war in world history, with 30 to 50 million dead and mostly contained within this Libra period. This period closely matches the current Libra micro-age and overthrow and does not support a time of internal strength for either the USA or China.
Of course, the major event in this period was the monumental man-made disaster of the First World War triggered when the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated in 1914, with the USA entering in 1917 and concluding on 11 November 1918. With around 22 million deaths, it was one of the largest wars and deadliest conflicts in history. It again confirms that each of these relatively small Libra periods, sitting within the Libra age decan (1433 – 2149), outstrips previous Libra periods in pushing the war envelope.
The Next Big Thing
Each and every Libra micro-age or micro-age decan since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius has a focus on upper-level major conflicts with ever-increasing violence and destruction, and if the current Libra MADOF (Nov 2024 – Nov 2029) follows form, a major conflict is on our doorstep. The most likely timeframe is from November 2024 onward for almost five years but it could commence any time between now and November 2024. Who will be the combatants in this new conflict? The most likely scenario is the USA, its NATO allies and other Anglo-Saxon nations against China and Russia as these two blocs represents the current strongest international balance of power, and though it is extremely unlikely that either side will destroy or annihilate the opposing bloc, some modification or new kind of international order is likely to evolve from this conflict if the past is any guide.
With the two main protagonists being the USA and China, a brief examination of both may provide relevant insights into its performance in such an international tussle.
China
Libra is a significant sign in China’s astrological signature as Libra is associated with the whole of the Far East. In the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 1527 – Dec 1532 – Nov 1537) China was having difficulties, and in 1528 to 1530 in Henan province, an enormous drought coupled with a gigantic swarm of locusts deprived the region of harvests for the next two years, killing off half the people in some communities, due to starvation and cannibalism. However, this could also be attributable to the overlapping Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow that was at its most potent in the second half of this period (i.e. December 1527 – December 1532) especially taking into account the disruptive ability of Aquarius.
The following Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Aug 1582 – Jul 1592) saw the first Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592 which was really the beginning of a proxy war between Japan and China with Korea the stepping stone from Japan to China. The conflict ended in 1598 after Japan’s second unsuccessful invasion followed by the withdrawal of the Japanese forces from the Korean Peninsula after a military stalemate. This period closely matches the current Libra micro-age and overthrow.
China was also a major focus within the next Libra micro-age and overflow (Apr 1627 – May 1642 – Apr 1657). In 1627 the Manchus took advantage of Korea’s war-weakened state due to the unsuccessful Japanese invasion in the previous Libra period and invaded in 1627 and 1637, and this was even before the Manchus had taken over China. In 1641 a massive epidemic struck in northern and central China with some local areas and towns having 90% of the local populace wiped out, which may have contributed to the fall of the Ming Dynasty just three years later. In 1644 the invading Qing army captured Beijing marking the beginning of Manchu rule over China proper. The Ming dynasty had ruled over China from 1368 to 1644 while the Qing dynasty survived until 1912 (also in a Libra period). This major and highly significant political development in China supports a close connection between Libra and China. Libra is associated with major events in China.
China’s affinity to Libra was again on display in the Libra micro-age and overflow (Jun 1791 – Apr 1806 – Mar 1821) when in 1793, the isolationist Chinese government rebuffed an attempt by the British to sell their manufactured goods to China and install a British ambassador in the Chinese court. In 1796 the White Lotus Society, whose core belief is that a future Buddha will usher in an era of peace and plenty, commenced revolutionary activity against the oppressive Chinese government. The White Lotus Society also appropriately worshipped their Unborn Venerable Mother at the beginning of the Cancer sub-age decan and overflow (1791 – 1851 – 1910). This same movement was behind the rise of the Ming dynasty liberating China from its Mongolian rulers in 1387. Their first revolution in the 1330s was unsuccessful,[6] but this did occur before the arrival of the Age of Aquarius. However, it did take place in a Libra micro-age and overflow (1314 – 1329 – 1344) within the Pisces sub-age (1254 – 1433) in its Cancer sub-age decan (1314 – 1373). Their success in 1387 was in the Cancer sub-age overflow (1373 – 1433) which supports the notion that while Libra is associated with China, its Cancer connection is stronger.
Finally in the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 1910 – Nov 1915 – Oct 1920) commenced with the formation of the Republic of China in 1912 after a revolution that overthrew the Qing dynasty, ending 5,000 years of monarchy in China and 267 years of the Manchu dynasty.
Obviously Libra is a sign of ferment for China and suggests that major calamities are often on its doorstep and often indicate dynastic/regime change. If Cancer is the primary sign for China, Libra activated the lowly 4th house and detracts from its 10th house of government and authority. If the approaching conflict deeply involves China, it does not portend a favorable result for China, unless a possible regime change turns out to be favorable?
The current Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2059) is not favorable to China (especially in the second half) as Gemini sits at the 12th house position to China’s Cancer and more importantly in opposition to Sagittarius – a sign strongly associated with China. However, within this Gemini age-decan is the Cancer micro-age and overflow (2000 – 2014 – 2019) and we have seen China’s rise to the second strongest superpower in the world under this micro-age and overflow. This rise is so potent, many pundits have claimed that China will become the number one superpower soon. However, there are only a few more years of the Cancer micro-age overflow concluding in November 2029 with a waning influence over China for the following 10 years as it confronts the opposing Capricorn micro-age decan and overflow (Nov 2029 – Oct 2034 – Oct 2039). This will not be a fortuitous period for many parts of the world, and specifically Cancer-orientated regions such as China, Russia, the Middle East and Islamic countries.
USA
What is the astrological environment for the USA in the approaching possible major conflict? The American Civil War demonstrated that the USA was and remains like conjoined twins, who can never get away from each other and often detest each other. This is again the reality in the USA when the rural voters throughout the USA voted for Trump, while urban areas voted Democrat. The end of 2021 is equivalent to 1858 – only three years before the beginning of the American Civil War. Does this mean that the USA is heading for another civil war?
Table 3
A very good argument can be made that the USA is heading towards a period of even greater internal conflict than has been experienced over the last five years, but the world is no longer in the Pisces sub-age decan (highlighted in yellow in Table 3) as was the case with the Civil War. Pisces at strength is probably needed for the USA to tear itself apart – though the USA’s second sign on its totem pole, Aquarius, also has a love-hate relationship with the USA. In place of Pisces, the world is currently under the influence of the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088) but Gemini is not part of the astrological signature for the USA. However, the American Civil War did occur in the Gemini micro-age, or to be technically exact, the Cancer-Gemini micro-age (1851 – 66), as it is also this decade.
The American Civil War occurred at the highpoint of the Cancer sub-age decan and overflow (1791 – 1851 – 1910) and Cancer is opposite Capricorn, the third strongest sign in the USA’s astrological signature. When those settlers stepped ashore in Jamestown in 1607, they did so near the very end of the first sub-age in the Age of Aquarius – the Capricorn sub-age (1433 – 1612) and also within the last micro-age in the Capricorn sub-age, the Capricorn micro-age (1597 – 1612) so Capricorn became a key sign for the future USA. The current Cancer micro-age and overflow (2000 – 2014 – 2029) will also provoke tensions in the USA but compared to the 18th century, this Cancer influence is very mild compared to the 19th century.
With Pisces the strongest sign for the USA, and Cancer opposed to Capricorn, the third strongest sign in the astrological signature, the current Gemini SAD&OF is not of the same league. However, Gemini is probably detrimental to the USA on the world stage, as Gemini sits at the lowly 4th house position to Pisces which detracts from its 10th house authority, and shifts the focus to domestic over international issues – which was played out by Trump through avoiding new foreign wars or conflicts, and extracting US troops from ongoing international conflicts whenever possible. President Biden has continued this trend with the withdrawal of American military from Afghanistan in 2021. The USA is most likely heading towards some form of isolationism for most of the rest of the 21st century due to the Gemini sub-age decan overflow (2029 – 2088) except where commercial interests are concerned.
Apart from Gemini and Cancer, the other common sign between the American Civil War and the current Libra MAD&OF is that they both occur within the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2149) and Scorpio indicates that the world currently does not exist in a time of stability, but a time of wrenching change, transformation and evolution. Life is not meant to be stable and peaceful under Scorpio. Scorpio is the sign of our times.
We can certainly expect a period of greater lack of social and political cohesion in the USA, especially in the Libra MAD&OF (Nov 24 – Nov 29) with the situation deteriorating beforehand, but it should be nowhere near the level of stress that existed in the buildup and execution of the American Civil War. If the major problem the USA is faced with is not civil war or vigorous internal dissent, how will it handle a possible major external conflict?
It cannot be overstressed that the USA is the age-empire of our time, and once an age-empire gets established, they don’t like to be kicked around, and they tend to have longevity – at least for the first half of the age, which means the USA should retain its international position until at least the midway point of the Age of Aquarius around 2507 AD. In contrast, China has a far more resilient history for cultural longevity, but not for its ruling dynasties or regime who come and go regularly (similar to the lunation cycle). If China is the main protagonist in any approaching international military polarization, it will continue to exist afterward, but it may be politically restructured – as has been the case for the previous thousands of years.
The Libra age-decan and overflow (1433 – 2149 – 2865) does not suggest the eradication of opponents, as Libra is the sign of balance. For most of the current millennia, a major polarization in the world is indicated, and this polarization will strengthen over the coming centuries. This is in strong contrast to the last two ages at least. This strongly suggests that China, for better or worse, will remain as the yin balance to American yang for most of this Millennium. Therefore any approaching conflict may represent one of a number of international adjustments of this very long-term geopolitical situation?
Extent of the Conflict
Finally, what icould be the nature of the coming conflict? Each Libra period appears to outstrip the previous one in ferocity, and so if this is literally taken to be the case in the coming conflagration, the use of atomic weapons cannot be ignored as nations have historically used every means of weaponry available to defeat their enemies. This is reinforced by the fact that the world remains in the most potent quarter (1970 – 2059) of the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2148). The risk level for atomic weapons remains very high until 2059 at least. Another viable possibility is that in place of open warfare, the world descends to all-out cyber warfare, as Scorpio is a key driver for the internet (along with Gemini).
If you examine Table 4, the strongest zodiacal signs are when the Overflow and Quasi periods are of the same sign. This only applies to the sub-age and age and confirms the volatility of Scorpio and atomic weapons or cyberwar. The Pisces age overflow and Pisces quasi-age provide the base environment for this situation and the major influence in the world until around 2507. This therefore promotes the possible precipitation for conflict could be the South China Sea as the oceans and islands are ruled by Pisces. It must be remembered that under the sign Aquarius, society and nations are more prone and likely to adopt extreme policies far outside the realm of normality – and this extremism leads to disruption as the first half of the 20th century so adequately demonstrated.
Table 4
For the rest of the world, a bunch of islands and reefs recently occupied and claimed by China in the South China Sea may seem a ridiculous precipitation for an international conflict but not according to Daniel Yergin, author of The New Map:
China’s efforts to assert sovereignty in the South China Sea is perhaps the most volatile foreign policy issue in the world today. Through its waters pass $US3.5 trillion of world trade — two-thirds of China’s maritime trade, and over 40 percent of Japan’s and 30 percent of total world trade. Eighty percent of China’s oil imports pass through it. Its waters are crucial for food security. It provides much of the seafood consumed both in China, the world’s largest consumer of fish, and Southeast Asia.
Those waters are also fraught with risk. ‘A single irresponsible action or instigation of conflict,’ warned Vietnam’s prime minister, ‘could well lead to the interruption of these huge trade flows, with unforeseeable consequences not only to regional economies but also to the entire world.’
Even while writing this blog, the USA, UK and Australia announced in September 2021 a major new military project Aukus to build a number of nuclear submarines in Australia. This is obviously aimed at China due to the perceived recent strategic advancement of China in the Pacific and Indian oceans indicating that the heat is rising and the international balance of power is being stressed. China is also currently overflying its military aircraft into Taiwan’s air space which is a classic example of sabre-rattling.
China’s main sign is Cancer, the sign of perimeters and thus borders, and China does not have a history of military engagements with countries not on its borders – unlike the Europeans and their offspring’s who historically have marauded everywhere possible. But the South China Sea is on China’s borders, as is Taiwan, Tibet, Korea, Nepal and India and a number of other countries. Any coming conflict with China is bound to be on its ‘edges’.
Of course, there is no guarantee that any major conflict is identical to what I have indicated above. This is where expertise in mundane astrology with the outer planetary cycles providing some fine-tuning would be a positive addition to my arsenal of techniques, but my 30 years and more of research into the astrological ages has prevented me from learning traditional mundane astrology to any proficiency.
Despite the unknowns of the precipitation and source of any new major conflict, the astrological reality of a major conflict is very strong, with finer details more speculative. Will it be considered a Third World War? Even in this worst-case scenario, it does not have the astrological background to compete with the two world wars of the 20th century. The astrology of the first half of the 20th century was a cauldron of extremely potent astrological forces. The key element was the Pisces sub-age decan and overflow (1851 – 1910 – 1970) with the most potent quarter 1910 – 1940 and this level of Pisces will not be experienced in the world for around another 25,000 years. Secondly, the Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 1925 – 1940) was three times stronger and more powerful than our current ‘mini’ Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) which nevertheless was still capable of bringing the world to its symbolic knees with Coronavirus. The world has got off relatively easily with COVID-19 as the previous and next Aquarius periods are far stronger in their disruption compared to the current one.
The next international turmoil that could rival the Pisces sub-age decan and overflow (1851 – 1910 – 1970) is the Aquarius sub-age decan and overflow (2029 – 2088 – 2149) especially in its third-quarter from 2088 to 2118 as this coming substantial Aquarius period resonates with the emergent Age of Aquarius. The coming Aquarius period towards the end of this century is so potent that it is probable that the likes of Trump’s supporters that stormed the US Congress in early 2021 are likely to succeed and actually overthrow the government of the USA – perhaps only temporarily – perhaps charting a new autocratic direction for the USA? Even age-empires quake at age-decan cusps. In Ancient Egypt these age-decan cusps were basically aligned to the cusps of the Old, Middle and Late Kingdoms, and in Ancient Rome, the Roman Republic fell and was replaced by the Roman Empire ruled by dictatorial Caesars. Age-decan cusps are strongly related to regime change. The world is not facing these types of scenarios in the coming decade but the end of this century is another story!
If the world avoids a major international conflict in the coming decade, I will personally be very pleased but we cannot expect that rationality will succeed over nationalism and patriotism which will probably remain the underlying political impetus in the world until at least the midpoint of the Age of Aquarius around 2503. Until that time, the influence of Pisces remains stronger than Aquarius, even though the Age of Aquarius arrived in the 15th century. Humans evolve very slowly, and from a grand narrative, we are still only stepping out of caves, but with atomic weapons instead of spears. People a thousand years in the future will cringe at our backwardness – provided our backwardness does not wipe out humanity in the intervening period. It is extremely unlikely we will have a world devoid of wars and violence without an effective international government – and even then, further international civil wars could still occur if science fiction movies have any credibility?
The astrology indicates that the next big thing should be war or some alternative style of major conflict – above and beyond what the world has experienced since the end of the Second World War, and I have provided some speculative scenarios of the combatants and details which may or may not be correct. We cannot expect astrology to provide a high-definition video with stereoscopic audio of the future as its track record does not support this. Much fanfare was made of the predictions of the COVID-19 pandemic by the French astrologer, the late Andre Barbault, but even in his predictions, he could not be definitive and he certainly did not get the finer details correct. However, merely defining the outline of the next big thing is an achievement in itself if it comes to pass!
However, there is another possibility that could occur in place of a major war – or in addition to a major war. The necessary international alliance required to tackle Climate Change is also more likely to take shape under the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024 – Nov 2029) with the second half (Nov 2024 – Nov 2029) the more likely timeframe. This may deteriorate into a bipolar approach to Climate Change with two intractable opposing sides, or it could be a success as Libra can bring peace or accord in a time of disagreement. A major conflict in parallel to a Climate Change accord is also a possibility.
There is one more hurdle between the world in 2021 and the approaching Libra highpoint around November 2024 and that is the replacement of the Cancer quasi micro-age (Jul 2007 – Jun 2022) with the Gemini quasi micro-age (Jun 2022 – Jan 2037) in June 2022. It must be remembered that the sub-prime mortgage crisis struck after the arrival of the Cancer quasi micro-age in July 2007. In another examples, the Soviet Union collapsed at the beginning of the Leo quasi micro-age (June 1991 – Jul 2007) under the influence of the Aquarius nano-age and overflow (Jun 1991 – Sep 1992 – Dec 1993). Apartheid in South Africa also collasped indicating the relevance of these quasi periods.
A quasi micro-age cusp is really a gear change, and the approaching cusp in June 2022 indicates a change down in gear for Cancer and a rise in gear for Gemini making their respective influences about equal. Furthermore, the first nano-age overflow in the approaching Gemini quasi micro-age is the Sagittarius nano-age overflow (Jun 2022 – Aug 2023) and it is always the case that each quasi period commences with a sub-period of the opposite sign introducing greater tension than normal. The Sagittarius nano-age and overflow (Mar 2021 – Jun 2022 – Aug 2028) will be a time of high stress for Gemini and could highlight issues associated with the internet, cities, commuter transportation, students and fragmentation.
Perhaps Greta Thunberg significantly increases her influence amongst students? Maybe the European Union struggles to retain all of its existing members? Does an internet crash or incident become a major liability in some way? Cities may start to flex their influence at Climate Change talks? Or the extraction of vehicles from fossil fuels accelerate? China comes off the boil and starts showing early signs of political fracture? My first choice is the internet. Unfortunately the track record of the human race is that governments will use any newly developed or created technology for war – and so we may expereince some kind of militarization of the internet.
Despite a war or major conflict prediction, Libra is not focused solely on conflict. There is always a focus upon females, both positive and negative, and we have already seen this with the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan severely curtailing the freedom of women and Texas’ almost suppression of abortion. Despite these dark forces that remain so prevalent in the world, previous Libra periods strongly suggest that it is still a forward march for female rights – especially under Libra sitting so strongly in the Age of Aquarius for almost the next thousand years. Another major area is art and artists – and we should see a focus and movement in that field as well. Art auction prices have recently increased. These and other areas such as justice associated with Libra such as Black Lives Matter will be explored in later posts. It’s early days yet for Libra!
Interesting facts
9/11 in 2001 occurred in the Leo micro-age decan overflow (Feb 2000 – Jan 2005) including the invasion of Afghanistan in retaliation. The withdrawal of US and allied troops in 2021 followed by the Taliban takeover occurred in the Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) with Leo and Aquarius opposite signs in the zodiac. Aquarius will undermine Leo.
9/11 took place around 19 months inside of the Gemini quasi sub-age decan (Feb 2000 – 2059) and this Gemini quasi sub-age decan is constructed from the Gemini sub-age and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088) with the quasi sub-age representing the more potent middle half of the sub-age and overflow. The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 occurred four months inside the Scorpio quasi sub-age decan (Aug 1940 – Feb 2000). In both cases, the USA was caught with its pants down as subsequent inquiries discovered they had enough intelligence to know what was coming, but failed to have the clarity to act upon the evidence. A Pisces age empire such as the USA will often lack (Virgo) qualities such as clarity.
The Pearl Harbor attack also occurred in the Scorpio nano-age (Aug 1940 – Nov 1941) while 9/11 occurred in a Gemini nano-age overflow (May 2001 – Aug 2002). In both attacks, not only were they near the very beginning of a quasi sub-age, but the nano-age in effect was of the exact same sign as the quasi sub-ages. The Scorpio nano-age at the beginning of the Scorpio quasi sub-age decan relates to Japan as Japan’s main sign is Scorpio, and Scorpio also rules surprise attacks. A similar Gemini connection to 9/11 has Gemini, the sign of the twins which involved the Twin Towers, and Gemini is traditionally the sign for Iraq and adjoining countries, as Iraq’s antecedents go back to Mesopotamia, the Gemini age empire – the very first age-empire tin the world.
Will the USA suffer a similar fate near the beginning of the next quasi sub-age – specifically the Aquarius quasi sub-age decan commencing 2059? With the USA’s primary sign Pisces, it cannot be expected to get the (Virgo) details correct. The first nano-age in the Aquarius quasi sub-age decan is an Aquarius nano-age and overflow, and if it follows form, there should be a strong Aquarian element in any future attack. It could also be an internal attack by extremists.
The Libra micro-age and overflow (Dec 1910 – Nov 1915 – Oct 1920) was the last Libra period before our current one (the Libra micro-age decan and overflow Dec 2019 – Nov 2024 – Nov 2029), and was a highly significant period where major inroads were made by females, war again broke new ground in ferocity and mindlessness and China broke free of its heredity monarchy. The focus towards female enfranchisement was mainly focused upon western nations – as has been the case since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in the 15th century when Europeans commenced their maritime discoveries followed by their ruthless conquest of the world.
Very quickly in 1911, International Women’s Day was celebrated for the first time across Europe. Even the theft of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa from the Louvre museum in Paris in the same year can be linked back to the speculation that the painting is the very first painting of the modern woman near the beginning of both the Age of Aquarius and Libra age-decan. Women went on trailblazing and in 1912 Harriet Quimby became the first woman to fly across the English Channel and the Woman Suffrage Procession took place in Washington DC led by Inez Milholland on horseback. The following year, Emily Davison, a British suffragette, ran out in front of the King’s horse, at The Derby and was critically trampled and died four days later in hospital. It was also noted in Great Britain that, in the absence of men due to the First World War, not only did women replace men in the munitions factory, they were twice as efficient compared to when they were staffed exclusively by men.[1]
The world did not wait for this Libra MAD to grant women the vote, but only very few countries or states did so before this period. An early country in this period was Norway when women got the vote in 1913. In contrast, in 1915, the US House of Representatives rejected a proposal to give women the right to vote but ferment was in the air, and Denmark gave women the vote and Iceland followed (allowing women over 40 voting rights). In 1916 Margaret Sanger opened the first US birth control clinic, a forerunner of Planned Parenthood and Republican Jeannette Rankin of Montana became the first woman elected to the US House of Representatives. In 1917, women won the right to vote in New York State notwithstanding the “Night of Terror” when influential suffragettes from the Silent Sentinels were deliberately subjected to physical assaults by guards while imprisoned – the Nazi’s did not invent fascism. The Russian Provisional Government enacted women’s suffrage and women were permitted to stand in national elections in the Netherlands.
As this Libra period came to a close, in 1918, most women in the UK over 30 were given the vote and Canadian women (excluding Quebec) were granted the right to vote in federal elections. Countess Constance Markievicz, while detained in Holloway Prison (London), became the first woman elected to the British House of Commons but did not take her seat. 1919 saw full women’s suffrage in the Netherland and finally at the 11th hour the United States Congress approved the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, which guaranteed suffrage to women and was ratified the following year.
Some famous women also became notable during this time. Mata Hari was arrested in Paris for spying in 1918 and Dr. Marie Stopes published her influential book Married Love in the U.K. In 1920, the Australian soprano Nellie Melba became history’s first well-known performer to make a radio broadcast when she sang two arias as part of an experimental series of broadcasts from a studio at the Marconi Company’s factory at Chelmsford in England. The Canadian-American actress, Mary Pickford (1892 – 1979), “the World’s Sweetheart” along with Charlie Chaplin and others founded United Artists in 1919 and was one of the 36 founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (created well after this Libra period). Pickford was one of the most popular actresses of the 1910s and 1920s, earning the nickname “Queen of the Movies”[2] and obviously filling in for the goddess Venus.

There are some other developments that are worth noting, commencing with the formation of the Republic of China in 1912 after a revolution which overthrew the Qing dynasty, ending 5,000 years of monarchy in China and 267 years of the Manchu dynasty. Libra has traditionally been associated with the Far East, and Libra seems to have a strong role in China’s astrological signature as opposed to Aries – common amongst all western nations. Also in 1912 the National Park Service was created in the USA, with parks and gardens also traditionally associated with Libra. In 1919 the Grand Canyon was made a National Park. This connection to parks is noteworthy for the developing connection between Libra and the environmental movement.
Also in 1919, the League of Nations was founded whose principal mission was to maintain world peace and thus providing a strong link to Libra. The USA’s innate Pisces’ nature saw it quickly retreat from international involvement and the US Senate spurned its membership of the League of Nations. While this league was an abject failure, the astrology suggests that this is a seed for greater things to come – the world government greatly feared by many conservatives everywhere but without such an entity, a world devoid of major conflict or war is extremely unlikely. In 1920, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) was founded and is linked to Libra’s preference for justice such as the Black Lives Matter movement. 1920 also witnessed the launching of Mahatma Gandhi’s Non-Cooperation Movement in India, with the goal of obtaining independence from onerous British rule. Earlier in this Libra period, Gandhi was leading the passive resistance against racial inequality in South Africa. Non-violent revolution is another hallmark of Libra.
1920 also saw the world’s first peaceful establishment of a social democratic government in Sweden. Social democracy theoretically promotes social justice within the framework of a liberal-democratic polity and a capitalist-oriented mixed economy, but wherever justice exists, so does Libra! Also in 1920, insulin was first isolated for the treatment of diabetes – the Libra disease due to Libra’s rulership of sugar and the current worldwide growing addiction to obesity as the new norm.
Libra has strong affinity to music, and so it is appropriate that jazz came of age under this Libra period. The Original Dixieland Jass Band made the genre’s first recordings early in 1917, and their Livery Stable Blues became the earliest released jazz record. In 1919, Kid Ory’s Original Creole Jazz Band of musicians from New Orleans began playing in San Francisco and Los Angeles.[3] This Libra period saw the birth of jazz as a major musical genre that displays no sign of abating its influence in the land of music.

It also made history by being the ‘first total war’ and again confirms that each of these relatively small Libra periods, sitting within the Libra age decan (1433 – 2149), outstrips previous Libra periods in pushing the war envelope. Unfortunately, this is an unsettling observation taking into account the current Libra micro-age decan and overflow (December 2019 – November 2024 – November 2029) – especially its second half (November 2024 – November 2029).
No one zodiacal sign is going to create conflict – most events are associated with an astrological signature composed of a number of distinct components. This Libra MAD&OF sits within the larger and more powerful Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 25 – 40). Aquarius was the key sign associated with the rise of the extreme politics of communism and fascism that dictated events in this 30 year period. Aquarius is the sign of disruption (not rainbows in the sky). The coup-de-gras however is the last of the three strongest manifestations of Pisces in the world which will not be experienced at such potency for around another 25,000 years. 1910 marked the highpoint of the Pisces sub-age decan and overflow (1851 – 1910 – 1970) resonating with the massive Pisces age overflow (1433 – 3581). This was the main game in town for the first half of the 20th century.
Pisces is also a key sign in Europe’s astrological signature, and the two world wars certainly saw Europe tear itself apart, something that is common in Europe whenever Pisces is strong. The previous major Pisces rift was the Protestant Reformation that split European Christians into two and resulted in numerous military conflicts including the attempted invasion of Great Britain by the Spanish Armada. Only some of the world events in the period 1910 to 1920 can be associated with Libra, and in macro-astrology it is necessary to cherry-pick historical events from the cauldron of all events.
There is no doubt that despite the First World War women were on the move in this Libra period, and many first world nations commenced the path of voting rights for women. Women also broke new ground in their public achievements and notability – even notoriety. China’s affinity to Libra was again witnessed with the final overthrow of monarchial government after 5,000 years. The forerunner of the United Nations, the League of Nations, appeared as a well-meaning project that failed but is a sign of things to come over the coming centuries. The non-violent approach to politics was appropriately instigated by Gandhi – first in his homeland of South Africa, then India – much to the consternation of the arrogant British authorities. The maturation of jazz in this period is another acknowledgment of Libra and the coming of age of the USA – the age-empire of our times.
The First World War again demonstrates the link between major conflict and Libra not to mention that the momentum of violence unleashed upon the world by the Aries age and overflow ( 2862BC – 715 BC – 1433 AD) remains a potent negative force to be dealt with, and will probably be the main international focus in the second half of the Libra age-decan and overflow (1433 – 2149 – 2865) most likely due to an effective international body resembling a world government of some degree or other.
The main military focus in this period is the American Civil War (1861 – 65) and again, Libra contributed towards this war, as it ultimately was based on giving justice to slaves. The American Civil War was among the earliest industrial wars in the world and many considered it the first major industrial war and thus again we see in a small Libra period the leap to a greater experience of war compared to any earlier war. According to various estimates, it is believed that between five hundred and one thousand women enlisted as soldiers on both sides of the war, disguised as men. [1]
The American Civil War occurred near the beginning of the Pisces sub-age decan and overflow (1851 – 1910 – 1970), and before the end of this Pisces SAD&OF, the USA became the age-empire of our age – or at least the greatest superpower in the world. Whereas Pisces is strongly located in the European astrological signature (probably in second place to Aries), it takes first place in the USA’s astrological signature – though to be technically correct, the USA is the empire of the Pisces-Aquarius age. Astrologically, the USA is the New Rome (though Constantinople also claimed that title).
Rome’s baptism occurred under the first Aries sub-age decan and overflow (297 BC – 237 BC – 177BC) of the Aries age overflow (715 BC – 1433 AD) associated to the Punic Wars with Carthage (264 BC – 146 BC) including Hannibal’s crossing of the Alps with his elephants. Rome’s final success in the Punic Wars, which eradicated its main rival, allowed Rome to go on and become one of the greatest ancient empires in the world. The USA came of age in the same astrological circumstances as Ancient Rome but invoking Pisces rather than Aries.
The American Civil War had implications beyond its borders. The line between the northern non-slave states and southern slave states actually marked the border between two very different styles of civilization that the European colonialists had imposed upon the whole of the Americas. North of the Mason-Dixon Line, the non-slave states of the USA plus Canada were mercantile oriented. Below the Mason-Dixon Line the Americas were a rural based economy, and resembled what the Spanish and Portuguese had implemented in Latin America. The southern plantation owners mimicked the Spanish ‘hacenderos’ modelled after the Ancient Roman ‘latifundia’ that were typically very large estates (almost fiefdoms) employing slave labor. Therefore the American Civil War attempted to push the borders of this clash of civilizations in the whole of the Americas southward to the Mexican border.[2]
The American Civil War demonstrated that internally, the USA was and remains like conjoined twins, who can never get away from each other, and often detest each other so deeply, they will go to war against each other. This is again the reality in the USA when the rural voters throughout the USA, especially the old southern states, voted for Trump, while urban areas voted Democrat. 2020 is equivalent to 1858 – only three years before the beginning of the American Civil War. Does this mean that the USA is heading for another civil war?
Table 1 – 2024 to29 is the first astrological anniversary of the American Civil War
A very good argument can be made that the USA is heading towards a period of even greater conflict than has been experienced over the last five years, but the world is no longer in the Pisces sub-age decan (highlighted in yellow in table 1) as was the case with the Civil War. In the absence of Pisces, there is no other support at present for the USA to tear itself apart until towards the end of this century at the earliest. In place of Pisces, the world is currently under the influence of the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088) but Gemini is not believed to be part of the astrological signature for the USA. However, the American Civil War did occur in the Gemini micro-age, or to be technically exact, the Cancer-Gemini micro-age (1851 – 66), as it is this decade.
Furthermore, the American Civil War occurred at the highpoint of the Cancer sub-age decan and overflow (1791 – 1851 – 1910) and Cancer is opposite Capricorn, the third strongest sign in the USA’s astrological signature. The last micro-age is also the Aquarius-Capricorn micro-age as the previous Aquarius micro-age overflowed onto the Capricorn micro-age. This signature was replicated in 1776 which also occurred in the following Aquarius-Capricorn micro-age (1761 – 76) representing the Capricorn sting-in-the-tail of the Capricorn sub-age and overflow (1433 – 1612 – 1791). Capricorn indeed is a key sign in the astrological signature of the USA. Even its final rise to the contemporary world superpower occurred in the Aquarius-Capricorn micro-age (1940 – 1955).
The influence of the current Cancer micro-age and overflow (2000-2014-2029) is detrimental to Capricorn associated USA as was the case in the Civil War. The overlapping Gemini micro-age and overflow (2014 – 2029 – 2044) is also probably detrimental to the USA, as Gemini sits at the lowly 4th house position to Pisces which detracts from its 10th house authority, and shifts the focus to domestic over international issues – which was played out by Trump through avoiding new foreign wars or conflicts, and extracting US troops from ongoing international conflicts whenever possible. Biden is showing signs of continuing this trend with the hasty withdrawal from Afganistan in 2021. The USA is most likely heading towards some form of isolationism or domestic focus for most of the rest of the 21st century due to the Gemini sub-age decan overflow (2029 – 2088).
Apart from Gemini and Cancer, the other common sign between the American Civil War and the current Libra MAD&OF is that they both occur within the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2149) and Scorpio indicates that the world currently does not exist in a time of (Taurus) stability, but a time of wrenching change, transformation, revolution and evolution. Life is not meant to be stable and peaceful under Scorpio. Scorpio is the sign of our times.
We can certainly expect a period of greater lack of social and political cohesion in the USA, especially in the Libra MADOF (Nov 24 – Nov 29) with the situation deteriorating beforehand, but it should be nowhere near the level of stress that existed in the buildup and execution of the American Civil War.
The tension was in the air very early in the 19th century Libra MAD&OF (May 1856 – May 1861 – Apr 1866). In the very first month, Lawrence, Kansas was captured and burned by pro-slavery forces and Congressman Preston Brooks of South Carolina beat Senator Charles Sumner with a cane in the hall of the United States Senate, for a speech Sumner had made attacking Southerners who sympathized with the pro-slavery violence in Kansas (“Bleeding Kansas”). Sumner was unable to return to duty for three years while he recovered and Brooks became a hero across the South. Also in this action-filled month, a group of followers of radical abolitionist John Brown killed five homesteaders in Franklin County, Kansas – known as the Pottawatomie massacre.
In 1857 the Supreme Court of the USA ruled that Blacks were not citizens and slaves could not sue for freedom. In the following year Abraham Lincoln accepted the Republican Party nomination for a seat in the US Senate, and delivered his House Divided speech in Springfield, Illinois. In 1859, John Brown raided the Harpers Ferry Armory in Harper’s Ferry, Virginia, in an unsuccessful bid to spark a general slave rebellion. Troops under Colonel Robert E. Lee overpowered John Brown, and he was hung for his efforts. The American Civil War was precipitated in 1860 when South Carolina became the first state to secede from the USA. In 1861, the Confederate States of America was formed, comprising the first seven break-away States.
By the end of 1865, the Thirteenth Amendment to the US Constitution was ratified by three-quarters of the states (including those states in secession) with slavery also legally outlawed in the last two slave states of Kentucky and Delaware. In the following year, the US Congress overwhelmingly passed the Civil Rights Act of 1866, the first federal legislation to protect the rights of African-Americans whereupon President Andrew Johnson vetoed the bill, only to have Congress override the veto.
Females
While the vision of the Virgin Mary in Lourdes in 1858 cannot solely be assigned to Libra, the promotion of a leading semi-mythical female figure of western culture can certainly be assigned to Libra.[3] The association with the Cancer-Pisces sub-age decan (1851 – 1910) provided further female promotion from Cancer with Pisces supplying the visionary element. The 1856 publication of Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin activated many American women in their denunciation of slavery.[4] Florence Nightingale became a national heroine by 1860 due to her overseeing the nursing of injured soldiers in the Crimean War.[5]
According to legend, when Lincoln was introduced to her at the White House, his first words were, “So this is the little lady who started this Great War.”
Women already had suffrage on Pitcairn Island, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and in 1856, this was extended to Norfolk Island. Also, the first known female private detective began work for the Pinkerton Detective Agency. In 1857 divorce became possible in the UK without requiring onerous parliamentary approval. Keeping to Libra’s matrimonial rulership, in 1858, The Wedding March by Felix Mendelssohn became a popular wedding recessional, after it was played at the marriage of Queen Victoria’s daughter Victoria, Princess Royal, to Prince Friedrich of Prussia.
1859 saw the founding of The Society for Promoting the Employment of Women at a time when there were few acceptable occupations for middle class women other than a governess or a lady’s companion – and thus society made it acceptable for women to be typists, hairdressers, printers, and bookkeepers. The Mary Institute was founded in Missouri and Tidskrift för hemmet, the first women’s magazine in the Nordic countries, began publication in Sweden. In 1860, the Nightingale Training School and Home for Nurses was opened in London becoming the first nursing school based on the ideas of Florence Nightingale.
Alice in Wonderland was introduced to the world by Lewis Carroll in 1865 and is considered one of the best-known and most popular works of English-language fiction. Among its first avid readers were Queen Victoria and the young Oscar Wilde.[6]
The Arts
Artistic developments are also in focus under Libra, and The Art Treasures of Great Britain in 1857 was an exhibition of fine art held in Manchester, England. It remains the largest art exhibition to be held in the UK, and even possibly in the world, with over 16,000 works and it attracted over 1.3 million visitors. Its selection and display of artworks had a formative influence on the public art collections that were then being established in the UK, such as the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The 1863 opening of Salon des Refusés (French for “exhibition of rejects”) in Paris had critics and the public ridicule the ‘refuses’ which had been rejected by the ‘official’ outlets supported by the French government. The rejected paintings included such now-famous paintings as Édouard Manet’s Déjeuner sur l’herbe (see below) and James McNeill Whistler’s Symphony in White, No. 1: The White Girl. But the critical attention also ended up legitimizing the emerging avant-garde painters. Manet’s early masterworks, The Luncheon on the Grass and Olympia, both painted in 1863, caused great controversy and served as rallying points for the young painters who would create Impressionism. Today, these are considered watershed paintings that mark the start of modern art[7] – appropriately commenced in this Libra period.
Richard Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde is one of many versions of a chivalric romance dated to the 12th century. The story is a tragedy about the adulterous love between the Cornish knight Tristan and the Irish princess Isolde while the details differ from one author to another, the overall plot structure remains much the same. The narrative predates and most likely influenced the Arthurian romance of Lancelot and Guinevere, and has had a substantial impact on Western art and literature. Richard Wagner produced his version in 1865 to great success. It had a painful birth as its chromatic harmonies were likened to “a perfume fog shot through with lightening”. Wagner depicted Tristan as a doomed romantic figure, while Isolde fulfils Wagner’s quintessential feminine role as the redeeming woman. His Tristan und Isolde is sometimes described as marking the start of modern music[8][9] and was highly influential upon the direction of classical music in the 20th century.
Justice
Libra’s quest for justice was also displayed in this period by John Stuart Mill when he published On Liberty in 1857. One quote from this work is:
“That the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others. His own good, either physical or moral, is not a sufficient warrant … Over himself, over his body and mind, the individual is sovereign”
With the above quote, even over 150 years later, most western nations remain retarded as explained by John Mills:
“… there is a risk of a “tyranny of the majority” in which the many oppress the few who, according to democratic ideals, have just as much a right to pursue their legitimate ends”[10]
If Aries is the sign of war, something in Libra opposes this, and this may explain why in this Libra period in 1864 the predecessor of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement was created by the First Geneva Convention, which is focused upon (Libra) justice. Specifically it defines “the basis on which rest the rules of international law for the protection of the victims of armed conflicts.”[11] Similarly, The forces of progress under Libra manifested in a famous bare-fist fight in England in 1860 that marked the end of this popular spectator sport.[13]
China
This Libra period was part of an extremely tempestuous century for China, probably due to the Cancer sub-age decan and overflow (1791 – 1851 – 1910) and so this Libra period was part of the Taiping Rebellion which was a massive civil war that was waged from 1850 to 1864 between the established Qing dynasty and the theocratic Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and became the bloodiest civil war in world history.[12] This cannot be directly attributed to Libra, but the Second Opium War (1856 to 1860) is a prime candidate. This war continued Great Britain’s and Europe’s tyrannical policy of forcing opium upon the Chinese population resulting in another loss for China, and Great Britain benefited by gaining Hong Kong as a British colony. This means that since December 2019, Hong Kong is experiencing an astrological anniversary as again the micro-ages and all smaller sub-periods are the same. This suggests that the contemporary Hong Kong situation has more to play out! The fall of Beijing to the Franco-British forces in 1860 involving the looting of the Chinese Emperors Summer Palace is also worth noting.
Conclusion
The American Civil War broke new ground in warfare, and probably introduced the first industrial war to the world. It seems that each new Libra micro-age or micro-age overflow makes a new breakthrough in the extent that war can be waged. The bloodiest civil war in world history with the Taiping Rebellion in China again promotes China’s Cancer-Libra credentials. Females were also breaking new ground with the vision of the Virgin Mary in Lourdes, Harriet Beecher Stowe’s “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”, and Florence Nightingale. Early examples of female suffrage occurred on Pitcairn and Norfolk Island. An early liberalization of divorce anand expansion of female employment appeared in the UK. Though fantasy, Alice in Wonderland was introduced to the world.
Possibly the largest artistic exhibition the world has seen with The Art Treasures of Great Britain and the public appearance of what would turn out to be Impressionist painters suggest that modern art commenced in this Libra period. Richard Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde appear to mark the beginning of modern music. John Stuart Mill’s publication On Liberty was another thrust towards justice that remains unrealized in today’s world, including the average First World country, and the appearance of the predecessor of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
