2024 in the Age of Aquarius

The world enters 2024 with several unresolved issues.  Some of the key issues at the end of 2023 leading into 2024 include the Israeli-Hamas conflict, the cost-of-living crisis, the housing crisis, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, widespread pessimism, the tail end of the Covid-19 pandemic, refugees and finally the possible election of Donald Trump as the president of the USA. There are also the outstanding discoveries of the James Web Space Telescope.

2024 remains another highly potent year compared to the average as the two key nano-ages that are activated in 2024 resonate with larger and more powerful periods. To arrive at any nano-age, it is necessary to start with an astrological age of some 2,150 years, and divide it into 12 sub-ages of approximately 178 years each.  These sub-ages can be further divided by 12 into micro-ages of some 15 years each.  These micro-ages can be divided by 12 into nano-ages of some 15 months each, and all these periods have three decans each, so a nano-age decan is approximately 5 months. [for more details, see The Age of Aquarius for Dummies ].

All the 5-month nano-age decans that will be in play up until November 2024 resonate with larger periods of the same sign.  For example, the Scorpio nano-age and overflow (Jun 22 – Aug 23 – Nov 24) resonates with the Scorpio sub-age overflow (1970 – 2149) [see Table 1].  Due to the resonance between the small Scorpio nano-age overflow with the far more influential Scorpio sub-age decan and sub-age overflow, the small Scorpio nano-age will have far more punch compared to a different nano-age or nano-age decan that has no resonance.

Table 1 – the Scorpio nano-age overflow (Aug 2023 – Nov 2024) strongly resonates with the Scorpio sub-age decan overflow and Scorpio sub-age overflow making this small Scorpio nano-age overflow potent. The quasi-period indicates which of the actual sign or overflow sign has the strongest impact. The three main signs for 2024 are Gemini, Libra and Scorpio.

The Scorpio nano-age overflow (August 2023 – November 2024)

The main story for 2024 is the continuing unfolding of the Scorpio nano-age overflow (Aug 23 – Nov 24).  Though Scorpio brings rebellions, revolutions, increased terrorism, nuclear threats and volcanic disruptions, it would be a mistake to state that 2024 will focus only on the difficult sides of Scorpio and that 2024 is therefore predicted to be a bad year.  The peaking of the Scorpio nano-age and overflow (Jun 22 – Aug 23 – Nov 24) in August 2023 quickly experienced its effects on Taurus-aligned Israel with the unexpected attack by Hamas fighters from Gaza bringing death and abduction to some border Israeli districts and reigniting passions around the world.

Though Israel appears to have the upper hand in the current round of conflict with Hamas, the astrology indicates another perspective.  Scorpio promotes assaults upon (Taurus) Israel, and Scorpio is a strong influence in the world for the whole of this century.  Under the same Scorpio sub-age overflow in the previous Pisces age, the Jews were expelled from Israel by the Romans in 135 AD.  This is equivalent to about the year 2105.  The problem for Israel is that they must win every battle, while the Palestinians in league with many sympathetic neighbors, only need to win the last battle.  This will most likely occur before the end of the current Scorpio sub-age overflow in 2149 but unlikely in our lifetimes.

Scorpio is also a frugal financial influence, and this has manifested as the cost-of-living crisis that has occurred in many countries throughout the world.  Typically, Scorpio undermines the economy and banks, but this time, its focus seems to be on the shortage of money due to inflation – especially in the poorer half of society.  This difficult financial prognosis should affect most of 2024, but its intensity should subside before the end of 2024.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine is unlikely to be resolved in Ukraine’s favor while Scorpio remains strong as Scorpio is strongly associated with Russia, and Scorpio’s opposite sign of Taurus seems associated with  Ukraine which was often called ‘the breadbasket of Europe’.  This may explain the current stalemate.

Other events associated with Scorpio include the eruption of the Icelandic volcano Fagradalsfjall in November 2023 following earlier eruptions in March 2021, August 2022 and July 2023.  This hive of activity followed 815 years of inactivity, and it is therefore notable that when it erupted around 1206 AD,[i] this occurred in the Taurus sub-age overflow (1075 – 1254) while the recent eruptions all occurred in the Scorpio sub-age overflow (1970 – 2149) with Taurus and Scorpio opposite signs.  Any volcanic eruption can be associated with Scorpio, and for Scorpio, Taurus is a stressful sign sitting at the 7th house position. We may not have seen the end of erupting Fagradalsfjall.

Scorpio is associated with space travel and exploration.  Naturally, dark matter and dark energy are associated with Scorpio and the great majority of the universe is believed composed of dark matter and energy.  One of the key positive foci of the Scorpio nano-age and overflow has been the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) which was launched in December 2021 and by August 2022, just within the Scorpio nano-age and overflow (Jun 22 – Aug 23 – Nov 24), started to provide insights into the early universe which has undermined much of the previous scientific expectations.

The JWST showed that primordial galaxies appeared much earlier.[ii] Judging by the reaction to the JWST images, a revolution is seeping throughout astronomy and the Standard Cosmological Model is under threat creating the Crisis in Cosmology[iii] – though in reality it is just an example of another step forward in our understanding of the universe.  Scorpio rules both revolutions and deep space, so these discoveries precipitated by the JWST perfectly correlate to this Scorpio nano-age and overflow as part of the skeleton of the massive Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2149)

Most people would expect that we are at the beginning of thousands of years of space exploration, but this is not what astrology indicates.  Our era of space exploration may only extend to the end of the next century when the influence of Scorpio peters out.  Other issues will replace space travel – for a while at least, and it could be many centuries before the world returns to intensive space exploration including space telescopes etc.  The economic trauma of climate change and major conflict in the 21st century may stifle space exploration before humanity regains its momentum established in the 20th century.

Libra nano-age (Aug 2023 – Nov 2024 – Feb 2026)

Table 2 – In November 2024, the Libra nano-age increases in strength as it goes into its overflow mode.  The Scorpio nano-age comes to an end while the Virgo nano-age makes its first tentative appearance.

The arrival of the Libra nano-age overflow in November 2024 is a major development because this Libra nano-age sits within the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024 – Nov 2029) which moves into its more potent overflow stage for the period November 2024 until November 2029 as the following Table 3 indicates.

Table 3 – The Gemini micro-age (and overlapping Cancer micro-age overflow) indicates that in November 2024, the Libra micro-age moves into its more powerful overflow mode.

This Libra nano-age and Libra micro-age decan sits within both the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2149) which itself sits at a critical point in the massive Libra age decan and overflow (1433 – 2149 – 2865) – see Table 4 below:

Table 4 – displaying the first third of the Age of Aquarius, specifically the Libra age-decan including the first four sub-ages of the Age of Aquarius.

The period November 2024 to November 2029 forms a critical part of the Libra age-decan backbone and will probably be the most potent period for most readers alive today other than those alive during the two decades surrounding 1970 – what colloquially is termed the Age of Aquarius but was actually the peak of the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2148) combining revolutionary Scorpio with revolutionary Aquarius and accounting for that massive cultural revolution that continues to pulsate through Western society today.

The last time the world experienced a Libra micro-age decan overflow was from 1915 to 1920 aligned with most of the First World War.   [see The Backbone of the Libra Age-Decan (1433 – 2149) ]. Also, it’s relevant to acknowledge the arrival of the Libra quasi nano-age (Apr 2024 – Jul 2025) which will again increase the likelihood of increased conflict in any current conflict, and an increase in conflict due to a new theater of war.

There is a good astrological reason why the prospect of a major war or conflict is gaining ground.  The current unrest between Palestinians and Israelis is in addition to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia which brought the most significant conflict back to Europe since the Second World War.  The world since early October 2023 now has two areas of greater tension than the normal African or South American wars or insurrections that always seem to exist.  Either of these two major conflagrations could lead to a much bigger conflict, or these two conflicts are setting a trend towards greater than average conflicts, and one or more new heightened conflicts could appear at any time and any one of these conflicts could get out of control.  This will be particularly potent from November 2024 onward when the Libra nano-age enters its overflow period and marks the start of the most potent time of conflict most people in the world will experience in their lives.  Occasionally Libra produces a peace treaty.

One example of the peace deals that also can be associated with Libra is the amnesty deal between the Spanish government and a Catalan separatist party in late 2023 which will allow the socialists to remain in power with the support of Catalonia.  The attempt by Catalonia to secede from Spain in late 2017 occurred under the revolutionary Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 14 – Dec 19 – Nov 24) but with the Aries nano-age and overflow (Mar 16 – Jun 17 – Sep 18) in play, activating the 12th house to Spain’s Taurus.  The fact that under the Scorpio-Libra[iv] nano-age (Aug 23 – Nov 24) a sort of reconciliation has occurred, is testimony to the treaty side of Libra, and also with Scorpio opposite Taurus Spain, this also activates the 7th house of alliances.  We may see another development in this story with the Aquarius nano-age decan and overflow (Jan 24 – Jun 24 – Nov 24).  The Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088) promotes fragmentation.

The reason why we get caught off guard by pandemics and high-level conflict is due to the march of micro-ages and their decans.  Every age has twelve sub-ages of around 178 years each, and these sub-ages have twelve micro-ages of almost 15 years each including three decans of almost five years each.  Hardly anyone today has experienced the power of Libra before the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 19 – Nov 24 – Nov 29) as the last time the world experienced such a Libra period was from 1910 to 1920, so we do not have a collective memory of the direct experience of Libra at this level.

The same occurred with the Covid-19 pandemic which correlated to the Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 19 – Nov 24) but the previous period when Aquarius had this strength was the Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 1925 – 1940) so very few people have experienced the extreme disruption Aquarius invariably brings in its wake.  Before the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow I did not realize that one of the main attributes introduced to an unsuspecting world by Aquarius is disruption – such as we experienced during the Covid times.

The current Libra sub-age (1970 – 2149) has three sub-age decans and the relevant sub-age decan for 2024 is the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088) with both Gemini and Libra dual-bodied signs.  This signifies that the world is returning to either a bipolar world or a fragmented world – or both. For better or worse, China will continue to extend its influence in the world, and ‘oppose’ or balance Western culture – one way or another. We are not going to be one big happy world this century or millennium as the Libra age-decan and overflow of the Aquarian age extends to 2865.  However, with Libra, there is always the possibility of peace accords and treaties.

Most of the manifestation of our tiny Libra nano-age and overflow should appear later in 2025, but Libra also promotes the reinstatement or elevation of the role of women.  While this is currently limited to mainly Western and modern nations, full social, legal and political equality remains elusive even in Western nations, and dwindles as we venture into Second World nations (Iran) with some reversals in Third World nations such as Afghanistan.  The world is currently in the Libra decan (1433 – 2149) of the Aquarian age (1433 – 3581), but while much progress has been made with women’s rights, this evolution in the world will require the addition of the Libra age-decan overflow (2149 – 2865) to see women’s rights as an entrenched global phenomenon.  This millennium is dedicated to women based on our place in the Age of Aquarius, but it will take most of the millennium to achieve.

Libra specifically implies equality, and as such has been the symbolic standard-bearer for post-Enlightenment equality and freedom in Western nations. All forms of art, beautiful objects, gardens, and the leisurely social life fall within Libra’s gambit. Libra rules young women and girls. On the downside, Libra themes encompass indecisiveness and hesitation, which may impede political decision-making. Any archetype associated with Libra’s opposite sign Aries is, in general, lacking in Libra, therefore Libra is not associated with major engineering feats, sport, and male heroes.

Libra relates to Protestantism, China and the oriental East in general, the USA and specifically with the USA government.  Any nation or region associated with Aries can either come under attack, or attack in a Libra period or suffer in some way. Aries is possibly associated with Australia, the whole of Europe and specifically Germany and the UK, plus Iran and Palestine.  Aries may also be associated with Afghanistan, Brazil, Canada, India, Mongolia, New Zealand, Russia and even the gun-toting USA for obvious reasons.  Though war and conflict are not predicted exclusively for these Aries-aligned nation, they could be combatants in any conflict ahead, especially China with its Libra credentials.

Nano-age decans

Gemini nano-age decan overflow (January – June 2024)

The Gemini nano-age decan will enter its overflow mode in January 2024 until June 2024.  This little Gemini nano-age is resonating with the Gemini micro-age (Dec 2014 – Nov 2029) which itself is part of the backbone of the Gemini sub-age decan (1970 – 2029) of the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2149).  Gemini is a big deal for most of this century and will make a splash in the first third of 2024.

Table 5 – the nano-age decans and overflows for 2024

Gemini promotes the communication revolution that has followed the establishment of the World Wide Web but is anti-anything associated with Sagittarius such as international travel, honesty and ethics.  Gemini focuses on youth and students and vocational education, but also on scams, online theft and youth crime which is seeing a worldwide surge.  Gemini is the sign of cities so should continue to promote the influx of the world’s population to ever-larger urban centers.

Any Sagittarian country can suffer under Gemini.  This may apply to Australia, China, India, Laos, Spain, Thailand, UK, USA, Israel and the Vatican City.  This country list is not exhaustive, so I may not catch all countries with Sagittarius strongly placed in their respective astrological signatures.  Gemini countries can come under focus for good or bad and include Iraq, the Koreas, Singapore, Syria and Tajikstan, which again is not complete. Gemini activates Pisces countries or regions 4th house of anti-status, so these are worth noting: Europe, France, Ireland, Mexico, Russia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, UK, USA, most Caribbean nations, Brunei, Cameroon, Czech Republic, most Polynesian countries, and Vatican City.

The relevance of this Gemini nano-age decan and especially its overflow is that most of the current century will have Gemini near the top of the totem pole due to the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088) and 2029 is fast approaching.  This little nano-age is yet another preview for the times ahead.

Aquarius nano-age decan and overflow (Jan 24 – Jun 24 – Nov 24)

We enter 2024 under the influence of the Gemini nano-age decan and overflow (Aug 23 – Jan 24 – Jun 24) and the world will again have to cope with Aquarius associated with the overlapping Aquarius nano-age decan and overflow (Jan 24 – Jun 24 – Nov 24) especially in its second half.  Both these influences also resonate with more powerful periods, so never a dull moment in 2024.  The one to watch the most is the Aquarius nano-age decan (Jan 2024 – Jun 2024) especially when it enters the Aquarius nano-age decan overflow (Jun 2024 – Nov 2024) as this is the sting-in-the-tail of the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 14 – Dec 19 – Nov 24) which has already upset much of the world with the arrival of Trump and populace right-wing politicians around the world, Brexit for Leo UK and the coup-de-gras – the Covid 19 pandemic that did more to interrupt the world than anything since the Second World War.

The sting-in-the-tail is the final fling of any sign, in this case, Aquarius.  What will Aquarius interrupt or significantly alter in 2024 – though mainly in the second half of 2024?  Firstly, it may see a resurgence of Covid-19.  COVID-19 appeared at the exact highpoint of the Aquarius micro-age and overflow in December 2019 and so this final sting-in-the-tail could see its return – but at a smaller scale and impact compared to its initial appearance.  It could also see something new that is an echo of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This Aquarius nano-age decan and overflow encompasses the US presidential elections in November 2024.  Will Trump return in all his glory, or will his place be filled with a clone?  Will the presidential election have an unexpected result? Aquarius empowers Russia so will Russia wipe Ukraine off the map or will Ukraine’s fight for (Aquarius) liberty and freedom succeed? Aquarius is not good for Israel and so Israel may face greater-than-expected challenges in war with Hamas?

Major themes associated with Aquarius comprise democracy; electricity; flight; eccentricity; dictators and tyrants. Anything new including modernity, fresh developments especially in the scientific, mechanical and electrical fields, concepts and views of the future, the avant-garde, unique, sudden and unexpected developments, and science fiction (with Pisces). On the dark side of Aquarius are fascists, dictators, tyrants and autocratic governments, such as Hitler, Mussolini, Pol Pot and now Putin. Electricity, computers, and all associated technology including flight and space travel are Aquarius. Eccentrics (the mad professor), schizophrenics, fringe dwellers, different or abnormal behavior, astrology, astronomy, explorers, and anything exciting or bizarre are usually associated. Finally, Aquarius does everything quickly, like a bolt of lightning or with unprecedented speed. Aquarius is probably associated with world government.  Aquarian periods are generally ‘exciting’.

Countries associated with Aquarius include Germany, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Turkey and the USA.  A number of these may take significant focus in any Aquarius period, and not necessarily for anything positive.  Leo countries can experience stress in an Aquarius period.  Such countries include France, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Koreas, Laos, Serbia, Thailand, UK, Zimbabwe and probably Ukraine. The full scope of the Aquarius nano-age decan and overflow as the sting-in-the-tail of the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow is the preview of a much larger Aquarius period whose might will not be experienced until around 2088 and beyond when the coming Aquarius sub-age decan and overflow (2029 – 2088 – 2149) peaks in 2088.  This approaching Aquarius sub-age decan and overflow is the baptism of the Age of Aquarius (1433 – 3581) and I am sure the world will be both shocked and surprised as to what Aquarius brings to the table, in the same way we have been shocked and surprised at what the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) has brought us – but on a much smaller scale.  Our soon-to-end little Aquarius period is the preview of the approximate 120 years Aquarius sub-age decan and overflow.  Many key developments that have gained traction in our little Aquarius period will see their fruition around 2088 and beyond.  This naturally includes AI and the marvels of our computer age.  The scientific validity of astrology will probably occur around 2088.

Conclusion

Though the focus in 2024 sits with the key nano-ages and their decans that apply, the world remains in the Cancer micro-age and overflow (2000 – 2014 – 2029), and Cancer will promote all domestic issues including the housing crisis and people looking for home – refugees.  Though not particularly in focus in 2024, they will remain contentious issues.  Cancer will continue to focus on all countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, the Middle East, any Islamic nation and of course China.

The invasion of Ukraine by Russia reflects the stress created between the Pisces and Aquarius ages.  Putin is a perfect reflection of the kind of leaders the world was forced to endure under the reign of the Pisces age while the Ukrainians prefer to live under Western-style liberal democracy fostered by Aquarius.  These types of conflicts and disputes will be entrenched in the world for quite some time. Nuclear threats and intimidation by the likes of Russia and North Korea should be expected at a minimum in 2024 as the world remains highly vulnerable under Scorpio. There could be an increased focus on nuclear power.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the result of the tail end of European colonialism when the West went out and conquered as much of the world as possible starting in the 15th century aligned with Pisces achieving its peak power in 1433 AD and washing over the following centuries.  The problem here is that the West has relinquished most of their conquered territories back to their original inhabitants since the Second World War, while the Israelis have tried to extend European imperialism past its use-by date.  The arguments by both sides are entirely understandable, but the track record shows that the Israelis will ultimately find themselves on the wrong side of history unless they learn how to peacefully co-exist with the Palestinians and their neighbors.

Covid-19 still may have a small punch left in its bag of tricks, or perhaps something similar will take its place in 2024.  Since the Great Recession (2007 – 2009), the world has seen central banks working overtime printing money to stimulate a sluggish world economic environment.  All that extra money slushing around can still only buy the same limited amount of goods available, so the price of shares in the stock market and real estate significantly increase, and then spread to consumer goods and services.  Such stimulatory packages intrinsically favor the rich half of society, as they own the majority of real estate and shares, while the poorer half of society must suffer a loss of purchasing power and thus experience a lower standard of living.

The increasingly pessimistic view of the world expressed by a growing number of people is a combination of Gemini and moody Cancer.  Gemini is opposite in nature to optimistic Sagittarius, and the ongoing influence from the Sagittarius sub-age and overflow (1612 – 1791 -1970) is currently being torn to shreds by the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088) to the detriment of optimism and the growth of Gemini pessimism.  The Cancer micro-age and overflow (2000 – 2024 – 2029) will make people hypersensitive and moody, thus producing a gloomy outlook for many people.

Finally, Scorpio remains the dominant influence for most of 2024 and Scorpio, amongst other things, is associated with inner truth and peace.  Though way outside the experience of most people, the strength of Scorpio in 2024 is as good as it gets for those rare seekers of Truth.  When the world presents itself at its blackest, it can coincide with when Truth is easiest to find compared to most times in history.  For those interested, you can fast-track your search at Words of Peace Global.

Note – Details on the Virgo nano-age (Nov 24 – Feb 26) and its Taurus nano-age decan (Nov 24 – Apr 25) will be posted later in 2024.

[iv] The Scorpio-Libra nano-age is another way of describing the period where the Scorpio nano-age overflow and overlapping Libra nano-age are in effect.

The Next BIG Thing! (Extended Version)

( Click here for the condensed version of this analysis )

Exhausted or bored with the COVID pandemic? What is the next big thing that will greatly impact the world?  What is a big thing?  If we start with contemporary history, 9/11 was the first big thing of this century.  As a consequence, the USA with the help of allies quickly invaded Afghanistan, found an excuse to invade Iraq in 2003 and resurrected the defacto Christian versus Islam modern Crusade against the infidels – the end result has been about as abysmal as the original Crusades about a thousand years earlier.  The next big thing to appear was the sub-prime mortgage crisis (2007 – 2010) in American real estate mortgages leading to the Global Recession (Global Financial Crisis).

Following or overlapping with the above, the Arab Spring commencing in Tunisia and soon spread to Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Syria, and Bahrain with unrest in Morocco, Iraq, Algeria, Iranian Khuzestan, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, and Sudan concluding by around 2012.  Out of the Arab Spring, or following Arab Winter (which extended to 2019 at least), evolved the Islamic State (ISIS) and by 2014 ISIS was able to drive Iraqi troops out of key cities and it even captured Mosel which it held until 2017.

Next came populace leaders such as Donald Trump (USA), Narendra Modi (India), Andrés Manuel López Obrador (Mexico), Matteo Salvini (Italy), Jair Bolsonaro (Brazil), Rodrigo Duterte (Philippines) and Boris Johnson (UK).  These populace leaders have usually polarized their societies and depending upon which side you take, they will make their country great again or are throwbacks to a previous uglier time in the world.  Finally, to cap off these two decades was COVID-19 creating the greatest disruption in the world since the Second World War. Based on precedent, there is every reason to believe that the world will continue to stumble from one upset or disaster to another as was the case with the first two decades of the 21st century, not to mention the last many thousands of years of disasters and turmoil that have plagued our world yet surprisingly, has never permanently dampened the human spirit.

The above provides a context for the extent of what the next big thing may be, but exactly what is next in line?  This may be answered by recognizing the hidden structure that strongly influences all of the above.  The hidden structure is the sub-periods of the current Age of Aquarius.  The most relevant sub-periods associated with the above are micro-ages and micro-age decans.  Each age of some 2150 years has 12 sub-ages of around 178 years, and these each have 12 micro-ages of slightly less than 15 years, and naturally, any decan will be a third – or nearly five years.

Table 1 – the Cancer micro-age and overflow (Feb 2000 – Nov 2029) including all micro-age decans and the following Gemini micro-age and overflow.

Table 1 outlines the relationship between these major events and the micro-ages and micro-age decans in effect:  The key common sign for the first three decades of the 21st century is Cancer due to the Cancer micro-age and overflow (Feb 2000 – Dec 2014 – Nov 2029).  Under the sign Cancer, there is a strong focus on Islamic nations as Islam is strongly associated with Cancer, being a Pisces-Cancer religion compared to its sibling Christianity which is a Pisces-Scorpio religion.  This helps explain the whole Islamic orientation of world politics since 9/11 commencing with the 9/11 attack on the USA, the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, the Arab Spring (and Winter) and the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban in 2021.

The Cancer micro-age (Feb 2000 – Dec 2014) commenced with the Leo micro-age decan overflow (Feb 2000 – Jan 2005) but Aquarius is the second strongest sign in the astrological signature for the USA (age empire of the Pisces-Aquarius age).  Leo will ‘attack’ Aquarius, which played out with 9/11.  The overlapping Pisces micro-age decan focused upon the primary sign for the USA which it harnessed in its invasion of Iraq in 2003 and its success is attributable to the Pisces quasi micro-age decan (Nov 2003 – Jul 2007) and not shown in Table 1.  All quasi periods indicate the upper half of the bell curve of strength and are derived from the combined second half of its foundation period and first half of its overflow period.

The Dot.com crash of 2000 is also worth mentioning as it was due to investors’ interest in internet-related companies which increased to a frenzied level following massive growth and adoption of the internet.  Under the Leo micro-age decan overflow (Feb 2000 – Jan 2005) Aquarius technology was under ‘attack’ due to Aquarius and Leo being opposite signs.  In April 2000 the Nasdaq Composite index fell 25% in just one week.

The sub-prime mortgage crisis (2007 – 2010) is readily associated with Cancer as homes are ruled by Cancer, and its appearance in 2007 basically coincided with the arrival of the Cancer quasi micro-age (Jul 2007 – Jun 2022) (not shown in Table 1) shifting Cancer up a gear.  There is also a strong Pisces element as the whole sub-prime fiasco was the typical American smoke-and-mirrors that American capitalists are regularly able to pull from their hat of deceptive tricks.

The path to the Great Recession (2007 – 09) is readily associated with the Scorpio micro-age decan and overflow (Jul 2007 – Jul 2012 – Dec 2014), and though this recession was nominally only a few years, it dampened the economies of many countries for many more years.  This same Scorpio micro-age decan and overflow (Jul 2007 – July 2012 – Dec 2014) also provided the revolutionary impetus for the Arab Spring (Dec 2010 – late 2014)[1] with Cancer also playing a dominant background influence.

Cancer is also the sign of populace leaders because Cancer is the sign of the common people and is opposite Capricorn – the sign of wisdom of the elders or wise people.  Though elements of populace leaders appeared before the Cancer micro-age overflow such as Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee alongside Arizona Senator John McCain, it was not until the Cancer micro-age overflow commencing December 2014 that they became a worldwide phenomenon. For example, Donald Trump won the US presidential elections in November 2015 and Rodrigo Duterte became president of the Philippines on 30 June 2016.

Cancer produces the anti-leader as under Cancer, the general public is more attuned to having their base political needs met, and will support anyone who panders to their desires regardless of the consequences as there is no future involved in the equation created by Cancer.  Cancer is also the hypersensitive sign of fear, and much of the policies of populace leaders was and is to stoke inherent fears of their supporters – especially by demonizing the objects of their fears – be they people of a different race, religion or attitudes, especially liberal attitudes.  This is why president Duerte of the Philippines was able to get away with the state-sponsored murder of drug users as the public feared them.

The nascent Aquarius element from the Aquarius micro-age decan (Dec 14 – Dec 19) also feeds into these populace leaders (as it did in the 1920s and 30s) as community, social and political norms are radicalized by Aquarius – Aquarius and Cancer are also associated with mental instability and helps explain the rise of conspiracy babble around the world that behaves like a virus!

Finally, the COVID-19 pandemic came to international attention the very same month that the Aquarius micro-age decan (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019) entered its more powerful Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024).  Aquarius is the sign of disruption, and the greatest disruption that human society has withstood to date was under the Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 2025 – 1940) which saw the First World War, Spanish flu, Great Depression, communism and the beginning of the Second World War.  The associated Aquarius quasi micro-age decan (Jun 2017 – Jun 2022) deemphasizes Aquarius to a certain extent in mid-2022 suggesting that this is around the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, or that it is all over bar some final angst in scattered counties around the world manifesting as the pandemic of the unvaccinated.

One of the truly surprising fruits of my research into the astrological ages and their sub-periods is that it is the decans that generally provide the most relevant insights.  For example, the previous big things since 2000 are mostly associated with micro-age decans.  It is these micro-age decans that provide the necessary background on the next big thing.

To gain a better understanding of what the next big thing may be, it is necessary to see what follows the Aquarius micro-age decan.  What ‘follows’ in macro-astrology is always an overlapping influence (as Table 2 indicates).  Firstly, since December 2014, the world entered the Cancer micro-age overflow (Dec 2014 – Nov 2029) but in December 2014 arrived the overlapping Gemini micro-age and overflow (Dec 2014 – Nov 2029 – Sep 2044) which commenced with the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024).  The next cab off the rank is the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024 – Nov 2029) and as usual, the second half is always the most powerful half.  It is Libra that provides the nexus for the next big thing with the emphasis on November 2024 to November 2029.

Table 2

You may be in for a big surprise with Libra – I certainly was!  I have just completed extensive research on every Libra micro-age and Libra micro-age decan that has appeared in the world since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in 1433.  It is only through solid research that some confidence can be achieved in any predictive process.  A naïve expectation of a Libra micro-age decan is that it may promote art, women, justice, parties, alliances, parks and gardens and so on.  Well, I can confirm that all these are associated with nearly every Libra micro-age or micro-age decan, but the most notable and strongest element associated with these Libra periods is not only war and conflict, but war and conflict at the upper level of possibilities and that usually breaks new ground in its extent and destruction.

Following are extracts from my previous research with the focus upon the details of war and conflict in previous Libra micro-ages or micro-age decans since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius:

Libra micro-age and overflow (March 1463 – March 1478 – March 1493)

In 1482 King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain, whose marriage finally united Christian Spain, started the Granada War (Reconquista) to expel their multi-centuries opponents in Spain – the Islamic Moors back to Africa. The Reconquista was successfully brought to an end by Spain in 1491 (near the end of this Libra period in early 1493).  This was a major adjustment and enhancement to the map of Europe.  Spain quickly became the world superpower of the times due to its unification and the conquest of the New World following the discoveries of Christopher Columbus of the Americas in 1492.

In Britain, the War of the Roses commenced before this Libran period but was mainly resolved within it (under Libra, an existing conflict can get resolved).  After Richard III from the House of York was killed and his forces defeated, Henry VII from the House of Lancaster took the throne and married Elizabeth of York, the eldest daughter and heir of Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville, thereby again uniting the claims from the two Houses. The House of Tudor ruled England until 1603, with the death of Elizabeth I, granddaughter of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York.

Libra micro-age decan and overflow (December 1527 – December 1532 – November 1537)

This period witnessed a major European division with the ‘divorce’ of England from the Roman Catholic Church over the issues of multiple (Libra) marriages by King Henry VIII.  This breakup occurred simultaneously with the beginning of the Protestant movement in earnest spearheaded by Martin Luther in Germany leading to a major religious-political schism in Europe. Spain and Portugal were dividing the world in two preparing for the massive European invasion of the world over the following centuries and the Austrian and Turks commenced a bitter 150 years of conflict. This period closely matches the current Libra micro-age and overthrow and it is interesting that in both, we see the widening separation of Britain from continetal Europe.

Libra micro-age decan and overflow (August 1582 – August 1587 – July 1592)

Relatively quickly, this period commenced with the Anglo-Spanish War (1585–1604) which included the famous Spanish Armada (1588) with 130 ships and 30,000 men when Catholic Spain attempted to invade Protestant England and dispose Queen Elizabeth 1 but failed miserably at the hands of what constituted the British navy.  The English countered with two armadas against Spain which both failed, and Spain sent a second armada against England which also failed due to bad weather.  At this time Spain was the world’s superpower.  The victory was acclaimed by the English as their greatest since Agincourt.

The War of the Three Henrys (1587-89) was one of a series of French civil wars under the umbrella of the French Wars of Religion (1562 – 98). The war was instigated by Spain to keep France from interfering with the Spanish army in the Netherlands and the Spanish invasion of England – there were so many wars that they had wars within wars!  The Eighty Years’ War commencing in 1568 (before this Libra period) was basically a Protestant revolt of what are today the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg against the superpower of Catholic Spain, and by 1587 the newly formed Dutch Republic was successful in commencing the Dutch Golden Age lasting until 1672.[2]

In the Far East the first Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592 was really the beginning of a proxy war between Japan and China with Korea the stepping stone from Japan to China. The conflict ended in 1598 after Japan’s second unsuccessful invasion followed by the withdrawal of the Japanese forces from the Korean Peninsula after a military stalemate (appropriate for Libra).  This war resulted in an imbalance of power within Japan with the Toyotomi clan’s power significantly weakened due to the exhaustion of its armed forces for the failed Korean conflict and the opposing Tokugawa clan, who had abstained from the war, and with their armed forces in tack, were able to eventually triumphed in this civil war (post this Libra period). The association of Scorpio with Japan activates the difficult 12th house when a Libra period appears and rarely does anything positive come from the 12th house.

Libra micro-age and overflow (April 1627 – May 1642 – April 1657)

The British Civil Wars (1639 – 1653) included rebellions, civil wars and invasions with the most important being the English Civil War which ended when the English parliamentarian army won followed by the execution of the king, the abolition of the monarchy, and the founding of the Commonwealth of England which lasted until 1660 only a few years past the end of this Libra period. [3] No English king had ever been previously executed.  The English Civil War was a major event in the history of the UK and is the second example of regime change in England under Libra.

Libra micro-age decan & overflow (Jan 1692 – Jan 1697 – Dec 1701)

The Nine Years’ War (1688–1697) had already commenced prior to this Libra period, but it was mostly within the Libra period that the fiercest fighting occurred in 1692-3.  It was a conflict between France and an opposing European coalition which included England, Spain and Portugal with theaters also in North America and India. Its importance in association with this Libra period is that this war is considered to be the first global war and while war has been endemic over the last many thousands of years, Libra seems to inspire war and conflict at the upper level. This global war is considered a precursor to the two world wars of the 20th century.

The Nine Years’ War encompassed Ireland and Jacobite risings in Scotland (with some later elements of the Jacobite risings partly portrayed in the TV series Outlander), and North America between French and English settlers and their respective Indigenous allies.  England was once again threatened by invasion, this time by the new European bully – France, but was thwarted by the destruction of the French navy in 1692.  The last year of this Libra period saw the beginning of the War of the Spanish Succession (1701–1714) due to unresolved issues of the Nine Years’ War with a focus on maintaining the (Libra) balance of power between different European countries.[4]

Libra micro-age decan & overflow (Sep 1746 – Sep 1751 – Aug 1756)

War also makes its mark with the beginning of the Seven Years’ War (1756 – 1763) commencing at the very end of this Libra period.  Such was the magnitude of the Seven Years’ War that some historians call it World War Zero as many considered it a world war[5] harking back to the Nine Years’ War (1688–1697) of the previous Libra period that was considered the first global war.  This strongly insinuates a diachronic relationship between major wars and these Libra periods.

The Seven Years’ War was the outcome of the Diplomatic Revolution of 1756 involving a major realignment of European alliances which shifted the European balance of power – always part of the Libra milieu. Austria shifted alliances away from Great Britain to France, while Prussia shifted to Great Britain.  The Seven Years’ War was between Great Britain and France with most European countries aligned one way or the other.  The result of the Seven Years’ War propelled Great Britain into its superpower status, and curtailed France and Spain.  The Seven Years’ War in the North American theater was called the French and Indian War (1754 – 1763).

Libra micro-age and overflow (June 1791 – April 1806 – March 1821)

This Libra period begins with the largest astrological transition following the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in 1433.   1791 experienced a change in the quasi age-decan (Pisces to Libra), sub-age (Sagittarius to Scorpio) and sub-age decan (Sagittarius to Cancer).  It therefore appropriately commenced with the French Royal Family’s flight in disguise to Varennes where they were captured with the king and queen ultimately executed. The French Revolution was already underway before this Libra period but the frenzy of beheadings was delayed until after the arrival of the deadly Scorpio sub-age in 1791 with Scorpio’s focus on death and destruction.

The main war in this Libra period was the Napoleonic Wars (1805 – 1815) and included the minor War of 1812 between the UK and the USA which ended in a stalemate.  The wars had profound consequences on global history, including the spread of nationalism and liberalism, the rise of Britain as the world’s foremost naval and economic power for its almost a century and a half as the world’s superpower, the appearance of independence movements in Latin America and subsequent collapse of the Spanish Empire and Portuguese Empire, the fundamental reorganization of German and Italian territories into larger states, and the introduction of radically new methods of conducting warfare, as well as advances in civil law.

More French soldiers were casualties in the Napoleonic wars than in the First World War – it is estimated that five million people died due to the Napoleonic Wars.  The Napoleonic Wars transformed war into total war due to the massive escalation of the size and scope of the conflicts which is also an acknowledgment of the role played by the Sagittarius sub-age overflow (1791 – 1970) which has produced the ‘big’ modern world of mass production and mass consumption, including the mass production of military weapons and massive wars.  The Napoleonic Wars were another stepping stone from pre-industrial wars to the two world wars of the 20th century.

Libra micro-age decan and overflow (May 1856 – May 1861 – Apr 1866)

The main focus in this period is the American Civil War (1861 – 65) and again, Libra contributed towards this war, as it ultimately was based on giving justice to slaves.  The American Civil War occurred near the beginning of the Pisces sub-age decan and overflow (1851 – 1910 – 1970), and it was this Pisces SAD&OF that ultimately raised the USA into the age-empire of our age.  Whereas Pisces is strongly located in the European astrological signature, it takes first place in the USA’s astrological signature – though to be technically correct, the USA is the empire of the Pisces-Aquarius age.  Similar to Pisces’ ability to split Europe due to the two fish swimming in opposite directions, Pisces can also split the USA, and because it did so early in the Pisces SAD&OF, the USA had plenty of time to capitalize upon the power Pisces has brought and rise to its role as the major superpower in the world.

The American Civil War was dwarfed by the Taiping rebellion (1850 – 1864) in China which was the bloodiest civil war in world history, with 30 to 50 million dead and mostly contained within this Libra period. This period closely matches the current Libra micro-age and overthrow and does not support a time of internal strength for either the USA or China.

Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 1910 – Nov 1915 – Oct 1920)

Of course, the major event in this period was the monumental man-made disaster of the First World War triggered when the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated in 1914, with the USA entering in 1917 and concluding on 11 November 1918.  With around 22 million deaths, it was one of the largest wars and deadliest conflicts in history. It again confirms that each of these relatively small Libra periods, sitting within the Libra age decan (1433 – 2149), outstrips previous Libra periods in pushing the war envelope.

The Next Big Thing

Each and every Libra micro-age or micro-age decan since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius has a focus on upper-level major conflicts with ever-increasing violence and destruction, and if the current Libra MADOF (Nov 2024 – Nov 2029) follows form, a major conflict is on our doorstep. The most likely timeframe is from November 2024 onward for almost five years but it could commence any time between now and November 2024.  Who will be the combatants in this new conflict?  The most likely scenario is the USA, its NATO allies and other Anglo-Saxon nations against China and Russia as these two blocs represents the current strongest international balance of power, and though it is extremely unlikely that either side will destroy or annihilate the opposing bloc, some modification or new kind of international order is likely to evolve from this conflict if the past is any guide.

With the two main protagonists being the USA and China, a brief examination of both may provide relevant insights into its performance in such an international tussle.

China

Libra is a significant sign in China’s astrological signature as Libra is associated with the whole of the Far East.  In the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 1527 – Dec 1532 – Nov 1537) China was having difficulties, and in 1528 to 1530 in Henan province, an enormous drought coupled with a gigantic swarm of locusts deprived the region of harvests for the next two years, killing off half the people in some communities, due to starvation and cannibalism.  However, this could also be attributable to the overlapping Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow that was at its most potent in the second half of this period (i.e. December 1527 – December 1532) especially taking into account the disruptive ability of Aquarius.

The following Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Aug 1582 – Jul 1592)  saw the first Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592 which was really the beginning of a proxy war between Japan and China with Korea the stepping stone from Japan to China. The conflict ended in 1598 after Japan’s second unsuccessful invasion followed by the withdrawal of the Japanese forces from the Korean Peninsula after a military stalemate.  This period closely matches the current Libra micro-age and overthrow.

China was also a major focus within the next Libra micro-age and overflow (Apr 1627 – May 1642 – Apr 1657). In 1627 the Manchus took advantage of Korea’s war-weakened state due to the unsuccessful Japanese invasion in the previous Libra period and invaded in 1627 and 1637, and this was even before the Manchus had taken over China.    In 1641 a massive epidemic struck in northern and central China with some local areas and towns having 90% of the local populace wiped out, which may have contributed to the fall of the Ming Dynasty just three years later. In 1644 the invading Qing army captured Beijing marking the beginning of Manchu rule over China proper.  The Ming dynasty had ruled over China from 1368 to 1644 while the Qing dynasty survived until 1912 (also in a Libra period).  This major and highly significant political development in China supports a close connection between Libra and China. Libra is associated with major events in China.

China’s affinity to Libra was again on display in the Libra micro-age and overflow (Jun 1791 – Apr 1806 – Mar 1821) when in 1793, the isolationist Chinese government rebuffed an attempt by the British to sell their manufactured goods to China and install a British ambassador in the Chinese court.  In 1796 the White Lotus Society, whose core belief is that a future Buddha will usher in an era of peace and plenty, commenced revolutionary activity against the oppressive Chinese government. The White Lotus Society also appropriately worshipped their Unborn Venerable Mother at the beginning of the Cancer sub-age decan and overflow (1791 – 1851 – 1910).  This same movement was behind the rise of the Ming dynasty liberating China from its Mongolian rulers in 1387.  Their first revolution in the 1330s was unsuccessful,[6] but this did occur before the arrival of the Age of Aquarius.  However, it did take place in a Libra micro-age and overflow (1314 – 1329 – 1344) within the Pisces sub-age (1254 – 1433) in its Cancer sub-age decan (1314 – 1373).  Their success in 1387 was in the Cancer sub-age overflow (1373 – 1433) which supports the notion that while Libra is associated with China, its Cancer connection is stronger.

Finally in the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 1910 – Nov 1915 – Oct 1920) commenced with the formation of the Republic of China in 1912 after a revolution that overthrew the Qing dynasty, ending 5,000 years of monarchy in China and 267 years of the Manchu dynasty.

Obviously Libra is a sign of ferment for China and suggests that major calamities are often on its doorstep and often indicate dynastic/regime change.  If Cancer is the primary sign for China, Libra activated the lowly 4th house and detracts from its 10th house of government and authority.  If the approaching conflict deeply involves China, it does not portend a favorable result for China, unless a possible regime change turns out to be favorable?

The current Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2059) is not favorable to China (especially in the second half) as Gemini sits at the 12th house position to China’s Cancer and more importantly in opposition to Sagittarius – a sign strongly associated with China.  However, within this Gemini age-decan is the Cancer micro-age and overflow (2000 – 2014 – 2019) and we have seen China’s rise to the second strongest superpower in the world under this micro-age and overflow.  This rise is so potent, many pundits have claimed that China will become the number one superpower soon.  However, there are only a few more years of the Cancer micro-age overflow concluding in November 2029 with a waning influence over China for the following 10 years as it confronts the opposing Capricorn micro-age decan and overflow (Nov 2029 – Oct 2034 – Oct 2039).  This will not be a fortuitous period for many parts of the world, and specifically Cancer-orientated regions such as China, Russia, the Middle East and Islamic countries.

USA

What is the astrological environment for the USA in the approaching possible major conflict?  The American Civil War demonstrated that the USA was and remains like conjoined twins, who can never get away from each other and often detest each other.  This is again the reality in the USA when the rural voters throughout the USA voted for Trump, while urban areas voted Democrat.  The end of 2021 is equivalent to 1858 – only three years before the beginning of the American Civil War.  Does this mean that the USA is heading for another civil war?

Table 3

A very good argument can be made that the USA is heading towards a period of even greater internal conflict than has been experienced over the last five years, but the world is no longer in the Pisces sub-age decan (highlighted in yellow in Table 3) as was the case with the Civil War.  Pisces at strength is probably needed for the USA to tear itself apart – though the USA’s second sign on its totem pole, Aquarius, also has a love-hate relationship with the USA.  In place of Pisces, the world is currently under the influence of the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088) but Gemini is not part of the astrological signature for the USA.  However, the American Civil War did occur in the Gemini micro-age, or to be technically exact, the Cancer-Gemini micro-age (1851 – 66), as it is also this decade.

The American Civil War occurred at the highpoint of the Cancer sub-age decan and overflow (1791 – 1851 – 1910) and Cancer is opposite Capricorn, the third strongest sign in the USA’s astrological signature. When those settlers stepped ashore in Jamestown in 1607, they did so near the very end of the first sub-age in the Age of Aquarius – the Capricorn sub-age (1433 – 1612) and also within the last micro-age in the Capricorn sub-age, the Capricorn micro-age (1597 – 1612) so Capricorn became a key sign for the future USA. The current Cancer micro-age and overflow (2000 – 2014 – 2029) will also provoke tensions in the USA but compared to the 18th century, this Cancer influence is very mild compared to the 19th century.

With Pisces the strongest sign for the USA, and Cancer opposed to Capricorn, the third strongest sign in the astrological signature, the current Gemini SAD&OF is not of the same league.  However, Gemini is probably detrimental to the USA on the world stage, as Gemini sits at the lowly 4th house position to Pisces which detracts from its 10th house authority, and shifts the focus to domestic over international issues – which was played out by Trump through avoiding new foreign wars or conflicts, and extracting US troops from ongoing international conflicts whenever possible.  President Biden has continued this trend with the withdrawal of American military from Afghanistan in 2021.  The USA is most likely heading towards some form of isolationism for most of the rest of the 21st century due to the Gemini sub-age decan overflow (2029 – 2088) except where commercial interests are concerned.

Apart from Gemini and Cancer, the other common sign between the American Civil War and the current Libra MAD&OF is that they both occur within the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2149) and Scorpio indicates that the world currently does not exist in a time of stability, but a time of wrenching change, transformation and evolution.  Life is not meant to be stable and peaceful under Scorpio.  Scorpio is the sign of our times.

We can certainly expect a period of greater lack of social and political cohesion in the USA, especially in the Libra MAD&OF (Nov 24 – Nov 29) with the situation deteriorating beforehand, but it should be nowhere near the level of stress that existed in the buildup and execution of the American Civil War.  If the major problem the USA is faced with is not civil war or vigorous internal dissent, how will it handle a possible major external conflict?

It cannot be overstressed that the USA is the age-empire of our time, and once an age-empire gets established, they don’t like to be kicked around, and they tend to have longevity – at least for the first half of the age, which means the USA should retain its international position until at least the midway point of the Age of Aquarius around 2507 AD.  In contrast, China has a far more resilient history for cultural longevity, but not for its ruling dynasties or regime who come and go regularly (similar to the lunation cycle).  If China is the main protagonist in any approaching international military polarization, it will continue to exist afterward, but it may be politically restructured – as has been the case for the previous thousands of years.

The Libra age-decan and overflow (1433 – 2149 – 2865) does not suggest the eradication of opponents, as Libra is the sign of balance.  For most of the current millennia, a major polarization in the world is indicated, and this polarization will strengthen over the coming centuries.  This is in strong contrast to the last two ages at least.  This strongly suggests that China, for better or worse, will remain as the yin balance to American yang for most of this Millennium.  Therefore any approaching conflict may represent one of a number of international adjustments of this very long-term geopolitical situation?

Extent of the Conflict

Finally, what icould be the nature of the coming conflict? Each Libra period appears to outstrip the previous one in ferocity, and so if this is literally taken to be the case in the coming conflagration, the use of atomic weapons cannot be ignored as nations have historically used every means of weaponry available to defeat their enemies.  This is reinforced by the fact that the world remains in the most potent quarter (1970 – 2059) of the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2148).  The risk level for atomic weapons remains very high until 2059 at least.  Another viable possibility is that in place of open warfare, the world descends to all-out cyber warfare, as Scorpio is a key driver for the internet (along with Gemini).

If you examine Table 4, the strongest zodiacal signs are when the Overflow and Quasi periods are of the same sign.  This only applies to the sub-age and age and confirms the volatility of Scorpio and atomic weapons or cyberwar.  The Pisces age overflow and Pisces quasi-age provide the base environment for this situation and the major influence in the world until around 2507.  This therefore promotes the possible precipitation for conflict could be the South China Sea as the oceans and islands are ruled by Pisces.  It must be remembered that under the sign Aquarius, society and nations are more prone and likely to adopt extreme policies far outside the realm of normality – and this extremism leads to disruption as the first half of the 20th century so adequately demonstrated.

Table 4

For the rest of the world, a bunch of islands and reefs recently occupied and claimed by China in the South China Sea may seem a ridiculous precipitation for an international conflict but not according to Daniel Yergin, author of The New Map:

China’s efforts to assert sovereignty in the South China Sea is perhaps the most volatile foreign policy issue in the world today.  Through its waters pass $US3.5 trillion of world trade — two-thirds of China’s maritime trade, and over 40 percent of Japan’s and 30 percent of total world trade. Eighty percent of China’s oil imports pass through it. Its waters are crucial for food security. It provides much of the seafood consumed both in China, the world’s largest consumer of fish, and Southeast Asia.

Those waters are also fraught with risk. ‘A single irresponsible action or instigation of conflict,’ warned Vietnam’s prime minister, ‘could well lead to the interruption of these huge trade flows, with unforeseeable consequences not only to regional economies but also to the entire world.’

Even while writing this blog, the USA, UK and Australia announced in September 2021 a major new military project Aukus to build a number of nuclear submarines in Australia. This is obviously aimed at China due to the perceived recent strategic advancement of China in the Pacific and Indian oceans indicating that the heat is rising and the international balance of power is being stressed. China is also currently overflying its military aircraft into Taiwan’s air space which is a classic example of sabre-rattling.

China’s main sign is Cancer, the sign of perimeters and thus borders, and China does not have a history of military engagements with countries not on its borders – unlike the Europeans and their offspring’s who historically have marauded everywhere possible.  But the South China Sea is on China’s borders, as is Taiwan, Tibet, Korea, Nepal and India and a number of other countries.  Any coming conflict with China is bound to be on its ‘edges’.

Of course, there is no guarantee that any major conflict is identical to what I have indicated above.  This is where expertise in mundane astrology with the outer planetary cycles providing some fine-tuning would be a positive addition to my arsenal of techniques, but my 30 years and more of research into the astrological ages has prevented me from learning traditional mundane astrology to any proficiency.

Despite the unknowns of the precipitation and source of any new major conflict, the astrological reality of a major conflict is very strong, with finer details more speculative.  Will it be considered a Third World War?  Even in this worst-case scenario, it does not have the astrological background to compete with the two world wars of the 20th century.  The astrology of the first half of the 20th century was a cauldron of extremely potent astrological forces.  The key element was the Pisces sub-age decan and overflow (1851 – 1910 – 1970) with the most potent quarter 1910 – 1940 and this level of Pisces will not be experienced in the world for around another 25,000 years.  Secondly, the Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 1925 – 1940) was three times stronger and more powerful than our current ‘mini’ Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) which nevertheless was still capable of bringing the world to its symbolic knees with Coronavirus.  The world has got off relatively easily with COVID-19 as the previous and next Aquarius periods are far stronger in their disruption compared to the current one.

The next international turmoil that could rival the Pisces sub-age decan and overflow (1851 – 1910 – 1970) is the Aquarius sub-age decan and overflow (2029 – 2088 – 2149) especially in its third-quarter from 2088 to 2118 as this coming substantial Aquarius period resonates with the emergent Age of Aquarius.  The coming Aquarius period towards the end of this century is so potent that it is probable that the likes of Trump’s supporters that stormed the US Congress in early 2021 are likely to succeed and actually overthrow the government of the USA – perhaps only temporarily – perhaps charting a new autocratic direction for the USA?  Even age-empires quake at age-decan cusps.  In Ancient Egypt these age-decan cusps were basically aligned to the cusps of the Old, Middle and Late Kingdoms, and in Ancient Rome, the Roman Republic fell and was replaced by the Roman Empire ruled by dictatorial Caesars.  Age-decan cusps are strongly related to regime change. The world is not facing these types of scenarios in the coming decade but the end of this century is another story!

If the world avoids a major international conflict in the coming decade, I will personally be very pleased but we cannot expect that rationality will succeed over nationalism and patriotism which will probably remain the underlying political impetus in the world until at least the midpoint of the Age of Aquarius around 2503.  Until that time, the influence of Pisces remains stronger than Aquarius, even though the Age of Aquarius arrived in the 15th century.  Humans evolve very slowly, and from a grand narrative, we are still only stepping out of caves, but with atomic weapons instead of spears.  People a thousand years in the future will cringe at our backwardness – provided our backwardness does not wipe out humanity in the intervening period.  It is extremely unlikely we will have a world devoid of wars and violence without an effective international government – and even then, further international civil wars could still occur if science fiction movies have any credibility?

The astrology indicates that the next big thing should be war or some alternative style of major conflict – above and beyond what the world has experienced since the end of the Second World War, and I have provided some speculative scenarios of the combatants and details which may or may not be correct.  We cannot expect astrology to provide a high-definition video with stereoscopic audio of the future as its track record does not support this.  Much fanfare was made of the predictions of the COVID-19 pandemic by the French astrologer, the late Andre Barbault, but even in his predictions, he could not be definitive and he certainly did not get the finer details correct. However, merely defining the outline of the next big thing is an achievement in itself if it comes to pass!

However, there is another possibility that could occur in place of a major war – or in addition to a major war. The necessary international alliance required to tackle Climate Change is also more likely to take shape under the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024 – Nov 2029) with the second half (Nov 2024 – Nov 2029) the more likely timeframe. This may deteriorate into a bipolar approach to Climate Change with two intractable opposing sides, or it could be a success as Libra can bring peace or accord in a time of disagreement. A major conflict in parallel to a Climate Change accord is also a possibility.

There is one more hurdle between the world in 2021 and the approaching Libra highpoint around November 2024 and that is the replacement of the Cancer quasi micro-age (Jul 2007 – Jun 2022) with the Gemini quasi micro-age (Jun 2022 – Jan 2037) in June 2022. It must be remembered that the sub-prime mortgage crisis struck after the arrival of the Cancer quasi micro-age in July 2007. In another examples, the Soviet Union collapsed at the beginning of the Leo quasi micro-age (June 1991 – Jul 2007) under the influence of the Aquarius nano-age and overflow (Jun 1991 – Sep 1992 – Dec 1993). Apartheid in South Africa also collasped indicating the relevance of these quasi periods.

A quasi micro-age cusp is really a gear change, and the approaching cusp in June 2022 indicates a change down in gear for Cancer and a rise in gear for Gemini making their respective influences about equal. Furthermore, the first nano-age overflow in the approaching Gemini quasi micro-age is the Sagittarius nano-age overflow (Jun 2022 – Aug 2023) and it is always the case that each quasi period commences with a sub-period of the opposite sign introducing greater tension than normal. The Sagittarius nano-age and overflow (Mar 2021 – Jun 2022 – Aug 2028) will be a time of high stress for Gemini and could highlight issues associated with the internet, cities, commuter transportation, students and fragmentation.

Perhaps Greta Thunberg significantly increases her influence amongst students? Maybe the European Union struggles to retain all of its existing members? Does an internet crash or incident become a major liability in some way? Cities may start to flex their influence at Climate Change talks? Or the extraction of vehicles from fossil fuels accelerate? China comes off the boil and starts showing early signs of political fracture? My first choice is the internet. Unfortunately the track record of the human race is that governments will use any newly developed or created technology for war – and so we may expereince some kind of militarization of the internet.

Despite a war or major conflict prediction, Libra is not focused solely on conflict.  There is always a focus upon females, both positive and negative, and we have already seen this with the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan severely curtailing the freedom of women and Texas’ almost suppression of abortion.  Despite these dark forces that remain so prevalent in the world, previous Libra periods strongly suggest that it is still a forward march for female rights – especially under Libra sitting so strongly in the Age of Aquarius for almost the next thousand years.  Another major area is art and artists – and we should see a focus and movement in that field as well.  Art auction prices have recently increased.  These and other areas such as justice associated with Libra such as Black Lives Matter will be explored in later posts.  It’s early days yet for Libra!

Interesting facts

9/11 in 2001 occurred in the Leo micro-age decan overflow (Feb 2000 – Jan 2005) including the invasion of Afghanistan in retaliation.  The withdrawal of US and allied troops in 2021 followed by the Taliban takeover occurred in the Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) with Leo and Aquarius opposite signs in the zodiac.  Aquarius will undermine Leo.

9/11 took place around 19 months inside of the Gemini quasi sub-age decan (Feb 2000 – 2059) and this Gemini quasi sub-age decan is constructed from the Gemini sub-age and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088) with the quasi sub-age representing the more potent middle half of the sub-age and overflow.  The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 occurred four months inside the Scorpio quasi sub-age decan (Aug 1940 – Feb 2000).  In both cases, the USA was caught with its pants down as subsequent inquiries discovered they had enough intelligence to know what was coming, but failed to have the clarity to act upon the evidence. A Pisces age empire such as the USA will often lack (Virgo) qualities such as clarity.

The Pearl Harbor attack also occurred in the Scorpio nano-age (Aug 1940 – Nov 1941) while 9/11 occurred in a Gemini nano-age overflow (May 2001 – Aug 2002).  In both attacks, not only were they near the very beginning of a quasi sub-age, but the nano-age in effect was of the exact same sign as the quasi sub-ages.  The Scorpio nano-age at the beginning of the Scorpio quasi sub-age decan relates to Japan as Japan’s main sign is Scorpio, and Scorpio also rules surprise attacks.  A similar Gemini connection to 9/11 has Gemini, the sign of the twins which involved the Twin Towers, and Gemini is traditionally the sign for Iraq and adjoining countries, as Iraq’s antecedents go back to Mesopotamia, the Gemini age empire – the very first age-empire tin the world.

Will the USA suffer a similar fate near the beginning of the next quasi sub-age – specifically the Aquarius quasi sub-age decan commencing 2059?  With the USA’s primary sign Pisces, it cannot be expected to get the (Virgo) details correct.  The first nano-age in the Aquarius quasi sub-age decan is an Aquarius nano-age and overflow, and if it follows form, there should be a strong Aquarian element in any future attack.  It could also be an internal attack by extremists.

Libra micro-age decan & overflow (Sep 1746 – Sep 1751 – Aug 1756)

Within the Aquarius micro-age (Sep 1746 – Aug 1761) sits the Libra MAD&OF (Sep 1746 – Sep 1751 – Aug 1756) mimicking the similar Libra period coinciding with the First World War and Spanish Flu.  This Libra period is associated with the might of the Sagittarius quasi sub-age (1701 – 1880) sitting in the middle of the full Sagittarius sub-age and overflow (1612 – 1791 – 1970). This Sagittarius sub-age and overflow can be attributed with the modern economic miracle that has created the world today.

War & Conflict

War also makes its mark with the beginning of the Seven Years’ War (1756 – 1763) at the very end of this Libra period.  Such was the magnitude of the Seven Years’ War that some historians call it World War Zero as many considered it a world war[1] harking back to the Nine Years’ War (1688–1697) of the previous Libra period that was considered the first global war.  This strongly insinuates a diachronic relationship between major wars and these Libra periods and therefore should be of concern to us in the early 21st century with the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024 – Nov 2029).

The result of the Seven Years’ War propelled Great Britain into its superpower status, and curtailed the influence of France and Spain.  The Seven Years’ War in the North American theater was called the French and Indian War (1754 – 1763).  The UK obviously benefitted immensely from the Sagittarius quasi sub-age (1701 – 1880) suggesting this sign belongs in the UK’s astrological signature.

Under Pitt’s leadership, Britain’s position as the leading colonial power was confirmed by the Seven Years’ War.

Libra’s association with peace, despite its promotion of conflict, is clearly demonstrated in 1749 when at a ceremony in San Antonio, Texas (then a part of the New Spain province of Nuevo Santander), four Apache chiefs and Spanish colonial officials and missionaries literally buried the hatchet by placing weapons of war into a pit and covering it as a symbol that the Apaches and the Spaniards will fight no further war against each other![2]

Females

Another possible first for women was that of Hannah Snell (1723 – 1792), a British woman who disguised herself as a man and became a soldier.  After giving birth to a daughter (who lived only one year), Hannah borrowed a man’s suit and name, and began to search for her errant husband, who had abandoned her, only to learn that her husband had been executed. In 1745. She joined the army of the Duke of Cumberland against Bonnie Prince Charlie but deserted when her sergeant gave her 500 lashes and so she moved to Portsmouth and joined the Marines. In August 1748, her unit was sent to capture the French colony of Pondicherry in India. Later, she also fought in the battle in Devicottail in 1749 where she was wounded in the legs eleven times.  She was also shot in her groin and, to avoid revealing her sex, she instructed a local woman to take out the bullet instead of being tended by the regimental surgeon.  In 1750, her unit returned to Britain and traveled from Portsmouth to London, where she revealed her sex to her shipmates. She petitioned the Duke of Cumberland, the head of the army, for her pension – which was granted.[3]  In 1750 in London, Hanna Snell was on stage performing military drills in uniform playing in The Female Soldier.  Hannah Snell may have provided some inspiration to Sir Terry Pratchett’s novel Monstrous Regiment?

Libra’s rulership over marriage was also on display with the Marriage Act 1753, full title “An Act for the Better Preventing of Clandestine Marriage”, which was the first statutory legislation in England and Wales to require a formal ceremony of marriage. Previously, the only indispensable requirement was that the marriage be celebrated by an Anglican clergyman.[4]

The first female medical doctor in Germany graduated in 1754 at the age of 39 and approved by the king after she was declared a quack for her work with the poor before she was able to return to her formal medical studies.[5]  In 1748 Eva Ekeblad became the first female member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences – but only as an honorary member.  She was widely known for discovering a method in 1746 to make alcohol and flour from potatoes, allowing greater use of scarce grains for food production, significantly reducing Sweden’s incidence of famine.[6]

The Arts

Noticeable artistic developments also appeared in this Libra period. The Libra period saw the final years of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 – 1750) who was a German composer and musician of the Baroque period and since the 19th-century, he has been generally regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time.  Two large-scale compositions occupied a central place in Bach’s last years. From around 1742 he wrote and revised The Art of Fugue, which has been described as:

“Bach’s most universal church work. Consisting mainly of recycled movements from cantatas written over a thirty-five-year period, it allowed Bach to survey his vocal pieces one last time and pick select movements for further revision and refinement.”

Although the complete mass was never performed during the composer’s lifetime, it is considered to be among the greatest choral works in history[7] – a fitting achievement under this Libra period with the help of Sagittarius!

Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712 – 1778) was a Genevan philosopher, writer, and composer and his political philosophy influenced the progress of the Enlightenment throughout Europe, as well as aspects of the French Revolution and the development of modern political, economic and educational thought. His Discourse on Inequality and The Social Contract published in this Libra period are cornerstones in modern political and social thought. In Discourse on Inequality (1755) Rousseau explained how people may have established civil society, and this led him to conclude that private property is the original source and basis of all inequality.

“The first person who, having enclosed a plot of land, took it into his head to say this is mine and found people simple enough to believe him, was the true founder of civil society”

The Social Contract (1762) is a book in which Rousseau theorized about the best way to establish a political community in the face of the problems of commercial society, which he had already identified in his Discourse on Inequality. The Social Contract helped inspire political reforms or revolutions in Europe, especially in France as it argued against the idea that monarchs were divinely empowered to legislate. Rousseau asserts that only the people, who are sovereign, have that all-powerful right.[8]

Charles Batteux’s The Fine Arts Reduced to a Single Principle was published in Paris in 1746, putting forward for the first time the idea of “les beaux arts” (the fine arts). The 1749 publication of The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling, often known simply as Tom Jones, is a comic novel by Henry Fielding. It is among the earliest English works to be classified as a novel and is the earliest novel mentioned by W. Somerset Maugham in his 1948 book Great Novelists and Their Novels among the ten best novels of the world.[9]

In 1750, the Louvre Museum was created in Paris four years after public pressure on the King to allow the display of the royal art collection to the general public. An initial arrangement displayed 110 of the Crown’s paintings at the Palais du Luxembourg. This year also saw the first documented presentation of a musical in New York” at the Nassau Street Theatre, when a resident company of actors staged The Beggar’s Opera. In 1751, English poet Thomas Gray first published Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard claimed to be:

“probably still today the best-known and best-loved poem in English”.[10]

In 1752, the first performance of a Shakespearean play in America was performed when a company of players staged The Merchant of Venice in Williamsburg, Virginia.   In 1753, Spain’s Royal Academy of the Fine Arts was formally established, eight years after first being proposed to King Fernando VI. The foundation of the Royal Academy is considered by historians to be “an essential step in modernizing Spain” during the Spanish Enlightenment.

David Garrick (1717 – 1779) was an English actor, playwright, theatre manager and producer who influenced nearly all aspects of theatrical practice throughout the 18th century, and was a pupil and friend of Dr. Samuel Johnson. Very quickly after the arrival of this Libra period, Garrick partly took over the Drury Lane Theatre in April 1747 after some years of decline, leading to great success and accolades. The first performance opened with an Ode to Drury Lane Theatre, read by Garrick and written by his friend, Dr Johnson. The ode promised the patrons that

“The drama’s law the drama’s patrons give,

For we that live to please must please to live.”[11]

Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure—popularly known as Fanny Hill (possibly an Anglicization of the Latin mons veneris, mound of Venus)—is an erotic novel by English novelist John Cleland first published in London in 1748.  Its major departure from accepted morals of the times was that it was widely considered to be the first work to focus on the idea of sexual deviance being an act of pleasure, rather than something that was simply shameful.[12] Thus this book contributes to the multi-century liberation of women.

Casanova (1725 – 1798), the virtual living god of love, was in his heyday during this Libra period, as in 1755 he was imprisoned for his various and nefarious misdeeds according to the religious morals of those times.  He has become so famous for his often complicated and elaborate love affairs that his name is now synonymous with “womanizer”. No matter where he resided his police records usually involved a long list of reported blasphemies, seductions, fights, and public controversies.  He set off on a grand tour heading to Paris in 1750 and along the way he got into sexual escapades resembling operatic plots from one town to the next.  Casanova claimed to be a Rosicrucian and an alchemist, aptitudes which made him popular with some of the most prominent figures of the era, among them Madame de Pompadour, Count de Saint-Germain, d’Alembert, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau.  Due to Casanova’s exploits, the noun “Casanova” means “Lover; especially a man who is a promiscuous and unscrupulous lover”.   His autobiography, Story of My Life, written after this Libra period, is regarded as one of the most authentic sources of the customs and norms of European social life during the 18th century.[13]

Libra’s association with sugar is reinforced by the invention of extracting sugar from beets by a German chemist in 1747using alcohol and one of his students went on to devise an economical industrial method later in the century which created the sugar industry in Europe.[14]  Sugar sits on the dark side of Libra!

The minuet was a new style of elegant dance that dominated European ballrooms from around 1650 for about a century and has been called “the age of the minuet”.  It was a precursor to the waltz. At the great balls of the French court at Versailles, the minuet was the high point of the festivities, which culminated in a suite of dances.  It is highly synchronous that this new dance craze came into vogue in the middle of this small Libra period, and Libra seems to have provided the timing for what otherwise is usually associated with Pisces.

The Royal Society of the Arts was established in England in 1754 but until it received its Royal Charter in 1908, was called Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce.  This is the first known organization to use the word “sustainability” in the environmental sense (in 1980). By 1754, a notable change in style was noted in France with the first appearance of the boudoir – a room dedicated to women.  Also, interior design moved from the (Capricorn) formal and stately to the elegant with gardens becoming naturalistic and furniture more comfortable and light.[15]

America

In 1754 Benjamin Franklin called for the “voluntary” union of the 13 British colonies in North America supported by the British governments in an attempt to solve the Indian problem.  Though the union was primarily oriented towards the American Indians, those Indians present were left dissatisfied as their interests were being undermined.[16]

Conclusion

Such was the magnitude of the Seven Years’ War (1756 – 1763) it was called World War Zero as it was noted to have similarities to the Nine Years’ War (1688–1697) of the previous Libra period that was considered the first global war.  Major war or conflict should be expected in Libra micro-ages and micro-age decans by default! The Seven Years’ War was based on a major realignment of European alliances which shifted the European balance of power and ticking the Libra box. There was no particular famous female from this period, but Hanna Snell fills the void with her disguise as a male soldier.  The first statutory regulation of marriage in England and Wales is also a salute to Libra and the first female doctor in Germany indicates Libra was not asleep.  It should be noted that this is the final Libra backbone in the weakest quarter (1433 – 1791) of the full Libra age-decan (1433 – 2149) and overflow (2149 – 2865) and so we should not expect an overwhelming influence of Libra at this first o0f four stages of the Libra age-decan and overflow.

The arts however was on a roll with the final years of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 – 1750) considered one of the greatest composers of all time, Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712 – 1778) with his The Social Contract and Discourse on Inequality, and Charles Batteux’s promotion of the fine arts.  The age of the minuet promoting elegant dancing and ultimately leading to the Waltz is also appropriate for Libra.  Tom Jones by Henry Fielding possibly produced the earliest of the great English novelists.  The opening of the Louvre Museum in Paris, the first musical in New York and first Shakespearean play in America, possibly the best known poem in England and Spain’s Royal Academy of the Fine Arts and the success of the Drury Lane Theatre in London are witnesses to the strength of Libra at this point of time. The Royal Society of the Arts was established in England.

The erotic Fanny Hill contributed to the multi-century liberation of women and the alignment of Casanova in peak form, the virtual living god of love, indicates Libra’s presence and also provided valuable historical information about European social life of the time.  Libra’s addiction to sugar is again evident with the invention of extracting sugar from beets. A call for the “voluntary” union of the 13 British colonies in North America by Benjamin Franklin was a foretaste of what was to come!

Libra micro-age decan & overflow (January 1692 – December 1701)

The Gemini micro-age (Jan 1687 – Dec 1701) contains a Libra MAD&OF (Jan 1692 – Jan 1697 – Dec 1701) and mimics to a certain extent the early 21st-century configuration – the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2029). The major influence of the late 17th century was the Leo sub-age decan overflow (1672 – 1731) which appropriately restored the English monarchy and all the opulent embellishments made taboo during the grim years of Cromwell’s Puritans. This period called The Restoration commenced prior to this Libra period in 1660 when the pendulum of English morality swung from repression to license more or less overnight.  This small Libra period was therefore rejoicing in its newly returned frivolity of all types.

The First Global War

Once again, a major conflict was in place though it had already commenced prior to this Libra period, but it was mostly within the Libra period that the fiercest fighting occurred in 1692-3.  The Nine Years’ War (1688–1697) was a conflict between France and an opposing European coalition which included England, Spain and Portugal with theatres also in North America and India. Its importance in association with this Libra period is that this war is not only considered to be the first global war – but also is considered a precursor to the two world wars of the 20th century.

The Nine Years’ War encompassed Ireland and Jacobite risings in Scotland (with some later elements of the Jacobite risings partly portrayed in the TV series Outlander), and North America between French and English settlers and their respective Indigenous allies.  England was once again threatened by invasion, this time by the new European bully – France (which had replaced Spain as the key European power to be reckoned with, but this imminent invasion was thwarted by the destruction of the French navy in 1692.  The last year of this Libra period saw the beginning of the War of the Spanish Succession (1701–1714) due to unresolved issues of the Nine Years’ War with a focus on maintaining the (Libra) balance of power between different European countries.[1]

Politics

In 1693, William Penn’s (the founder of Pennsylvania) growing concern about the devastation of perennial (Aries) war in Europe resulted in his observation that a “European dyet, or parliament”,[2] was necessary to prevent further war, without going into details.  This is why the Libra world that is coming our way will probably include an international government as even in 1693, people recognized that without an overarching government, such as maintained in the heyday of Ancient Rome, the Mongol Empire and so on, peace is otherwise difficult if not impossible. Genghis Khan is believed to have boasted that a virgin carrying a bag of gold could traverse his empire by foot without fear. Those regions such as Ancient Greece that never unified were always at war with each other.  Indian and Chinese states were regularly at war with each other except when united under one ruler.

In 1692 the Chinese emperor issued the Edict of Toleration of Christianity followed in 1698 with a similar statement of Islam stating:

“Even if you pacify the Hui people and then impede their religious practice, would it be possible to convert them to Buddhism, and have them bow and pray before the lamas? Now that the empire is at peace, make things run the way they are. Forcing them to assimilate is definitely not practical.”[3]

USA & Australia

This period saw the first known publication of an anti-slavery text in the future USA by Samuel Sewall in 1700.  In The Selling of Joseph (1700), he came out strongly against slavery, making him one of the earliest colonial abolitionists.  Sewell argued, “Liberty is in real value next unto Life: None ought to part with it themselves, or deprive others of it, but upon the most mature Consideration.”[4]  The first permanent European settlement of Louisiana occurred in 1699 (now in Mississippi) but the first European explorers had arrived in 1528 in a previous Libra period – the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (December 1527 – November 1537).

Some major discoveries of Australia’s western coastline during this Libra period was made by William Dampier (c.1651 – 1715).  In 1699 Dampier voyaged to New Holland (Australia) and though he was commissioned to explore the east coast, he actually arrived on the west coast (Western Australia) and then travel north, ending up in Timor and also explored the north coast of New Guinea.  His navigational prowess aided later voyages by James Cook and Horatio Nelson and his notes of the flora and fauna was read by Joseph Banks who later became the naturalists on some of Cook’s voyages.  Dampier’s’ voyages influenced a number of novels including Robinson Crusoe, Gulliver’s Travels and The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and he believed to be the first to write in English the words “barbecue”, “avocado”, “chopsticks” and “sub-species” plus first recorded the recipes for guacamole and mango chutney.[5]

Females & Witches

With Libra’s female focus, the Salem, Massachusetts witch trials (1692 – 1693) accused more than 200 people of witchcraft with 30 found guilty, 19 were executed by hanging (14 women and five men). One other man was pressed to death for refusing to plead, and at least five people died in jail. It was the deadliest witch hunt in the history of colonial North America. Only fourteen other women and two men had been executed in Massachusetts and Connecticut during the 17th century.  The after effects of these trials at least produced the pertinent insight that:

“it were better that one hundred Witches should live, than that one person be put to death for a witch, which is not a Witch” [6]

This shattered the ideal of theocracy in North America based on governments supposedly having God at its head – similar to the aims of ISIS (ISIL) in the early 21st century. Samuel Sewall was one of the judges of the Salem witch trials but later retracted his position and publicly acknowledged his guilt and expressed contrition for condemning the witches on trial.

The Scottish Paisley witches were tried in 1697 after the young daughter of the Laird of Bargarran, complained of being tormented by some local witches – which included one of her family’s servants, whom she had reported after witnessing her steal a drink of milk.  Seven people were found guilty of having bewitched Shaw and were condemned to death – the last mass execution for witchcraft in Western Europe.  Shortly afterwards the former Scottish Secretary of State stated that:

“the parliaments of France and other judicatories who are persuaded of the being of witches never try them now because of the experience they have had that it’s impossible to distinguish possession from nature in disorder”.[7]

These witchcraft trials represent the ending phase of the persecution of mainly (Libra) females as witches, and any Libra period will promote positive or negative events associated with women.

The Arts

The Relapse, (also known as Virtue in Danger) was a Restoration comedy from 1696. This play is a sequel to Colley Cibber’s Love’s Last Shift where a free-living Restoration rake is brought to repentance and reform by the ruses of his wife, while in The Relapse, the rake succumbs again to temptation and has a new love affair while his virtuous wife is also subjected to a determined seduction attempt, and resists with difficulty. In the 18th century, the prevailing tolerant attitude towards actual and attempted adultery gradually became unacceptable, and the original play was for a century replaced on the stage by a moralized version A Trip to Scarborough. On the modern stage, The Relapse has been established as one of the most popular Restoration comedies.  The Libra connection is obvious.

William Congreve’s comedy The Way of the World was first performed in London in 1700.  It is widely regarded as one of the best Restoration comedies, initially however, the play struck many audience members as continuing the immorality of the previous decades, and was not well received. In 1700, the world of London theatre-going had changed significantly because Charles II jubilant court, that had reveled in its licentiousness and opulence, had been replaced by the far more dour and utilitarian Dutch-inspired court of William of Orange –  a military king who was reported to be hostile to drama.

One of the features of a Restoration comedy is the (Libra) opposition of the witty and courtly (and Cavalier) rake and the dull-witted man of business or the country bumpkin, who is understood to be not only unsophisticated but often either Puritan or another form of dissenter. In 1685, the courtly and Cavalier side was in power, and Restoration comedies belittled the bland and foolish losers of the Restoration. However, by 1700, the other side was ascendant.

The Way of the World’s recreation of the older Restoration comedy’s patterns is only one of the things that made the play unusual.  The 1688 revolution concerning the overthrow of James II created a new set of social codes primarily amongst the bourgeoisie – their rise can be attributed to the newly arrived Sagittarius sub-age (1612 – 1791) bringing wealth and a growing middle class. The new capitalist system meant an increasing emphasis on property and property law. Thus, the play is packed with (Libra) legal jargon and financial and (Libra) marital contracts. These new (Libra) legal aspects allowed some female characters to secure their freedom through an equitable trust and for equality in marriage through a prenuptial agreement.[8]

Also appropriately for this Libra period, The Fairy-Queen was first produced in 1692 by Henry Purcell (1659 – 1695), a semi-opera and a “Restoration spectacular”. The libretto is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Purcell works were a uniquely English form of Baroque music and he is considered to be the greatest English composer up until the 20th century.  Five of his most notable seven works were composed during this Libra period.  Though not commonly known, his music has been widely applied in the 20th century. He composed an anthem and two elegies for Queen Mary II’s funeral which provided the title music of the 1971 film by Stanley Kubrick, A Clockwork Orange. Pete Townsend of The Who states that Purcell was an influence in their music including the introduction to Pinball Wizard as was the case with the Pet Shop Boys.  Purcell’s compositions also found their way into the movie Kramer vs. Kramer, the 2005 film version of Pride and Prejudice, and the German-language 2004 movie, Downfall to name a few. He died in 1695 during this Libra period at the height of his fame.[9]

Some eponymous female characters appeared in this Libra period when in 1697 the French writer Charles Perrault published Mother Goose tales, a collection of popular fairy tales, including Cinderella, Red Riding Hood and The Sleeping Beauty.  Libra’s aesthetic side was on display in 1693 when the first known form of eau de Cologne was created. In 1700, an inventory made for the Medici family of Florence contains the first documented evidence of a piano, invented by their instrument keeper Bartolomeo Cristofori.

Conclusion

The precursor of the two 20th century world wars but with France the protagonist against most other European powers indicates that Libra is not shy when it comes to major conflicts.  Such was the atmosphere of conflict that William Penn introduced the concept of a united Europe which had to wait until the arrival of the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2149) to see this dream manifest as a partial reality with the creation of the European Union.  On the other side of the world, China was turning towards religious toleration for its Muslim subjects and newly arrived Christians.  The earliest anti-slavery text in North America highlights a very early example of the precursor to the Black Lives Matter movement but the author was complicit at the infamous Salem witch trials again demonstrate the active persecution of mainly women and this same period saw the last mass execution for witchcraft in Western Europe following the Scottish Paisley witch trials.  The turning point for the persecution of witches seems to have occurred with this Libra period.  Australia also continued getting attention under Libra with much of the remaining uncharted coastline of north west of Australia mapped by William Dampier while in North America, Louisiana was first settled.

Marital comedies with relevant social issues were the rage with The Relapse and William Congreve’s comedy The Way of the World. The Fairy-Queen was first produced in 1692 and the first appearances of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Sleeping Beauty brought the world these very famous female characters.  The appearance of eau de Cologne and the first known piano cements this period to archetypes belonging to Libra.

Libra micro-age decan and overflow (August 1582 – July 1592)

This Libra MAD&OF sits within the Aquarius micro-age (Aug 1582 – Jul 1597) and therefore mimics the Libra MAD&OF (December 1910 – October 1920) associated with the First World War (1914/17 – 18) and Spanish flu.  The next major level up to greatly influence this period was the Taurus-Capricorn sub-age decan (1552 – 1612).  Taurus is beneficial to England (see The UK Astrological Signature) which was certainly on display in this Libra period.

Again, major conflicts occur under Libra’s watch commencing with the Anglo-Spanish War (1585–1604) which included the famous Spanish Armada (1588) with 130 ships and 30,000 men when Catholic Spain planned to invade Protestant England and dispose Queen Elizabeth 1 but failed miserably at the hands of what constituted the British navy and adverse weather.  The English countered with two armadas against Spain which both failed, and Spain sent a second armada against England which also failed due to bad weather.  This is where Sir Francis Drake became famous.  At this time Spain was the world’s superpower.  The victory was acclaimed by the English as their greatest since Agincourt, and the memory of the victory over the Armada was evoked during the Napoleonic Wars in a later Libra period when again England found itself threatened by another invasion. From the standpoint of Libra, Queen Elizabeth’s legend persisted and grew long after her death due to the successful repulsion of the Spanish Armadas.[1] Queen Elizabeth is one of the most notable females that stood near the beginning of the Libra age-decan (1433 – 2149).

George Gower’s Armada Portrait of Elizabeth I (1588?) at Woburn Abbey. The portrait was made to commemorate the defeat of the Spanish Armada (depicted in the background).

This Libra period sits within the Elizabethan era (1558 – 1603) and is taken as England’s golden age attributed a renaissance that inspired national pride through classical ideals, international expansion, and naval triumph over Spain[2] with the naval triumph over Spain exclusively associated with this Libra period.  This golden age commenced in the Taurus sub-age decan (1537 – 1612) and Taurus figures strongly in the English astrological signature.[3]

Again, war was highly prevalent as is the case for the last 5,000 years and only some major ones will be mentioned.  The War of the Three Henrys (1587-89) was one of a series of French civil wars under the umbrella of the French Wars of Religion (1562 – 98) The war was instigated by Spain to keep France from interfering with the Spanish army in the Netherlands and the Spanish invasion of England – there were so many wars that they had wars within wars!

The Eighty Years’ War commencing in 1568 (before this Libra period) was basically a Protestant revolt of what are today the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg against the superpower of Catholic Spain but by 1587 the newly formed Dutch Republic entered a period of more than two centuries of relative political stability and strongly increased its trade and wealth from this time onward, with Amsterdam replacing Antwerp as the main port of north-west Europe.  The republic was more tolerant of different religions and ideas than its contemporary states were, allowing freedom of thought to its residents. Artists flourished under this regime, including painters such as Rembrandt and Johannes Vermeer leading to the Dutch Golden Age lasting until 1672.[4]  Libra may have placed its stamp on the Dutch Golden Age but the influence of both the Capricorn sub-age (1433 – 1612) and Taurus sub-age decan overflow (1552 – 1612) suggests that these signs appear in the Dutch astrological signature?

In the Far East the first Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592 was really the beginning of a proxy war between Japan and China with Korea the stepping stone from Japan to China. The conflict ended in 1598 after Japan’s second unsuccessful invasion followed by the withdrawal of the Japanese forces from the Korean Peninsula after a military stalemate (appropriate for Libra).  This war resulted in an imbalance of power within Japan with the Toyotomi clan’s power significantly weakened due to the exhaustion of its  armed forces for the failed Korean conflict and the opposing Tokugawa clan, who had abstained from the war, and with their armed forces in tack, were able to eventually triumphed (post this Libra period) against the Toyotomi clan. Libra seems to prefer two major opposing forces. Libra is considered a key sign for the whole of the Far East including China.

Highly notable females again mark this Libra period and a good example is the classic feud between Queen Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots ending with the beheading of Mary, Queen of Scots in 1587 at the hands of her cousin Queen Elizabeth after Mary was implicated in a plot to murder Elizabeth.

With the growing strength of Capricorn the accusations of witchcraft against women grew to a crescendo in this period. From 1581 to 1593 the Witch Trials of Trier in Germany were perhaps the biggest witch trials in European history. They formed one of the four largest witch trials in Germany. The persecutions started around Trier in 1581 and reached the city itself in 1587, where it was to lead to the death of about 368 people, and it may have been the biggest mass execution in Europe in peace time.[5]

Not to be outdone by the Germans, in 1590, Agnes Sampson was questioned by King James VI of Scotland, and confessed to practicing witchcraft.  This was apparently part of the North Berwick witch trials of a number of people from East Lothian, Scotland which ran for two years and implicated over seventy people. The “witches” allegedly held their covens on the Auld Kirk Green, part of the modern-day North Berwick Harbour area. The confessions were extracted by torture.[6]

Prosecutions for the crime of witchcraft reached a highpoint commencing 1580 (in this Libra period) to 1630 during the Counter-Reformation and the European wars of religion when an estimated 50,000 people were burned at the stake, of which roughly 80% were women, and most often over the age of 40.  This 50 year period correlates to the peak strength of Capricorn associated with the end of the Capricorn sub-age in (1433 -1612) when Capricorn was peaking.  Stern autocratic male Capricorn historically orientated towards the subjugation of women – especially older intelligent women with knowledge and wisdom.

However, the Aquarian tide of rationalism started to gain traction with the publication in 1584 of The Discoverie of Witchcraft by Reginald Scot, which undermined the common belief that witches existed.  Scot expressed the view that “it is neither a witch, nor devil, but glorious God that maketh the thunder…God maketh the blustering tempests and whirlwinds…”.[7]

North America continued to be a focus under Libra and in 1583, Newfoundland was formally claimed as a colony of England but not successfully settled at this time.  Also very interesting in relation to the future USA, in 1584 Walter Raleigh sent an expedition to explore the Outer Banks of Virginia (now North Carolina), with a view to establishing an English colony, and they located Roanoke Island.[8]  In the following year, the first group of colonists was sent by Sir Walter Raleigh but only lasted until June 1586, but was followed by a second attempt in 1587.[9] The second attempt was futile, and by the time the British returned in 1590, the colonialists had disappeared and it became known as the Lost Colony.

Interestingly, Sir Walter Raleigh (1552/4 – 1618) was born in a Taurus-Taurus generation, and this may explain why Raleigh strongest focus in his life was in searching for El Dorado (City of Gold) and he made two expeditions to the Americas in search of this gold – and ultimately was executed for his over zealousness by attacking a Spanish outpost in his quest.[10]

Notable theatrical developments took place in this Libra period commencing in 1583 when the Queen Elizabeth’s Men troupe of actors was founded in England and became the dominant acting company for the rest of the 1580s. Queen Elizabeth’s Men was the first large company of actors in English Renaissance theatre, twice the size of its predecessors. The size of the new company enabled it to act a new kind of historical play, built on a larger scale than ever before including Shakespeare’s histories. These new plays were equivalent to “Hollywood spectaculars” of their era.[11]  In 1587 the Rose (theatre) was founded in London beginning a trend for theatres to be situated at arm’s length from the authorities in an area outside the jurisdiction of the City of London where bear/bull-baitings, gaming dens and brothels were surreptitiously operating.  It was the first purpose-built playhouse to ever stage a production of any of Shakespeare’s plays.  Christopher Marlowe became the theatre’s main playwright.  While the theatre thrived, at the very end of this Libra period, an outbreak of the Plague thwarted all theatres[12] (with no Libra available to support them).

Shakespeare, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world’s greatest dramatist.  Somewhere in this Libra period (probably the mid-1580s) Shakespeare was able to have his plays performed and by 1592, he was sufficiently known in London to be attacked by other playwrights such as Robert Greene in his Groats-Worth of Wit:

“… there is an upstart Crow, beautified with our feathers, that with his Tiger’s heart wrapped in a Player’s hide, supposes he is as well able to bombast out a blank verse as the best of you: and being an absolute Johannes factotum, is in his own conceit the only Shake-scene in a country.”

Shakespeare was accused of reaching above his ‘lowly’ rank in trying to match such university-educated writers as Christopher Marlowe, Thomas Nashe, and Greene himself (the so-called “University Wits”).[13]  The main sign that drove Shakespeare was from Pisces, and the rise of Shakespeare in this Libra period coincided with the Pisces sting-in-the-tail of the Pisces sub-age and overflow (1254 – 1433 – 1612) with the Pisces sting-in-the-tail the Pisces micro-age and overflow (1567 – 1582 – 1597) with this period arguably representing the peak of Pisces in the 26,000 years cycle of the astrological ages. Shakespeare was born in an Aries-Aries generation (second half of the Aries micro-age (1552 – 1567) indicating that he came from a generation with drive!

Christopher Marlowe was of the same Aries-Aries generation and was the leading Elizabethan playwright and strongly influenced Shakespeare who succeeded him following Marlowe’s untimely death at the age of 29 in 1593.

On the artistic front, El Greco (1541 – 1614) was a Greek painter, sculptor and architect of the Spanish Renaissance and he is regarded as a precursor of both Expressionism and Cubism and his works were considered as “strange”, “queer”, “original”, “eccentric” and “odd. However, much of his works were undertaken within the eccentric Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1582 – 1597 – 1612).  In 1586 he obtained the commission for The Burial of the Count of Orgaz, now his best-known work. Painters from the beginning of the 20th century rediscovered El Greco – his expressiveness and colors influenced Eugène Delacroix, Édouard Manet and Paul Cézanne[14] and one commentator stated that “Cézanne and El Greco are spiritual brothers despite the centuries which separate them”.[15]  It should be noted that Cubism appeared as an avant-garde artistic movement during the 1910s[16] associated with the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 1910 – Nov 1915 – Oct 1920).

The famous Italian painter Caravaggio (1571 – 1610) had a formative influence on Baroque painting and influenced the later works of Peter Paul Rubens, Jusepe de Ribera, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and Rembrandt.  His style fell out of favor until the 20th century but he was labeled “What begins in the work of Caravaggio is, quite simply, modern painting.”[17]  Caravaggio’s apprenticeship occurred in this Libra period and in the last year he left Milan and went to Rome as a destitute hack-work artist.  One of his earliest works in 1589 was Caravaggio’s Young Sick Bacchus, supposedly a self-portrait done during convalescence from a serious illness (with Capricorn overtones).  Caravaggio’s innovation was a radical naturalism that contrasted light and dark with little intermediate value.[18]  This “darkness” can be attributed to the strength of Capricorn with the Capricorn sub-age approaching its peak strength in 1612.

Finally, on the sweet side of Libra, the first known commercial importation of chocolate to Europe in 1585, from Mexico to Spain, but the Spanish adopted the addition of (Libra) sugar to sweeten chocolate, whereas the indigenous American had only mixed chocolate with spices – but it required an acquired taste.  The new Spanish sugar variety took off with a vengeance, and for some time, chocolate drinks were far more popular in Spain than coffee.[19] It was quickly followed by the publication of Chocolate: or, An Indian Drinke in 1631.

Again, we see with Libra some major conflicts – the Spanish Armada where England was nearly invaded and pirates like Sir Francis Drake became a national hero.  The conflict between the Dutch and Spain was resolved with creation of the Dutch Republic leading to more than two centuries of relative political stability called the Dutch Golden Age.  China was under threat from Japan with Japan invading Korea for the very first time, but failed to move on to the conquest of China. In North America, Newfoundland was formally claimed as a colony of England and some unsuccessful attempts were made to colonize Roanoke Island (North Carolina).  At a minimum, this is the beginning of the Libra connection to the USA.

The power play between two highly notable women – Queen Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots led to the execution of Mary while the other major female focus of the times was arguably the biggest mass execution of witches in Europe. By 1630 an estimated about 40,000 women had been burnt at the stake.  But the rationality of Aquarius did show signs of life with the argument against the existence of witchcraft by the publication of The Discoverie of Witchcraft.

Libra obviously promoted the theatre with the creation of Queen Elizabeth’s Men troupe of actors and the construction of the Rose theatre in a destitute part of London and by the end of this Libra period, Shakespeare was in full swing.  The other famous playwright of the times died only one year past the end of this Libra period making the Libra period the full extent of Marlowe’s theatrical output.  The father of modern painting also appeared with El Greco and Caravaggio was mainly in his apprentice period but commence producing artwork before this Libra period ended.  Sugar and chocolate naturally are attracted to Libra with its first commercial importation to Europe.

Libra-associated events will occur at any time in history, and for example, in every 15 years micro-age, there is a 29 to 30 month Libra nano-age and overflow.  However, again with this Libra MAD&OF (1582 – 1592), highly notable and remarkable historical events that can be associated with a Libra archetype indicate a stronger presence of Libra than is normal.  The brightness of Libra was not quenched by the dark side of the Capricorn sub-age and overflow (1433 – 1612 – 1791).

The Backbone of the Libra Age-Decan (1433 – 2149)

Why the sudden interest in the Libra Age-Decan (1433 – 2149)? This is because the much smaller Libra micro-age decan and overflow (December 2019 – November 2024 – November 2029) first appeared to an unsuspecting world in late 2019.  There have already been some early manifestations of Libra aligned events, and I suspect we are on the threshold of some further major developments soon.  A new micro-age decan appears roughly every five years, but some resonate with larger and more powerful periods such as the current Libra micro-age decan and overflow. This is because the first age-decan of the Age of Aquarius is the Libra age-decan (1433 – 2149) and therefore the current Libra micro-age decan resonates with the massive Libra age decan. Resonance adds strength.

To understand what the world can expect in the rest of the small Libra MAD&OF leading to November 2029, it is prudent to first examine what occurred in previous similar periods since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in 1433.  The current Libra period is a decan (third) of the Gemini micro-age (Dec 2014 – Nov 2029), but this Gemini micro-age, is one of 12 micro-ages within the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2149).  The current Libra MAD&OF is the first Libra period of note inside the Libra sub-age, and as such, this Libra period is the baptism for the whole Libra sub-age – but not for the much larger Libra age-decan (1433 – 2149)! This makes the Libra MAD (2019 – 2129) a much bigger deal than just another MAD.

Of course, every micro-age of about five years contains 12 nano-ages of some 15 months each, but nano-ages just do not have the same impact as their elder relative – micro-age decans and micro-ages.  This baptism of fire for the Libra sub-age should provide some concrete indications as where the world is heading on a mega scale, because the world is definitely heading towards Libra.  Libra is going to provide the context for many centuries to come.  We merely get to see a preview of centuries of possibilities in the years leading to 2029 but reinforced by the review of many previous Libra MA and MAD since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius.  We can treat the current Libra MAD&OF as a wormhole to the centuries of Libra influence coming to our world.

The examination of previous Libra periods was a real eye-opener and provided me with one of a number of epiphanies.  Libra does not conform to the common expectations of Libra revolving solely around the aesthetic and easy going side of life –its strongest association appears to be with conflict. This has some precedents, and even over two thousand years ago, the planet Venus (ruler of Libra), was a sign for war if it appeared in the night sky.

“In the evening sky, Dilbat (Venus) was thought to be a male war god. In the Babylonian omen catalog we read, “If Venus enters Jupiter, then the king of Akkad will die, the dynasty will change …”  Unless Babylonian astronomers had a good reason to think otherwise, the famous conjunction in the evening sky would have signaled a male war god striking the king (symbolized by the king planet MUL.BABBAR/ Jupiter) and overturning his rule.”[1]

Other notable associations to Libra are the advances of women in politics and society and a quest for justice – with the Black Lives matter the most recent example. In addition, the obesity epidemic and diabetes plus the inability of most western nations to effectively manage COVID-19 can be attributed to inactive Libra because Libra’s opposite sign Aries is the sign that rolls up its sleeves and gets on with the work that needs to be done in any situation – Libra lacks this “can-do” quality.

It may seem confusing that both Aries and Libra are associated with greater levels of warfare and conflict, but there are differences.  Aries war does not depend upon a strong and vibrant opponent, and so Genghis Khan was able to go marauding around the Eurasian landmass mainly picking off small countries and cities at will with his massive armies and created the largest empire the world has known to date – though everything did not always go his way!  In Libra conflicts, there tends to be an opponent with stature or power at around the same level of magnitude. Furthermore, Libra usually sees some remediation or mending between opponents following the conflict creating a new balance of power of one sort or another – and balance of power is a Libra archetype.  The American Civil War is a good example of two opposing major power bases but while the Confederates lost the war – they were not wiped off the map.  However they did have to adapt to a new internal balance of power in the USA that did not involve slavery – as (Libra) justice was central in this major conflict.

The major epiphany I experienced with this Libra research was almost two epiphanies in one – as it was a major insight that I had never before experienced despite the fact that I have been extensively researching the astrological ages for over 30 years.  The world is currently in the Libra age –decan (1433 – 2149) and I have frequently written about it including in my book “The Dawning” plus extensively on many other age-decans that extend back over thousands of years.  However, my major epiphany with this Libra age-decan (1433 – 2149) was due to my examination of only the relatively small Libra micro-ages and micro-age decans since the arrival of the Libra age-decan in 1433.

What I discovered was that these nine small Libra periods provided the backbone for the whole Libra age-decan (1433 – 2149) to date.  It’s as if these nine small Libra periods are the backbone of a Libran dinosaur in a museum and these small Libra periods capture the real essence of the much larger Libra age-decan – even though Libran events in the large age-decan are not limited to Libra micro-ages and decans.  What this means is that if I want to examine any age, age decan or even sub-age, I can quickly find their backbones which will provide me with the core developments without examining all dates covered by the larger period.

One major conjecture I am researching is the hypothetical strong association of the USA with Libra.  I use the word hypothetical because it is certainly not so obvious to date.  Who would think that (Aries) gun-toting Americans are linked to Libra?  However, based on Ancient Rome, the previous age-empire of the Aries-Pisces age (715 BC – 1433 AD), the importance of the first age-decan in the previous age, the Scorpio age-decan and overflow (715BC – 1AD – 717AD), appeared to provide the critical third sign for both the Roman Republic and Western Roman Empire.

The Scorpio association with Ancient Rome is not limited to gladiatorial contests, as Scorpio is also the sign of tyrants, upheaval and lack of stability with all these three endemic in Ancient Rome.  The greatest political saga to affect Ancient Rome was the fall of the Roman Republic and its replacement with the Roman Empire led by a series of dynastically-inclined emperors.  This major political transformation occurred in the decades surrounding the peak of the Scorpio age decan and overflow (715BC – 1AD – 717AD) in 1AD.  By extrapolation, the current Libra age-decan and overflow should take the same role with our current age-empire – the USA.  The Libra association to the USA should be more evident in the Libra age-decan overflow (2149 – 2865) but the seeds for this influence should be identifiable and will also be a focus on the examination of all significant Libra periods since the beginning of the Age of Aquarius in 1433 AD.

“The greatest connection between Scorpio and ancient Rome is the death cult of gladiatorial contests and public executions at the circuses which occurred from the third century BCE to the fifth century CE. The peak period in gladiatorial contests was the first and second centuries CE,[2] just after the Scorpio age-decan cusp. The general public’s fascination with the killing of human beings as a spectator sport shows how cultural preferences on a grand scale can be grossly distorted. Scorpio always has a fondness toward death cults, and ancient Rome was certainly not alone in this regard at this period. This apparent barbaric behavior by the citizens of ancient Rome has its modern pale reflection in the preference of Hollywood and computer gamers for virtual violence, death, and destruction.”[3]

Libra is a major sign in China’s astrological signature as Libra is associated with the whole of the Far East and can be expressed with yin-yang.  Some attention will also be focused upon China as a guide to its future path and role in the world and relationship with the USA. Famous women and notable marriages also strongly figure in the Libra backbone, as do music and the arts in general.

The following Libra micro-ages and decans, plus their respective overflows, will be examined, and each one is associated with one or more major conflicts, and so it will be necessary to deduce if some serious conflict which is either military, cyber warfare or otherwise is due in the current decade associated with the Libra MAD&OF (Dec 19 – Nov 24 – Nov 29) and what this portends for the rest of the millennium.  On average, every third Libra period is a micro-age correlating to around 30 years of influence (taking into accounts the overflow) whereas micro-age decans and overflow account for 10 years:

A Baptism of Justice – George Floyd

It is extremely unfortunate that the untimely death of George Floyd at the hands of some Minneapolis policemen on 25th May 2020 should present the second major excursion into Aquarius territory since the arrival of the Aquarius micro-age decan overflow in December 2019 (see Table 1 below).  This Aquarius micro-age decan overflow is the second half of the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (December 2014 – December 2019 – November 2024), but the second half is where most action is located due to the wave-like nature of the astrological ages and their sub periods.

Table 1 – The real punch in the above is found around the nano-age decans and overflows (top two bars), while the punch from the Aquarius nano-age overflow peaked in December 2019 and remains in full flight until March 2021. The above all sit within the Gemini micro-age of the Libra sub-age – the forth sub-age in the Age of Aquarius.

Of course, the first major excursion associated with the Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (December 2019 – November 2024) combined with the Virgo nano-age decan and overflow (Dec 19 – May 20 – Oct 20) was the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic that has created the greatest disruption in the world since the last time Aquarius was strong, which was in the Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 1924 – 1940) associated with two world wars, the Spanish flu and the Great Depression (see Table 2 below).  Aquarius is always associated with unexpected and disruptive events and Aquarius has the reputation of striking like a bolt of lightning.

Table 2 – the Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 1925 – 1940) within the Scorpio sub-age (1791 –1970) was the previous strongest example of Aquarius to the current Aquarius nano-age decan and overflow (not shown) but contained within the Gemini micro-age (2014 – 2029) within the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2148).

Aquarius breaks up or interrupts (Leo) mainstream life and society and produces fringe conditions and promotes radical elements.  Aquarius’ fringe element also includes the promotion of extremism, and in the 20th century Aquarius micro-age and overflow this principally manifested in the appearance fascism and communism – and both employed the same repressive tools, the main difference being their economic model.  Communism promotes socialism while fascists retain capitalism.

If we are comfortable calling a spade a spade, the killing of George Floyd is a contemporary example of fascism, and demonstrates how even in the land of the free, elements of a police state exists – though I assume that regressive police elements are a small minority of police forces in the USA and most democratic countries.  (For readers confused about fascism, in simple terms, fascism is an anti-democratic approach to politics with strong authoritarian tendencies that also likes to persecute minorities or any group they deem undesirable including the free press).  This murder stands as a symbol of minority regressive fascist elements in the USA, and one reason why the USA is known both for its freedom and democracy on the one hand, and fascism on the other (such as the Klu Klux Klan or other groups mimicking the Nazis), is that the primary sign for the USA is Pisces, and Pisces is represented by two fish swimming in opposite directions.  Under duress, the USA behaves as if it is bipolar.[1]

The general outcry against the killing of George Floyd is a testament to the positive side of Aquarius, and this is what I have been waiting for since December 2019.  As of December 2019, the strength of Aquarius in the world is stronger than anyone alive today has experienced if they were born after 1940 at the end of the Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 1925 – 1940).  Someone would probably need to be at least 85 years old now to even remember the world under the previous Aquarius influence.

An astrological forensic postmortem of the murder of George Floyd does place a strong focus on the police force.  In December 2019, not only did the Aquarius micro-age decan go into its overflow mode, but micro-ages each contain 12 nano-ages, and in December 2019 a new nano-age appeared – the Capricorn nano-age (Dec 19 – Mar 2021) and this Capricorn period has three decans.  In May 2020, the world arrived at the highpoint of the Virgo nano-age decan and overflow (Dec 19 – May 20 – Oct 20) see Table 1 above.

Part one of the Virgo nano-age decan and overflow (combined with the highpoint of the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow), brought the COVID-19 pandemic as Virgo focusses upon public health issues and Aquarius upon sudden unexpected and disruptive events.  May 2020 introduced the stronger part 2 of the Virgo nano-age decan and overflow and Virgo is the sign of the police force.  Aquarius fascism combined with Virgo police brought the murder, while Aquarius freedom and equality has brought the widespread international response after the initial looting and normal disorder unfortunately produced in reaction when oppressed people have more dirt kicked into their faces.

I expect many more instances of the exposure of anti-democratic forces, fascism or neo-fascism over the coming years under the Aquarius micro-age decan overflow, because the strong Aquarius focus over the coming years promotes both the fascist and neo-fascist elements in society and politics and liberal-democratic advances or in reaction to these regressive anti-liberal elements. Aquarius energizes both sides.  So when that police officer knelt on George Floyd’s neck resulting in his death, he was promoting fascism, and the reaction to that fascism may lead to some improvement in curtailing police brutality and murder.

The main reason I was waiting for something like the George Floyd incident is that the world is currently experiencing a preview of the end of this century – situations and circumstances that unfold under the current Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (December 2014 – December 2019 – November 2024) can be seeds that will play out in the major Aquarius sub-age decan and overflow (2029 – 2088 – 2148), especially in the second half (2088 -2148), but in the intervening decades, a stronger focus will be on the business end of the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow (1970 – 2029 – 2088), especially the period 2029 to 2059.

Table 3 – the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (not shown) within the Gemini micro-age (2014 – 29) is the seed for the Aquarius sub-age decan and especially overflow (2029 – 2088 – 2148)

Will the protests about the murder of George Floyd lead to massive change?  Certainly the initial reaction is above and beyond what we have seen for some time, and we should expect that there will be some change for the better.  This is where astrology can assist, as the astrological parameters associated with the event provides a fairly solid framework.  As it turns out, the astrology behind this event is stunning, with a strong focus upon justice.

Justice is associated with Libra.[2]  George Floyd did not receive justice, as nothing he did should have resulted in his death.  Since December 2019, the world has entered the most potent time for Libra and justice since at least the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in 1433. Not only did the Age of Aquarius arrive in 1433, but also the Libra age-decan (1433 – 2148).

Table 4 – the three age-decans of the Age of Aquarius

Libra has certainly made itself felt in the world since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius, and the most graphic demonstration is the evolution in western society, at least, of females from formerly being ‘owned’ by their father, brother or husband, to technically equal rights with males. However, the progress of females and justice up to December 2014 is due mainly to the broad background effect of the Libra age-decan which was strengthened by the arrival of the Libra quasi age-decan in 1791 and Libra sub-age in 1970.

Each sub-age contains a Libra micro-age of almost 15 years each, and it could be construed that these should be more powerful than the smaller and current Libra micro-age decan (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) of only about 5 years, but this is not the case in this instance.  The current Libra micro-age decan is located within the Gemini micro-age of the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2148) (see Table 3).  The previous Libra micro-ages (and Libra micro-age decans) since the beginning of the Age of Aquarius did resonate with the Libra age-decan, but the current Libra micro-age decan resonates with both the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2148) and Libra age-decan (1433 – 2148).  The strength of resonance is increased the more periods are linked by zodiacal sign.  So, even though the current Libra period is only a micro-age decan, it resonates with two much more powerful Libra periods.

Even ignoring the Libra age-decan (1433 – 2148), the current Libra micro-age decan commencing December 2019, resonating with the Libra sub-age alone (1970 – 2148), is the real baptism of the Libra sub-age as this Libra micro-age decan is the strongest appearance of Libra since the beginning of the Libra sub-age that commenced in 1970. These baptism periods appear for every age, age-decan, sub-age, micro-age and even nano-age – plus their decans.  So the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 19 – Nov 24 – Nov 29) is the actual baptism of the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2148) and in this period we have recently entered, it is letting the world know that Libra is ramping up as not only the sign of the future, but that this future has arrived on our doorstep.  This strongly suggests that the George Floyd instance is not just another ineffectual reaction to the extrajudicial killing of an Afro-American, but a shifting up in gear for the justice lobby in general.

Furthermore, it is providing direction as to where the world is heading, because the world is heading towards over seven centuries of a Libra world where astrology indicates a general increase in justice, equality plus the middle of the road approach – but no zodiacal sign is one-sided.  Libra also brings great conflict due to parties with opposing views digging into their positions and rejecting compromise.  This is readily seen in recent examples of Libra micro-ages or micro-age decans in earlier sub-ages within the age of Aquarius.

The last time Libra had some strength was in the 20th century Aquarius micro-age (1910 – 25) where the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (1910 – 1915 – 1920) witnessed the First World War (1914/17 – 1918) which was mainly aligned with the more powerful second half – the Libra micro-age decan overflow (2015 – 20).  Stepping back to the previous Gemini micro-age (1851 – 66), with its Libra micro-age decan and overflow (1856 – 61 – 66), sees a good correspondence between the second half overflow period (1861 – 66) with the American Civil War (1861 – 65).  The very first instance of Libra in the Scorpio sub-age was the Libra micro-age and overflow (1791 – 1806 – 1821) which saw the Napoleonic Wars (1803 – 15) – again more pronounced in the second half of the Libra period.

One of the major consequences of Napoleon’s failed international conquests was the spread of liberalism which promoted liberty, consent of the governed, and equality before the law.  Various European countries temporarily conquered by Napoleon experienced relief from their conservative aristocratic rulers and exposure to rational civil and progressive laws, and though temporary, once experienced it is hard for citizens to forget democratic processes, due process in courts, the abolition of serfdom, reduction of the power of the Catholic Church, and demands for constitutional limits on monarchs. The increasing voice of the middle classes with rising commerce and industry associated with the Sagittarius sub-age overflow (1791 – 1970) meant that after the defeat of Napoleon, the restored European monarchs found it difficult to restore pre-revolutionary absolutism and had to retain many of the reforms enacted during Napoleon’s rule – including the metric system. Institutional legacies even remain to this day in the form of civil law, with clearly defined codes of law—an enduring legacy of the Napoleonic Code[3] despite Napoleon being a megalomaniacal autocrat.  Rarely is anything all black or all white – even including President Trump!

While the current Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 19 – Nov 24 – Nov 29) is the baptism of the current Libra sub-age (1970 – 2148), this is all leading to a very major period for the world – the business half of the Libra age-decan and overflow (1433 – 2148 – 2863) commencing the middle of the next century and enduring in strength for over seven centuries.  An analysis of this major feature in the Age of Aquarius could be a book on its own, but we can draw some conclusions about where the world is heading – which does not seem to be a post-apocalyptic future as represented in countless science fiction movies of people eking out a living in ruined cities or devastated landscapes nor promoting fascist-style corporate states colonizing planets from other solar systems and treating their inhabitants like Afro-Americans …. and so on.  Most science fiction is a reflection of our technological but medieval-orientated world, not the world of the future. (see The Myth of Modernity)

Without any recourse to astrology whatsoever, the history of humanity since the retreat of glaciers about 12,000 years ago has witnessed relatively non-stop progress in society, technology and politics, but with many serious setbacks and obstacles, that despite their ferocity, have been incapable of stopping this longterm social-political-technological progressiveness.  Since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in 1433, the tempo of progress and liberalization has increased and Europeans initially spearheaded the progressive modern revolution (combined with much tyranny), and while various setbacks and major disasters have made dents in this modern progressiveness, there are no signs that this 12,000-year-old momentum is going to stall or go backward in the medium or long term provided humanity does not destroy itself – just the press of a button or one too many smokestacks away.

It is only in the short term that a backward step can be made – and the first half of the 20th century is a possible example, and even then, much progress also occurred in tandem with the mainly human-made disasters with the initial breakout of modern fascism (and its cohort communism).  This seemingly natural progressive tendency by humanity ultimately sweeps aside obstacles and very slowly humanity is becoming civilized – an objective that may never be realized, but worthwhile seeking. Many people will be seeking a greater civilized society over the coming years under Aquarius, and especially under the combined influences of the Aquarius micro-age decan overflow and Libra micro-age decan (Dec 19 -Nov 24).  The widespread reaction to the murder of George Floyd, despite being just one of countless other similar incidents since the end of the American Civil War, is underscored by a new and evolving astrological reality – the baptism of the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2148) by the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 19 – Nov 24 – Nov 29) with its focus upon justice despite the upper echelon of American politics currently mainly pointing in the other direction.

The previous Gemini micro-age (1851 – 1866) in its Libra micro-age decan and overflow (1856 – 1861 – 1866) experienced the socio-political fracturing of the USA leading to the American Civil War and eventual emancipation of the Afro-American slaves.  It is extremely unlikely that the current Gemini micro-age (2014 – 2029), with its Libra micro-age decan and overflow  (Dec 19 – Nov 24 – Nov 29), will lead to another American Civil war, yet we can see that the rancor is rising and that a time of reckoning is coming.  Regardless of the exact outcome, America cannot desert it’s most prominent sign Pisces represented by two fish swimming in opposite directions.  Under stress, the USA will always revert to attempts to tear itself apart, because this is its nature.

We clearly see America’s bipolar nature in the American Civil War where the liberal-democratic side won the war, but the fallen Confederates did not disappear down the drain hole of history but quickly resurfaced with the rise of the likes of the Klu Klux Klan, and ongoing entrenched racist sentiments that condone the extrajudicial murder of Afro-Americans until now? Despite its bipolar nature, the USA is on the track of modernity and rationality, but its countervailing opposing forces will also be almost as strong.  This will be a test towards the end of this century or leading to 2148, where the internal tensions in the USA may be so fraught, that there could be a temporary interruption in the integrity of the US government as the world approaches the cusp of the Libra and Gemini age-decans in 2148.  Under the same circumstances in the previous age, the Republic of Rome disintegrated and was replaced by the more autocratic Roman Empire.  Age-decan cusps are dangerous and powerful intersections of massive vortices of energy. Each of the three kingdoms of Egypt also fell associated with the respective cusps of three age-decans.

Despite some tumultuous times ahead, the astrology does indicate that the world is at the dawn of a mini Golden Age which no one alive today will see except for previews.  A Golden Age is certainly not a perfect age, it will just mean that compared to periods before and after, it will have a lot going for it.  The Golden Age many New Agers expected with the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in the 1960s and 70s is a myth (both in timeframe and expectations) and is testament to the strongest sign in the world today – Pisces.

While most progress is always obstructed by conservative and other recalcitrant elements in society, such as we see in Hong Kong by the communist Chinese government, we should expect an enhanced focus in stamping out police brutality against minority ethnic groups in society due to the growth of the Black Lives Matter movement as the current time is just the thin edge of the wedge. As Al Gore state in effect some years ago, “… change occurs much slower than we anticipate, but once it does occur, it tends to change very quickly”.  The astrology indicates that the quest for freedom and justice in the world, as exemplified by the Black Lives Matter movement, has a strong tenure for almost five to ten years and sits at the threshold of a multi-century concerted drive for justice.  This justice is not limited to one issue, and we should expect other injustices and perversions of human rights to also revealed in the coming years.

Trivia

  • Even though the world is in the very early days of the Capricorn nano-age and overflow (Dec 19 – Mar 21 – Jun 22), it has already left a mark in the destruction, mutilation or defacing of various statutes around the world, as statutes are ruled by Capricorn. However, the more powerful influence of the overlapping Aquarius and Libra micro-age decans and overflows are breathing down the neck of the smaller Capricorn nano-age and overflow bringing rationality (to some extent) and justice to the situation of slave traders etc. still being glorified. It will not be until March 2021 onward that Capricorn will be peaking, so there may be more on this to come. For those seeking a perfect world, you were born at the wrong time, though a perfect world is an impossibility anyway.  Because Pisces is the strongest sign in the world for at least the next 500 years, most or all current solutions to problems or injustices will include a medieval element that is based on feelings and knee-jerk reactions that interrupt a total rationalist outcome.  Most solutions, while addressing some elements of the problem, are also the seeds of future problems due to the medieval element.
  • Even the statement “I cannot breathe” based on some of the last words of George Floyd has an astrological connotation, as the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow plus Virgo nano-age sits within the larger Gemini micro-age (December 2014 – November 2029), and Gemini rules the lungs and therefore breathing.
  • As stated above, the Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 19 – Nov 24), combined with the Virgo nano-age decan and overflow (Dec 19 – May 20 – Oct 20) has brought the COVID-19 pandemic to the world. The second half of the Virgo nano-age decan and overflow (May 20 – Oct 20) has experienced an international deterioration in the pandemic with far more daily cases compared to the first half (Dec 19 – May 20).  However, the arrival of the overlapping Taurus nano-age decan and overflow (May 20 – Oct 20 – Mar 21) has seen a massive swing away from purely (Virgo) health concerns to opening up the (Taurus) economy and especially restaurants and bars around the world. People want ‘normality’, and Taurus is the most normal sign of the zodiac.
  • The normalization of international travel may take longer than most people expect. With the Capricorn nano-age overflow (Mar 21 – Jun 22) fully expressing the hardship usually associated with Capricorn, it should be expected that the world will suffer more economic hardship for most of 2021 and the first half of 2022.  The overlapping Sagittarius nano-age and overflow (Mar 21 – Jun 22 – Aug 23) should see an economic rebound, with flickers in the first half and strength in the second half (Jun 22 – Aug 23).  With Sagittarius the key sign for international travel, the next tourism boom will occur in the period June 2022 to August 2023.
  • The Gemini micro-age (2014 – 2019), which contains both the Aquarius and Libra micro-ages, is also the same timeframe as the Cancer micro-age overflow, which remains more powerful than Gemini at least until the midway point at October 2021. This Cancer manifests as a time of lack of (Capricorn) leadership, and so we see the appearance of populace leaders such as the likes of President Trump, Prime Minister Boris Johnson (UK), President Bolsonaro (Brazil), because in a strong Cancer period, the focus is upon the (Cancer) general public or ‘common’ people with populace leaders promoting the biases and prejudices of their base to the detriment of (Capricorn) strategic planning. Such lack of strategic (and rational) planning has resulted in these three nations being amongst the worst performers in tacking COVID-19 similar to how Nero fiddled around while Rome was burning.

A Glimmer of the Future?

Many people are currently feeling frustrated at the general state of the world, what with politicians refusing to provide leadership and especially over the devastation of the world’s environment.  There are many reasons for this frustration, and a lack of knowledge of history plays a part, but we should get a glimmer of the distant future over the next decade, especially in the second half (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024 – Nov 2029) though for the astute observer, formative embryonic developments can pop up anytime from now on – and two possible examples may have already occurred.

Does the astrology of the future paint a nicer picture compared to the present?  This can be easily answered by track record.  The track record since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in 1433 AD indicates that massive improvement in the quality of life by the majority of people has occurred – but as a rule of thumb only.  More hundreds of millions of people than we can accurately estimate have in the same period experienced pitiful and terrible lives, with many cut short due to lack of adequate health care, famine, premature death or serious injury from war and so on. Things are getting better, but this in no way has led to a perfect world, or a world anywhere near perfect.

Though the future should be better, the future is slow to arrive, which is very frustrating in a period of time when Gemini[1] is so strong in the world, and getting stronger – because under Gemini, everyone wants everything now!  Not only are you not going to get everything now, you are most likely not going to see in your lifetime what you would like to see, though most Millennials and later generations will see some real progress or tangible results in tackling Climate Change.

In Year 587 of the Age of Aquarius (1433AD – 3574AD), the world is entering a new dawn or mini epoch (that occurs every 5 years or so).  December 2019 marked a number of fundamental changes involving five-year micro-age decans.  Decans, in general, are powerful in the astrological ages.  This applies to age-decans (approx. every 715 years), sub-age decans (approx. every 59-60 years) and micro-age decans (approx. every 5 years).  Even the humble nano-age decan lasting 5 months has clout, especially when associated with the stock market.

The Aquarius micro-age decan concluded in December 2019 – which covers the exact same period as the Cancer micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019), and an alternate way of describing these 5 years is to label it the Cancer-Aquarius micro-age decan.  This doubling up applies to all periods in the astrological ages, taking into account that the first of the two signs is always the most powerful.  [see Age of Aquarius for Dummies for more details]  Therefore, the biggest development in December 2019 was the shift from the Cancer-Aquarius micro-age decan, with the emphasis on Cancer, to the Aquarius-Libra micro-age decan with the emphasis on Aquarius.  This promotion of Aquarius to the detriment of Cancer over the coming 5 years will increase the radicalization of society and promotion of fringe politics we have experienced over the last 5 years to an even higher level or greater intensity.  There will also be far greater grass-root movements to continue the push for equitable outcomes in an array of areas as there are just so many issues that contemporary society and politics inadequately handle. [see This is the Dawning of the Aquarius Micro-Age Decan for more details].

The current radicalization and growth in fringe politics is nowhere near as strong as the last time Aquarius strongly manifested in the world under the Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 1925 – 1940) – so this time around we tend to get neo-fascists and hard-right politicians rather than fully-fledged fascists such as Adolph Hitler, Mussolini and Franco in the 1920s and 30s – Stalin can also be added to the list of tyrants.  However, the near future is not just more of the same ramped up to a higher level (Trump, Brexit, and the many secondary neo-fascists leaders that have been popping up around the world recently) because a new element arrived in December 2019 – the Libra micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024 – Nov 2029) – see Table 1 below.

Table 1 The Cancer-Gemini micro-age (December 2014 – November 2029)

This will be a powerful period for Libra due to its resonance with the massive Libra age-decan (1433 – 2148) of the Age of Aquarius (1433 – 3574) and strongly supported by the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2148) (see table 2 below).  The next 10 years of the Libra micro-age decan and overflow is the real inauguration of the current Libra sub-age (1970 – 2148) as this is the strongest manifestation of Libra since the Libra sub-age commenced in 1970.  This can be labeled as the ‘christening’ of the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2148).  Like Venus in the night sky, it should be something to behold.

Table 2 The Age of Aquarius with its age-decans and overflows

When the Libra age-decan (1433-2148) and Libra sub-age (1970-2148) both enter their respective overflow periods commencing in 2148, a very different world will exist compared to what we take as normal today, due to the nature of Libra – a natural benefic influence, by and large.  It is Libra that brings confidence to the expectation that the world will not only continue forward as it has done since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in 1433, but also have an opportunity to take some more steps toward a more harmonious and even garden-like state compared to smokestacks and car exhausts filling up the atmosphere with noxious pollutants while governments spend trillions on weapons of mass destruction.  Our current plight is another example of our medieval world we have inherited from the Pisces age overflow [see the Myth of Modernity for more details]

This new Libran world will not be heaven on Earth or paradise for a number of reasons – the main reason being that humanity will continue its ongoing medieval momentum for at least another 1,500 to 2,000 years – albeit at a lower intensity compared to 2019. If you want to examine the ratio of modernity to medievalism, examine the period from the beginning of the Age of Aquarius in 1433 to now, and see the slow but steady development of modern society as it slowly displaced some of the vestiges of the medieval side of society.  For example, it still took around 300 to 400 years before starvation was mainly eradicated in Europe (though the Irish Potato famine extended this another century or so).  It took around 500 years for women to get the vote in western society.  The LGBT community has only recently been liberated, and even this is not yet universal in all western nations.  Change happens much slower than people realize, especially for people with a progressive outlook. But the overall trend remains – the world is progressing forward for the better, but this does not mean what is better is always triumphing over its opposite.

My educated guess is that contemporary western society is about 75% medieval and 25% modern (except for technology) – which reflects the power balance between the Pisces age overflow (1433– 3574) promoting medievalism and the up and coming Aquarius age (1433 -3574) promoting rationality. Though we have experienced some major throwbacks to medievalism over the last 500 years, these throwbacks are the aberration, as the worldwide tide under the Age of Aquarius is towards progressiveness and liberalism over the medium and long term – but not necessarily in the short term.  At any turn, medieval Pisces can bite, and bite savagely such as the Spanish Inquisition, Hitler’s Third Reich, communist oppression, the USA’s history of overthrowing democratic countries not towing the American line and so on as some major examples only.  The inadequate response to Climate Change can be considered another bite of the apple by medieval Pisces.

What can we expect from Libra? Libra likes parties, social events, women, art, gardens, the color green, compromises, armistices, peace and peace treaties as a few major archetypes.[2]  Libra prefers equity or the middle path over extremism! Libra is also associated with the Far East which includes China, Indo-China, Japan and immediate surrounding countries though Libra is not the primary sign for most of these countries.  For example, China’s strongest sign is Cancer, while Japan is Scorpio, but the (Libra) Far East provides the counterbalance to the (Aries) West.  Historically, China has nearly always surpassed (Aries) Europeans and all other parts of the world in nearly everything, and the recent rise of China is merely China returning to its natural state in world affairs.  It has an extremely bad track record in maintaining a stable government but continues to exist regardless.

Not everything associated with Libra is positive, as all 12 zodiacal signs are associated with positive and negative archetypes.  Libra is indecisive, so when action is needed on Climate Change, there is no mobilization of the necessary forces and resources countries would usually rely upon say, in times of war.  You can also expect under Libra a slowdown, if not a retreat, in countries trying to outdo each other in building the tallest building – as engineering belongs to Aries – the opposite sign to Libra. Libra rules sugar (and carbohydrates) and so we are seeing this manifest in the world in the obesity and diabetes epidemic.  People want to party hard, and this also fuels the rise of party drugs.  Finally, Libra is associated with immaturity, and we are probably witnessing this global immaturity on exponential growth curve, but music will be playing and the alcohol will be flowing.  At the end of the day, the world under Libra is like a girl that “justs wanna have fun”!

However, there is a very dark side to Libra (as with all zodiacal signs).  Some of the greatest wars have occurred under Libra, as Libra rules opposition and major irreconcilable polarities.  In horoscopic astrology, the appearance of Libra, its ruler Venus or the 7th house (Libra’s natural house) can all engender the formation of a major relationship, marriage, or business partnership, but it can also rule divorce, often acrimoniously, or the breakup of partnerships.  Libra will also focus upon open opposition, and a brief examination of its role in previous incarnations will demonstrate its highly destructive side.

The last Libra period of a note (ie larger than a 15-month nano-age that appears approximately every 15 years) was the Libra micro-age decan (1910-15) followed by the more potent Libra micro-age decan overflow (1915-20) of the Aquarius micro-age (1910–25).  The First World War (1914–18) fits amazingly well into the peak of Libra coinciding with its overflow.  This was not a time of peace but war and its aftermath of destruction including a pandemic that killed more people in the world than the First World War.

The 18th century Libra micro-age decan and overflow (1856 -61-66) produced in its second and more powerful half the American Civil War (1861-65) which strongly suggests that Aries plays an active role in the gun-toting American culture. The Libra micro-age decan overflow (1861-66) cannot be solely blamed for the Civil War, as this Libra period was within the potent Cancer sub-age decan overflow (1851-1910) of the Scorpio sub-age (1791 – 2148) and Cancer is opposite Capricorn – a key sign in the astrological signature for the USA that the Puritans brought with them to America.

The earlier Libra micro-age and overflow (1791-1806-1821) again captures the devastating Napoleonic Wars (1803 – 1815) mainly in the more potent second part.  The Libra micro-age decan and overflow (1746-51-56) saw the Seven Years’ War (1756-63) which included in the American theater the French and Indian War (1754 – 1763).  This international war is considered by some to have the status of a world war and precursor of the two world wars of the 20th century.  The world was learning how to produce world wars.

The even earlier Libra micro-age decan and overflow (1692-1697-1702) finds the beginning of another major European conflict – the War of the Spanish Succession (1701-1714) which resulted in Britain’s rise as the leading European power with the simultaneous decline of the Dutch Republic.  The American theater of this was Queen Anne’s War (1702 -1713) as a precursor to the French and Indian War.

The correlation between major historical wars and Libra micro-age decans or micro-ages is too strong to ignore, and so it must be assumed that of the many disagreements currently existing around the world,  a new period of open conflict is not only possible but highly likely.  Taking into account that the previous major Libra conflicts were all associated with the major powers of the times, any conflict associated with the current Libra micro-age decan and overflow, especially roughly associated with the second half or overflow period, will most likely involve the major power brokers of today’s world.

Therefore, we can assume that the relationship between the USA and China, with or without the involvement of Europeans (on the American side) and Russia (on the Chinese side) with Middle Eastern states probably involved – cannot be ruled out. The big question is really the nature of the conflict?  Will it translate into actual hostilities, or will it be an economic war or proxy wars?  Regardless, we must allow for a major conflict at the upper echelon of world powers above and beyond the normal petty conflicts we have periodically experienced since the end of the Second World War.

Doomsday people will go for a world war, but a Libra period will not produce a world war without major resonance with a stronger period.  The First and Second World Wars occurred in the Pisces sub-age decan overflow (1910 – 1970) that was particularly strong in the first half (1910-1940).  This Pisces sub-age decan overflow resonated with the strongest sign in the world – the Pisces age-overflow (1433-3574) and this Pisces sub-age decan overflow represents the strongest manifestation of Pisces in the world which will not be replicated for around another 25,000 years.  The period 1910 to 1940 was an incredibly powerful cauldron.  The current Libra micro-age decan and overflow sits under the Scorpio sub-age decan overflow (1970 – 2029) and while Scorpio can be a savage sign, it is not anywhere near as comparable to the period 1910 to 1940.  Without the cauldron of the early 20th century, it is unlikely we will see a world war in the coming decade, but we must be prepared for some major conflagration or international discord above and beyond ‘normal’.

We will only be witnessing the glimmer of the distant Libra future over the next 10 years as the world is a long way away from such a dominant Libra reality – as this is reserved for the second half of the next century onward.  Everyone will not be dressed up as young girls partying with ecstasy, as both the positive and negative sides of Libra will manifest.  At the sharp edge of Libra is its quest for justice, equity, beauty and harmony, such as the mythical Garden of Eden, and it is no surprise that the Greens will benefit under Libra.  Though other Libra areas should not be ignored, it is probably the growth of the Green Movement and environmentalists that will provide the greatest focus over the next 10 years but it is important to take note of all Libra archetypes if you are searching for it in world affairs over the coming decade.  At the penultimate alternate festival in Australia straddling the 2020 New Year, their theme was appropriately “imagining a beautiful future.”[3]

It is much better to focus on solutions than problems, and one reason why so many people seem so down and depressed is that they are focusing on the problems – ‘you grow like the company you keep’.  The world has always had problems, and regularly very big problems.  People go to what they focus on – so it is better to take note of all the positive buds or new Libra plants that have been sprouting over the decades which will contribute to a better but imperfect world.  Of course, the message from the Scorpio sub-age overflow (1970 – 2148), especially in the first half, is that security and strength will not be found in the world, and if you are looking for these qualities, it is necessary to search within, as the inner world is ruled by Scorpio.  Looking for strength and security in the outer world is usually a case of chasing straws, and this is even magnified more in our current world with Scorpio ‘peaking’.  Hopefully, Scorpio will not invoke any more use of nuclear weapons in the coming conflict, but this cannot be ruled out, especially until 2059, at which point Scorpio drops in intensity as the Scorpio quasi sub-age decan (1881 – 2059) concludes (see Age of Aquarius for Dummies for details on quasi periods)

The solution to the major problems in the world will not come from anything other than more people being conscious and wanting more action on equity – especially involving the environment.  Very few people make major changes to their belief systems or outlooks after the age of 25 years.  It will be each new generational

Greta Thunberg as representative of the Gemini quasi sub-age (2000-2059) and Gemini youth

crop that comes along with a far greater focus on climate change and equitable outcomes that will make the difference in the world.  This has been occurring since the appearance of the (Libra) peace Movement in the 1960s.  It now seems to be accelerating with the likes of Greta Thunberg sitting atop the iceberg of youthful climate activism and harnessing the youthful momentum of the Gemini sub-age and overflow (1970-2029-2088), especially in the years from 2029 onward.

An excellent calibrator for the coming change is the percentage of the population that votes Green.  In my country, I have watched the Green vote go from around 5% in the 1980s to 10% to 12% recently.  Based on the interaction of the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791–1970-2148) with the Libra sub-age and overflow (1970–2148–2327) – the critical demarcation point this century is the year 2059 – the fulcrum point between the Scorpio quasi-age and Libra quasi-age.  Scorpio is focused upon pollution and destruction – it is not a peaceful stable sign., but it also can result in a rebirth or renewal.  Though it has brought nuclear bombs, tyrants and major destructive revolutions such as the communist revolution which just created even worse tyrants than existed previously and murdered millions of people in the process, it can also regenerate.  Fortunately for the future, the addition of Libra is not normally a sign of violence or destruction.

However, many countries have democratic political systems that prevent or limit the influence of the Green movement.  Two excellent examples are the USA and UK, which while nominally democratic, are extremely reticent in apportioning political influence to minor parties due to the gerrymander-style of democracy they have produced.  Most institutions are conservative, so it should come as no surprise that the USA and UK so-called democratic governments favor conservative elements and conservative structures that prevent or severely limit significant fringe views such as the Greens.  The members of the upper house in the UK are not even elected, while the upper house in the USA, the Senate, basically avoids giving voice to significant minorities by only allowing two senators per state which mostly only represents the two major parties.  Both instances grossly distort democracy.  This undemocratic reality is like racism, no one admits to it.

Nevertheless, despite the delusion of democracy in western society, the delusion of democracy is better than any other system going.  Under democracy, we are forced to work with the lowest common denominator in the political arena, and so the dictatorship of the proletariat basically decides the political direction – Trump in the USA and Brexit in the UK are good examples of the proletariat in action.  Under the first half of the current Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 14 Dec19-Nov 24) the proletariat is not happy with what (Leo) mainstream politics has given to them as they feel they have been ignored for decades – because they have.

If this was a permanent state of affairs, the world would probably not make it through the next century.  Fortunately, there is an evolution in progress in western society, and the astrology of the astrological ages indicates that the hippies and peace movement of the 1960s and 70s has provided the ethos for the revolution of our times – and it is a non-violent revolution due to the growing strength of peaceful Libra.  This evolution will make a big jump forward in 2059 when the fulcrum point between Scorpio and Libra occurs.  My estimate is that by 2059, 20% of western voters will be solid Green voters, and it will be 50% by the middle of the following 22nd century.  The violent revolutions of the previous two centuries occurred under Scorpio when monarchies around the world were overthrown and replaced by democracies, communism or dictators.

While the Green vote hitting 20% by 2059 may seem insignificant, 20% is the tipping point – once the support for something hits 20%, it is able to make major shifts in politics and society beyond the scope of their size.  However, most of us will not see 2059, but we do get to see the budding and growth of the Green Evolution.

Like all other movements or political parties, the Green evolution and associated politics will definitely not be perfect – far from it.  What is happening is that the current highly imperfect political system orientated towards the rich cannot deal with climate change and other ills of the world effectively.  They will be replaced by another slightly less imperfect system that despite its imperfections, can address to a higher degree the major issues of our times.  Western society has already experienced three major revolutions/evolutions since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in 1433, and the Peace and Green Movement is the fourth one and the one for our times – for better or worse.  In centuries to come, it will also be ‘overthrown’ – due to the many imperfections that will prevent it from dealing with the issues of the future centuries. [see Is Western Society Due Another Revolution? ]

The rise of this new movement and political entity will not wipe out western society as we know it today.  Nearly all elements will remain such as imperfect democracies, corporations, rich and poor, war and conflict and so on, but kind of limited, put into their place, or not so freely allowed to create utter chaos such as extreme capitalism has done to the world’s environment.  The world has already rejected extreme socialism in the form of communism and just needs to also reject extreme capitalism currently strongly promoted by most conservative western governments with the unconscious support of their proletariats.  Libra promotes a balance, not a wipeout.  Furthermore, the medieval influence in western society will remain quite strong until at least 2500 AD, and even then, will continue on for almost another 2,000 years.  People will not let go of their belief systems but are like birds in a cage with the door open – but unwilling to fly out to their freedom.  The Green Movement also reeks of belief systems, just like the rest of society.  This is why the Green Movement will also have an expiry date as belief systems are more static and find difficulty adapting to changed circumstances.  The recent worldwide mainly religious-based pedophile scandal is a good example of inflexible belief systems hitting reality and is an excellent example of how medieval the world remains., but it is being slowly and surely chipped away over the centuries.

So what we get in the Libra micro-age decan and overflow over the next decade is a homeopathic taste of the future that most of us will not be alive to see.  If you solely focus on the stupidity of the world, you will merely continue to get depressed.  Look for positive archetypes associated with Libra – the momentum towards environmental justice and equity in general evoked by the Statute of Liberty – but currently mainly superficial and not yet fully manifested.  It is also important to acknowledge the good that has been developed in western society over the last 500 years or so, as the only reason we are able to live and exist the way we do is due to the momentum of progress and liberal democracy over these 5 centuries.  This is awesome (except for those hundreds of millions that were killed, displaced, persecuted or lived in poverty).

The Green and Peace Movements are a continuation of a very long process that was unleashed on an unsuspecting world when the Age of Aquarius arrived in 1433 AD and will stretch for thousands of years. Anything of substance seems to have a long germination process.  Most of us alive today will only get to witness the germination of the new major evolution of western society which will effectively address Climate Change ultimately – plus some other inequities in society and politics such as the rich getting richer while the rest stagnate  It is later generations that will get the major benefits. This does not mean that many other countries not part of western society will not do their share, but for the most part, ever since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in the 15th century, the rest of the world has followed the lead of western society.  It hasn’t always been western society at the lead, nor will it always be in the future.  The dice of the astrological ages seems to randomly select a different region to be new ‘leaders’.  In the future, it may just select diffident groups within a homogenous worldwide society that is the likely outcome and end result of the Age of Aquarius?

There are already two possible manifestations of Libra that may have already raised its head.  Firstly, on the 20th December 2019, the Dutch Supreme Court ruled that the state must reduce its CO2 emissions.  It is claimed that due to this landmark court ruling, climate action is now inseparable from human rights.  The decision was based on Articles 2 and 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights which creates obligations for states to protect their citizens against dangerous climate change setting an international precedent.[4]  It is unlikely that this judgment will make any critical change for the better but at least it is a small step in the right direction.  Law courts are ruled by Libra which is why you will often see a statue of the ancient goddess of justice holding a balance in front of major law courts.  This is probably just a small part of the opening salvo from Libra.

Secondly, the authorization by President Trump of the killing of the Iranian general Qasem Soleimani near Baghdad Airport on January 3 2020 indicates an increase in aggression by the US against Iran – its major foe in the Middle East.  This is seen by most as an escalation of tensions and therefore conforms to the appearance of the Libra micro-age decan.  The war-addicted USA may make an Iran conflict the catalyst for the next major international conflagration?

So in conclusion, the next 10 years is not just about the first significant manifestation of Libra since 1915-20, but also a foretaste or glimpse of our future world.  While on the one hand, serious steps towards greater liberal democratic and green policies will certainly occur, the wildcard is major conflict. In the meantime, the same is playing out for Aquarius, because December 2019 to November 2024 is also the Aquarius micro-age decan overflow and will provide an insight for the Aquarius sub-age decan and overflow (2029-2088-2148) that will also have a very profound influence upon the world later this century.  Even most Millennials will not see Aquarius in full flight later this century.  The real christening of the Age of Aquarius will occur in the Aquarius sub-age decan and overflow (2029-2088-2148) – the strongest manifestation of Aquarius since the inception of the Age of Aquarius in 1433. It will really be something for our collectove descendants to behold.

The Myth of Modernity

On an extremely elementary level, myth is associated with Pisces and modernity with Aquarius and this dichotomy provides the crux of not only this post, but the big-picture view of our world at large.  Though the world is currently in the Age of Aquarius, the overflow from the previous age of Pisces is even stronger – especially in the first half of the Age of Aquarius [see Age of Aquarius for Dummies for details].  A more inclusive way to name the Age of Aquarius is the Pisces-Aquarius age, which followed the Aries-Pisces age (when Aries was more powerful than Pisces).  The combination of Pisces with Aquarius means that the influence of ‘myth’ from the Pisces age overflowing into the Aquarian age is greater than the influence of modernity even though modernity is easier to perceive – which is why most people live in the delusion that we are modern.

It is extremely easy to see modernity as it is represented by electricity, computers, technology, the internet, flight and the most widespread application of various forms and quality of democracy in the world to date – with most of this evidence tangible to the eye (with only democracy being the most nebulous item in this list).  Myth is a far more imprecise concept to deal with as it behaves like smoke and mirrors – what you perceive is not necessarily what exists if you can perceive anything at all!

Modernity is not a myth, the myth is that most people perceive that the world is modern without any qualification – an axiomatic situation.  Modernity may be the most noticeable game in town but Pisces’ myth and other Pisces’ associations are more influential in contemporary society and current affairs compared to Aquarius archetypes.  Modernity only plays the supporting role to myth, yet people believe modernity is the main focus.  This surreal situation is created by Pisces – the sign of delusion, illusion and vagueness overflowing into our ‘modern’ time.  Pisces is the branch we are all sitting upon as our reference point which, due to the nature of Pisces, we are generally unaware.  Furthermore, Pisces promotes medievalism – the name historians gave to that period before the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in the 15th century.

What is medievalism?  There are a number of definitions and associations to medievalism, but in general terms, it refers to that period when there were knights in white shining armor, kings, lords, dukes, barons and so on ruled the lands either benevolently or ruthlessly via a system of feudalism that resembled slavery – another archetype belonging to Pisces.  It was a time when (Pisces) Christianity had an extremely strong influence in western society where the beliefs of individuals could be classified as heretical at the whim of the church followed by punishment of one form or another – including the possibility of execution.

A 13th-century French text representing the Medieval tripartite social order: those who pray (clerics), those who fight (knights from the nobility) and those who work (peasants and members of the lower middle class).

In medieval society, logical understanding and rationality took the back seat to knee-jerk reactions and decisions based on dogmatism, chauvinism and sectarianism rather than fact – similar to how many or most contemporary politicians and governments often operate today.  Facts were scarce in medieval times, and to fill the vacuum, beliefs filled the void.  The time of medievalism was known as “a period contrary to reason.”[i]  Anything different was generally feared, ostracized or condemned and very little accurate information was known about the laws of physics or science.  Society was marked by prejudices and taboos – females were considered inferior, and people could and would believe anything – just as many follow this pattern today.

The more correct term for the current Age of Aquarius is the Age of Pisces-Aquarius, and this indicates that while medievalism is supposedly finished, it actually has continued to exist and dominates society – though feudalism has disappeared.  Another difference between contemporary society and medieval society is that our society has made some progress in extracting itself from irrationality, but the main difference is our harnessing of technology since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in the 15th century.  This is why historians claim that medievalism finished in the 15th century and was replaced by Early Modernity. Wikipedia states that Early Modernity, based on traditional historiography, arrived in 1453 – only 20 years after the arrival of the Age of Aquarius (or Pisces-Aquarius age).  Some historians claim Early Modernity arrived in 1436[ii] – displaying a scant three year error to the correct date.

Early Modernity led to Modernity around the 18th century but while historians and people, in general, congratulate themselves on modernity, this places the focus upon mainly technological developments and ignores the root medievalism that permeates contemporary western society.  Just consider that at the apex of modernity supposedly sits the USA – but about 25% of Americans refute the idea of evolution and the Big Bang about 13 billion years ago, and embrace a conception of the world that has existed for only about 6,000 years.  This is not the only example of contemporary medievalism.  A better description of western society since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in the 15th century is that we live in the age of Techno-Medievalism.

There are so many examples of contemporary medievalism in society, and when we leave western society and examine Second and Third World countries – the medievalism jumps in magnitude. One easy way to see this is that in many Second and Third World countries, religious doctrine of one sort or another is written into law and enforceable by governments – with some ‘modern’ western countries also enforcing religious doctrines usually based on some fundamentalist Christian belief.  Another classic example is President Trump – irrational, often incoherent, appearing deceptive and deceitful but supported by a very large minority of voting Americans because he promises to support their values – with most of these values based on conservative belief systems sourced from medieval outlooks.

There is a very good reason why the USA embodies technological advances and democratic practices on the one hand, and atavistic belief systems with strong fundamentalist Christian overtones on the other.  The USA was settled by basically medieval Europeans who brought their medieval belief systems with them.  Europe continued to evolve, but their colonizing cousins who went to America held on to many of their medieval beliefs far longer than Europeans due to their ‘isolation’ from Europe.  Europe at that time was at the nexus for the cutting edge of progressive developments and European society moved on somewhat.  This is similar to what many 20th-century immigrants experienced when migrating from post-war Europe to the USA, Canada, Australia and so on.

For example, so many Greeks migrated to Melbourne, Australia after the Second World War that Melbourne was labeled the third largest Greek city in the world.  But when many of these Greek migrants eventually returned to Greece after many decades, they were shocked to find that the Greece culture they knew and kept alive in Melbourne no longer existed – as the Greeks in Greece had continued to evolve their culture.   I have heard similar stories about Pakistanis migrating to the UK.

Unless we recognize that we are not modern but live in the Age of Techno-Medievalism, we are deluding ourselves.  However, this does not mean that things do not or cannot improve – the dramatic improvements I have experienced in my lifetime are awesome.  No longer does religion have a stranglehold over western legal systems as it did back in the 1950s.  Then there is the sexual revolution that came out of the 1960s and the decriminalization of homosexuality, abortion and the recent judicial investigations of religious sexual deviants.  Recreational, and in some cases hard drugs, have been partially or completely decriminalized or approaching a medical condition rather than a legal issue in many western nations.  Even Malaysia has recently acknowledged they have lost their war on drugs and plan to decriminalize drugs.  Euthanasia is seeing the light of day.

The problem with the many recent social and legal improvements is that people don’t seem to notice them – their focus remains on the ills and deficiencies of contemporary society and legal systems.  By analogy, it is like entering a room that urgently needed all surfaces painted.  If a painter turns up to do the job, but runs out of paint before the last wall is painted – which wall will draw your attention when you enter the room?  The unpainted wall of course.  This is what many progressives tend to do, not acknowledge the gains and only focusing upon the ills of society.

Modernity is a development in progress.  It did not wait until the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in 1433 AD to start splashing, but with the arrival of the Age of Aquarius – Modernity got down to the serious business of modernizing the world.  But, according to the astrological ages, Modernity, and all its trappings, is a process that parallels the Aquarian age and overflow (1433 – 3574 – 5697) and furthermore, its momentum will strongly extend about another seven centuries past 5697 to  c.6397 AD before it starts experiencing a serious pushback (from the Leo age-decan of the distant Sagittarius age).

Based on the above, if we take the whole period where the process of modernization is under development (1433 – 6397), a period of 4,964 years, in the year 2019 we are only 586 years inside this modernizing period.  This indicates that only approximately 12% of the possible modernization to come has made its impact to date.  The remaining ‘necessary’ 88% of modernization remains to be tackled. This is a very low level of modernization in our world, as the medieval influence can be argued to sit at around 88%.

The world remains at the kindergarten level of modernization (and democracy) – much more is yet to come.  So the big question is – what fills the gap between contemporary modernization and the level we are to achieve over the coming millennia?  It is mainly Pisces archetypes with a dash of Aries.  The world remains strongly influenced by the Aries age and overflow (2916 BC – 732 BC – 1433 AD) and while the momentum from this Aries epoch continues on with its male macho aggressive influence – its days are numbered.  The current Libra age-decan and overflow (1433 – 2148 – 2863) is in the process of overthrowing the vestige influence from the Aries epoch, and the recent strides females have made since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius and Libra age-decan is part of the accelerating Libra influence (which shifted into second gear in 1791).  Libra is even stronger next century (when it shifts into third gear).  In the meantime, we still have leaders in the world mentioning the possibility of using nuclear weapons demonstrating the ongoing legacy of violent Aries.

The Pisces epoch is defined as the Pisces age and overflow (732 BC – 1433 AD – 3574 AD), plus an additional seven centuries at the end (until it hits the might of the Virgo age-decan and especially its overflow around 2,000 years from now).  Pisces is not only the sign of today, it has also passed through about 80% of its time of might and so we know a lot more about the influence of Pisces.  In a nutshell, Pisces is associated with medievalism.  Combine medievalism with the remnant from macho Aries and you have a popular combination for the president of the USA modeled after John Wayne. and a growing number of wannabees around the world such as the UK, Brazil and so on.

No sign is associated with only positive archetypes.  The current Libra age-decan and overflow (1433 – 2148 – 2863) at the beginning of the Age of Aquarius breeds opposition.  This may help explain the developing divide of progressive versus conservatives around the world – but mainly in western society at present as each side of the debate sours with increasing frustration at either lack of progress or too much progress.  Another developing divide is autocratic governments (China, Russia etc) versus the ‘free’ world.  These divides will grow over the coming centuries due to the increase in influence in the Libra age-decan and overflow, especially post 2148 – though the astrology does indicate the possibility of a compromise of sorts.

The currents Libra sub-age and overflow (1970 – 2148 – 2327) is accelerating toward the 2148 high point of the first age-decan in the Age of Aquarius – the Libra age-decan and overflow (1433 – 2148 – 2863).  This suggests that all those science fiction apocalyptic or doom and gloom scenarios that have presented to us about the future are actually the transformation of our current pessimistic outlooks into the future and does not take into account the ‘softening’ of the world social and political situation associated with Libra.  Libra is not associated with austerity or living in caves or ruins of cities in a post-apocalyptic world due to climate change, nuclear war etc.  However, it cannot be absolutely ruled out that Libra will return the world to its garden state because humanity has wiped itself out by nuclear or environmental issues before Libra extends its influence from around 2059 onward.  If we survive, things look much better in the future, if we don’t, the world will improve anyway.

All the above however remains under the long term shift in emphasis from Pisces to Aquarius, and while progressive policies may fluctuate between centuries, it does not change the fundamental outlook that progress is a slow and extremely long term process.  I am sure that in the middle of the next century, progressives will still be gnashing their teeth and conservatives searching for ways to trip them up.  In addition, just to complicate matters, it is absurd to think that all initiatives of progressives or liberals are ‘good’ and that conservative initiatives are bad.  This is an absurd gross oversimplification that would imply that progressives are better people than conservatives.

In my decades of research, I have come to the conclusion that nearly everyone believes they are doing the right thing – and promoting the best policies or outlooks for their family, community, society, nation and world regardless of their political orientation.  It is important to be able to empathize with your political opponents and understand where they are coming from – because your opponent is usually equally sincere in their beliefs as you are.

In the meantime, living in the Age of Techno-Medievalism means that we must deal with a lot of backward and regressive issues due to our early position in Modernity.  There is only so much modernization that can occur in every century, and we will have to realize that the sum total of modernity cannot arrive either in our lifetimes, this century – or even this millennium.

Furthermore, progressive are not anti-medieval and conservatives pro-medieval.  This black and white narrative is incorrect.  Every person, group and country is a mixture of medieval and rational attributes.  The Greens and progressive political parties often demonstrate adherence to medieval values in their pursuit of modern progressive objectives.  A classic example is Greenpeace’s  Rainbow Warrior and its confrontational objectives. Another example is vegans breaking into animal farms and destroying property.   Is it ideal to seek idealistic solutions using yesterdays’ confrontational methods?  Many progressive believe so and indicates how pervasive Pisces medievalism remains out of control in our early 21st century world.

It is not good enough having progressive policies, it is also necessary to be highly conscious in dealing with opponents.  For millennia to come, every Aquarius archetype that appears will be shadowed by Pisces!  We all have the court jester, a knight in white shining armor, witch persecutor or damsel in distress in each of us. Instead of resorting to medieval tribalism, it is far more rational to respect political opponents and to be conscious in any dealings with them.  The views of our conservative opponents are usually a reflection of their gestational social and family environment which is rarely under their control.  A conservative cannot help being a conservative any more than a progressive can help being a progressive.

In conclusion, if you are a frustrated progressive, there is very little you can do to immediately correct all the ills in society other than by voting, expressing your opinions, belonging to groups engage in progressive change, participating in peaceful demonstrations etc with the understanding that progressive policies are very slow in arriving.  On a recent visit by Al Gore to Australia, he stated to the effect that:

‘expected change is much slower in coming than what is expected, but when it does come, it comes much faster than expected’

Despite the need for progressives to be more realistic in the fulfillment of their expectations, what is under our control is our interrelationships with conservative people, institutions and governments and society as a whole.  Gandhi captured the astrology of our times with his non-violent resistance. Non-violence also applies to the nature of our expression and treatment of people that do not agree with us.  The only limit to our personal modernization is ourselves.  Modernity may remain a myth for a long time to come, but our own personal or inner modernization is something we can all work on every day.  The Age of Aquarius is not going to come along and deliver to us a fantasy world on a silver platter where everything is great – that is just a typical Pisces myth.

Background to Brexit

The Brexit referendum in 2016 occurred early in the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) of the Gemini micro-age (2014 – 2029) of the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2148) – the forth sub-age within the Age of Aquarius (1433 – 3574), and all these zodiacal signs are antithetical to the signs in the astrological signature for the UK.  This suggests that Brexit will bring the UK no benefits, but for the short term, it also suggests a damned-if-you-do and damned-if-you-don’t scenario due to the polarization that has occurred in the UK on this issue, very similar to the divide that has embraced the USA under President Trump.  Aquarius does not favor the mainstream – it favors extremists, fringes and radicals, and politicians are taking advantage of this temporary rejection of middle-of-the-road politics in an attempt to shift the political agenda to radical or other extremist agendas. The initial impulse has mainly been towards the hard right wing and even neo-fascist side of politics – but it remains early days yet for the current Aquarius period.

My final analysis of Brexit will cover the clash between UK’s astrological signature and the signs of these times, especially the Brexit referendum while this background analysis is based on examining the UK’s performance under previous Aquarius micro-age decans (and micro-ages) as far back as the end of the Age of Pisces.  This allows us to find thematic and archetypal diachronic connections that can shed light on Brexit and what it really means for the UK.

Many people think that any random development, such as Brexit, is reasonable if it agrees with their personal political views.  For example, is Scotland better off as a separate country or part of the UK?  To answer this, it is necessary to understand where the world is heading, because even without astrology, it is obvious that the evolution of civilization does indicate a direction to this evolution, otherwise we would be viewing the murder or killing of people on TV in replication of the Roman circus where such events were considered ‘normal’ to the spectators.  There is both progress and acknowledgement that much more progress needs to occur due to numerous shortcomings with society and politics.   It is easy to see the benefits and direction of progress over previous centuries and millennia, but how do we project progress into the future so that we can see how present events support or detract from the where the world is heading?

This is outside the scope of this analysis, but the astrology associated with the Age of Aquarius, suggests that the world is approaching greater aggregation, coordination and synchronization with the role of individual nations being sublimated into larger global structures, in the same way over the last millennium, small kingdoms and fiefdoms were combined to form the nation states of today.  Small kingdoms and fiefdoms were a problem, and these problems were overcome by their absorption into larger structures that prevented them from fighting or undermining their neighbors.  The same issue now faces nation-states that are not adequately synchronized with their neighbors and the world at large, especially in key issues such as climate change, civil rights, religious freedoms, military aggression and so on.  I will be updating the last chapter in my book, The Dawning – Shedding New Light on the Astrological Ages, published in 2011, with a revised outline of the future at the first opportunity.

As previously stated, the Brexit referendum in 2016 occurred early in the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) which is based on a five year micro-age decan followed by its overflow onto the following five year period like a wave [see The Age of Aquarius for Dummies]. In simple terms, the world rotates through five year micro-age decans representing all 12 zodiacal signs normally every 60 years (but with some minor variation at the cusp of sub-ages).  Therefore all 12 signs are generally granted equal measure to influence events, and if this was solely the case, the world would just go around a merry-go-round with history constantly repeating itself.  This means that democracy would usurp monarchs, only for monarchs to again usurp democracy ad infinitum.

However, the merry-go-round scenario is not strictly the case.  It is due to resonance of these 5 years micro-age decans to larger periods that the relatively small micro-age decans are biased in their relative strengths with each other.  Therefore, since the arrival of the Age of Aquarius, any Aquarius micro-age decan (and Pisces micro-age decan) will have the edge on other micro-age decans due to resonance with the Pisces Age overflow and Age of Aquarius.  Every Libra micro-age decan will also be more powerful due to resonance with the Libra age-decan (1433 – 2148).  Since 1791, every Scorpio small period will resonate with the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2148) and so on.  It is these incremental differences between one sub-period and another that provides longer term trends in society. For example, since December 2014, the ages, sub-ages and micro-ages have, for the first time in around 7,000 years, fully aligned themselves to progressive influences but alas, also instability, and this is being played out now [see A Celebration 7,000 Years in the Making ].

The current Aquarius micro-age decan, and following two (Libra and Gemini micro-age decans) are more powerful than average, as each resonates with a larger period – Libra with the Libra age decan (1433 – 2148) and Gemini with the Gemini sub-age decan (1970 – 2029).  The larger the parent period, the greater the resonance between periods.

The first four sub-ages at the beginning of the Age of Aquarius displaying the 12 micro-ages within each sub-age

Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (1373 – 1378 – 1382)

This period, set toward the end of the Pisces age (732 BC – 1433 AD), replicates the Brexit Aquarius micro-age decan inasmuch it is part of a Gemini micro-age and Cancer micro-age overflow, but all larger periods are different and they were also more favorable to the British compared to the Brexit period.

The pre-Protestant English Lollards under the Oxford scholar, John Wyclif, went on the attacked against papal authority, and due to some support from the English government, he was able to instigate virtual heresy against the Roman Catholic Church.  John Wyclif promoted the reading of the Bible by ordinary people, and he was instrumental in producing the Wyclif Bible translated from Latin into Middle English.[i]  Wyclif also promoted the role of the king over the pope and was an iconoclast inasmuch he opposed cherished beliefs and institutions that have become erroneous or pernicious – straight out of the Aquarius cookbook.

This small Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow demonstrates how the astrology of the astrological ages mimics and correlates to historical developments.  This Aquarius period promoted revolutionary Aquarian ideals, but this period is not within the Age of Aquarius, so it does not have any real momentum behind it due to lack of resonance.  However, when the next similar Aquarius period occurred, it was inside the Age of Aquarius, thus strengthening each and every Aquarian archetype resulting in not just a spat with the medieval Roman Catholic Church, but an actual split creating a completely different social-religious-political structure in Europe that lasted centuries.  Resonance makes a big impact.

This Aquarius period witnessed appropriately, the English Peasants Revolt (1381) under Wat Tyler, which was initiated by widespread anger against a poll tax.  Tyler led his followers on a march to London, taking Maidstown, Rochester, and Canterbury along the way.  They tricked their way into London, marched down Fleet Street, beheaded a judge, archbishop and 18 leading citizens, and instigated even greater fury against the Flemish community.  During negotiations with the King Richard II, the London mayor mortally struck Tyler with a sword, and the revolution was over, though the king pardoned all the assailants. Nevertheless, a major revolutionary assault was made against the British government in this early Aquarius period, and this really sets the tone for these Aquarius periods.

Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (1468 – 1473 – 1478)

This period occurs within the Age of Aquarius and is part of a Libra micro-age.   Royalty strongly figures in this period with the murder of insane King Henry VI in the Tower of London allowing for the reinstatement of Edward IV, part of the ongoing struggle between the houses of York and Lancashire and called the War of the Roses (1455 – 1487).  This was definitely a period in Britain where the British royalty and therefore the government were in gross detriment which played itself out in the War of the Roses.

The full extent of the War of the Roses was probably an attribute of the Scorpio micro-age and overflow (1448 – 1463 – 1478) with Scorpio always a troublesome sign for the Taurus British.  Also, the War of the Roses occurred in the Virgo sub-age decan (1433 – 1493) with Virgo opposed to Pisces, a sign that is associated with the British.  Murdering the head of government continues the theme of angst between Aquarius and Leo Britain.

Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (1523 – 1528 – 1533)

This period partly replicates the Brexit Aquarius period due to its location in a Gemini micro-age.  This Aquarius period is associated with the reign of King Henry VIII including the annulment of his first marriage to Catherine of Aragon and the beginning of the English Reformation – a major revolutionary event in its day.  The English Reformation is considered a part of the wider European Protestant Reformation, instigated by the (German) Martin Luther in this small Aquarius period with the new Protestants breaking away from the Roman Catholic Church and rejecting the authority of the Pope, extremely appropriate for revolutionary Aquarius.  In hindsight, the Reformation was an early symptom of the newly arrived Age of Aquarius promoting democracy and rejecting (Leo) leaders, as the new Protestant churches instigated a number of democratic processes associated with congregations into its structures.

Martin Luther’s role also supports the long term association of Aquarius with Germany.  In this case King Henry VIII wittingly, or unwittingly, sided with the revolutionary Luther in opposing the (Leo) might of the pope and Roman Catholic Church but for purely personal self-seeking reasons.  The internal turmoil created by the English Reformation lasted until the Glorious Revolution in the following similar Aquarius micro-age decan in 1688.

This Aquarius period occurred in the lead up to the peak of the Taurus sub-age decan (1493 – 1552), and with such strong support from Taurus, and from the Capricorn quasi sub-age (1523 – 1702), another sign favorable to the British, the greatest loser here was the external Roman Catholic Church with Britain formally leaving the fold.  The Roman Catholic Church has Pisces and Scorpio at the top of its totem pole, and this Aquarius period was greatly influenced by Taurus and Virgo – both antithetical to the Christian church.  The Taurus sub-age decan (1493 – 1552) is also the same period as the overlapping Virgo sub-age decan overflow – bad news for Pisces-Scorpio Christianity.

Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1582 – 1597 – 1612)

The anti-royal flavor of Aquarius quickly manifested when in 1587, Queen Elizabeth had Catholic Queen Mary beheaded.  In the following year, the Spanish unleashed their invasion Armada against the British, only to have it disintegrate due to adverse weather and better tactics of the British with the Spanish losing 65 ships and 10,000 men compared to the English losing no ships and less than 100 men.  Nevertheless, Queen Elizabeth scrapped with Parliament in 1593, where she asserted the monarchical right to assent or disagree with Parliament, and that religious matters and foreign affairs were the domain of the monarch.   The newly elected parliamentarians from the middle class had another perspective.

The death of Queen Elizabeth in 1603 saw the thrones of England and Scotland combined under King James VI.  Catholic Guy Fawkes was foiled in his attempt to kill King James VI and blow up Parliament in 1605 leading to centuries of fireworks for many British and their descendants around the world.  Despite winning against the Spanish, this Aquarius period again demonstrates the traumatic events in Britain under Aquarius, and associated with a royal execution, and attempted royal murder.  However, this small Aquarius period witnessed the birth of the American colonies, establishing their revolutionary spirit from birth under Aquarius.

Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (1627 – 1632 – 1637)

This finds England under the reign of King Charles I (1600 – 1649) who believed in the divine right of kings, and so this Aquarius period witnessed a feud between the king and parliament with the general public opposed to his policies, especially taxation without parliamentary consent and his behavior as an absolute monarch.  Ultimately this cost him his head.  This is a straightforward anti-monarch period, but also a difficult period for the British as should be expected when Aquarius is strong.

Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (1687 – 1692 – 1697)

The main game in town was the Glorious Revolution (1688) with the overthrow of King James II of England by a union of English Parliamentarians with the Dutch William III, Prince of Orange, who was James’s nephew and son-in-law. William’s successful invasion of England with a Dutch fleet and army led to his ascension to the throne as William III of after the Declaration of Right, leading to the Bill of Rights 1689.  The initial dissent occurred due to the likelihood that King James’s Catholic son would take the British throne and therefore create the establishment of a Roman Catholic dynasty. Working with British parliamentarians, William successfully launched a large invasion fleet in 1688, and following the defeat of King James’s forces, James fled England.  This revolution or invasion again indicates the ability of Aquarius to deeply undermine the integrity of Britain.

For British Catholics its effects were disastrous, both socially and politically, as for over a century Catholics were denied the right to vote and sit in Parliament; they were also denied commissions in the army, and the monarch was forbidden to be Catholic or to marry a Catholic – this latter prohibition remaining in force until 2015. Of course, the subsequent persecution of Catholics is good old Aquarius fascism.  It has been argued, mainly by Whig historians, that James’s overthrow began modern English parliamentary democracy: the Bill of Rights 1689 has become one of the most important documents in the political history of Britain and never since has the monarch held absolute power.[ii]

The English Bill of Rights set out certain basic civil rights and clarified royal succession and laid down limits on the powers of the (Leo) monarch and sets out the rights of (Aquarius) Parliament, including the requirement for regular parliaments, free elections, and freedom of speech in Parliament. It sets out certain rights of individuals including the prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment and reestablished the right of Protestants to have arms for their defense within the rule of law. The Bill of Rights 1689 was one of the inspirations for the Bill of Rights in the USA.[iii]

This period is the source of America’s gun-toting culture as this Aquarius period was situated in the strongest part of the Aries sub-age decan and overflow  (1612 – 1672 – 1731), that influenced the early years of the British settlement of North America.  While the British moved on, many Americans have held fast to Aries inspired guns as the formative period for any nation is highly influential in creating national myths.

Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1746 – 1761 – 1776)

This Aquarius period relates to the 20th century Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 1940), and as a preview to the disastrous early 20th century for the UK, in this 18th century period,  it ended with the beginning of the American War of Independence leading to the loss of its American colonies.  This period also included the first war waged on a global scale, and therefore is a precursor to the two world wars in the 20th century.  The Seven year’s War (1756 – 1763) went extremely well for the UK making the UK the dominant world power.  This all occurred mainly in the first half of this Aquarius period, which coincides with the Pisces micro-age overflow (1746 – 1761) which probably astrologically accounts for this war as Europe always splits under Pisces, despite Pisces being its most influential sign.

The second half of this Aquarius period is closely aligned to the growing dissent within the Thirteen Colonies in North America leading to the beginning of the American Revolutionary War in 1775.  This Aquarius period is located near the peak of the Sagittarius juggernaut associated with the massive Sagittarius quasi sub-age (1702 – 1881) which propelled the UK into the stratosphere.  Nevertheless, the conditions that led to the loss of the thirteen colonies must be viewed as an unfortunate event for the British.

Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (1791 – 1796 – 1801)

This Aquarius period occurred in the Libra micro-age (1791 – 1806), at the very beginning of the Scorpio sub-age (1791 – 1970), and is in a period of astrological strength for the UK being at the highpoint of the Sagittarius sub-age and overflow (1612 – 1791 – 1970), with a special positive and strong Sagittarius focus on the period 1791 – 1881.  The UK jumped on to this Sagittarius period with the Industrial Revolution and then went on and created the greatest empire the world has ever experienced.  Therefore, any difficulty experienced in an antithetical Aquarius micro-age decan is like a mouse being trodden on by an elephant.

It is appropriate that this period commences with a quote from Thomas Paine “There is a dawn of reason rising in the world” as a salute to Aquarius, though it did not help him as he was executed in revolutionary France in 1794

Execution of Louis XVI in what is now the Place de la Concorde, by Isidore Stanislas Helman – Bibliothèque nationale de France, Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=17446087

The major issue that impacted the UK naturally was the French Revolution which was already in progress but turned nasty under extremist Aquarius.  The English and European royalty were naturally highly concerned that one of their members had been usurped by a popular revolution championing freedom and justice.  This revolution found sympathizers in the UK who were subdued by the British government, one way or another.  In response to Irish nationalists invigorated by the French Revolution, in 1791 the Protestants in Northern Ireland formed the Orange Society to protect their interests.

By 1792, reformers in England created organizations such as the Corresponding Society of London which called for male suffrage, annual parliaments, fairer land and legal systems, lower taxes, better education, prison reform and basic social security for the poor and elderly.  In 1795 Britain invaded the Cape Colony in South Africa and subdued the revolutionary Boers who had already driven out the Dutch officials.  In 1797 there were numerous mutinies in the Royal Navy perched to wage war against the revolutionary French.

Great Britain in 1793 orchestrated a union of European nations to protect the crowned heads of Europe against the French and demanded the French to restore their monarchy. As part of these frenetic times for European royalty and the status quo, the British instituted a savage response to dissenters in Scotland where the head judge decreed the British constitution was perfect, and therefore anyone proposing amendments was an enemy of state.  Some revolutionary Scots were meeting their Irish counterparts in France.

By 1799, societies such as the Corresponding Society of London had been banned, their leaders imprisoned, trade unionists suppressed and newspapers heavily censored – to keep Aquarius’ fascist side invigorated.  At the end of this period, Prime Minister William Pitt was forced to quit after suggesting to King George III that because of the dissolution of the Irish government and its amalgamation with Westminster, British Catholics should be legally emancipated.  This threw the mad king into a rage, and again we see the antipathy here between Aquarius and royalty – though he did not literally lose his head.

The Irish uprising and attempted French invasion of Ireland in 1798 was followed by the creation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland in 1801, and therefore the UK does have some minor inclusion of Aquarius in its astrological signature, but dwarfed by Sagittarius.

Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (1851 – 1856 – 1861)

This period is another partial replica of the Brexit-Aquarius period and found the UK in the midst of the Victorian era (1837 – 1901) and strategically located in Britain’s ‘Golden Years.’ (1850–1870).  The main difference between the Aquarius period covering 1851 to 1860 compared to the current one (2014 – 2024) is that while both were also associated with a Cancer sub-age overflow, this 19th-century Aquarian period was also at the peak of the Cancer sub-age decan and overflow (1792 – 1851 – 1910) which magnifies the power of Cancer at least threefold (and probably nine fold) compared to 2014 to 2024.  The absolutely strongest time for Cancer in this period was the period 1851 to 1881, tightly coinciding with Britain’s time of might (1850 – 1870), and substantiating the strong British association to Cancer through their Saxon roots.  Therefore, it is necessary to weed out the Cancer influence that significantly contributed to pushing the UK to its greatest heights and seek Aquarius in the cracks.  This Aquarius period is therefore not the ideal comparison with the current one.

Britain fought alongside France in the Crimean War against Russia (1851 – 1856), and Russia has Aquarius high up its totem pole, and thus the most vexing military issue in the Victorian era was Russia, and nothing much has changed.  Leo UK and Aquarius Russia were designed to be sparring partners.  In the 1856 Treaty of Paris, Russia was prohibited from hosting a military presence in Crimea and prevented from invading Turkey.[iv]

The Second Opium War saw Britain overpower the Qing dynasty in China and was the standard act of European imperialism and from the astrological context, (Leo) UK can be in fighting mode in any Aquarius period invoking the 7th house of opposition.  Of course, the Second Opium War had the UK become the major drug pusher of the period.  However, the UK was representative of the peak of European civilization, and this behavior was considered ‘normal’ at the time as Europeans considered that they were superior to other people around the world.

The most radical intellectual development appropriate to this Aquarius period was the publication by Charles Darwin of “On the Origin of Species” in 1859. The book aroused international interest and a widespread debate, with no sharp line between scientific issues and ideological, social and religious implications.  Much of the initial reaction was hostile, but Darwin had to be taken seriously as a prominent and respected name in science. The major reactionary element, in this case, was the Church and demonstrates that in Aquarius periods, great leaps towards rationality can be made, but medieval reactionaries get fired up in defending their former positions of power.[v]

It is appropriate that in an Aquarius period, opposed to Leo ego, that that the human ego should be put back into its place.  This groundbreaking book was another major wedge driven between religions based on (Pisces) belief systems and (Aquarius) intellectual rationality.  In the same way that in previous centuries, the Church opposed a Sun-centered solar system, with Charles Darwin suggesting that humans are related to chimpanzees, in both situations, it is the ego of humans that consider themselves superior and at the center of the universe that is undermined by Aquarian scientific advances.  This exact same situation is replicated today in the issue of other evolved intelligent life existing elsewhere in the universe, with many promoting the statistically absurd notion that we are alone in the universe.   The hairless chimpanzee always seems to extend its shelf life no matter how much progress toward rationality has occurred in the world. The hairless chimpanzee remains highly influential in world affairs until at least the end of the Pisces quasi-age in 2503 AD!

Another demonstration of Aquarius was the Indian Rebellion of 1857, known in India and Pakistan more correctly as the First War of Independence, which was a major uprising in India during 1857–58 against the rule of the British East India Company.  This is a classic example of (Leo) imperial power squashing the rights of people, and treating them as second-class citizens due to their different race. Unfortunately, the Cancer sub-age decan and overflow combined with the Sagittarius sub-age overflow greatly favored the imperialism of Great Britain at this point of time, who naturally considered that they were superior.  A good argument can be made that the Leo aura associated with the British royalty, has over the centuries, descended to the average British person who feel that they are also somehow superior, and why would superior people need to be bound to their neighbors in the European Union?

Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 -1925 – 1940)

Apart from the calamitous two world wars, and loss of the largest empire the world has experienced to date, the prime archetypal event of the period was the abdication in 1936 by King Edward VIII.  He seemed enamored by Aquarius archetypes due to his “apparent disregard for established constitutional conventions” followed by his proposal of marriage to a woman who had already been married twice – obviously a hanging offense in the staid conservative UK of the 1930s.  Aquarius likes tripping up staid conservatives.  Due to the impossible position he found himself in, Edward VIII simply abdicated and became one of the shortest-reigning monarchs in British history.  He appeared to have also been captivated by Hitler’s cult, and even gave a full Nazi salute in 1937 while visiting Germany.[vi]  Aquarius fans the fires of fascism and progress.

However, this Aquarius period witnessed the opening scene for Britain’s “Darkest Hour”, coined by British prime minister Winston Churchill to describe the period of World War II between the Fall of France in June 1940 and the Axis invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941 when the UK was under threat of imminent invasion.  This says enough of the antipathy of Aquarius to the UK.  This technically was not in the Aquarius micro-age decan, but it was due to the UK taking its eye off the ball in the 1930s that they almost lost their eye and ball as well. The British can be at the height of their collective stupidity in an Aquarius period, and the lead-up to the Second World War was a classic example.

To be contextually correct, the two world wars were not solely due to this Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow,  but to the far more powerful Pisces sub-age decan and overflow (1851 – 1910 – 1970) with the most powerful quarter ruling the period 1910 – 1940.  This already powerful Pisces sub-age decan and overflow resonated with the super-massive Pisces age overflow (1433 – 3574) and this strength of Pisces will not be replicated in the world for around another 25,000 years. Europe is primarily ruled by Pisces, but whenever Pisces is strong, not only is there a focus upon Europe, but also on the two fish swimming in opposite directions.  Europe always splits under Pisces, and both world wars demonstrated again this massive and major split endemic to Europe (and passed along to the USA).  World wars are not a one-in-every-hundred-year event, but require a massive astrological underpinning – though in reality, apart from Japan in the Second World War, both world wars were really two European wars of self-destruction – entirely appropriate for Pisces.  Also, the Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 1925 – 1940) sits at the 12th house position to Pisces.

Conclusion

The common themes of these Aquarius periods are: trauma, such as attempted and actual invasions and revolutions; overthrow or assault on the monarch/government (including murder, executions and abdication) and loss, such as the American colonies and British Empire – combined with the extreme loss of clarity in the lead up to the Second World War, where it tried to appease Hitler (an extremely hard right wing and fascist leader), and now repeating this process on a smaller scale with the same lack of clarity in holding the Brexit referendum to appease the hard right politicians in the UK. The UK, and its previous incarnations, is rarely on hallowed ground under Aquarius.  There is absolutely no support to the concept that the Brexit imbroglio is a strengthening or positive step for the UK based on the previous association of Britain to previous Aquarius micro-ages or micro-age decans. The exact opposite is indicated – the UK is usually in dire circumstances in these small Aquarius periods, even though this was self-inflicted due to the Tory government under Prime Minister Cameron trying to appease the hard-right politicians in his party.  Prime Minister Cameron, along with many people, was shocked by the outcome of the referendum, in the same way that the majority of Americans were shocked by the election of Donald Trump as president.  One attribute of Aquarius is its ability to shock.  The current Aquarius period remains emergent, so expect even greater lightning bolts from December 2019 onward when it goes into its more powerful overflow mode.  We have seen the effects of reactionary politics under Trump and Brexit, but the reaction to the reactionary side usually follows.
