Why I Did Not Predict COVID-19?

It may seem incredibly unbelievable, but a sub-period that represents only a minute 1/5184th of the Age of Aquarius has brought the world to its knees with the COVID-19 pandemic.  Such a sub-period cannot create such turmoil without assistance, because a significant event is like a plane crash.  It is extremely rare for a plane crash to occur due to just one thing going wrong – the normal plane crash is the result of a number of seemingly insignificant events, none of which will cause the plane to crash, but in combination, has this power.  Since December 2019, the world has been experiencing such a deadly combination.  In addition, the outer planets have obviously made a significant contribution, but I will leave that analysis to those experienced astrologers who specialize in that field.

Around September last year (2019), I commenced focusing on December 2019 because I knew that December marked the greatest change in the sub-periods of the Age of Aquarius over a five year period. This change was due to the arrival of the approximate five year Libra micro-age decan (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024).  This Libra micro-age decan is strategically located within the following periods that behave like layers of an onion within the Age of Aquarius:

Libra micro-age decan (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024)

Gemini micro-age (Dec 2014 – Nov 2029)

Libra sub-age (1970 – 2148)

Age of Aquarius (1433 – 3574)

However, whenever a cusp is precipitated such as in December 2019, all smaller periods also experience a cusp, and sometimes larger periods as well.  In the current case, there were no larger periods involved, but December 2019 also experienced cusps at the even smaller 15-month nano-age and 5-month nano-age decan level, with nano-age decans the smallest part of an astrological age with clearly identifiable and reliable correlations to worldly events.  In fact, it is one such nano-age decan that has precipitated the COVID-19 pandemic despite the fact that a nano-age decan represents only 1/5184th of an astrological age (i.e. 12 sub-ages x 12 micro-ages x 12 nano-ages x 3 nano-age decans = 5184).

Referring back to the plane crash analogy, no one astrological input precipitates any event in macro-astrology, it is the combination that creates the circumstances and tells the story.  The relevant minute part within the Age of Aquarius was the approximate five-month Virgo nano-age decan (Dec 2019 – Apr 2020), and Virgo rules public health issues.  This alone cannot create a pandemic, because if it did, a pandemic would appear approximately every 5 years because every five years an earth-sign nano-age will appear, and every earth nano-age will have at a minimum a Virgo nano-age decan, with usually every third earth nano-age also being a Virgo nano-age.

Despite the incredible small size of the Virgo nano-age decan (Dec 2019 – Apr 2020), a public health crisis has appropriately occurred.  This also has precedence, because the last coronavirus attack, Camel Flu (MERS), appeared in the very last Virgo nano-age decan as I published on 20th June 2015:

“Though MERS has been around since May 2013, it only accelerated in April 2014 and became an international newsworthy item since late May 2015, exactly aligned to the arrival of the Virgo nano-age decan and overflow (May 2015 – March 2016)”.[1]

The even earlier coronavirus of note was SARS that commenced in November 2002 but it was not aligned with any Virgo sub-period – it was aligned with an Aries nano-age (Aug 2002 – Nov 2003) and Aries is the secondary sign associated with public health issues (being the natural ruler of the 1st house with the 1st and 6th houses the two acknowledged health houses).  Despite this apparent clear correlation, if we examine all the small Aries and Virgo sub-periods since 2000 prior to COVID-19, there have been four earth nano-ages with a Virgo component but only one of these four associated with a major health crisis, and four fire nano-ages with an Aries component , but only one of these is associated with a health crisis.  Consolidating both probabilities, there have been eight incidences between 2000 and 2019 associated with either an Aries or Virgo nano-age or nano-age decan, but only two produced a result, or alternatively, there has been a 25% chance that any Aries or Virgo nano-age or nano-age decan will produce a health crisis of one degree or another in recent times.  I was aware of this unreliability last September (2019), and while I promoted the possibility of an expanded Camel Flu (MERS) epidemic in the previous Virgo nano-age decan and overflow (2015), I decided not to go down that path for the Virgo nano-age decan that commenced in December 2019 as it did not seem a reliable correlation, plus Camel flu was kind of a fizzer and did not really affect the vast majority of the world.

The astrology behind COVID-19, while taking into account the Virgo nano-age decan (Dec 2019 – Apr 2020), provides a very detailed analysis of the real story associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. The real story is that this pandemic is merely the precipitator of a larger and more significant event in the same way as the subprime home mortgage sector in the USA precipitated and created the massive Global Financial Crisis (2007 – 8), which is acknowledged as the greatest financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s.  The biggest problem the world is currently facing is not a health crisis but a financial crisis, and this financial crisis and disruption of the world economy will extend well past the actual pandemic.

Even calling COVID-19 a pandemic is an exaggeration – at best it should be called a mild pandemic despite its disastrous consequences, and possibly is better described as a serious flu epidemic that is 10 to 40 times more deadly than average seasonal flu.  The Spanish Flu (1918-19) pandemic was a real pandemic because between 60 and 100 million people died when the world had a population much smaller than today at about 1.8 billion people.[2]  About 27% of people were infected by Spanish flu and it killed between 3% to around 5% of the world population or one in every 20 to 33 people.  COVID-19 is not in the same league, and the astrology comparing the Spanish flu (plus major outbreaks of the Bubonic plague) are totally different and indicates that COVID-19 cannot be compared to previous major pandemics, though the economic disruption will be at least in the league of the GFC, and perhaps even more so.

I may not have predicted the COVID-19 pandemic, but I did predict the financial crisis the pandemic has precipitated. The following is extracted from my post of September 2019:

“What is even more cantankerous to the economic outlook from sometime in December 2019 onwards is the arrival of the Capricorn nano-age and overflow (Dec 2019 – Mar 2021 – Jun 2022) because Capricorn is true to its archetypal attachment to doom, gloom, austerity and distress – never a good omen for the economy.

Furthermore, the Capricorn nano-age and overflow commenced with the Virgo nano-age decan and overflow (Dec 2019 – May 2020 – Oct 2020) and not only is Virgo the bubble-breaker (Pisces bubbles always has trouble with Virgo reality), but it was with a similar connection of Capricorn with Virgo that brought the world the Great Depression commencing in September 1929.  However, in the case of the Great Depression, Capricorn was a micro-age, and Virgo was a micro-age decan, whereas, in 2019 and 2020, Capricorn is a mere nano-age and Virgo a nano-age decan.  The negative influence in late 2019 or 2020 is one-twelfth the strength and is in play for 1/12th the timeframe.”[3]

So what has occurred with COVID-19 is that it has been assigned the role of “bubble-breaker” and though Virgo usually attains this by bringing in (Virgo) reality to counter the (Pisces) market bubbles, in 2020, it has achieved this by a (Virgo) pandemic. I failed to take into account the possible health aspect of Virgo when predicting the current dire economic circumstances.  So while I did not specifically predict a health crisis that has led to a mild worldwide pandemic with COVID-19, I did predict the financial crisis that COVID-19 has created. And in the years to come, the financial crisis will be the main legacy even after the health aspect has been resolved. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic should be limited to the Virgo nano-age decan and overflow (Dec 2019 – Apr 2020 – Oct 2020) but this Virgo nano-age sits within the Capricorn nano-age and overflow (Dec 19 – Apr 2021 – Jun 2022).  Capricorn rarely brings good economic news, but prefers hardship and frugality.

The most significant astrological ingredient associated with COVID-19 appears to be Aquarius. December 2019 commenced the five years Libra micro-age decan, but this overlaps with the more powerful Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024) as overflow periods are stronger, and so if you are waiting for the main benefits associated with the Libra micro-age decan (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024), this will occur in the following Libra micro-age decan overflow (Nov 2024 – Nov 2029).

Aquarius is the great disrupter – it does not like normality or middle of the road positions, it prefers extremes.  Aquarius also prefers sudden and unexpected shocks.  Also, the Aquarius period commencing December 2019 is the strongest manifestation of Aquarius within the Age of Aquarius since the massive disruption associated with the Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 1925 – 1940) that brought two world wars, the Great Depression and the Spanish flu (it did not achieve all this on its own but it was a significant player). For example, no Baby Boomer or later generations have ever previously experienced Aquarius at the strength it has appeared in December 2019.

Compared to the Great Depression, the current economic crisis technically should be much smaller than the Great Depression because fortunately the current manifestation of Aquarius is one-third the size and length of the Aquarius micro-age and overflow (1910 – 1925 – 1940) and so the current Aquarius input is only one-ninth the power compared to the early 20th century Aquarius.

The timeframe for COVID-19 should be associated with the Virgo nano-age decan and overflow (Dec 2019 – Apr 2020 – Oct 2020).  The majority of the economic destruction should be associated with the Capricorn nano-age and overflow (Dec 19 – Apr 2021 – Jun 2022) so we should expect bad economic news for another two years.  The disruptive influence or shock to the world at large should extend to the end of the Aquarius micro-age decan overflow (Dec 2019 – Nov 2024).

When does the bad news recede? Based on the simple fact that COVID-19 came to world attention in December 2019, at the exact highpoint of the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow (Dec 2014 – Dec 2019 – Nov 2024), this strongly suggests that Aquarius is the key sign for the current crisis.  The associated Aquarius quasi micro-age decan (Jun 2017 – Jun 2022) is the upper half of the Aquarius micro-age decan and overflow bell curve, and with the influence shifting from the Aquarius quasi micro-age decan to the Libra quasi micro-age decan in June 2022, this provides a parameter of some sort for the extent of the current crisis, as Libra is a more benign sign and suggests that the worst will be over by mid-2022.

The current Capricorn nano-age and overflow (Dec 19 – Apr 2021 – Jun 2022) cannot provide any real or sustained support as even though the current influence of the Virgo nano-age decan will be followed by a Taurus nano-age decan and overflow (May 2020 – Oct 2020 – Mar 2021), Taurus will probably bring a serious banking crisis.  The influence of Capricorn will steadily increase until at least the end of the Capricorn quasi nano-age (Jul 2020 – Oct 2021).  Taking into account the quasi period is always the strongest manifestation, the world has not yet even reached the strongest manifestation of Capricorn yet – it remains in the pipeline.

The first significant positive influence will be the Sagittarius nano-age and overflow (Mar 2021 – Jun 2022 – Aug 2023) that overlaps and follows the current Capricorn nano-age and overflow (Dec 19 – Apr 2021 – Jun 2022).  The Sagittarius nano-age and overflow also has within it a Sagittarius nano-age decan and overflow (Jan 2022 – Jun 2022 – Nov 2022), and so this is the most reliable time for stock markets to stage a (temporary) recovery, especially in the second half (Jun 2022 – Nov 2022).

For background economic details based on the sub-periods of the Age of Aquarius, see The Dynamics of Economic Recessions in the Age of Aquarius.  In this paper I published in November 2016, Table 1 (also provided below), provides the likelihood of a large recession based on nano-age timeframes (i.e. 15 months).  All the nano-ages until December 2019 indicated no likelihood of a large recession, and December 2019 to March 2021 indicated the likelihood of a recession is 3, followed by even a greater likelihood from March 2021 to June 2022 with a score of 5.  This outlook supports the above assessment and also suggests a rocky decade ahead.

A Funny Thing Happened in the 21st Century – Part 1

The astrological ages behave like mighty ocean waves. Each age-wave mimics each other age-wave, in shape, size and velocity, but the variation is in the archetypes associated with each wave.  Each wave brings a different set of archetypes with it.  The problem with astrological ages is that they are spaced around 2,150 years apart and very few people can contextualize a series of historical currents separated from each other by 2,150 years.

Dividing an age into three equal parts creates age-decans with each age-decan in the order of around 700 years may be slightly more palatable, but the time spans involved are still taxing for most people.  Sub-ages of around 179 years each may be a little more familiar to many people as most people have some kind of familiarity with the Renaissance followed by the Age of Maritime Exploration with the Scientific Age closely on its heel.  Next came the Industrial Revolution leading to the worldwide population explosion, followed by the Atomic Age and now we have the desultory period of post-modernism.  Sub-ages enter the realm of relative familiarity.

In the same way that ages can be divided into three decans, so can sub-ages.  It is my observation that the smaller sub-age decans of approximately 60 years is the most palatable way for most people to relate to history because 60 years approaches the average span of life.  The normal person will have personal experience of at least two sub-age decans over the course of their life, and the cultural remembrance of the sub-age decan experienced by their parents or grandparents is so strong, that a third sub-age becomes almost as real as the two that are directly experienced.  For Baby Boomers at least, they have direct experience of the Scorpio sub-age decan, the current Gemini sub-age decan, with handed down tales of the Pisces sub-age decan of their grandparents, supplemented with the movies of the 1930s we saw as kids on TV.  Younger generations may be too removed from the Pisces sub-age decan, but they should assimilate the arrival of the coming Aquarian sub-age decan in 2029!

These 60 years sub-ages are not only understandable by most people due to their direct experience, they also seem to dictate the geopolitical reality of the world that sits upon the collective expectations and reality of the world’s population.  The sub-ages provide a structure to analyze what can be expected to occur in the current 21st century.  The 21st century is mainly focused upon the Gemini sub-age decan (1970-2029) followed by the Aquarius sub-age decan (2029 – 2089).  These two sub-ages are the first two of three sub-ages of the Libra sub-age (1970-2148).  The funny thing is that the current 21st century will be ‘milder’ than last century and next century.

Before delving into the sub-age decans of the current 21st century (2001 to 2100) it is important to place the 21st century into context.  The 21st century sits between the 20th and 22nd centuries.  The 21st century is not only bookended by each of these two centuries but also dwarfed by each of them.  The 20th and 22nd centuries are far more powerful than the current 21st century.  This can be readily explained.

The 20th and 22nd centuries each have a sub-age cusp located within them whereas the 21st century lacks such an event.  The Scorpio sub-age came to an end in 1970, and the current Libra sub-age will truncate in 2148.  Each of these cusps can be viewed as the crest of their respective waves.  The wave associated with a sub-age is the third strongest of all the waves, and is only exceeded by the age-decans’ and age cusps’ waves. In a superficial analysis, the fact that the current 21st century has no wave of the size of a sub-age cusp may indicate that it is a ‘lessor’ century.  This may or may not be the case because approximately every second century lacks a sub-age cusp.  Since 1000 AD, the 12th, 14th, 16th and 19th centuries all lacked a sub-age cusp.  It is very possible that each of these centuries were subordinate to the centuries that did contain a sub-age cusp.  A superficial examination of all the centuries since 1000 AD in Wikipedia does qualitatively support this notion but even if true, it is probably a moot point.

So while our 21st century is bereft of a sub-age cusp, it sits directly under the path of the Scorpio sub-age overflow (1970-2148) which in essence is like a tsunami passing over a hapless world. Scorpio does not bring peace or security but disaster and regeneration.  Scorpio is not the sign of war, but it is the sign of terrorism and terrorists. It is the sign of underground criminal networks and disenchanted individuals willing to die for whatever cause.  It is the sign of vulnerability where despite statistical indications to the contrary, people feel that crime, death from war and violence and premature death is occurring more frequently. Scorpio is also the sign of debt, so instead of countries being rated on their gold reserves, they are rated on their debt level.  People use credit cards instead of cash.  The recent GFC was extremely painful for many who had borrowed heavily to fund their stock portfolios.

However, the great scourge associated with the Scorpio wave that peaked in 1970 and is now washing over the world is pollution. Some astrologers have a problem with pollution being associated with Scorpio, but in reality, pollution is the excrement of our modern enlightened society and associated economy.  Many people fear the advent of the Third World War, but the scourge of this century is not a world war but something that has the potential to be just as deadly.  Of course atomic bombs and nuclear power stations are ruled by Scorpio, and their proliferation since the arrival of the Scorpio sub-age decan overflow in 1970 plus some of the nuclear accidents that have occurred to date, strongly suggest that nuclear radiation contamination is also in the hand of cards now being played.  Fukishima again demonstrated our increasing vulnerability to nuclear accidents.

Not everything is dark and gloomy with Scorpio, after all, sex is a strong Scorpio archetype. The Sexual Revolution unleashed in the 1960s and 70s aligned to the peak of the Scorpio wave has fundamentally changed western society and continues to ripple out to the rest of the world. The arrival of legalized gay marriage in some regions of the western world demonstrates that the Scorpio wave of sexual liberation is showing no signs of faltering.  Even Muslim countries like Malaysia have recently allowed their gays to come out of the closet while more backward nations have strengthened their anti-homosexuality laws – but the focus remains on Scorpio.

Is Scorpio a doom-laden gloomy sign compared to most other signs? This is a matter of perspective.  Certainly a key attribute of Scorpio is its death-rebirth nature.  On the one hand this breeds born-again Christians (and seemingly born-again Muslims) but on a more significant perspective, it indicates a time of renewal following a breakdown.  Is the world breaking down?  Is it renewing?

I recently had the fortunate experience of attending the 2014 Ubud Writers & Readers Festival in Bali.  This was not the first time I had attended one of these festivals in Bali, but it was the first for a few years.  It is a great place to feel which direction the wind is blowing.  The almost unanimous consensus by the writers, intellectual s and attendees was that the direction the world is heading is wrong.  Specifically the economic paradigm introduced or forced upon the rest of the world by powerful western nations (since the arrival of the Pisces age overflow in the 15th century) benefits the minority rich at the expense of the vast majority of the world population.  The accumulation of wealth by a few is disproportionate to the number of extremely poor people in the world.  Furthermore, the environmental degradation of the world is a direct consequence of this unquenchable quest for wealth by those who basically are already wealthy in relative terms.

In contrast to chasing wealth, many people at the festival expressed the need to find value from non-materialistic aspects in life.  This was probably best expressed by Keibo Oiwa from Japan who is a cultural anthropologist, film-maker, environmental activist, public speaker and the author of over 50 books.  His slogan for the future was the need to be ‘slower, smaller and simpler’. He received much applause.  Thus we are seeing the dawn of a new perspective on the modern world, one not focused upon wealth and power but upon quality and happiness.  No one was calling for the destruction of capitalism but the sentiment was that capitalism will have to be house-trained.

Keibo Oiwa is not alone, and ever since the 1960s and 70s there has been a small but growing number of people attempting to live an alternative lifestyle or opting out of the money-centric world of extreme capitalism that we now find ourselves in.  Is the shopping mall a sign of progress?  One Balinese teacher complained how her youthful students were totally focused upon what we would call junk-food, because in their eyes, cool people overseas ate rubbish at McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken and the like – anyone with a white skin was considered cool.  It seems that humans are like chimpanzees that want to mimic each other.

This alternative urge towards house-trained capitalism and quality of life over wealth will be a growing phenomenon of the current 21st century but for a while, this new movement will be dwarfed by terrorism, epidemics, failed states, criminal gangs, tyrannical leaders and megalomaniac states but this does not mean a rebirth is not in progress.  According to Malcolm Gladwell, author of “The Tipping Point”, it only takes about 20% of the population to move towards a new idea, trend, or social behavior which then crosses a threshold and spreads like wildfire.  Already in Australia, about 10% on average of the voting population vote Green in every election.  How many decades until this figure is 20%?

The work is certainly cut out for the world in the 21st century, but any examination of the two centuries that sandwich the 21st century suggests that while change is imminent, due to the Scorpio wave passing over the whole of this century, the level of destruction or chaos that will be experienced in the 21st century is limited. The destructive influence on both the 20th and 21st centuries are much greater compared to the 21st century.  We have already passed through the 20th century, and survived, and the inherent problems in the 21st century should not be as great, despite contemporary society’s pessimism.  A funny thing about the present 21st century is that it should be ‘milder’ on humanity compared to the previous 20th century.

Notes

All ages and sub-periods behave like a wave in the shape of a bell curve.  When any period commences, it is at its weakest point, and steadily build in strength to its apogee at the end of its period.  It then breaks like a wave and washes over the following period like a wave in what is called its ‘overflow’.  Research indicates that the sign associated with any period appears stronger in the overflow period.  For example the Scorpio sub-age was 1791 to  1970 but Scorpio will appear to diversify much further in its overflow period compared to its period proper. A funny thing about the present 21st century is that it should be ‘milder’ on humanity compared to the previous 20th century.

Ebola, AIDS & the Black Death

The recent flare up of Ebola in West Africa is obviously a cause of concern based purely on the media attention given to it, especially in cases that are appearing in Western nations.  The general public is already feeling highly vulnerable with the ISIS threat in Syria and Iraq and with firm memories of the recent GFC.  Astrology can provide insights into many situations, like a relatively accurate ‘weather report’. In this case, I am using the Ebola epidemic to demonstrate the efficacy of macro-astrology.[1]  Can the 2014 Ebola epidemic be linked to any of the sub-periods of the Aquarius age in a meaningful way?

My methodology is to take a twofold approach. Firstly, what zodiacal sign or signs can be associated with previous major epidemics in general and secondly, what are the active signs present in the world during the current Ebola outbreak?  Finally, can a link be made between the two approaches?  Based on Rex E Bill’s “The Rulership Book”[2], epidemics are linked to Mars and Pluto with a possible association to Neptune and the 12th House.  In macro-astrology only zodiacal signs are employed, so converting planets and houses to signs, the associations pertaining to epidemics are primarily linked to Aries and Scorpio (Mars rules Aries and Pluto rules Scorpio) with a possible association to Pisces (Neptune rules Pisces and the 12th house related to Pisces – the 12th sign).  In addition, the Ebola virus is transmitted via bats that are carriers but do not get afflicted by the disease.  Bats are tentatively assigned to Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio.

The Aries-epidemic connection makes sense as Aries is commonly associated with the primary indicator of well-being and health.  Scorpio is the sign of death and commonly associated with sudden negative changes of fortune.  Pisces is the sign of ‘endings’ and general calamity and though Rex E Bill is unsure of the association of Pisces with epidemics, my own research strongly suggests a connection.  Pisces was in full calamity mode when the Black Death swept Europe in the mid-1300s. At least one quarter of Europe’s population is believed to have perished and some villages lost around 50% of their population in a matter of weeks.  This disaster occurred in a Pisces hotspot towards the end of the Pisces age in the Pisces sub-age (1253-1431) in the years 1346–53.[3]  This is Pisces at full strength and this calamity remains unparalleled in Europe to this day.  However the Pisces sub-age is the same period of time as the Aries sub-age overflow.  Therefore even elementary evaluation of the Black Death suggests a possible connection to both Aries and Pisces, supporting the research of Rex E Bills.  The years 1346–53 are also in the Scorpio-Cancer sub-age decan (c.1312-1371).  The big question is – was the Black Death associated with Cancer, Scorpio or both?

The years 1346-53 is a period of seven years – suggesting that the Black Death is also associated with a micro-age with the order of magnitude 15 years. The Black Death occurred totally within the Virgo-Leo micro-age (1342-1356) with Virgo noted as ‘the health sign’.  However the magnitude of the disaster of the Black Death affected Europe for well over a century, if not more. So this suggests the emphasis should remain with the sub-ages and sub-age decans.

Like airplane crashes, there are epidemics occurring all the time[4] but the most recent major epidemic since the Black Death was the 1918 flu pandemic (January 1918 – December 1920) commonly referred to as the Spanish flu.  It infected 500 million people across the world, and killed about 50 to 100 million people – 3% to 5% of the world’s population.[5]  This disaster occurred in another Pisces hotspot – the Pisces-Aquarius micro-age (1910-25) in the Pisces-Scorpio sub-age decan (1910-70) of the Scorpio sub-age (1791-1970).  The Pisces hotspot in 1910 is the strongest for Pisces in around 500 years and will not be partially matched again until around 2566, and even at that future date, it is unlikely Pisces will be as strong as it was in the period around 1910. The commonality between the 14th century Black Death and the Spanish flu of 1918 are the signs Pisces and Scorpio with the major emphasis on Pisces.

The one notable pandemic since 1918 is the HIV/AIDS pandemic that is believed to have killed up to 30 million people, mainly in Africa since the 1960’s.[6] The 1960’s was at the tail end of the Pisces-Scorpio age-decan (1851-1970) and very near the peak expression of Scorpio at the end of the Scorpio sub-age (1791-1970).  Cancer does make a minor appearance as the Scorpio sub-age ends with a Scorpio micro-age (1955-70) with the first decan the Cancer micro-age decan and overflow (1955-65).[7]  The AIDS epidemic however is not linked solely to the Scorpio micro-age (1955-70) but to the whole Scorpio sub-age overflow (1970-2148) and suggest that this epidemic has a long time to ferment.  However, it has come under relative control and is no longer perceived as a daunting disaster ready to befall the world.

Despite the outbreak of the Ebola epidemic in 2014, it has a similarity to AIDS inasmuch it has been present since at least 1976 with various outbreaks between 1976 and 2014.  Therefore, similar to AIDS, Ebola can be linked with the fortunes of the Scorpio sub-age overflow (1970-2148).  There are two Scorpio hotspots in the 21st century, and the first one is the Scorpio micro-age decan and overflow (2005-December 2014).  The current Ebola outbreak has also occurred in a Scorpio mini-hotspot within the 10 year Scorpio major hotspot due to a Scorpio nano-age decan and overflow sitting within the Cancer nano-age (October 2013 – December 2014).  The Scorpio nano-age decan and overflow (February to December 2014)[8] is what I call the sting in the tail of the Scorpion.  This is where the current Ebola epidemic has appeared.  What does this tell us?

Firstly, in the previous major epidemics examined (the Black Death and Spanish flu), the two key signs were Scorpio and Pisces, with Cancer making a smaller appearance.  The 2014 Ebola epidemic is certainly stimulated by Scorpio, and Cancer makes a reasonable appearance near the 2014 peak of the Cancer micro-age and overflow (2000-2014-2029) but there is no concentrated Pisces in sight!  This suggests that the Ebola epidemic is a localized epidemic that will not create a (Pisces) apocalyptic scenario (that was reserved to the first half of the 20th century).  It should be noted that the source of the Ebola epidemic is due to people eating tainted bush meat (infected by bats) compounded by the less than desired hygienic standards and medical facilities of West Africa.  Therefore the loci of the epidemic will always be in Africa and the spread of the disease from person-to-person is a secondary feature of this epidemic.  Whilst hygienic measure may be below standard in Africa, it can be expected that the application of stringent hygienic standards in western nations will  therefore having greater control on the spread of the disease.

The big unknown in this situation is the role of Cancer.  If Cancer is a key ingredient in the astrological signature for this 2014 Ebola epidemic, then it could run at current elevated levels for an additional one-and-a-half year up to seven to 15 years. There is evidence that Cancer is involved.  One key feature of the world when it was under the influence of the major Cancer age-decan overflow (713-1433 AD) in the previous Pisces age was naturally the Middle Ages with knights in shining armor defending castles with moats.  These all have strong themes associated with Cancer.  The Ebola health care workers are the new knights, except this time they are wrapped in waterproof protective clothes in place of knights’ armor.

It is Scorpio with the assistance of Cancer that is driving the epidemic.  This suggests the current outbreak could be similar to AIDS and may affect the next seven to fifteen years if the Cancer micro-age overflow (2014-29) is the driving force. Ebola may be a nuisance for another one-and-a-half centuries and will flare up a number of times, especially whenever a Scorpio hotspot appears. The next Scorpio hotspot is not due until 2059-69, but Ebola outbreaks are not limited to Scorpio hotspots.  If Scorpio is the driving force the epidemic may only last a few more months but always  ready to break out a number of times after a dormant period over the next one-and-a-half centuries.

Why Astrology is Becoming More Acceptable

Based on an article by Edward Snow in the Astrology News Service, the (US) National Science Foundation (NSF) reports that Americans in 2012 are less sceptical of astrology compared to any period since 1983.  The NSF reports the high point (66%) for those claiming astrology was “not at all scientific” was 2004 but by 2012 only 55% of people shared this belief.  Young people in the 18 to 24 years age group show far greater acceptance of astrology with 52% of this group believing astrology was unscientific in 2010 but only 35% shared this view in 2012. In 2010, 64 percent of respondents in the 35 to 45 age group believed astrology was unscientific but two years later, only 51 percent felt this way.

There are always numerous astrological ways of examining any development in the world, but I will be restricting myself to the astrology of the astrological ages – mainly the sub-periods of the ages.  Most astrologers have no direct exposure to the sub-periods of astrological ages and so these do not play any part in their astrological perspective in the same way that skeptics have no direct exposure to astrology in general so they cannot accept it.  In my research, I have never found any significant historical development that does not show a correlation to a sub-period of an astrological age, and I will use this growing acceptance of the general public towards astrology to demonstrate the relevance of the sub-periods of the astrological ages.

The key sub-period I will employ is micro-ages.  Each age of some 2150 years has twelve sub-ages of some 179 years.  Each sub-age has twelve micro-ages of almost fifteen years each. All sub-periods are naturally retrograde as are the astrological ages.  Within a year of 1970 was the significant cusp of the Scorpio and Libra sub-ages (this cusp was so significant that many people erroneously believe this was the arrival time of the Aquarian age as the revolutionary spirit of both Aquarius and Scorpio combined at this point of time).  The Scorpio sub-age (c.1791 – 1970) ended with a Scorpio micro-age (c.1955 – 1970) and the Libra sub-age (c.1970 – 2148) commenced with a Virgo micro-age (c.1970 – 1985).  Without getting into the detail, all ages and their sub-periods behave like waves (due to their retrograde nature) and in their own period they are in development phase, while in their following period (overflow period) they expand and extend their influence but slowly reducing in influence in a bell-curve fashion.  So while the Scorpio micro-age (c.1955 – 1970) was developing, its influence continued on into the Virgo micro-age (c.1970 – 1985) but sliding down the bell-curve.  This leads to the situation where the strongest time for Scorpio is actually the last half of the Scorpio micro-age and the first half of the Virgo sub-age – or the 15 year period (c.1962 – 1977) with the ‘peak’ of the bell curve around 1970.

Similarly with the Virgo micro-age – its key time of influence is 1978 to 1993 with its peak around 1985.  To differentiate between the peak times of influence of each sign in contrast to their actual period I use the term ‘quasi’.  Therefore the Scorpio quasi micro-age is (c.1962 – 1977) while the Virgo quasi micro-age is (1978 to 1993).  Before examining the results of the National Science Foundation, it should be noted that the whole explosion of astrology in the 1960s and 70s occurred in association with the Scorpio quasi micro-age is (c.1962 – 1977).  After researching the fortunes of astrology over the last 2,000 years it is clearly indicated that when the signs Scorpio, Aquarius or Cancer are strong, astrology is also at a peak as represented by the publication of astrological works in those periods.

The NSF notes that the most recent highpoint for the discreditation of astrology occurred in 1983, with 1983 occurring not only within the Virgo quasi micro-age (1978 to 1993), but very close to the Virgo highpoint of c.1985.  Even on a simplistic level, Virgo is a scientific sign whereas Pisces, its opposite sign has the decans of pro-astrology Cancer and Scorpio within it, and so we can safely state that Virgo is by default an anti-astrology sign. The appearance of any sign associated with an age or sub-period also has its decans.  This is adequately demonstrated in 1983 which is at the very end of the combined Taurus and Capricorn quasi micro-age decans (c.1972 – 1983).  After ten years of anti-astrology influence from Taurus and Capricorn (opposite pro-astrology Scorpio and Cancer), it is no wonder that astrology’s reputation should be so low in 1983.

The next point made by the NSF is that the reputation of astrology remained highly discredited from 1983 and reach its peak discreditation in 2004 but significantly improved from 2010 to 2012.  Why should this be the case?  Again, it’s all rather simple if the correct astrological technique is available. Following the Virgo micro-age (c.1970 – 1985) is the Leo micro-age (c.1985 – 2000).  With Leo opposite Aquarius, one of the three key signs associated with astrology (making Leo an anti-astrology sign), it is extremely easy to see the correlation of post 1985 to anti-astrology sentiment.  The associated Leo quasi micro-age (1992 – 2007), indicating the full strength of Leo, significantly carries forward the anti-astrology sentiment.  What this means is that if we add together the Virgo and Leo quasi micro-ages we have 30 years of anti-astrology influence – this creates significant momentum.

However following the Leo micro-age (c.1985 – 2000) is the pro-astrology Cancer micro-age (c.2000 – 2015) and more importantly the Cancer quasi micro-age (2007 – 2022).  From an astrological perspective, after a 30 years chill wind, the tide commenced to turn to astrology’s favour with the arrival of the Cancer micro-age.  Of the three decans encountered in the Cancer micro-age (c.2000 – 2015), the first encountered is the Pisces micro-age decan (c.2000 – 2005) which has no direct association towards astrology.  The second micro-age decan is the Scorpio micro-age decan (c.2005 – 2010) with the Scorpio quasi micro-age decan (2007 – 2012). The arrival of the Scorpio micro-age decan in 2005 witnessed the end of astrology plunging to the depths in 2004.  By the end of the first serious pro-astrology quasi micro-age in 2012, the Scorpio quasi micro-age decan (2007 – 2012), astrology experiences a complete reversal of form!

If the above worries the NSF, they will get even more concerned in the coming decade.  The whole Cancer quasi micro-age (2007 – 2022) is pro-astrology and within it will occur an Aquarius period further strengthening the fortunes of astrology. Following the Cancer micro-age (c.2000-15) is the Gemini micro-age (c.2015 – 2029).  The first micro-age decade encountered in this Gemini micro-age is the Aquarius micro-age decan (c.2015 – 2020) with the Aquarius quasi micro-age decan located around 2017 to 2022.  This will be the strongest experience of Aquarius experienced in the world for the surviving Baby Boomers who naturally were the product of the Sagittarius quasi micro-age (1947 – 1962).  The last Aquarius period of any note was the Aquarius quasi micro-age (c.1917 – 1932) when all those Leo entrepreneurs came crashing down to earth with the Great Depression and astrology was at a highpoint with astrology radio programs around the world.

Of the three signs associated with astrology (Cancer, Scorpio and Aquarius), two of these (Scorpio and Aquarius) are also strongly associated with economic turmoil, so in the the Aquarius quasi micro-age decan (2017 to 2022) we should expect something similar to the five years hiatus of the GFC (associated with the Scorpio quasi micro-age decan 2007 – 2012) to kind of repeat itself with the coming Aquarius period with a strong focus around the year 2020 for the greatest depth of economic collapse.  Cancer is opposite Capricorn, and Capricorn is the third sign that brings financial and economic misery, and misery in general, and so Cancer is not associated with difficult economic conditions.

On the quasi micro-age level, we are currently in the Cancer quasi-micro-age decan (2012-2017) within the larger Cancer quasi micro age (2007 – 2022) so freshwater issues are prevalent, such as the recent floods in many areas of the world. Both excess and lack of water will be key issues in this period, and being opposite Capricorn, this 2012 to 2017 period overall should not be a bad period from an economic viewpoint. There is far more to Cancer than freshwater – for more details, see Cancer – the New Paradigm for the World

SCORPIO in Retrospect

Cancer – the New Paradigm for the World

Most people who make their way to this blog read “SCORPIO – the Sign of the Times” that I wrote in 2006.  We are currently in the process of exiting from this heightened Scorpio ‘hotspot’ that affects the world from 2005 until 2015, but with the upper half of the bell-curve located 2007 to 2011/12.  This Scorpio hotspot is currently being replaced by the sign Cancer, and Cancer will be the paradigm of note for the next five years (2012-17) but it has a wider bandwidth than the normal five years.  This Cancer period will be stronger than the effects of most five years quasi-micro age decans but it will not be a hotspot like the previous Scorpio quasi nano-age that resonated with the large Scorpio sub-age overflow (1970-2148)

For those new to this blog, a micro-age is approximately 15 years long and is one-twelfth of a sub-age (approx. 178 years).  Each age of approximately 2,150 years has twelve sub-ages.  These small micro-ages can be divided into three equal parts using traditional astrological techniques.  One third of a micro-age is a micro-age decan.  Associated with all ages and their sub-periods, including micro-ages, are quasi periods comprising the last half of the current period in question with the first half of the next period.  This explanation of a quasi-period in relation to the astrological ages can suffice at this point, and those readers wanting to delve into the subject can purchase my book “THE DAWNING – Shedding new Light on the Astrological Ages”.

If each sign has three decans, one of which is the same as the parent sign, then sometimes the parent sign and sub-period will be the same.  This is the case with the current Cancer quasi-micro age decan.   The Cancer quasi-age decan (2012-17) is derived from the Cancer micro-age decan (2010-15) and is the last decan of the Cancer micro-age (2000-15).  Due to the overflow effect, as the influence of all periods rolls over the following period similar to a wave, the full extent of Cancer is the Cancer micro-age and overflow (2000 – 2015 – 2029).  We can easily verify the arrival of this 29 year period – in 2001, the 9/11 attack upon the USA brought to the forefront of world affairs the situation in the Muslim world.  The key zodiacal sign associated with Islam is Cancer.  This Cancer period has increased the status of Islam in the world for better or worse.  In response to this attack, the USA and its close allies attacked Afghanistan and then perversely attacked Iraq – two nations in the Muslim heartlands.  The Afghanistan war has now become the longest war of all times for the USA.  The other key region in the world that has strong Cancer associations is China. Though we cannot pinpoint China’s ascent to world stardom to the exact year 2000, it has certainly exhibited its daunting lurch forward in economic development over the last ten years.

The arrival of Cancer is noticeable, but the whole period under the rulership of Cancer is not homogeneous – it is more like a giant bell-curve.  In 2007  is the beginning of the Cancer quasi-micro-age (covering the period 2007 to 2022) indicating this central area of heightened Cancer activity.  Again we can clearly see the arrival of this increased Cancer influence with the GFC that commenced with the sub-prime crisis of 2007.  In 2007 it became obvious to traders that a huge swath of derivatives based on real estate mortgages were worth far less than their market value. Homes and consequently real estate is a strong Cancer archetype.  The collapse of this sub-prime market led to the collapse of a number of banks and resulted in the GFC which was basically aligned to the Scorpio quasi-micro age decan (2001-12) that comprises one of the decans of Cancer.

Not only did the rising intensity of Cancer precipitate the sub-prime mortgage crisis, it increased the temperature in the Muslim world, and by 2011 a number of governments of Islamic nations fell to protestors or commenced civil wars or periods of ongoing dissent. The temperature increased in 2012 with the arrival of the five year Cancer quasi-age decan (2012-17) – the upper echelon for Cancer in its assigned 29 year period.  We can expect further unsettled conditions in the Middle East and we can expect China to soon peak – which does not insinuate it is ready to ‘fall’ – this is merely the dreams of American Republicans nostalgic about America being the only superpower of note in the world.

Cancer is not limited to Islam and China.  Cancer, the ruler of homes, always witnesses mass migrations of people looking for a new home and whom we sometimes call refugees – but governments and right-wing politicians and their supporters generally prefer the term illegal immigrants.  This practice by human beings over the last tens of thousands of years (hundreds of thousands of years?) to move to locations where conditions are better has now been made basically illegal.  In response to mass migrations, governments often resort to another archetype associated with Cancer and build a defensive wall (in medieval times a fortress with moat).  The USA is constructing and upgrading its border with Mexico as is Israel building massive concrete walls against Palestinians.  Under Cancer we can expect the number of refugees and ‘illegal immigrants’ to increase exponentially, and extreme approaches to ‘defend our borders’ – perhaps we should buy shares in company’s specializing in fortifications?

Another aspect of Cancer is that it is opposite the sign of Capricorn.  Capricorn represents the status of leaders and those with rank, especially with a conservative approach, plus it also rules the long-term view and long-term plans.  Both these are under threat under the current Cancer period.  The leaders of countries are falling, either democratically voted out by their citizens incensed at their handling of the GFC or falling to insurrection such as we have already witnessed in the Middle East.  In place of Capricorn long-term policy and wise decisions the world will be ruled by changeable public opinion for a number of years, as the public is ruled by Cancer.  I thought the Cancer world today was a threat to the re-election of President Obama as public opinion can swing wildly under Cancer, but in the end he was probably saved by opposing Republicans in the Capricorn camp.  Conservative leaders are on the nose to the general public and I don’t think the general public took kindly to Romney stating that the Democratic 47% of the populace were parasites on the system.

Unfortunately this lack of Capricorn long term view has derailed the international effort to curtail climate change.  At a time when leadership is required, the major carbon producing nations have their heads in the sand and are bickering about their relative carbon emissions.

Countries with Capricorn predominantly in their respective astrological signatures can expect additional turmoil.  Two countries that are unambiguously in this camp are the USA and India.  The USA was first settled by Europeans under the highpoint of the Capricorn sub-age and overflow (1433 – 1612 – 1791) – the first sub-age in the Age of Aquarius.  The USA’s conservative credentials are strong relative to the other First World nations basically due to a large fundamentalist Christian faction derived from the austere and conservative Puritans and religious folk who fled from Europe to escape religious persecution.  The first Cancer micro-age the colonists encountered was from 1687 to 1702 with its overflow period extending to 1716.  For example in 1688 the first group to denounce slavery occurred in Pennsylvania precipitating the split in American values leading ultimately to the much later American Civil War.  Another similar public statement was made by a Boston judge in 1698. In 1689 two insurrections occurred, one in Boston and the other in New York based on divided loyalties between Jacobites and supporters of the new English king, William of Orange. In 1692 twenty `witches’ were executed in Salem. In 1699 a yellow fever epidemic killed many people.

The next Cancer micro-age and overflow was (1836-1851-1866) which naturally includes the American Civil War (1861 – 65) at the end of the Cancer micro-age overflow period (1851-1866).  If this war was replicated in the current Cancer micro-age and overflow, it would occur from 2023 to 2028.  While I am not suggesting that there will be another American Civil War in the current elongated Cancer period, it does suggest that the USA will pass through a very stressful time in the next two decades.  It turns out that the American Civil war coincided with a Gemini micro-age decan (1861 – 1866).  It is therefore possible that the American psyche has aligned itself strongly to the Sagittarius sub-age and overflow (1612-1791-1970) and therefore any Gemini period may be difficult as Gemini is opposite to Sagittarius.  The Gemini micro-age (2015-29) is not just another Gemini period.  The year 2029 marks the end of the Gemini sub-age decan (1970 – 2029) and the beginning of the powerful Gemini sub-age decan overflow (2029-2089) with 2029 the very highpoint of Gemini.  So while I don’t expect another American Civil War, I do expect great tensions and stresses in the American psyche at this juncture.  This will possibly be the culmination of the stress fracture between progressives versus the fundamentalists and conservatives that appeared in the 1970s with the arrival of the Gemini sub-age decan.  Alternatively it could be a major opposition with China or the Muslim world.

India is showing no signs to date of succumbing to the Cancer micro-age and overflow.  Any strategic change may relate to its Capricorn cast system that remains a strongly entrenched social practise even if illegal.  Greater India includes Pakistan and so they may use their nuclear arsenals against each other, but unless this occurs by 2015, it is more likely to be a conventional disagreement.

There is a lot more to Cancer than refugees, American dissent, fall of leaders, lack of long term planning, China, India and Muslim countries.  My research on historical events over the last two centuries indicates a number of developments that congregate around the sign Cancer.  These include everything to do with ships, canals, food (including eating disorders such as bulimia, binge eating and food intolerance), mental health, Mexico, the Moon, mines, New Zealand, photography, protectionism, Russia, Scandinavia, temperance, water (including tsunamis and floods), women and the Working Class. I am not suggesting that this list is exhaustive as I expect great developments towards curing the disease cancer during the current Cancer period, which is already happening.

More blogs on these subjects associated with the sign Cancer is planned!

The Future of Capitalism in the Age of Aquarius

The crash of share indexes[1]  leading to a lack of confidence in the world’s financial systems is at a very low point.  Some people say that this is the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.  Some forecasters are having a field day enunciating with virtual glee the prospect of economic recession and other predictions of doom and gloom.  However, from the perspective of the Aquarian age, this is all so humdrum.

The development of corporations, growth in free enterprise and international trade and finally globalism are perfectly in line with the arrival of the Aquarian age in the 15th century.  Sure it took a few centuries to get its momentum going but the fact that the economic system of the modern world arrived in time with the Age of Aquarius indicates that capitalism is not going to be extinguished in the near future (i.e. the next century or two).

Capitalism is aligned to the (Aquarian) free spirit desiring to undertake some profitable venture.  Personal gain from your own efforts is an extremely strong motivating factor.  However, capitalism is not the only economic approach aligned to Aquarius – socialism is also incorporated into the stable of Aquarius archetypes.  Aquarius is the sign of friends and groups of people combining their energies to undertake some joint task for the mutual benefits of all.  A classic example of Aquarian socialism is NASA and the various space agencies around the world including the International Space Station.

The neo-cons and extreme capitalists throw their hands up in horror at the thought of socialism.  To these extremists, socialism is akin to communism and therefore socialism needs to be beaten on its head whenever it dares to show itself in public.  The recent bail-out of banks around the world and the virtual nationalizing of many banks at the brink of collapse has opened the Pandora’s box of socialism in the heart of capitalism – much to the anguish of die-hard conservatives.  Socializing space stations is one thing, socializing banks is a massive insult at the heart of capitalism.

The Aquarian age will continue to strongly foster capitalism for thousands of years but it will also foster socialism.  Though socialism has been reviled, discredited and ostracized there are signs that it has been making a surreptitious return to the world stage apart from the recent nationalization of banks.  In a recent Time magazine [October 27 2008] Joshua Kurlantzick makes the case in his article Central Command – The financial crisis spotlights the benefits of government-guided capitalism – like China’s that many countries are looking at the gains that China, Russia and some Persian Gulf states have made in recent years by a hybrid capitalism and state control.  State control means socialism.  For example, these state control economies usually foster key industries such as oil or automobile production but then let them compete on the international market in a free trade platform from the strength of economy of scale.

The collapse of the former communist block left the world basically in the hands of the capitalists.  This is an extreme situation and therefore can only last so long.  The middle path indicates that capitalism and socialism must coexist.  China, Russia and some Persian Gulf states may adopt a hybrid capitalism-socialism model, while other countries will probably revert to a partnership of capitalism and socialism.  Has the privatization of electricity benefited us? Does the privatization of virtual monopolies promote free enterprise?

The reason why socialism will return as an economic reality on the world stage is not limited to its association with the Age of Aquarius but also due to the first decan of the Age of Aquarius.  Each age has three age-decans and the first age-decan of the Age of Aquarius is the Libra age-decan.  Libra is the balance.  As the world trundles along towards the Libra age-decan high point around 2148 the pressing need for balance and the middle path (between extremes) increases at an exponential rate.

The balance that Libra brings is of course not limited to the economy – it also applies to the sexes, the environment and opposing political ideologies amongst numerous other fields.  The neo-cons cannot accept the place that socialism has within an economic system as they believe that capitalism is perfect.  If that is the case then we have just had the perfect capitalist crisis.  Only last week Alan Greenspan said he made a mistake in assuming that capitalism worked best if left alone – a basic extremist capitalist viewpoint.  Furthermore, if Eastern mystics have any credibility they state that perfection does not exist in this world. The problem with holding up capitalism as the perfect economic system is that its basic underlying premise is seriously flawed.   There is no perfect person, nor perfect country or perfect president or political leader.

There is also another critical problem with capitalism overlooked by most commentators.  Capitalism requires an expanding market and we have witnessed this phenomenon over the last three centuries to the point that the world will choke and drown in its own pollution if some serious remedial action is not taken over the coming decades.  Pollution is the direct consequence of consumption powered by capitalism.  An environmentally sustainable world needs a lower population with people who on average are all consuming less – this is in basic conflict with capitalism.  Can capitalism and an environmentally sustainable world coexist?

Apart from the age-decans there are also smaller divisions of the ages into sub-ages.  The sub-ages indicate that we are at the tail end of the strong influence of the Sagittarius sub-age – the sign of expansion.  Astrology always includes a balancing mechanism and the opposite sign to Sagittarius is Gemini – which is now growing in strength.[2]  Gemini will reach its full potential around 2029 but the exponential curve commenced in 1970.  It stepped up a gear in 2000, and another step will be attained around 2015. Additional steps are indicated between 2015 and 2029.  So while the arrival of Gemini in 1970 had little influence (apart from reducing populations in First World countries), it will progressively reign in Sagittarius.

The world economic situation is not solely due to Aquarius, Libra, Sagittarius and Gemini – Scorpio is also taking a key role.  The Scorpio sub-age (1791 – 1970) has gone into its powerful overflow mode since 1970 [see Scorpio – the Sign of the Times].  Scorpio prefers minimalism and contraction.  Scorpio wants the world to shrink.  It wants the population lowered, consumption reduced and therefore it promotes downsizing.  Its ability to get its way increases as the power of Sagittarius wanes.

Downsize now and avoid the rush!  This may be too melodramatic as history shows that most fundamental changes in the world take a long time to flow through to their conclusions.  It will take until the middle of the next century at least for the world to wind down to the level required for a sustainable environment.  What we will experience in the meantime is numerous incremental adjustments that most of the time are not too great, but accumulate to exact a great change over the next one and a half centuries.  In addition, there is the three-steps-forward-and-two-steps back rule which indicates that some short term reversals of the long-time contraction will occur.

Nevertheless in the short term over the next decade we can expect that contraction and instability will be the order of the day, and the instability is not limited to economics.  The world hit a Scorpio hotspot in 2005 which then saw its first exponential increase in 2007 around the first stirrings of the sub-prime crisis.  Another significant Scorpio increase occurs around 2010 (possibly 2009) and between 2010 and 2015 some serious unsettled times are due but definitely nowhere near the proportion of the Great Depression.  In fact, very few people alive will witness anything of the same magnitude as the Great Depression as the astrological circumstances associated with the Great Depression will not return until around the year 2089.

Despite this prediction for unsettled times, it is extremely unlikely that the doom and gloom currently disseminating around the world will be evident one year from now (or even by Christmas 2008).  The current doom and gloom outlook is associated with a very small part of the Aquarian age that lasts for only around 15 months.  A short digression into the bowels of the Age of Aquarius will show where the world is in relation to the roadmap through the Age of Aquarius.

Ages are around 2160 years long while age-decans exist for about 720 years.  Sub-ages are about 179 years and these can be divided into 12 micro-ages of approximately 15 years each.  Currently, we are in a Cancer micro-age (c.2000 – 2015).  Cancer equals real estate.  Cancer dramatically increased its strength at its halfway point in 2007 coinciding with the first widespread reaction to the US sub-prime debacle.

Drilling down into the Cancer micro-age are three micro-age decans – and the Scorpio micro-age decan sits from c.2005 to 2010.  Scorpio equals debt (and derivatives).  Scorpio is also opposite Taurus – the sign that rules banks.  Not only are banks on the wrong foot in a Scorpio period, but they are also bound to be experiencing even more serious opposition in the period from 2010 to 2015.  Scorpio introduces the debt and derivative aspect of the present crisis and the role played by banks.

This is not the end of the story.  Within micro-ages are also 12 nano-ages of some 15 months each.  Due to the overflow effect, the 15 months immediately following any nano-age is the most powerful manifestation of the nano-age.  Currently, the world is experiencing the effects of a Capricorn nano-age overflow.  When the world experienced the Great Depression the world was in the Capricorn micro-age (1925 – 1940).  Capricorn periods nearly always bring difficult times plus doom and gloom.  The current difficult economic situation, however, is only 1/12th the strength of the Great Depression.  So while the world is experiencing a wee little Capricorn nano-age it may feel like the roof is falling in (if you are an investor or employed in the financial world) and people may hark back to comparisons with the Great Depression of the 1930s.  However, this is a relatively short-lived situation.

On the nano-age level, there will shortly be a reversal when the overflow of the Sagittarius nano-age pushes Capricorn aside for slightly more than a year.  This will temporarily push some optimism and exuberance back into the spotlight, but with a broken arm and bandages.  Capitalism will not recover its former glory after this current financial mess.  2009 may see a sucker’s rally as the short term optimism and exuberance will not be sustained past 2009 or 2010.

Capitalism may be down but it is not out.  For as long as the Aquarian age exists or has influence capitalism will exist.   In the same way that the worst extremes of socialism manifested as communism in the 20th century, the worst excesses of capitalism have now also seen its day.  The world is looking for the middle path.  It is no longer the time for extremist capitalism or socialism – but rather somewhere in the middle.  This is what the sub-periods of the Aquarian age indicate.   And finally, the 21st century will be the most dynamic progressive century seen in the world for over 7,000 years – judging by the condition of the world at present it has its work cut out!
